00:14 This is a report from the great land of Ukraine. 00:19 It's been my privilege to go there to Russia 00:21 and Ukraine now 47 times. 00:24 I've got a goal to go 50 times, at least 50 times. 00:29 Why should I give myself a limit, you know. 00:32 I want to say this 00:33 before we get into the talk in Ukraine, 00:35 I want you to hear this. 00:38 I believe that the best days for God's people are now 00:43 and tomorrow. 00:45 I don't believe we're going to fizz out, 00:48 I believe the greatest days are still to come. 00:51 Now I've got some evidence for this. 00:53 I want you to come 00:54 to the Book of Revelation please. 00:56 I want you to come over here to Revelation 14:6 and 7, 01:01 Revelation 14:6 and 7, 01:07 the last book which is called the Apocalypse. 01:10 The Bible says, 01:12 "Then I saw another angel flying..." 01:15 What does this say? 01:17 In the midst of heaven. Don't forget that. 01:20 "In the midst of heaven, 01:22 having the everlasting gospel to preach to those 01:25 who dwell on the earth to every nation, 01:28 tribe, tongue, and people saying with a loud voice, 01:31 "Fear God and give glory to Him, 01:33 for the hour of His judgment has come, 01:36 worship Him who made heaven and earth, 01:38 the sea and the springs of water." 01:41 Listen carefully, 01:42 I want this to sink down into your mind. 01:45 The Bible says 01:47 the God is going to have a message 01:49 that is symbolized by three angels 01:53 flying in the midst of heaven. 01:55 In other words, everybody is going to see it. 01:58 I want you to see this here. 02:00 This is sort of amazing. 02:02 There you got a picture of planet earth 02:06 and then you've got this mighty movement 02:09 going around the earth in the midst of heaven. 02:14 Most folks don't understand what that means. 02:20 I've talked to pastors, 02:23 I've talked to elders, 02:26 I've talked to leaders in the church 02:28 and I say, what do you think it means these? 02:31 What they say, well, that's friendship evangelism. 02:34 No, no, come on. 02:36 They say that's small groups. 02:39 Well, it may include friend. 02:40 What on earth is friendship evangelism? 02:43 I understood we're all supposed to be friendly. 02:47 This is not just talking about friendship evangelism. 02:49 It's not just talking about small group evangelism, 02:52 that I believe in. 02:54 It's talking about something bigger 02:56 and greater than anything that we can comprehend. 02:59 The Bible teaches that the gospel message 03:02 in the last days 03:03 is going to be the biggest thing in the world. 03:06 It's going to be on television more than Donald Trump. 03:13 You hear what I'm saying? 03:14 Absolutely, it's going to be bigger than Donald Trump. 03:19 Come over here to Revelation 18:1. 03:22 I was going to say bigger and better 03:24 but I thought I better not say that. 03:26 Revelation 18:1, 03:28 but of course it is going to be bigger 03:29 and better than anything. 03:31 "After these things I saw 03:33 another angel coming down from heaven, 03:34 having great authority, 03:36 the earth was illuminated with his glory." 03:39 The Bible says that the earth is going to be illuminated, 03:44 it's going to be ablaze with the glory of God. 03:49 So I want to give you a testimony. 03:54 I say this 03:56 not because I'm a pastor and an evangelist. 04:00 I don't say this because of that bias. 04:06 I'm a pastor and an evangelist because of these texts. 04:12 That's a complete different. 04:14 I'm motivated and I'm driven to do this work 04:18 and I believe in running campaigns 04:20 where you got a few people, 04:22 but I also believe in running campaigns 04:24 where you got hundreds of thousands of people. 04:27 People say, "No, it can't happen today." 04:29 That's because you don't let it happen. 04:33 I say to church members, 04:34 you are keeping the angels down with the cabbages. 04:39 That's what church boards are doing all the time 04:42 because some people seem to think 04:45 that it is a sign of piety to stop stuff happening. 04:50 You know, they are obstructionists. 04:53 You know what I'm talking about. 04:55 But the Bible tells me, we got to be positive, 04:58 we got to be upbeat, 04:59 we got to have faith 05:01 because God is going to do a mighty work in our days. 05:05 And I've seen a little bit of this, 05:07 haven't seen a huge amount of this. 05:10 But I've seen hundreds of thousands, 05:12 I've seen millions. 05:14 So remember this, God is in charge 05:17 and we need not worry. 05:21 I want you to say this in your mind, God is a judge, 05:24 we need not worry. 05:28 Let me talk to you about the Revenge of the Viper. 05:32 Recently I preached at a place in Havana, Cuba 05:37 that was called the Viper. 05:40 When the church leaders send us there, they said, 05:43 "You really want to go there?" 05:44 I said, "Send us anywhere." 05:46 So they said, "What about the Viper?" 05:49 I said, "Well, if that's where you want us to go." 05:53 We're happy to go to the place 05:56 that is the center of demonism 05:59 because greater is he who is in us 06:02 than he who is in the world. 06:06 So every night I was preaching in the place of the Viper. 06:10 It was hard. 06:12 It was steamy. 06:14 I was feeling fine, 06:18 and then during the school of evangelism 06:20 only about the last day we're in Havana, 06:25 I started to cough. 06:28 And then by the time I got over to Atlanta, 06:32 I was coughing a lot. 06:34 And Beverley and I got on a plane to go across to Rome 06:39 and then to Prague. 06:42 And on the trip cross the Atlantic, 06:45 I got really sick. 06:47 I had a blazing fever, I was coughing and coughing. 06:51 Then we got off in Rome 06:52 and we got a connection to go 06:56 on check airlines 06:59 and to go to this beautiful city, 07:02 but there came a tremendous storm. 07:04 Close down the airport for four hours. 07:07 But they put us on this bus 07:10 and they drove us out to the plane 07:12 and let us off in the storm. 07:15 So Beverley and I stood in the storm, 07:18 I got absolutely soaking wet. 07:22 And by the time I got to Prague, 07:25 I was very, very hot. 07:27 And a few nights later I had trouble breathing. 07:32 I woke up and I found it hard to breath 07:38 and I had this gurgle down in my chest. 07:41 Beverley had to call a front desk, 07:43 they got a check doctor, 07:45 emergency doctor and he came at 2 or 3 in the morning. 07:50 And they stayed with me for about, 07:54 I was there in my room, 07:55 I couldn't get out of my room for two weeks. 07:58 And I wondered am I going to get there, 08:00 am I going to get to my destination? 08:04 Because I was on the way to Kiev. 08:06 And when I got to Kiev, 08:08 I was still feeling hot and coughing. 08:13 But I want you to know 08:15 that this and I say this glory be to God. 08:18 I believe the greater is he who is in us 08:21 than he who is in the world. 08:23 I testify to this. 08:25 I don't believe in cowardice. 08:28 I believe in facing the foe. 08:31 I believe in facing the foe down. 08:35 And God put his hand upon me and God healed me. 08:39 And I was able to preach in Kiev 08:43 with these wonderful young people from Hope, 08:47 Ukraine TV and broadcast the message of Christ 08:52 into 6.4 million homes. 08:55 Glory be to God. 09:00 Now Kiev is the capital, 09:02 and so I want you to know Jesus is Lord. 09:05 Kiev is the capital of Ukraine, a nation of 44 million people. 09:10 It was once part of the great Soviet Union. 09:13 July 16, 1990 they got their independence. 09:16 I was around when it happened. 09:18 But since then there has been turmoil and revolution. 09:24 There has been 09:26 a half war with Russia. 09:30 In places where I preach the gospel, 09:33 they've been fighting on the borders 09:35 of Russia and Ukraine 09:37 and thousands and thousands have been killed. 09:43 Then of course Russia took over Crimea, 09:47 and of course they had owned it for hundreds of years, 09:51 and most of the people there are Russian, 09:53 but it brought international tensions. 09:56 This part of the world is very familiar 09:59 to Beverley and me and my team. 10:02 In 1995 we went to Kiev, 10:05 we ran there the first great evangelistic campaign 10:10 and this is what we saw. 10:15 I come back to Australia, 10:16 I come to America 10:18 and I look at people who've got no faith at all. 10:22 I'm talking about church people, 10:24 I'm talking about pastors, 10:26 I'm talking about administrators. 10:28 They say it could never happen here. 10:30 You know why? Because of you. 10:33 You are the ones who stop it. 10:35 You don't have faith in God. 10:39 But we saw there the power of God 10:42 when I went down to this, 10:44 the great auditorium that seated 15,000. 10:50 When I went down there, there were a... 10:52 This is picture 100,000 people couldn't get in, 10:57 100,000 people. 10:59 We ran multiple sessions. 11:04 You said it can't happen. Well, I've seen it. 11:08 When people say to me it can't happen, 11:10 I say that's because of your inexperience. 11:13 You do no know God or his power. 11:17 But the gospel is the power of God unto salvation. 11:21 Now 11:22 I have a little video 11:25 on location 11:27 that I'm going to show you 11:30 at the Tomb of the Patriarch. 11:35 Hi, friend, I'm John Carter in Kiev, 11:38 the capital of Ukraine. 11:40 I've been to this world now 47 times. 11:43 I come for one purpose, 11:45 to preach the everlasting gospel of Christ 11:47 to these people who do not know God. 11:50 I'm driven with the passion for Christ. 11:53 I want you to be my partner in the preaching of the gospel 11:55 to the countries of the former Soviet Union. 11:59 Behind me is the man 12:02 whom they call the pope of Ukraine. 12:05 This man who is the patriarch said, 12:08 John Carter will preach here only over my dead body. 12:12 Can you believe it? 12:13 He was the leader of the great Orthodox Church. 12:16 And he said, 12:17 "The Carter Report team will come to Kiev 12:19 and preach their gospel only over my dead body." 12:23 That was not the smartest thing he ever said. 12:26 Because just a few days before we arrived in Kiev 12:29 to preach the everlasting gospel 12:31 in the biggest auditorium in the state, 12:33 this man, the pope of Ukraine drop dead. 12:37 I testify this is the truth. 12:40 This is the man who tried to stop 12:43 the preaching of the gospel in this land, 12:46 a part of the Old Soviet union. 12:49 The meetings went ahead by the grace of God, 12:52 but not before they buried him on the sidewalk. 12:55 He wanted to be buried, 12:56 his followers wanted him to be buried 12:58 inside this beautiful church 13:00 but the government said never, never, never, 13:03 he's not worthy. 13:04 Burry him on the sidewalk and they buried him out here. 13:09 The priests of the church went out with wooden crosses 13:12 and fought the militia, 13:14 and the blood of those people flowed in the streets. 13:17 That's when we open the meetings. 13:19 But we saw the power and the glory of God. 13:23 Don't listen to people my friend who say, 13:25 it can't be done. 13:27 Don't listen to people who say, it's not possible 13:30 because we believe with God all things are possible. 13:34 We went ahead in faith. 13:36 We had tremendous opposition even after this man died. 13:40 They tried to close down the meetings every night, 13:43 but by the grace of God we carried on 13:46 and we baptized 3,530 souls 13:50 in the cold waters of Dnieper River, 13:53 glory be to God. 13:55 Can't you say with me glory be to God? 13:58 Jesus is Lord, and remember this, my friend, 14:02 there is the man who said, 14:04 the gospel will be preached over my dead body 14:08 and never forget it, Jesus Christ is Lord. 14:17 That made a tremendous impression upon me. 14:22 It gave me tremendous courage. 14:25 You know down through the years 14:27 I've had tremendous opposition. 14:32 I don't tell people about this, 14:34 but I've had tremendous opposition. 14:37 People have tried to stop me from preaching this message. 14:42 And I'm talking about people in the church. 14:47 I say to them, remember the man who said, 14:50 only over my dead body. 14:52 Don't mess with God. 14:55 Amen. 14:57 Don't try to stop, my friend. 14:59 Don't try to stop the preaching of the gospel 15:02 because it's the power of God unto salvation. 15:07 We saw the power of God. 15:10 Now, what did I find when I went there this time. 15:14 Well, I found some amazing things. 15:18 I found that the people are going through 15:20 a time of testing trial. 15:23 They're going through times of suffering. 15:26 We baptized thousands of people. 15:28 We could've baptized even more 15:31 but I went along to one place they said, 15:35 this is one of the churches that you have established. 15:41 It's got no heating. 15:43 It's a high, it's rental, rented building. 15:47 They said in winter 15:49 it's minus 10 or 15 degrees inside. 15:53 And often there is no PA and there is no electricity. 16:00 And this got a great yearning in my heart. 16:04 I said, oh, God, help me to raise some money 16:08 to get these people in out of the cold. 16:11 I've met there 16:13 the old babushkas the grandmothers. 16:16 It is now a collapsing economy, 16:19 the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. 16:22 Some have become discouraged. 16:25 Some people, some old folk say, I wonder why. 16:28 Some old folk say, I can't keep going to church 16:32 when it's minus 15 degrees, 16:36 and I can't even see the pastor. 16:40 But I want you to know that God is not finished 16:43 with those people. 16:45 And when people get discouraged, 16:48 I want them to know that there is light in darkness, 16:52 and the purpose that I went to this place 16:55 with my team is by the grace of God 16:58 to light a candle in the darkness. 17:00 It's better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. 17:04 I hear people all the time they're cursing the darkness. 17:09 Stop cursing the darkness, let's light a candle. 17:15 Now Jesus is our hope. 17:16 I want to give you just a couple of texts here. 17:19 I've always got too much material I know, 17:21 but Isaiah 60:1 and 2, 17:24 "Arise, shine, for your light has come! 17:26 And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. 17:29 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, 17:31 that's today, deep darkness the people, 17:34 but the Lord will arise upon you, 17:36 and His glory will be seen upon you." 17:38 Listen to this. Look at me. 17:41 The greatest light is still to shine forth 17:45 upon the church and upon the world. 17:48 The greatest days are still to come. 17:50 Now look at this text. 17:51 We're going to look at Psalms 27:1, Psalms 27:1, 17:57 "The Lord is my light and my salvation, 17:59 whom shall I fear? 18:02 Am I going to be afraid of somebody? 18:03 The Lord is the strength of my life, 18:06 of whom shall I be afraid?" 18:08 With God we should not be afraid of any man. 18:13 Remember the man 18:14 who said only over my dead body. 18:19 We shouldn't be afraid, my friend. 18:20 Here is another text John 14:5 and 6, 18:24 John 14:5 and 6. 18:26 Here it comes. 18:27 "Thomas said to Him, 'Lord, 18:28 we do not know where You are going, 18:31 how can we know the way?' 18:33 Poor old Thomas said. 18:34 Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, 18:37 I'm the truth, I'm the life. 18:39 No one comes to the Father except through Me.' 18:43 "Jesus is everything that we need, 18:47 and the preaching of Jesus 18:49 is the mighty power of God, I know. 18:52 So we went to Kiev with the message. 18:55 There is light, there is hope, 18:59 and there is a bright tomorrow. 19:01 And I want to say it to the television audience, 19:03 I want to say it to the beautiful studio audience, 19:06 never, never give up, never be discouraged. 19:09 The best days are still to come. 19:11 There is light and there is hope for you. 19:14 Now here is another message on location. 19:21 I'm standing here on holy ground. 19:26 This is the site of the largest baptism 19:28 in the history of Ukraine. 19:30 In the year 988 Prince Vladimir came to this place 19:34 the Dnieper River 19:36 and there he baptized the inhabitants of this land 19:39 into the Russian Orthodox Church faith. 19:43 We came 1995 and by the glory of God, 19:48 for the glory of God, by the grace of God 19:50 we baptized in this river 3,500 souls 19:55 into the faith of Jesus Christ, our blessed Lord. 20:00 This place is sacred to us. 20:03 We saw here the outpouring of the Spirit of God. 20:06 We saw the power of God revealed. 20:09 People came here who were atheists, 20:12 old communists, unbelievers, 20:15 desperate people, lonely people. 20:17 And they gave their lives to Christ. 20:20 They walked out here 20:21 into the cold waters of the Dnieper River. 20:24 Three thousand five hundred and thirty of them, 20:27 and they were baptized into the name of the Father 20:30 and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. 20:33 I want to thank you in Jesus name 20:35 for being my partner. 20:38 It would not have happened without you. 20:42 And in the name of God I say thank you, 20:46 and God bless you. 20:51 So I believe that with God, nothing is impossible. 20:56 And I can testify to the power of the gospel 21:00 and the power of Christ. 21:03 People say it's going to be wonderful day 21:05 when we see the latter rain, isn't it? 21:07 Folks, I've seen it, I've seen him. 21:11 I've seen the mighty outpouring of the Spirit of God, 21:14 but the best days I want you to know are still to come. 21:22 Over there the Carter Report team 21:24 joined forces with Hope TV Ukraine. 21:27 I'm very privileged to be associated with 3ABN here 21:31 in the United States and in Australia. 21:34 Over there we joined forces with Hope TV Ukraine. 21:38 A 148 young Ukrainian men and women, 21:42 the salt of the earth, you know how much they are paid? 21:46 Fifty dollars a week. 21:49 You say but it's poor over there. 21:51 Not as poor as that. 21:53 Many people are earning a couple of $1000 21:56 a month at least. 21:57 These young people earn or are paid $200 a month 22:03 because of the poverty of the church. 22:06 Why did we go? 22:08 We went because we wanted to do something extraordinary. 22:12 And with this television station man 22:14 by 148 of the cream of the earth, 22:18 we broadcast the message of the Lord Jesus Christ 22:22 into 6,400,000 homes. 22:28 Can you not say glory be to God? 22:31 Glory be to God. Hallelujah. 22:33 Hallelujah. 22:35 Now there is a person who came with me. 22:38 And what a blessing he was to me. 22:41 The more I preached there the stronger I got, 22:43 and I got over this curse from the Viper, 22:46 but a person who came with me was one of my dear old friend 22:50 from Australia, Dr. John Hammond 22:54 who is the director of Asian Aid, 22:58 a marvelous organization. 23:00 If you don't support it, you ought to. 23:02 So here is the message now from my friend 23:06 Dr. John Hammond. 23:08 This is John Hammond. 23:10 What a privilege it has been to work 23:12 with a Carter Report in Ukraine. 23:14 You know, I've known Pastor Carter 23:16 since he was the senior at college 23:17 and I was his junior. 23:19 And we always knew 23:20 that he was going to be an evangelist 23:22 but only eternity will reveal the extent 23:25 of this wonderful ministry. 23:28 Kiev is not an easy city to evangelize. 23:31 It is part of a society 23:33 which has been largely atheistic 23:35 and it is not always easy to be a Christian in the Ukraine. 23:39 However we have been thrilled by the response 23:42 and faithfulness of our members there, 23:44 who attended meetings 23:46 and the very large television audience 23:48 that tuned in for the programs. 23:50 Hope Channel Ukraine and the Carter Report team 23:53 works so well together, 23:55 proving that there is no language barrier 23:58 when we worship the one God. 24:01 God bless the people of Ukraine and Russia 24:03 who are waiting hopefully for the good news of salvation. 24:11 I just want to say to Dr. John Hammond. 24:14 John, you were a super, super blessing. 24:21 Got to cut some stuff out. 24:23 What was the aim in the meetings? 24:24 The aim in the meetings was to uplift Christ. 24:28 To preach the blood of Christ. 24:30 The power is in the blood of Christ. 24:33 We had extraordinary success 24:35 because we were preaching about an extraordinary Christ. 24:41 Now we would not have done it without my magnificent team, 24:47 Beverley, my great wife, 24:50 David, my son, Susan has worked with me for so long. 24:53 Her husband Javier, Don and Daniel, 24:57 Pastor Volody who is my translator, 24:59 great translator. 25:01 My daughter Leanne, John Hammond, 25:04 and this is a tough one Belatshreff Damian, 25:07 I say that wrong. 25:08 Plus a 140 young people and all our supporters 25:12 and all of our people like you. 25:15 What was the end result? 25:16 Look at the end result, Isaiah 51:11. 25:21 What a text this is, Isaiah 51, 25:24 "So the ransomed of the Lord shall return, 25:26 and come to Zion with singing, 25:28 with everlasting joy on their heads. 25:31 They shall obtain joy and gladness, 25:34 sorrow and sighing shall flee away." 25:38 Look at me. 25:40 The day is coming when sin is going to be 25:45 no more, no more pain, no more sorrow, 25:50 no more suffering, no more death, 25:54 no good byes, 25:57 because Christ our Lord is coming 26:02 and He is Lord of all. 26:05 Amen. 26:10 Hi, I'm John Carter. 26:12 My wife Beverley and I were watching television 26:14 the other night watching the news, 26:16 American news. 26:18 They told us that the church in North America 26:20 is actually shrinking. 26:22 They said that atheism is 26:23 the fastest growing religious movement today 26:26 in North America. 26:27 And people are saying, 26:29 what on earth can we do to save the church? 26:31 Well, of course Christ died for the church, 26:33 he saves the church. 26:35 But what they mean is how can we keep the church 26:37 as a vibrant force in the world today, 26:39 in Australia, in America and in Europe 26:42 and in the rest of the world? 26:43 Let me tell you a little story. 26:45 John Wesley was one of the greatest preachers 26:47 that the English speaking world has ever heard. 26:50 John Wesley came up on the scene of the church 26:53 in England a few hundred years ago 26:55 when the church was dying. 26:57 Like the church today, it was a shrinking church, 27:01 but the people in the church were in a state of denial. 27:03 They refused to accept the reality 27:06 that the church was dying. 27:07 John Wesley did something that 27:09 other people said couldn't be done. 27:11 He revived the church through public evangelism, 27:15 did you hear that?
