00:01 I'm John Carter in Moscow...
00:02 Now in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. 00:04 I'm John Carter in Petra... 00:06 Reporting from India... 00:08 In Columbia. 00:09 I'm John Carter. 00:11 Today on the Carter Report, 00:13 John Carter talks about 00:15 how to make America really great again. 00:21 I'm so glad to welcome you here today. 00:25 And especially glad to welcome you viewers, 00:28 not only on 3ABN 00:30 because it goes right around the globe, 00:32 but our viewers on Fox in Washington DC. 00:37 The topic is a red-hot one. 00:39 There it is, how to make America great again? 00:42 But how to make America really, really, and truly great again? 00:48 I'm going to start with the text out of the Bible, 00:51 and I'd like you to take your Bible please 00:53 in the studio here today because you all got Bibles. 00:56 What a great TV audience you are. 00:58 So thank you for coming. 00:59 I want you to come with me over here 01:01 to the Book of Proverbs 14:34. 01:07 Proverbs 14:34, 01:11 the wisest man 01:12 who has ever lived said these words, 01:14 "Righteousness exalts a nation, 01:18 but sin is a reproach to any people." 01:25 What on earth does that mean? 01:26 "Righteousness exalts nation." 01:28 It means the goodness of God, 01:31 the goodness of God working inside us 01:34 makes a nation great, 01:36 but sin pulls the nation down to the gates of hell. 01:40 It means this that if you obey God's laws, 01:45 you will be blessed, 01:47 you will be the head and not the tail. 01:53 Let me mention the great contradiction 01:55 as far as I see it. 01:57 I believe in making America truly great again, 02:01 but I believe that America is already great. 02:05 I believe that America is a great country. 02:08 Why do people come to America? 02:12 My daughter Julie works up in the Bay area, 02:15 and she's working now with some refugees 02:18 and they've come from Afghanistan. 02:21 And they're just a beautiful family 02:24 that arrived here. 02:26 They've got nothing, 02:27 but it's not going to stay that way. 02:29 And so we're giving them just a little bit of help, 02:33 but people come here 02:34 because it's better here than in most places. 02:39 Emma Lazarus, have you heard of her? 02:42 Emma Lazarus. 02:43 She said these words, 02:45 "Give me your tired, your poor, 02:48 your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. 02:53 The refuge refuse of your teeming shore. 02:58 Send these the homeless, 03:01 tempest tossed to me: 03:03 I lift my lamp beside the golden door." 03:09 Isn't that tremendous words? 03:11 That to me sort of sums up 03:12 what America has been 03:14 about written by Emma Lazarus in 1883. 03:19 She was a Jewish lady, 03:22 and as you all know the Jews 03:24 have made a tremendous contribution 03:26 to the United States of America. 03:28 Some of my best friends are Jews. 03:31 I love the Jewish people. 03:33 America for many years 03:35 has been a beacon of hope to the world. 03:39 John McCain went out a few months ago to Australia 03:43 and spoke to the parliament and he said these words, 03:46 I'm a bit of a fan also of John McCain. 03:48 Great American, great patriot, he said, "Don't give up on us. 03:55 He said we are going through a very difficult, 03:59 very divisive time." 04:00 But he said, "We have fought together, 04:03 the Australians and the Americans have fought 04:05 and bled together in every war in the last 100 years." 04:09 No other country can say that. 04:11 So he said to the Australians, "Don't give up on us." 04:17 You know, the Declaration of Independence, 04:19 it's a good reason not to give up on America. 04:22 The Declaration of Independence, 04:24 "We hold these truths to be self-evident 04:29 that all men are created equal. 04:34 They are endowed by their Creator 04:37 with certain unalienable rights, 04:40 among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." 04:46 Pretty good stuff, isn't it? 04:48 So every person has made... 04:50 This wonderful declaration says, 04:53 "Made by God and given certain gifts." 04:57 I believe this, that was said of course in 1776. 05:00 I believe that you can achieve and accomplish more in America 05:04 than most other countries. 05:08 And I have visited most other countries, 05:11 all things being equal. 05:14 I love the words 05:16 of the great president of the United States 05:18 that shot down in the flower of manhood, John Kennedy. 05:24 I want you to listen now 05:26 to the words of President Kennedy 05:30 that he spoke in Houston. 05:34 But why, some say, the moon? 05:37 Why choose this as our goal? 05:40 And they may well ask why climb the highest mountain? 05:45 Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? 05:49 Why does Rice play Texas? We choose to go to the moon. 05:54 We choose to go to the moon. 06:01 We choose to go to the moon in this decade 06:04 and do the other things, not because they are easy, 06:08 but because they are hard, 06:10 because that goal 06:12 will serve to organize and measure the best 06:15 of our energies and skills, 06:17 because that challenge is one that we're willing to accept, 06:21 one we are unwilling to postpone, 06:24 and one which we intend to win, and the others too. 06:30 And so American said, 06:33 "We don't do it because it's easy, 06:35 we do it and we achieve it, we accomplish it." 06:38 Why? Because it's hard. 06:40 On another occasion he said, 06:42 some people ask the question, "Why." 06:46 But as Americans we don't ask, "Why we ask, why not? 06:51 Why not." 06:52 Some tremendous events have taken place in America, 06:55 I can't begin to enumerate them today. 06:59 But something that is precious to me 07:02 was the rise of the great Second Advent Movement. 07:05 This was a part of the great awakening, 07:08 led by William Miller, 07:10 who was a Baptist 07:12 who taught the coming of Christ. 07:14 This moved vast numbers of people. 07:16 It started here in America. 07:19 I wonder, why did it start in America? 07:24 It started here in America 07:26 because this was a fertile field. 07:30 People were not saying, "Why." They were saying, "Why not?" 07:35 One of my dear friends is Danny Shelton, 07:37 he comes from Southern Illinois. 07:40 A little over 30 years ago, Danny was a carpenter, 07:46 but he had a vision and he had a dream 07:49 that God was calling him 07:50 to set up a worldwide satellite network 07:53 and reach the world with the gospel of Christ. 07:57 Most people, most countries would have said, "Why?" 08:01 Danny said, "Why not?" Happened in America. 08:06 And then with the Carter Report, 08:08 3ABN moved to Russia and this was quite astounding, 08:13 this is one of the great buildings 08:15 owned by 3ABN in Russia. 08:19 Did you know 08:20 it is the largest Protestant building in all of Russia? 08:25 And it came from here, it came from here, 08:28 and it came from here because people said not why, 08:32 but why not. 08:35 Let me give a personal testimony. 08:38 I've lived in America 08:39 for a little more than 30 years, 08:41 born in Australia, 08:42 got two passports Australian and American passport. 08:46 So I'm a hybrid. 08:48 But I have found that America has been good, 08:51 good to the gospel, good to the Carter Report, 08:55 good to this ministry 08:56 that has gone into all of the world. 08:57 We've been to Russia about 50 times now, 09:00 and it started, 09:01 and we were able to do it from a base here. 09:04 I believe that the dream still lives on. 09:08 So America has been great and I say America is great, 09:14 but there is room to become greater. 09:18 Hear this? 09:20 America in recent years, 09:21 it seems to me has been losing the vision 09:25 that Ronald Reagan spoke 09:26 about the vision of the bright shining city on the hill. 09:31 And I'm afraid that in recent years 09:35 the light over America has been getting dim. 09:42 There's room, there's room. 09:45 Would you please look at Proverbs 14:34 again, 09:48 Proverbs... 09:49 Take your Bible, Proverbs 14:34, 09:53 "Righteousness exalts a nation, 09:57 but sin is a reproach to any people." 10:00 Righteousness, the goodness, the goodness of God, 10:04 the power of God, the mercy of God, 10:07 but if sin takes over, the nation goes to hell. 10:12 I want you to realize this 10:13 because the politicians are not saying this, 10:17 true greatness is synonymous with true goodness 10:22 and you can't become great unless you're good. 10:26 We're going to notice today 10:28 the aspects of the righteousness, 10:30 that goodness 10:31 that makes a nation like America great. 10:36 These aspects of righteousness that make people great. 10:40 Number one, here it is. 10:44 Wholehearted acceptance of those Judeo-Christian values 10:49 on which America was built. 10:51 Make no mistake, 10:53 this nation originally was based upon the Holy Bible 10:59 and I don't care what the skeptics say. 11:03 The father of the nation said, "He was not a perfect man, 11:08 there are no perfect people." 11:10 Washington said, 11:11 "It is impossible to rightly govern a nation 11:15 without God and the Bible." 11:18 That's what he said. 11:20 I hear people telling me, 11:21 "No, no, no, this nation was founded, 11:22 it just is an atheistic secular nation." 11:25 That is not true. 11:28 I'm going to tell you how to destroy America 11:31 because some people seem to want to destroy America. 11:35 Get rid of God and the Bible. Get rid of God and the Bible. 11:40 Many, not all, 11:41 but many in Hollywood and in the media, 11:44 not all the media 11:46 but many have been waging war 11:49 on Judeo-Christian values. 11:50 Have you noticed it? You know it's true. 11:53 We've come a long way from the Waltons. 11:56 People laugh about it. 11:57 Who wants to be like the Waltons? 12:00 A lot of people do still, 12:02 come a long way from The Waltons 12:03 in the Little House on the Prairie. 12:05 Today from Hollywood every sin 12:09 and perversion is glorified. 12:13 There was a time when almost all went to church 12:15 and believed in the Ten Commandments, 12:17 you know, it's true. 12:18 Today the nation is gripped 12:20 by a drug epidemic, you know, why? 12:23 It's a symptom of our despair. 12:26 We get rid of God, when the big God goes out, 12:29 all the little gods come in. 12:32 Now there was a time 12:34 as my friend Danny Shelton pointed out, 12:36 when there were great evangelistic crusades run 12:40 by great people like Billy Graham. 12:45 That was when America was truly great, 12:48 when people went to church, when family stayed together, 12:53 and people worshiped God, they went to church. 12:57 But there has been a war on the gospel 13:01 and a war on evangelism 13:05 not only led by the secular people 13:07 but people in the church. 13:11 And today, 13:13 in many places the church too often 13:17 is a whispering hope. 13:21 Let me talk about great Judeo-Christian truths 13:24 that I believe are fundamental. 13:27 We are made by a loving creator who made us in His image, 13:31 Genesis 1:1, 26-27. 13:34 Wants you to get your Bibles 13:36 and look at Genesis 1:1, 26 and onwards, 13:41 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 13:44 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, 13:47 according to our likeness, 13:48 let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, 13:50 over the birds of the air, 13:52 and over the cattle, 13:53 over all the earth and over every creeping thing 13:55 that creeps on the earth." 13:56 So God created man in His own image, 14:00 in the image of God He created him, 14:02 male and female He created them." 14:04 I did not come down from the trees, 14:07 I came down from the stars. 14:10 The Bible teaches 14:11 that we were made in the image of God 14:14 and therefore every person is important. 14:20 Look again, my American friends, 14:22 my Australian friends, 14:23 everybody watching around the world, 14:24 look at the Declaration of Independence again. 14:27 I want you to notice it, 14:28 "We hold these truths to be self-evident." 14:32 It means, it is so plain 14:33 you've got to be absolutely crazy 14:35 not to believe it. 14:37 "We hold these truths to be self-evident 14:39 that all men are created equal 14:41 that they are endowed by their creator 14:43 with certain unalienable rights 14:46 that among these are life, liberty, 14:49 and the pursuit of happiness." 14:51 America is founded upon belief in God 14:57 and belief in the Bible. 15:02 That's what made America great. 15:05 Atheism is the brain of the human race 15:08 and is responsible 15:09 for the deaths of tens of millions. 15:11 I've been to Russia almost 50 times. 15:14 I've seen what Stalin and Lenin did. 15:17 I've been to the cemeteries 15:19 where tens of millions of people were killed 15:23 because they were taught, "You are an animal. 15:25 You're just a machine. 15:27 You're something nothing." 15:28 I've been to Ukraine, 15:30 I've spoken in the biggest theater in Ukraine 15:33 with a tremendous crowd. 15:34 After my talk, 15:35 they took me down into the basement 15:37 of that great auditorium, 15:39 and they showed me 15:40 where people by the thousands were tortured, 15:45 and their blood ran out of the stonework. 15:48 Their blood came out of the stone. 15:50 I've been outside Ukraine to a great forest. 15:55 I've seen the pictures 15:57 that have been put up on the trees. 15:59 I've seen the crosses 16:01 where the communists took innocent people, 16:04 and took them out there, and shot them to death, 16:07 they died by the millions. 16:10 And people say, "We don't need God." 16:15 I've been to Siberia so many times, 16:19 one of the most beautiful countries 16:21 in the world. 16:22 In Siberia, 16:24 there are 10,000 graves of people 16:27 who were murdered. 16:28 Ever heard of Magadan? 16:30 One of the biggest problems we have today in America 16:32 particularly with young people 16:34 is that the educational system is so bad 16:37 that they don't even know anything about history. 16:39 You know, it's true, 16:41 we've got one of the worst educational systems 16:42 in the world today and we're breeding dumbness. 16:46 Magadan, where so many thousands have died, 16:50 it's so freezing cold. 16:52 The atheist paves the roads with human bone. 16:58 Never heard of it? 16:59 Go Google it. 17:00 Magadan, and see if you want that. 17:04 They were taught you're an animal, 17:06 you're machine. 17:07 When I went to Russia and I had preached cumulatively 17:10 to millions of communists and atheists. 17:13 I've probably spoken to more secular people 17:15 than any other person on the face of the planet, 17:17 face to face. 17:18 And I told them this, "You are not an animal. 17:21 You are not a machine. 17:23 You are a child of God." 17:25 Want you to know that. 17:28 So America was not based upon atheism or secularism. 17:31 It was based upon the truth, you are a child of God. 17:35 I was there, I saw these things. 17:37 Time is not enough to tell a Pol Pot. 17:40 Young people, 17:42 you don't even know who he was, 17:43 then go and Google it. 17:44 Ask your teacher, maybe a teacher will know. 17:47 What about Mao Zedong? What about Castro? 17:50 We all know about Kim in North Korea. 17:52 Another greater atheist, Hitler was a God hater. 17:57 And they put to death people not by the thousands 18:00 but by the tens of millions, more than a 100 million. 18:04 There are 1,000 good reasons to believe in God 18:07 and not one good reason not to believe 18:09 and I know what I'm talking about. 18:11 We need to return to the God of our fathers. 18:16 Oh, true greatness is synonymous with goodness, 18:20 and goodness comes from God. 18:22 It is a vain hope to make America great again 18:26 until you make America good again. 18:29 We are facing today not only a financial crisis 18:32 with our history, with a parallel 18:35 in the history of the human race 18:36 but we are facing with that parallel, 18:38 a crisis in morality. 18:45 We need to have a wholehearted acceptance 18:47 of the Judeo-Christian truth that racism is wrong. 18:53 Aspects of righteousness, 18:55 this goodness, number two, racism is wrong. 18:59 I want you to take your Bible and come over here 19:01 to John 4:3-13, 19:06 Jesus was the antiracist, 19:10 "He left Judea and departed again to Galilee. 19:12 But He needed to go through Samaria. 19:14 So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, 19:18 near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 19:21 Now Jacob's well was there. 19:23 Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, 19:26 sat thus by the well. 19:27 It was about the sixth hour, noon time. 19:30 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. 19:32 Jesus said to her, "Give Me a drink." 19:34 For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. 19:37 Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, 19:39 "How is it that You, being a Jew, 19:42 ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" 19:44 For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. 19:48 Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, 19:52 and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' 19:54 you would have asked Him, 19:55 and He would have given you living water." 19:58 The woman said to Him, 'Sir, You have nothing to draw with, 20:01 and the well is deep. 20:03 Where then do You get that living water? 20:06 Are You greater than our father Jacob, 20:08 who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, 20:12 as well as his sons and his livestock?" 20:14 Jesus answered and said to her, 20:16 'Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again.'" 20:19 But he went on to say, "If you drink from my water 20:21 you'll never be thirsty." 20:23 But here is Jesus, a Jew talking to a race 20:29 that the Jews at that time despised. 20:34 I want you to know that 20:36 Jesus embraced people of every race. 20:41 Racism is antichristian. 20:46 You know why? We're all made in His image? 20:49 Black man, white man, brown man, China man, 20:52 all made in His image. 20:55 We must repudiate absolutely without reservation 20:58 all forms of racism. 21:01 The Neo-Nazis, 21:04 the white supremacists, 21:07 the Ku Klux Klan, 21:10 all forms of racism including tribalism 21:13 such as was practiced in Rwanda 21:17 when even black people killed other black people 21:20 because they belong to a different tribe. 21:23 We must repudiate the caste system, 21:26 which is practiced in India 21:28 where hundreds of millions of people are kept in darkness, 21:34 poverty, and slavery, and humiliation. 21:38 The caste system, it is evil. 21:44 You see the heart of man must be renewed, 21:46 whether it's a white heart, a black heart doesn't matter. 21:50 We're all the same inside. 21:52 Jesus in John 3 said, "You've got to be born again." 21:57 It's too much talk about religion 21:59 not enough of the Spirit of God in our hearts. 22:03 And when a person is born again, 22:05 he's not going to be born again as a racist. 22:10 Racism is wrong. 22:14 You hear what I'm saying? 22:15 We repudiate it. 22:18 Do you want a greater America, a better America, 22:21 then embrace the biblical work ethic 22:25 that was embraced by the Puritans? 22:28 Gonna look at Proverbs 24:30-34. 22:31 Gonna take our Bibles, turn to the Book of Proverbs 24:30-34, 22:38 "I went by the field of the lazy man, 22:42 and by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding. 22:45 And there it was, all overgrown with thorns. 22:48 Its surface was covered with nettles, 22:50 the stone wall broken down. 22:52 When I saw it, I considered it well, 22:55 I looked on it and received instruction: 22:58 A little sleep, a little slumber, 23:01 a little folding of the hands to rest, 23:03 so shall your poverty come like a prowler, 23:06 and your need like an armed man." 23:08 The Bible, listen, is opposed to laziness. 23:15 And the early Americans were anything but lazy 23:18 when you had to work. 23:20 Look at 2 Thessalonians, turn over now in your Bible 23:22 to 2 Thessalonians 3:10-11, 23:29 "For even when we were with you, 23:32 we commanded you this, if anyone will not work, 23:36 doesn't say cannot work, 23:37 if anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. 23:44 For we hear that there are some who walk among you 23:48 in a in a disorderly manner, not working at all, 23:51 but are busy bodies." 23:55 It means their gossips. 23:57 I believe in the work ethic of the pilgrim fathers 24:03 and the fathers of this nation, and all who believe 24:06 that all kinds of work if lawful was honorable. 24:10 Listen, I don't believe in socialism, 24:12 I don't believe in communism. 24:14 I've been to Russia in the winter of '91, 24:16 I went there to Moscow. 24:18 And a man came up out of the vast crowd 24:21 and he said, "This is the hell we have created." 24:24 I went to Nizhny Novgorod a few months later, 24:28 it was nothing at all in the stores. 24:31 In fact, they weren't any stores, no bread. 24:35 I came upon a man, a private man, 24:38 he had a big truck full of fish, 24:40 the people were starving but no money to buy the fish. 24:45 We come from America and we had money, 24:47 we bought the truck and we bought the fish 24:50 and we fed the people. 24:52 You see, I do not believe in a system 24:56 that is based on laziness. 24:58 In Russia they had the saying, "We pretend to work 25:01 and they pretend to pay us." 25:04 There was a hotel we watched for 10 years 25:06 being built it made no progress. 25:08 They get there at 9 o'clock, shake hands, 25:11 have a committee meeting, shake hands and go home. 25:14 We pretend to work, they pretend to pay us. 25:18 I'm going to tell you something, 25:20 I had an experience that has done me a lot of good. 25:24 I left home when I was 16. 25:27 My parents didn't have a lot of money 25:29 but they taught me you gotta work. 25:31 I went to North Queensland and I drove a bulldozer. 25:36 I couldn't even take a vacation, 25:38 a day off for seven years. 25:41 You say, that sort of slavery. 25:43 No, it was good for me. 25:46 It taught me the great work ethic 25:49 that has built America. 25:52 And America was built by people 25:56 who were prepared to work and to trust in God 26:01 and if we want to make America great again, 26:04 we've got to get back 26:05 to what America was in the beginning. 26:07 More after this break, more in a moment. 26:23 In this series John Carter will provide the answers 26:26 to life's most interesting questions. 26:28 Seven great signs of the apocalypse. 26:31 If the dead are unconscious, 26:34 who are the beings that pretend to be the dead? 26:38 This is such a person as the devil. 26:45 What is the essence of antichrist? 26:52 What is the root cause of this deadly malaise? 26:57 America was founded by people who were opposed 27:02 to the union of church and state, 27:05 but if there's a God who loves us 27:07 then the future is bright was promised. 27:11 For a gift of $100 US or $140 Australia, 27:15 this 13 DVD series Prophecy Speaks will be yours. 27:20 Call the number or visit our website. 27:25 In the series, This I Believe, Pastor Carter reveals 27:28 the heart and soul of the Carter Report. 27:32 I believe in Jesus Christ. 27:36 I believe in the Ten Commandments. 27:41 I believe in the true gospel. 27:47 I believe in the last days. 27:52 I believe in the America that believes in God. 27:59 I believe in heaven. 28:02 I believe in evangelism. 28:08 This I Believe. 28:12 The seven DVD series, This I Believe can be yours 28:15 with a gift of $75 US or $105 Australian. 28:19 Please write to us at the address on the screen 28:22 or visit our website at cartereport.org. 28:28 For a copy of today's program, please contact us 28:31 at P.O.
