Thanks for having me. 00:31 We're talking today about Living Victoriously. 00:34 We've had a series of meetings running. 00:36 This is number 10 in the series. 00:39 And if you've missed any of the previous series 00:41 on Living Victoriously, 00:44 you can get a DVD of today's program 00:46 or last week's program, 00:48 or else you can watch us online at the cartereport. 00:51 You can see it now on the screen 00:52 how you can watch our DVDs and our programs. 00:56 But today's program is a last one, 00:59 the last series in Living Victoriously, 01:02 10 in the series. 01:04 This is number 10. 01:05 And the topic today is, this is a red hot topic, 01:09 it's quite amazing, it's called "Angels, Demons, 01:15 and the Last Word". 01:17 The Bible teaches that there are angels 01:21 and there are demons. 01:24 We're looking today in the series 01:26 of Daniel 10, 11, and 12. 01:32 Listen to this transforming truth. 01:35 Here it is, you can be... 01:37 This is really the theme of the whole series. 01:40 You can be 10 times better because you are a child of God 01:46 and you have supernatural beings 01:49 working for you. 01:50 You have angel on your side. 01:54 This is quite amazing. 01:55 Supernatural beings 01:57 and you've got angels on your side. 02:00 We're going to turn in the holy scriptures 02:02 to Daniel... 02:04 Let me see, Daniel 10:1-3. 02:08 If you've got a Bible sitting here 02:10 in the Carter Report studio, 02:12 I want you to come to Daniel 10. 02:17 We've got a long way to go today, 02:19 we've got a lot of material. 02:21 Daniel 10:1-3. 02:25 You folks ready? 02:26 "In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia..." 02:29 This is an historical statement. 02:32 "A message was revealed to Daniel, 02:34 whose name was Belteshazzar. 02:37 The message was true, 02:39 but the appointed time was long." 02:41 Another translation says, 02:43 it was a revelation of a great conflict. 02:47 "And he understood the message, 02:48 and had understanding of the vision. 02:51 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. 02:55 I ate no pleasant food, 02:57 no meat or wine came into my mouth, 03:01 nor did I anoint myself at all, 03:04 till three whole weeks were fulfilled." 03:08 Now some people tell me that 03:10 life is great just all the time. 03:13 You should never have a bad day. 03:15 But Daniel was having a bad three weeks. 03:19 The Bible tells us he was mourning, 03:21 he didn't eat a lot of food, 03:23 and the Bible says, it went on for three weeks. 03:26 And the question is, 03:28 what was happening to the prophet of God 03:30 that he was having this dreadful time. 03:33 Let me tell you. 03:35 The news out of Jerusalem was bad news. 03:39 He was now 90 years of age 03:43 and things were not getting easier. 03:47 He was probably suffering from a bit of arthritis. 03:51 But that wasn't the real reason he was feeling pretty bad. 03:57 The news from his city of Jerusalem 04:00 because Daniel was a Jew, 04:02 the news for the Jews could not be worse. 04:06 Like turning on the TV today, turning on CNN 04:10 or some other channel on all the time, 04:12 it seems to be bad news. 04:14 And the text in the Hebrew says, 04:17 "It concerned a great war." 04:21 And so there was a tremendous war going on, 04:25 and because the war didn't seem to be going to good 04:28 for the Jewish people offer Daniel, 04:30 he was mourning for three full weeks. 04:36 I want to tell you something 04:37 which is quite extraordinary really. 04:39 The Bible teaches there is an unseen world 04:46 of supernatural beings. 04:50 Have you heard of a dark matter, 04:54 dark matter, dark energy? 04:57 This is not just speculation. 05:00 Scientists know today that 95% of the universe 05:06 is unseen not because we don't have telescopes 05:11 and not because we don't have good enough optics, 05:14 it's because 95% of the universe 05:18 is made up of stuff that is as real as this desk 05:24 but it can't be seen. 05:27 It's actually called dark matter and dark energy. 05:33 It is relatively a recent discovery. 05:38 So when you look out at the stars in space, 05:43 when you see a billions and billions 05:46 of island galaxies, 05:48 when you see the trillions 05:52 of suns, moons, stars, 05:56 and the billions of vast galaxies, 05:59 this is about 5% of what is out there. 06:05 All between these galaxies that you can see on the screen, 06:09 you've got stuff that is called dark matter. 06:13 We know it is there because it influences gravity. 06:19 It is dark energy that drives the expansion of the universe. 06:24 It is one of the reasons we are here today 06:28 that there is a world out there that cannot be seen. 06:33 Listen, we cannot see God, but He exists. 06:39 We cannot see angels, but they exists. 06:45 Maybe they're made up of stuff like dark matter, dark energy. 06:49 Have you heard the story of the old Christian 06:51 who was talking to the great skeptic? 06:53 The skeptic said to him laughing at the old Christians, 06:57 he said, "Tell me, my friend, have you ever seen God, 07:02 like I can see you, like you can see me? 07:05 Have you ever seen God?" No he said. 07:08 He said, "Feel my hand, have you ever felt God 07:11 just like you can feel my hand?" 07:13 He said, "Feel my hand." 07:14 He said, "If you've ever felt God?" 07:16 "No, no. Yes, I haven't." 07:17 "Well, maybe you've heard God. 07:20 Have you ever heard God?" He said, "No, no, I haven't." 07:24 Well, said the skeptic, "I'm sorry for you, 07:26 if you haven't seen God, if you haven't heard God, 07:30 and if you haven't felt God, it's because there is no God, 07:33 I'm sorry for you, the evidence is against you." 07:38 The old man said, well he said, 07:41 "May I ask you a question or two." 07:45 He said, "Have you ever seen your brain?" 07:52 Skeptic said, "Don't be crazy." 07:54 No, no, he said, "I'm serious. 07:55 Have you ever seen your brain just like I can see you?" 08:00 Be honest, have you seen your brain? 08:02 No, God. No. 08:04 Well maybe, he said, feel my hand. 08:07 Have you ever felt your brain? 08:09 Feel my hand, have you ever felt your brain? 08:13 He said, "Of course not." 08:14 He said then, "Have you ever heard your brain 08:17 just like you can hear my voice. 08:19 Have you heard your brain?" He said, "Of course not." 08:22 Well, the old Christian said, "I'm very, very sorry for you, 08:25 then the evidence is against you." 08:28 Now listen to me. 08:30 Listen to me, God cannot be seen with the eyes, 08:36 He cannot be heard, 08:38 He cannot be felt as we feel the hand, 08:44 but He exists. 08:48 Now God gives to Daniel 08:51 a vision of the divine Logos, 08:55 the pre-incarnate Son of God. 08:59 And you can read this in Daniel 10:4-6. 09:04 "Now on the twenty-fourth day of the first month, 09:07 as I was by the side of the great river, 09:09 that is, the Tigris, 09:11 I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, 09:14 a certain man clothed in linen, 09:16 whose waist was girded with gold of Uphazi! 09:20 His body was like beryl, 09:22 his face like the appearance of lightning, 09:24 his eyes like torches of fire, 09:26 his arms and feet like burnished bronze in color, 09:30 and the sound of his words 09:33 like the voice of a multitude." 09:41 When he is feeling at his lowest, 09:46 God reveals to him 09:50 a picture of the self existent 09:54 almighty God. 09:57 And He appears in great glory. 10:04 You know why? 10:07 So when things seem to be at their worst, 10:10 we will not be overcome by the senses. 10:14 And we will know in our hearts and in our souls 10:18 that God is alive. 10:21 This is a similar picture to what you read 10:23 in Revelation 1:14-18. 10:27 "His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, 10:33 and His eyes like a flame of fire, 10:36 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, 10:41 and His voice as the sound of many waters, 10:46 He had in His right hand seven stars, 10:50 out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword..." 10:52 This is symbolic. 10:54 "And His countenance was like the sun 10:56 shining in its strength. 10:58 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet 11:00 as though I was dead. 11:03 But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, 11:06 'Do not be afraid, I am the First and the Last. 11:09 I am He who lives, and was dead..." 11:12 This is Christ. 11:14 "Behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen. 11:17 And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.'" 11:24 Cannot see Him today, 11:25 you cannot hear His voice today. 11:29 Literally, cannot touch Him, 11:33 but He is alive. 11:37 And Daniel is given 11:41 tremendous gift of a vision 11:44 whereby he can see beyond this wail of tears 11:48 and he can see almighty God in all his power. 11:53 And what is the message we can get from this Daniel, 11:56 here it is, "Fear not, 11:58 don't be afraid of circumstances, 12:01 don't be afraid of the attorney 12:03 who's trying to steal your house. 12:05 Don't be afraid of the person who's trying to do you in. 12:08 God is alive, nothing is too hard for Him. 12:13 And Bible prophecy teaches that there is great battle 12:18 going on between good and evil, 12:20 between Christ and Satan, 12:23 between good angels and demons." 12:28 And some say, some theologian have said, 12:30 this is the most remarkable chapter in the Bible 12:33 because the veil is drawn aside. 12:38 And we can see in the governance of men 12:42 a tremendous warfare going on between 12:46 the powers of light and the demons of darkness. 12:51 Maybe also in your life, 12:54 maybe in your home, every person is involved. 13:00 And If you look at Daniel 10:10-12, 13:04 here comes another supernatural being. 13:07 Daniel 10, verses, 13:11 let me see 10-12. 13:15 "Suddenly, a hand touched me, 13:17 which made me tremble on my knees 13:19 and on the palms of my hands. 13:21 He said to me, 'O Daniel, man greatly beloved, 13:24 understand the words that I speak to you, 13:26 and stand upright for I have been sent to you.' 13:30 When, while he was speaking this word to me, 13:34 I stood trembling." 13:36 And then the next verse says, "Then he said to me, 13:39 'Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day 13:43 that you set your heart to understand 13:46 and to humble yourself before your God, 13:48 Your words were heard, and I have come 13:52 because of your words.'" 13:54 Now the first being that is seen in this vision 13:58 is none other than Christ, the risen Christ. 14:02 The Christ who was Lord of lords, 14:05 King of kings, 14:06 but now another person comes upon the scene 14:09 and this person is not Christ, 14:12 but this person is sent by Christ. 14:16 And this person we know from other passages 14:19 in the Book of Daniel is the mighty angel Gabriel 14:23 who took the place of Lucifer, the leader of the demons. 14:29 And so Christ eternal Logos 14:34 sends Gabriel down to this earth 14:37 to explain some things to the prophet. 14:40 He is not Christ, but he is still a mighty being. 14:46 And if you look at Daniel 10:12, 13, amazing words. 14:52 "Then he said to me..." This is Gabriel talking. 14:55 "Do not fear Daniel, for from the first day 14:57 that you set your heart to understand, 15:00 and to humble yourself before your God, 15:02 your words were heard, 15:04 and I have come because of your words." 15:07 Look at these words, quite astounding. 15:09 "But the price of the kingdom of Persia..." 15:13 A demon, a demon. 15:17 "But the prince of the kingdom of Persia 15:19 withstood me twenty-one days, and behold, Michael..." 15:23 Another name for Christ. 15:24 "One of the chief princes came to help me, 15:28 for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia." 15:34 There was a tremendous battle going on 15:38 in the kingdom of Persia. 15:41 And standing behind the king of Persia 15:45 was this demonic being. 15:50 Is this astounding. 15:53 You sometimes wonder what's going on in the affairs 15:56 of the kingdoms of men today. 15:58 There seems to be a tremendous controversy, 16:01 a tremendous warfare, the Bible tells me, 16:04 "Standing behind the king of Persia, 16:08 trying to persuade him, 16:11 and twist his mind was a demon." 16:20 And Gabriel came down, he said, "I've been fighting him 16:24 and I have been struggling with him." 16:27 Let me say it again. 16:30 There's a power behind the throne of Persia. 16:34 The prince of the kingdom of Persia is a demonic being, 16:40 some brothers wonder why things go bad in governments. 16:46 A demonic being who work to frustrate God's plans 16:49 and purposes for the Persian nation 16:53 whom God had appointed to release God's people, 16:56 the Jews. 16:59 This helps you to understand 17:00 why Daniel had been mourning for three weeks. 17:03 God had appointed this man, 17:05 the leader of the Persians to set the Jewish people free. 17:12 But if our eyes could be opened, 17:17 if we only had a spiritual insight, 17:20 if our eyes could be opened we would understand 17:25 that there are not only righteous spirits, 17:29 there are evil spirits. 17:33 And the whole world and America 17:36 and you and I are involved in a battle 17:40 that involves good angels and bad angels. 17:47 And this is a war for the control of the minds 17:54 of men and women. 17:57 You want to know where the real battle 17:59 is being fought. 18:01 The real battle is being fought in America 18:06 in the mind. 18:09 The battle goes on, it is a battle for the mind 18:14 and for the souls of men and women. 18:19 The Bible teaches in this chapter 18:21 and in other passages 18:23 that there are good angels led by Christ 18:27 and there are evil angels. 18:30 Would you please look at Daniel 10:18-21? 18:36 "Then again the one having the likeness of a man 18:40 touched me and strengthened me..." 18:42 This is Gabriel. 18:44 "And he said, 'O man, greatly beloved, fear not! 18:46 Peace be to you, be strong, yes, be strong!' 18:51 So when he spoke to me I was strengthened, and said, 18:55 'Let my Lord speak, for you have strengthened me.' 18:58 Then he said, 'Do you know why I have come to you? 19:04 And now I must return to fight with the prince of Persia..." 19:08 This demon behind the king of Persia. 19:12 "And when I have gone forth, 19:14 indeed the prince of Greece will come, 19:18 and evil angel who was sent to persuade 19:21 the minds of the kings of Greece." 19:24 Verse 21. 19:26 But now I will tell you what is noted 19:27 in the Scripture of Truth. 19:29 No one upholds me against these, 19:31 except Michael your prince.'" 19:34 Oh, Christ, this is my friend 19:38 and inside look at the struggle that goes on 19:43 as God seeks to influence earthly rulers 19:47 to do good to his people. 19:49 The Bible teaches that God will ultimately prevail 19:53 but until that time the war goes on. 19:57 Now I want you to come over here 19:59 to Luke 8:27 onwards. 20:02 And this is a text that backs up what I'm saying. 20:04 This is an experience that Jesus had. 20:08 "When Jesus stepped ashore, 20:11 he was met by a demon-possessed man 20:14 from the town." 20:16 Look at me, I want to tell you. 20:19 I believe that the demons have been unleashed 20:23 upon the world. 20:25 I believe it. 20:28 I believe the dot of the bottomless pit 20:31 has been opened and the demons are coming out. 20:35 "For a long time this man had not worn clothes 20:38 or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs. 20:41 When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, 20:46 shouting at the top of his voice, 20:48 'What do you want with me, Jesus. 20:50 Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don't torture me!' 20:54 But Jesus had commanded the impure spirit, the demon, 20:59 to come out of the man. 21:01 Many times it had seized him, 21:04 and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, 21:09 he had broken his chains 21:11 and had been driven by the demon 21:13 into solitary places. 21:16 Jesus asked him, 'What is your name?' 21:21 And here is the Almighty God, 21:23 the Logos come down to this earth. 21:26 The demons replied 'Legion, he replied, 21:28 because many demons had gone into him. 21:32 And I begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them 21:35 to go into the Abyss. 21:37 A large herd of pigs was feeding there 21:39 on the hillside. 21:40 The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs, 21:43 and he gave them permission. 21:44 When the demons came out of the man, 21:46 they went into the pigs, 21:48 and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake 21:51 and was drowned... 21:54 And the people went out to see what had happened. 21:56 When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom 22:00 the demons had gone sitting at Jesus' feet, 22:05 dressed and in his right mind, and they were afraid." 22:10 If you believe in God, and if you believe in Jesus, 22:17 and if you believe in the words of the Bible, 22:21 then you will believe in good angels and evil angels. 22:27 And the great battle that is going on today 22:30 in America and in the world 22:33 is a battle for the minds 22:36 of men and women. 22:40 Now the Bible teaches 22:46 that Christ is Lord over the demons. 22:53 This one is over my, 22:55 I'll let you just for a moment today, 22:57 we got so much to talk about today. 23:00 I'm gonna talk about chapter 11, chapter 12. 23:03 But I see things going on in the world today. 23:07 And you say there's got to be something behind the scenes, 23:13 there's got to be a real war going on... 23:15 There's a war going on, 23:17 but the good news today is this, 23:20 Christ is Lord over the demons. 23:24 And He is going to win. 23:28 And it doesn't matter what the problem is 23:30 in your life if you trust in Jesus, 23:35 Jesus is going to win the battle in your life. 23:39 And that's why I want to say to you today, 23:41 we need to take Christ into our hearts. 23:45 We need to have Christ in our homes. 23:49 And we need to have Christ 23:51 in the United States of America. 23:58 Now we're going to take you to Daniel 11. 24:01 We've got a lot of stuff to push in today. 24:04 So would you please come with me to Daniel 11?
