00:01 I'm John Carter in Moscow...
00:02 Now in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.
00:04 I'm John Carter in Petra...
00:06 Reporting from India...
00:08 In Columbia...
00:09 I'm John Carter.
00:11 Today, on the Carter Report, John Carter talks about
00:14 same-sex marriage and the mark of the beast.
00:21 We give you an extraordinarily warm welcome today.
00:26 Australia has just become one of the Me Too nations.
00:33 Over in Australia, about 61% are saying "Me Too."
00:38 They've joined those countries that have declared themselves
00:41 in favor of same-sex unions.
00:46 About 61% of the people said yes.
00:49 They're now following
00:51 the example of the United States of America,
00:55 Canada, New Zealand,
00:57 Great Britain, France, and Germany,
01:00 and others that have repudiated thousands of years
01:05 of established custom and moral law
01:08 with their obvious shrug of the shoulders.
01:13 Today, I decided to answer a number of questions
01:15 that I think are of vital importance.
01:19 I do so, thankfully, not as a politician
01:24 but as a Christian who believes the Bible.
01:26 I don't ask you necessarily to agree with me
01:30 but to consider what may be
01:32 of great relevance to our peace, prosperity,
01:35 and our wellbeing.
01:38 May I say these words with real sincerity,
01:42 too often the LGBTQ community
01:47 has been treated badly by some people
01:51 who call themselves Christians, some churches,
01:55 and I think for many years by society in general.
02:00 I believe this has been wrong, and we should all say,
02:04 "I'm sorry,"
02:06 because the way we have acted
02:08 has not represented the Spirit of Christ.
02:12 We should never forget we are all children of God.
02:17 Sadly, we belong to a fallen humanity,
02:22 and none of us is whole,
02:24 we all need God's amazing grace.
02:29 I want to say to every person,
02:32 I think our attitude ought to be,
02:34 we may disagree with you,
02:39 but in spite of our disagreements,
02:41 we love you
02:43 because Jesus, of course, loves us.
02:48 And Jesus, of course,
02:49 is called the friend of sinners.
02:54 And the topic today is a rather explosive topic,
03:00 same-sex marriage and the mark of the beast,
03:04 what have they possibly got in common.
03:08 We're going to start by sharing two texts,
03:10 the first one is found in Matthew 19:4 and onwards.
03:16 And this not from the church, this is from Jesus.
03:21 Matthew 19:4-6.
03:28 "And He answered," this is Jesus,
03:29 "said to them,
03:31 'Have you not read that He who made them
03:33 at the beginning made them male and female.'"
03:39 This is Jesus.
03:40 "He made them male and female."
03:43 "And said, 'For this reason
03:47 a man shall leave his father and his mother
03:52 and be joined to his wife.'"
03:55 "Male and female."
03:59 "'And the two shall become one flesh'?
04:01 so then they are no longer two but one flesh.
04:05 Therefore, what God has joined together,
04:09 let not man separate."
04:11 Don't be mad with me.
04:14 The Bible says, quoting the Lord Jesus Christ,
04:18 the Son of God, "In the beginning
04:21 He made them male and female."
04:25 And Jesus said
04:28 that a true marriage was between a man,
04:32 one man and one woman.
04:35 This is what the Bible says.
04:37 Now please listen to me,
04:41 and I say to my Aussie friends, give me please fair go.
04:47 Please listen to what I'm saying.
04:50 Now I want you to come now to Revelation 13:11, 16
04:57 which seems at the start to be totally irrelevant.
05:02 "Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth.
05:07 He had two horns like a lamb, spoke like a dragon."
05:12 Here is an antichrist power that arises in the last days.
05:17 "He cases all, both small and great,
05:20 rich and poor, free and slave,
05:24 to receive a mark on their right hand
05:27 or on their foreheads,
05:29 and that no one may buy or sell
05:31 except one who has the mark
05:36 or the name of the beast or the number of his name."
05:42 What on earth has this got to do with our topic today?
05:47 Let me tell you briefly because I'm going to elaborate
05:50 as we go along.
05:53 In the last days,
05:54 people will become exceedingly intolerant,
06:01 and unless you see it their way,
06:07 you are going to be boycotted.
06:11 And I can show you that in the last days
06:13 the mark of the beast
06:15 is tied in with changing the Law of God.
06:21 More to come.
06:23 Now we're going to ask a number of questions
06:25 and hopefully give a clear answer.
06:28 Number one, do we have the right to choose?
06:32 Has God given us freedom of choice?
06:35 Do I have the right to engage in sexual activity
06:39 that is condemned in the Bible?
06:43 I would say,
06:44 "Yes, I do have the right to choose my own lifestyle
06:51 as long as my right
06:53 does not infringe upon your right."
06:58 But God has given to us the gift,
07:02 freedom of choice.
07:03 I want you to come to Genesis 3:1-10.
07:09 Genesis 3:1-10.
07:16 Would you please notice it in the Bible?
07:18 "Now the serpent," that's Satan,
07:21 "was more cunning than any beast of the field
07:24 which the Lord God had made.
07:25 And he said to the woman, 'Has God indeed said,
07:28 'You shall not eat of every tree the garden'?'
07:33 And the woman said to the serpent,
07:35 'We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden
07:38 but of the fruit of the tree
07:39 which is in the midst of the garden,
07:41 God has said, 'You shall not eat it,
07:45 nor shall you touch it, lest you die."
07:49 Then the serpent said to the woman,
07:52 'You will not surely die.
07:55 For God knows that in the day you eat of it,
07:58 your eyes will be opened and you will be like God,
08:03 knowing good and evil.'
08:05 So when the woman saw
08:07 that the tree was good for food,
08:09 that it was pleasant to the eyes,
08:12 and a tree desirable to make one wise,
08:16 she took of its fruit and ate.
08:20 She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
08:26 Then the eyes of both of them were opened,
08:29 and they knew that they were naked,
08:32 and they sewed fig leaves together
08:34 and made themselves coverings.
08:37 And they heard the sound of the Lord God
08:39 walking in the garden in the cool of the day,
08:41 and Adam and his wife hid themselves
08:43 from the presence of the Lord God
08:45 among the trees of the garden.
08:49 Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him,
08:52 'Where are you?'
08:54 So he said, 'I heard Your voice in the garden,
08:58 and I was afraid because I was naked,
09:01 and I hid myself.'"
09:04 The greatest teaching in the Bible
09:07 is that God loves people.
09:09 God is a God of Love.
09:13 Listen to me,
09:17 God gave us a dangerous gift,
09:24 choice,
09:26 the ability to choose good and evil.
09:32 You see, I could not love...
09:36 I would not have the capacity to respond to love
09:41 if I had been made a robot.
09:45 So God gave to us a dangerous gift,
09:50 it was choice,
09:53 we can choose good, and we can choose evil.
09:58 I'm going to tell you an amazing story.
10:01 It comes from one of the greatest authors of all time.
10:04 The Russian Dostoyevsky,
10:07 he talks about the Grand Inquisitor,
10:12 the scene is Spain,
10:13 the occasion the burning of 100 heretics
10:17 who dared to challenge the church.
10:20 And after the burning of the 100 heretics,
10:23 Christ arrives in the town in Spain,
10:29 walks around,
10:30 the people fall down before Him and they worship Him,
10:33 they say it's really Christ, He heals the sick,
10:37 raises the dead, He does miracles.
10:41 The people are worshipping Him, but the great inquisitor,
10:45 the Jesuit comes and says,
10:47 "Throw Him into prison, in the dungeon!"
10:50 He says to Christ,
10:52 "We will burn You tomorrow, Christ.
10:55 Why have You come back to trouble us?"
10:58 And all the people bowed down before the Grand Inquisitor.
11:05 That night the Grand Inquisitor comes and visits Christ
11:09 who is in the prison.
11:12 Christ is sitting there waiting His execution
11:15 the next day at the hands of the church.
11:19 And the Grand Inquisitor says, "Christ, why did You come back?
11:24 We worked so hard to make things good.
11:29 We were going good.
11:32 Why did You have to come back, Christ?
11:37 And by God, I'll burn You tomorrow."
11:41 Then he says this...
11:43 This is just a little quote from Dostoyevsky.
11:46 "We corrected Your great deed and founded it upon miracle,
11:50 mystery, and authority."
11:52 See, this is what people want, miracle, mystery, authority.
11:59 "And people were glad
12:00 that they had once been brought together
12:02 into a flock
12:04 and that at last from their hearts
12:05 had been removed
12:07 such a terrible gift, choice,
12:13 which had brought them so much torment.
12:16 Were we right, to teach an act thus, would you say?
12:19 Did we not love mankind,
12:22 when we so humbly admitted his helplessness,
12:27 lightning his burden with love,
12:30 and allowing his feeble nature even sin,
12:37 but with our permission?
12:41 Why have You come to get in our way now, Christ?
12:46 By God, I'll burn you tomorrow."
12:51 And Jesus says nothing.
12:53 And the Grand Inquisitor goes on and on and on,
12:56 and then says,
12:58 "And they shall have no secrets from us.
13:01 We shall permit them or forbid them
13:03 to live with their wives or paramours,
13:06 to have or not to have children,
13:08 all according to their degree of obedience.
13:13 And they will submit to us with cheerfulness and joy.
13:18 The most agonizing secrets of their consciences,
13:22 all, all will they bring to us,
13:24 we shall resolve it all,
13:27 and they will attend our decision with joy
13:30 because..."
13:31 Now listen, "it will deliver them
13:34 from the great anxiety
13:36 and fearsome present torments
13:40 of free and individual decision.
13:46 All will be happy."
13:49 "Christ, why did You come back?"
13:53 This is a tale told by Ivan to his brother
13:57 in the book The Brothers Karamazov,
14:03 one of the great masterpieces.
14:06 And because Christ is love,
14:09 He gave us a great and wonderful gift,
14:12 freedom of choice.
14:14 I can choose, I can't tell you what to do,
14:19 I can urge arguments upon you,
14:22 I can preach to you,
14:23 but I cannot forbid you to do this or that
14:28 because God doesn't even do that.
14:30 Freedom of choice, a very dangerous gift,
14:32 but without that gift, I am a mere robot
14:35 without the capacity to love.
14:37 The church, my friend, can preach, argue, and teach,
14:41 and it should,
14:43 but it cannot take from people
14:45 the right to choose their own destiny
14:47 even though that destiny may be,
14:49 in my opinion, evil.
14:54 So God is love, we can choose.
14:59 Number two question,
15:00 do people have the right of freedom of speech
15:02 and freedom of worship?
15:04 And there are people today from the liberal left
15:07 and the radical right who would tell me
15:10 you can only believe what I tell you
15:11 you can believe.
15:13 We're in an age of gross intolerance,
15:16 from the left and from the right.
15:18 Do people have the right of freedom of speech
15:20 and freedom of worship?
15:22 Come with me to Revelation 17:1-6
15:26 for a little bit of history.
15:29 Revelation 17,
15:31 "Then one of the seven angels
15:32 who had the seven bowls came and talked with me,
15:35 saying to me,
15:36 'Come, I will show you the judgment
15:37 of the great harlot which sits on many waters,
15:40 with whom the kings of the earth
15:41 committed fornication,
15:42 and the inhabitants of the earth
15:44 were made drunk and crazy
15:46 with the wine of her fornication.'
15:47 So he carried me away
15:49 in the Spirit into the wilderness.
15:50 And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast
15:54 which was full of names and blasphemy,
15:56 having seven heads and ten horns.
15:59 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet,
16:01 and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls,
16:04 having in her hand a golden cup
16:06 full of abominations and filthiness of fornication.
16:09 And on her forehead a name was written Mystery,
16:14 Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots,
16:17 and of the Abominations of the Earth.
16:19 I saw the woman,
16:21 drunk with the blood of the saints
16:23 and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.
16:26 And when I saw her,
16:27 I marveled with great amazement."
16:30 What is it talking about?
16:32 It is talking about the union of church
16:35 and state in the dark ages.
16:37 I spoke about this a little bit last week.
16:41 This is a description of the day
16:45 when the church and the state became one
16:47 and when the papacy ruled the world.
16:51 During the reign of Papal Rome, there was no freedom of speech
16:56 and no freedom of worship and no freedom of choice.
17:02 And most people were happy
17:04 because the burden of responsibility
17:06 had been taken from them.
17:09 During this time,
17:11 there was a terrible persecution of non-conformists,
17:14 Jews, Protestants, Muslims,
17:17 and non-conforming Catholics.
17:19 They were all persecuted by this dreadful system
17:22 that some people confuse with the church.
17:25 That organization that did these abominations
17:28 had nothing to do with Christ.
17:31 They were a counterfeit.
17:34 I believe in the separation of church and state
17:36 that all people have the right to argue,
17:40 teach, preach,
17:42 and advocate ideas that may be objectionable
17:45 to the majority.
17:49 This is guaranteed in the USA by the First Amendment.
17:54 This operates in the domain of public affairs,
17:58 public universities, not in private institutions.
18:04 If you work for the Ford Motor Company,
18:06 you cannot be advocating the sale of Chevy trucks.
18:11 So when it talks about freedom of speech,
18:13 it talks about freedom of speech
18:15 in the public domain, in universities
18:19 and all state institutions everywhere,
18:23 except where people are employed
18:25 by certain organizations.
18:29 Now we believe or every true American believes
18:34 in the freedom of preaching things
18:37 that may to some of us be totally objectionable.
18:41 I might even call what you're saying hate speech,
18:44 but you have the right to say it,
18:46 even though I object to it with all my soul.
18:50 I would remind and some say...
18:52 I don't like this because
18:55 you can only say those things that I think are acceptable.
19:00 That is an abominable idea, I tell you,
19:03 it is totally un-American, un-Christian, and unacceptable.
19:08 But today, people on the far-left
19:11 and the far-right
19:13 believe in freedom of speech for themselves
19:17 but not for the rest of us.
19:19 I would remind you, there was no freedom of speech
19:22 and no freedom of worship in Nazi Germany.
19:25 Didn't happen that long ago,
19:28 95 percent of the people went along with it.
19:31 You say, "No, it can't be true."
19:32 Yes, 95 percent.
19:34 So truth is not necessarily on the side of the majority,
19:39 and just because 61 percent, or 75 percent,
19:43 or 95 percent says something is true,
19:45 it doesn't make it right.
19:48 Don't forget this.
19:52 There was no freedom of speech and no freedom of worship
19:55 in Fascist Italy.
19:57 No freedom of speech and no freedom of worship
20:00 in Communist Russia.
20:01 I have been to Russia 49 and 50 times,
20:05 I went there
20:06 when the communists were ruling.
20:08 They were the far-left.
20:10 People say, "No, no..."
20:11 Yes, they were the far-left.
20:15 There was no freedom of speech and no freedom of worship
20:17 in communist China, not much there today.
20:20 No freedom of speech and no freedom of worship
20:22 in communist North Korea, zero,
20:26 or even in many American universities.
20:29 Can you believe it?
20:30 In many American universities...
20:35 where they have what they call free zones, and people say,
20:41 "You cannot say anything,
20:42 you cannot teach anything
20:44 that I may find offensive."
20:47 I would say to such young people
20:49 it is time for you to grow up
20:51 and realize that you're living in a real world
20:54 where many things you're going to discover
20:56 are offensive.
20:59 So I believe in the free exchange of ideas,
21:02 and I believe that you have the right to say to me
21:05 and to teach things that I dislike intensely.
21:11 So we believe in freedom of speech
21:13 and freedom of religion.
21:15 I do not believe in many religions,
21:18 but I believe that I must defend
21:20 the right of those people to practice their religions
21:25 to the last drop of my blood,
21:27 and I'm talking about the Muslim religion,
21:29 and I'm talking about the Hindus, and the Buddhists,
21:32 and the Catholics, and the Protestants,
21:34 and every person.
21:36 They may disagree with me, I may disagree with them,
21:38 but that's not the point.
21:41 There are two very intolerant groups
21:43 in the world today in America,
21:48 the far-right and the far-left.
21:50 But there's one good thing about America
21:52 that other countries don't have,
21:54 at least the far-left is balanced by the far-right.
22:00 But in some countries, even the country of my birth,
22:04 it seems to me that the far-left
22:08 is the power that is heard all the time
22:14 and people are afraid to disagree.
22:18 Remember, the Sadducees were the liberals
22:21 and the Pharisees were the conservatives,
22:23 and both put Christ on the cross.
22:28 Bad as each other,
22:29 so I say to you as an American, let freedom reign.
22:35 Now here's a very important question.
22:41 And I hope my homosexual friends
22:43 will be tolerant with me
22:44 and will believe in freedom of speech now.
22:48 Why are so many Christians like me
22:52 so opposed to the so-called same-sex marriage?
22:55 Why not be more loving?
22:58 Well, certainly, we should be more loving.
23:01 Martin Luther said these words,
23:03 "My conscience is captive to the Word of God.
23:07 So unless I'm convinced by reason
23:09 and the texts of the Bible,
23:11 I cannot and I will not recant."
23:14 So you see some of us have convictions,
23:18 some of us actually believe.
23:23 There are too many passages in the Bible that condemn sex
23:26 between men and men and women and women
23:30 for me to ignore what the Word of God says.
23:34 See this is my dilemma.
23:35 I want to fit in, I want to be friends with everybody,
23:40 I dislike quarrels.
23:44 But first and foremost, the Bible says,
23:46 "I shall worship the Lord your God
23:48 and Him only shall you serve."
23:50 Therefore, my first allegiance is not to the US Supreme Court
23:56 or to the Australian Parliament,
24:00 my first allegiance is to the Word of God.
24:03 And what am I going to do with this text?
24:06 I want you to come over here to Leviticus 20:13.
24:09 Leviticus 20:13.
24:12 Now some would say this is hate speech,
24:15 and it should be removed from the Bible.
24:19 Some people have said this, I've heard them say it
24:21 on American television, this is hate speech.
24:25 I would remind you, it is the Word of God.
24:30 Leviticus 20:13, here it is,
24:33 "If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman,
24:40 both of them have committed an abomination.
24:44 They shall surely be put to death.
24:46 Their blood shall be upon them."
24:50 Now I can hear 1,000 objections,
24:53 you're saying we should put people...
24:54 No, no, no, what I'm saying is this,
24:58 in the Old Testament, you had a theocracy,
25:01 it was different to the New Testament system,
25:03 you were church and state,
25:05 religious law was civil law, and if you broke the Sabbath,
25:10 you were put to death,
25:11 if you cursed your father and your mother,
25:13 you were put to death, if you committed adultery,
25:17 you were put to death.
25:19 How many would be left today?
25:21 But if you did those things in the Old Testament,
25:23 the judgment came immediately and suddenly.
25:28 And this is not done today.
25:30 Thank God we leave it to the hands of a merciful God
25:33 and the Last Judgment, but the Bible does say,
25:38 "If a man lies with a man as a man lies with a woman,
25:42 that is an abomination."
25:46 So as a Christian, here is my dilemma,
25:50 am I to go along with the majority
25:52 and say I will fit in
25:57 or will I say with Martin Luther,
26:01 here I stand,
26:04 I can do none other."
26:08 Much more to come,
26:10 just moments away, stay with us.
26:25 Remember when common sense was common?
26:30 Life had clear choices, right was right.
26:33 Now right is wrong and wrong is right.
26:38 Spiritual vigilantes are riding in to divide
26:41 and conquer towns across America.
26:44 They're taking God's law into their own hands.
26:48 John Carter would like to give you a free copy
26:50 of Spiritual Vigilantes by Danny Shelton.
26:56 Read this book and you can counter attack
