00:01 The Carter Report presents "Living Victoriously".
00:06 Secrets of Success 00:07 from Prime Minister Daniel of Babylon city 00:10 with your host, John Carter. 00:25 So glad to have you folks back. 00:27 This is the second part of the series, 00:29 "Living Victoriously". 00:32 We're talking today from the book of Daniel, 00:34 Daniel 1, where these young guys 00:37 were discovered to be ten times better. 00:42 We read the story 00:43 in the last part of the first program. 00:46 We had Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, 00:49 and they purposed in their hearts 00:51 that they would follow God. 00:54 And the Bible tells us that God so blessed them 00:57 that they ended up being ten times better. 01:00 And what we're trying to get across to every person today, 01:03 you folks watching on television, 01:05 to the studio audience, is this great truth 01:08 that if you and I purpose in our hearts 01:11 that we're going to do what God wants us to do, 01:14 God is going to bless us, 01:16 and we're going to be ten times better. 01:19 We're going to be victorious 01:21 and we are not going to be victims. 01:24 What I'm trying to tell you today is this, 01:26 we don't have to go through life 01:28 with a complex and say, "I'm a victim. 01:30 I was born with this sort of color, 01:33 or I was born in this society. 01:36 I was born in this country. 01:38 I was born with this deprived education. 01:42 Therefore, I can never, never get ahead." 01:44 I want you to know, with a blessing of God, 01:49 you can be ten times better 01:52 than you can even imagine you could be. 01:54 Ten times better. 01:56 And so today, what we're doing? 01:57 We're talking about living victoriously. 02:03 Never victims, always victors 02:07 and remember the great theme text is, 02:09 he purposed, this is from Daniel 1, 02:12 "He purposed in his heart 02:13 that he would not defile himself." 02:16 And the story ends up, 02:18 he's ten times better. 02:21 I told you folks in the last part of the first talk 02:26 about Desmond Doss. 02:28 He was just a boy of the farm, 02:32 just a boy from some little town 02:35 in the Midwest, 02:36 in the United States of America. 02:39 He didn't have a big education. 02:44 He didn't really come from a privileged background. 02:49 He wanted to get in the army 02:51 because he was an American patriot, 02:53 just a young guy like Daniel. 02:56 Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah 02:58 that we're reading about today in Daniel 1. 03:03 And he who got this young guy 03:05 off this farm from a troubled home, 03:08 and he purposes in his heart that he's going to follow God. 03:12 He goes in the army, and he won't carry a rifle 03:15 because of his religious convictions. 03:17 He's persecuted. 03:19 The people, the soldiers who worked with him 03:21 before he got into battle, they thought he was a weirdo 03:24 but the time came 03:25 when his battalion wouldn't go into battle 03:28 unless Doss went with them. 03:31 I guess most of you folks 03:32 have seen the movie "Hacksaw Ridge", 03:34 it's a story of a young guy 03:38 from a poor background 03:40 who became a mighty soldier for God 03:44 because he purposed in his heart. 03:46 God blessed him. 03:48 He got the Congressional Medal of Honor. 03:52 He saved on this occasion, 75 soldiers. 03:57 He was wounded four times himself. 04:00 This young Seventh-day Adventist 04:03 non-conformist 04:06 and Harry Truman gave him the highest award 04:12 that you can give, Congressional Medal of Honor. 04:21 His fellow soldiers held him almost, 04:24 you know, not almost but in awe 04:27 because of his courage and his integrity 04:32 and because he just shined like a star. 04:37 He was ten times better. 04:39 I want to say to the young people 04:40 watching the telecast today, 04:42 I want to say to our studio audience, 04:45 God can do amazing things for you 04:49 if you believe in Him 04:51 and if you purpose in your heart 04:53 and if you put God first, like Martin Luther. 04:59 Now you all know about Martin Luther 05:02 who stood before the Imperial Diet at Worms, 05:07 and Martin Luther who had purposed in his heart 05:11 that he would not defile himself. 05:15 And who was determined that he was going to follow God. 05:17 You know the story. 05:20 They tried to kill Martin Luther. 05:23 They tried to get rid of him. 05:25 The great movement got going 05:27 and that movement swept around the world. 05:30 Now I want to tell you folks something, 05:34 the people who follow the teachings of Martin Luther, 05:37 that is Sola Scriptura, only the Bible, 05:41 only Christ, only grace, only faith, those nations, 05:45 I want you to know this, they became ten times better. 05:50 I want you to know it. 05:52 They became ten times better. 05:56 Have you ever wondered this? 06:00 I don't want to sound nationalistic 06:01 but have you ever wondered this? 06:04 Why does America have an immigration problem? 06:07 Russia doesn't. 06:11 People are not lined up beating down the walls. 06:14 They don't have to build a wall around Russia, folks, 06:16 people are trying to get out. 06:19 But people have been coming to America 06:22 for a long, long, long time. 06:24 You know why? 06:25 Because this nation was founded on the teachings, 06:29 this is controversial. 06:31 It is the truth. 06:33 This nation was not founded by atheists. 06:36 It was founded by people who believed in the Bible. 06:39 And they believed in Sola Christus, only Christ, 06:43 only scripture, only grace. 06:45 Why do you think they're trying to get up from Latin America 06:49 and everywhere else? 06:51 Why are they talking about building this big wall? 06:55 And not trying to do that in Russia? 06:57 They're doing it because people have realized 07:00 that this country has got something better 07:03 and it's got something better 07:05 because it was founded upon the teachings of the Bible. 07:10 This is the truth. 07:11 I know there are lots of secular people now 07:13 in the United States of America 07:15 and they're trying to do away with America's heritage. 07:18 We don't believe this stuff. 07:21 Listen, this country has been better 07:26 because it was founded upon a better foundation. 07:32 And that's why people have come here. 07:34 That's why it's been ten times better. 07:37 Because, now this is very politically incorrect 07:40 but so be it, 07:42 because it was founded as a Protestant country. 07:50 You all heard of Abraham, 07:52 you know the story of Abraham, 07:54 and we're talking about living victoriously, 07:56 being ten times better, 07:59 and we're going to go along to Abraham. 08:00 Here comes Abraham. 08:01 Here he is. 08:03 You know the story of Abraham. 08:05 Now God called him out of a barren part of the world. 08:10 Told him to go into a place by faith 08:13 and then, he had a lot of trials 08:16 and one of the biggest trials, 08:17 he was told to offer up his son, Isaac. 08:21 But you know the story of Abraham. 08:23 Abraham purposed in his heart, 08:25 whatever God told him to do, he's going to do. 08:31 Now you can be like most people in the world, 08:33 you can say, "I'm just going to go with the crowd." 08:37 The crowd stands for mediocrity. 08:43 The crowd put Christ on the cross, 08:46 don't forget it. 08:49 But the people whom God has blessed in this world 08:52 have been individuals who stood up for God 08:56 and for what they believe in. 08:58 Martin Luther, Desmond Doss, 09:00 Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, 09:04 and this man here. 09:07 And the Bible tells us something about this man. 09:09 If you come over here to Hebrews 11:12, 09:14 please come over here to Hebrews 11:12. 09:20 The Bible says, "Therefore from one man, 09:26 and him as good as dead, 09:32 from a man as good as dead, 09:34 were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude 09:39 innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore." 09:46 You know, God provided a lamb in the place of his son Isaac. 09:52 But here is a man, 09:54 almost a better one. 09:57 Nobody would have known anything about him. 10:02 But because Abraham decided 10:05 that he would follow God 10:10 and stand up for God 10:11 because he purposed in his heart. 10:14 And because he was not a mediocre conformist, 10:21 like most folks. 10:23 God blessed him. 10:25 He became the father of the faithful. 10:28 Millions and millions of children. 10:30 The Muslims look to him. 10:33 The Jews look to him, they call him "Father." 10:36 The Christians look back to him. 10:41 God didn't bless him ten times, 10:42 God blessed him a million times. 10:44 What am I trying to tell you, folks? 10:46 If you purpose in your heart like Daniel, 10:49 these three young guys, 10:51 if you decide to step out of the crowd and to follow God, 10:55 that is going to bless you. 10:57 He's gonna make you ten times better. 11:00 You know the story of Jacob and Laban. 11:05 Laban was a tight-fisted beggar. 11:11 Laban with just a tight, 11:14 just a tight, and mean, nasty sort of person 11:20 and here's Jacob, 11:22 who later was called Israel, Prince of God. 11:25 He's working for him. 11:27 And this mean old Laban, 11:31 he's got the meanest streak, 11:33 he's got the streak of the camel in him. 11:35 So mean. 11:37 He changes his wages ten times, 11:40 the Bible said, "Ten times." 11:44 Jacob says, "I've had it, I'm going to leave." 11:47 Laban says, "Y'all, just stay. 11:50 Name your wages." 11:52 Well, he said, 11:53 "No, I don't want you to pay me anything, 11:55 just let me pass through your flock 11:59 and let me take out the ones that are speckled. 12:03 The ones that are brown 12:05 and the ones that are striped, 12:08 let me have those." 12:09 Laban says, "This is the deal of deals." 12:13 He said, "I don't want those things. 12:14 Anyhow you're going to have them, 12:16 you take them all." 12:19 And so he gets the deformed ones, 12:24 the sick ones. 12:26 And he gets the blessing of God. 12:28 You know what happened? 12:31 When Jacob says, "You're going to have those sort of sheep, 12:34 those goats." 12:35 They multiply like crazy. 12:38 Then he changes the wages ten times, 12:40 he says, "No, I made a mistake, 12:41 you can have those sheep and those goats," 12:44 and they multiply ten times. 12:48 Jacob has his name changed a bit later on. 12:51 It's changed from Jacob, the Supplanter, 12:54 and he becomes Israel, the Prince of God. 12:57 No, he's not ten times better, thousand times better. 13:01 Why? 13:02 Because God blessed him. 13:04 Because he purposed in his heart. 13:06 I want you to come over here if you don't mind, please. 13:08 Genesis 30 13:10 and we're going to read a few texts there 13:12 in the book of Genesis. 13:13 Genesis 30:30, 13:18 where it talks about the man who became ten times better. 13:23 "For what you had before I came was little, 13:27 it has increased to a great amount, 13:31 the Lord has blessed you since my coming," 13:34 If you can get a person who believes in God, 13:37 you better get that person on side, 13:40 you see, better employ that person. 13:42 "And now, 'when shall I also provide 13:47 for my own house?' 13:48 So he said, 'What shall I give you?' 13:50 And Jacob said, 'You shall not give me anything. 13:54 If you will do this thing for me, 13:56 I will again feed and keep your flocks. 13:59 Let me pass through all your flock today, 14:02 removing from there all the speckled 14:04 and spotted sheep, 14:05 and all the brown ones among the lambs, 14:08 and the spotted and speckled among the goats, 14:12 and these shall be my wages.'" 14:15 Give me the losers. 14:17 "Thus the man became exceedingly prosperous, 14:22 and had large flocks, female and male servants, 14:27 and camels and donkeys." 14:31 How do you figure that out? 14:34 He got that which nobody else wanted. 14:39 And look at me, 14:41 if you don't understand this principle, 14:44 it's because you don't know about God. 14:48 But if you understand this principle, 14:50 your life is going to be changed. 14:54 The blessing of God makes rich. 15:01 Now I can give a testimony. 15:02 I wasn't planning to, but I'm going to give it. 15:07 The Carter Report 15:08 is not the biggest ministry in the world, 15:11 but God has blessed us. 15:14 Ten times, ten times, ten times, 15:16 ten times, ten times, ten times. 15:20 Yeah, we've been able to do stuff 15:22 that other people can't do. 15:24 That wealthy organizations can't do, 15:27 they just, they say, 15:28 "We can't do it, it's impossible." 15:34 They say, "We don't have the money." 15:36 We say, "We don't have it 15:38 but we serve the God with the money. 15:39 We serve the person with the money. 15:42 We serve the man with the money." 15:46 I had a person come into my office 15:48 here in Moorpark, little while ago. 15:50 He's a big American businessman. 15:53 He said, "You must be a good businessman." 15:55 I said, "I'm not a businessman at all, 15:59 I'm flat at being a pastor." 16:02 He said, "How can you pay? 16:05 How do you pay for all of this? 16:07 How can you run these huge big evangelistic campaigns?" 16:11 I said, "Because I believe in the God 16:14 who makes us ten times better. 16:17 He blesses us." 16:20 Like He blessed in the last program. 16:23 Dr Hammond, how He blessed the doctor? 16:26 Ten times better. 16:28 Abraham, how He blessed? 16:30 Daniel, became the Prime minister. 16:33 You know what our problem is? 16:35 We don't have enough faith. 16:36 Most of us are just talk. 16:39 You know what I'm saying? Most of us just talk. 16:43 But God wants to make you ten times better. 16:46 God's blessing will make you ten times better. 16:48 Look at this. 16:49 God's blessing will make you ten times better. 16:52 Then there was Joseph. 16:54 You know the story of Joseph? 16:55 He was a bit like Daniel. 16:58 His brothers got jealous of him. 17:01 Joseph was a bit uppity, 17:03 you know, he started to tell them more stories 17:06 about people bowing down to him, 17:08 that got them a bit mad, 17:09 so they threw him in a pit. 17:12 And then they sold him to some people 17:14 going down to the land of Egypt. 17:17 Then he got a job 17:19 with a man by the name of Mr. Potiphar. 17:24 And when he got into that place, 17:26 this young guy was so blessed 17:28 that the whole household was blessed. 17:32 So I tell you, 17:34 I want to take people into my organization 17:37 like that person because when they come in, 17:39 they'll bring a blessing. 17:41 I don't want somebody coming in who's going to bring a cursing. 17:45 I want somebody who comes with a blessing. 17:48 So God blessed out of his house. 17:53 But you know the old story. 17:55 There is a woman involved. 17:59 And the Bible says, 18:00 "This young man was handsome 18:04 and she was wicked." 18:09 And she tried to seduce him because she said, 18:12 'This young guy is ten times better.'" 18:16 And he had nothing to do with her, 18:18 he ran away. 18:21 Left his cloak 18:23 which was not probably the best thing to do. 18:25 Left his cloak and when Mr. Potiphar got down, 18:28 out she came and she said, 18:30 "This Hebrew servant that you brought in, 18:32 he tried to rape me." 18:33 So, poor young Joseph, he's just a boy, 18:40 hasn't got white hair like me. 18:45 So they throw him in prison, he's there for years. 18:48 Bad things happen to good people. 18:54 You don't complain 18:55 because something bad happens to you, 18:56 that's a lot of people. 18:58 Life wasn't meant to be easy. 18:59 Life wasn't meant to make us into crybabies. 19:03 Hear what I'm saying? 19:04 God doesn't want crybabies. 19:08 God is breeding man, 19:10 you know what I'm saying? 19:11 And ladies too. 19:14 So he's in prison there for years. 19:17 Then a couple of guys get thrown there from the king, 19:22 the baker, and the butler. 19:24 You know the story, and they have these dreams. 19:29 You can't keep a good man down. 19:31 So Joseph interprets the dreams but when the man, 19:35 the butler, when he gets back into the King, 19:38 back to Pharaoh, back to the King's palace, 19:40 he forgets all about this young guy in the prison. 19:44 But God didn't forget him. 19:47 Then the King has a dream. 19:49 You know the dream, Pharaoh. 19:51 Pharaoh has a dream, Pharaoh has a dream 19:54 and he dreams about the fat sheep 19:57 and the skinny sheep. 20:00 You know the story. 20:01 Dreams about this dream. 20:04 And then the butler gets over his amnesia 20:08 and he says, "When I was a bad man 20:11 and I was in prison, 20:12 I met there a young guy by the name of Joseph." 20:17 And the King says, "Bring him to me." 20:20 So they shave him. 20:22 Make him clean, 20:24 and put some deodorant on him. 20:28 And they bring him into the palace 20:30 and the Bible tells, 20:32 Joseph becomes 20:35 the Prime Minister of Egypt. 20:40 Amazing, 20:43 and he saves the world 20:45 because he feeds them the bread of life. 20:50 Amazing, not ten times better, hundred times better. 20:54 What's wrong with some of us? 20:56 Living such little tiny sniffling lives 21:00 because we don't have any faith. 21:04 There's a text, talks about this, 21:07 Joseph, bit later on meets up with his brothers, 21:11 Genesis 41:41-43, 21:15 "Pharaoh said to Joseph," 21:17 going back a little bit, we're gonna read it though. 21:18 "'See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt.' 21:21 Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand 21:25 and put it on Joseph's hand, 21:27 he clothed him in garments of fine linen, 21:30 put a gold chain around his neck. 21:32 Had him ride in the second chariot 21:35 which he had, 21:36 and they cried out before him, 'Bow the knee!' 21:41 'Bow the knee!' 21:42 So he set him over all the land of Egypt." 21:45 Prime Minister, next to Pharaoh. 21:48 And then a little bit later, he meets his brothers, 21:53 and that, the brothers who had done him in. 21:56 Genesis 50:20-21. 21:59 Genesis 50, he says to his brothers, 22:02 "'But as for you, you meant evil against me, 22:06 but God meant it for good, 22:09 in order to bring it about as it is this day, 22:12 to save many people alive. 22:14 Now therefore, do not be afraid, 22:19 I will provide for you and your little ones.' 22:23 And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them." 22:28 You know what he said? 22:30 He didn't say, "I got lucky." 22:32 He says, "You meant evil. God made it for good." 22:37 People can mean evil to you, 22:42 doesn't matter. 22:44 God can make you ten times better, 22:47 ten times better. 22:49 They can mean evil, 22:50 but God can turn the evil into good. 22:52 It's happened in my own life. 22:56 One of my favorite characters is Moses, 23:00 you know, Charlton Heston played Moses. 23:03 My sister said Charlton Heston was more Moses than Moses. 23:08 But there was Moses 23:11 in the cart of the great Pharaoh. 23:17 I've studied this period in Egyptian history, 23:19 I know it pretty well, I know all the Pharaohs. 23:22 I've met quite a few of them face to face. 23:26 I've been into the Cairo museum, 23:30 the great Cairo museum 23:32 and I have been into the Royal Mummy Room 23:38 with my team, with Dr. Hawass, 23:43 the great director of antiquities 23:46 for the land of Egypt. 23:48 I was in suitable company. 23:51 And when I was there, 23:54 I went and I looked at my old friend, 23:58 Ramesses the Great. 24:03 And I saw, they say, people said, 24:05 "Are these the real guys?" 24:07 Yeah, they're the real guys. 24:08 Fair dinkum, true-blue, they're the real guys. 24:13 I saw also there, 24:15 Hatshepsut, possibly the foster mother of Moses, 24:19 Ahmose, Thutmose III, 24:22 the great Pharaoh who said, "I will not let Israel go." 24:27 But I never saw Moses. 24:29 He could have been the Pharaoh. 24:31 But Pharaoh Moses as he could have been 24:35 is not in the Cairo museum, he's in heaven today. 24:42 You know why? 24:45 Like Daniel, purposed in his heart... 24:51 like Abraham, purposed in his heart, 24:56 "I will serve God." 24:59 And he did. 25:01 And Moses is not ten times better, 25:06 he's a trillion, trillion, trillion times better 25:09 and those young Hebrew men back in the days of Nebuchadnezzar, 25:15 one of them eventually 25:17 became the Prime Minister of Babylon. 25:23 His friends became 25:25 Secretary for this foreign affairs, 25:30 person in charge of HUD, and Minister of Defense. 25:36 Ten times better. 25:40 Do not sell yourself short. 25:41 Some of you are selling yourself short. 25:45 You are not reaching your potential. 25:48 God wants to bless you. 25:52 God has called us not to failure. 25:56 God has called us to greatness. 26:01 With the blessing of God, 26:03 His people are ten times better. 26:09 Amen. 26:17 Hi, there. I'm John Carter in Havana, Cuba. 26:20 This is communist fortress. 26:22 We are here to preach the gospel of Christ 26:24 to the public 26:25 but more than this, 26:27 we are running a School of Evangelism 26:29 and Biblical Studies for the Cuban pastors, 26:34 140 pastors coming 26:36 from right across this wonderful island 26:40 and they're coming to join with us, 26:41 to study how best 26:43 we can meet the needs of the Cuban people. 26:47 The Cuban people are just the most wonderful people. 26:50 They're warm and friendly, 26:52 and I'm amazed that in the meetings every night 26:55 that we are taking, 26:56 that I think most of the people there, 26:59 are young people. 27:01 Now, of course, when I say, young people, 27:02 I mean people up to say, 35 years of age. 27:07 They're young to me, but they're so warm, 27:10 and they're so receptive, 27:12 and when they come forward night by night to accept Jesus, 27:15 they come with tremendous sincerity, 27:18 so what a privilege it is to be here 27:20 in the land of Cuba. 27:23 But remember to pray for the pastors, 27:26 140 pastors are coming from Guantanamo Bay 27:31 and other places right across this island nation. 27:34 They're coming to join forces with us. 27:36 Think of this, they're coming from Guantanamo Bay 27:40 and everywhere, we're going to meet with them, 27:43 study with them, pray with them, 27:45 to devise the best means of reaching this nation 27:50 for the Lord Jesus Christ, 27:52 and thank you for being my special partner. 28:19 For a copy of today's program, 28:21 please contact us at PO Box 1900, 28:24 Thousand Oaks, California, 91358 28:28 or in Australia, contact us at PO Box 861, 28:34 Terrigal, New South Wales, 2260. 28:38 This program is made possible 28:40 through the generous support of viewers like you. 28:43 We thank you for your continued support. 28:46 May God richly bless you. |
