00:03 Science teaches
00:04 that facts are superior to superstition. 00:07 John Carter agrees. 00:09 In the following program, 00:11 he presents 10 top reasons why God exists. 00:14 No superstition, just facts. 00:20 Welcome back, my friends. 00:22 Today, we're talking about the top 10 reasons 00:25 why you can believe in God. 00:28 Why we believe not just in faith 00:31 but why we believe in facts. 00:34 Jesus said, "You know the truth, 00:36 the truth will make you free." 00:38 So here we come to top 10, reason number 5, 00:43 the human condition. 00:47 What am I telling about, the human condition. 00:49 Text in the Bible, 00:50 Psalms 51 I think it is, verse 5. 00:53 And it says these words, Psalm 51:5. 00:58 I'll read it to you. 00:59 "Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, 01:03 and in sin my mother conceived me." 01:07 There's only one book in the world 01:11 that perfectly describes the human condition. 01:16 There's only one book 01:17 that perfectly describes me 01:22 and you, 01:24 whoever you are. 01:26 I was watching TV 01:28 last Sunday morning, my goodness, 01:30 it was a story of violence, crime, 01:33 depravity, immorality, 01:38 and we are standing on the brink of nuclear war. 01:43 There are symptoms of this thing 01:46 that's wrong inside us. 01:47 And those of you who are watching, 01:49 I think you know what I'm talking about. 01:51 2013, 30% of men, 01:54 16% of women reported binge drinking 01:58 during the past month. 02:01 Why? 02:02 Heroin use has tripled in the USA, 02:05 2007 to 2014. 02:08 Last year, 02:10 10,574 deaths 02:14 from heroin. 02:16 In 2014 were one million heroin users in America, 02:22 in this great land of freedom. 02:25 What's wrong? 02:27 Opioids killed 02:29 more than 33,000 Americans 02:33 in 2015. 02:36 Last year, 44,000 Americans 02:39 committed suicide. 02:42 Why? Including lots of film stars. 02:46 One million Americans attempt suicide 02:49 every year in the USA. 02:55 What's wrong? 02:58 The Bible describes the human condition, 03:02 and it says that man 03:04 is alienated from God. 03:09 Man needs... 03:11 Man needs God. 03:16 And there's no other book that describes my condition 03:18 such as the Bible. 03:20 That's why politics and politicians fail. 03:23 That's why I'm amazed to see people 03:26 who profess to be Christians who are so tied up in politics. 03:31 Politics do not save, Jesus saves. 03:36 Politics and politicians fail, 03:40 because they fail to deal with the real problem. 03:43 All are afflicted 03:46 whether you are a Republican 03:48 or a Democrat or like me, an independent. 03:53 I like to think for myself, you see. 03:56 I don't like people thinking for me, 03:59 I don't like churches thinking for me, 04:00 and I don't like 04:02 political parties thinking for me. 04:05 In Australia, they have an expression 04:07 "You're barking up the wrong gum tree." 04:10 That means you're looking in the wrong place. 04:13 I have a friend, 04:15 a great scientist, I had a friend, 04:17 two PhDs, 04:20 and he was a good man but he became overwhelmed 04:25 with some things, and he gave up his faith. 04:30 Just before he died, he made this remark. 04:34 A friend of mine, he said, 04:38 "I need a savior. 04:41 I need a savior." 04:44 In your heart, 04:45 whether you are Richard Dawkins or somebody else, 04:47 you need a savior. 04:49 Top 10, reason number 6. Listen to this. 04:54 Nobody could have invented Him, 04:56 nobody could have dreamed Him up, 04:58 the person of Christ. 05:00 There's no one else like Him in history, 05:02 the most influential person who ever lived. 05:06 Not to be confused 05:07 with the religion of those who profess His name. 05:11 Sometimes the religious people are the worst. 05:15 Don't laugh, I'm perfectly serious. 05:18 The Bible claims that Jesus Christ 05:21 is the creator of the universe, universes. 05:25 He became a man, sinless human being. 05:28 He was not part of the political process. 05:32 He was not a part of the religious establishment. 05:36 He was hated by the politicians and by the priests. 05:40 He started the spiritual... 05:42 He was a spiritual revolutionary 05:44 whose kingdom is not of this world. 05:46 He said, 05:48 "For God so loved the world 05:54 that He gave His only Son, 05:55 so that whoever believes in Him 05:57 shall not perish but have everlasting life." 05:59 Who could have devised 06:01 the idea of the creator of the universe 06:05 becoming a man 06:06 and getting crucified 06:08 to save the world? 06:13 Who would have thought that up? 06:15 Nobody could have thought that up. 06:17 Nobody could have thought that up. 06:19 In John 8:57 and 58, He said these words. 06:24 He said, 06:25 "I Am, I Am the I Am." 06:30 He's a carpenter 06:32 who is going to be murdered by crucifixion, 06:34 that's the worst of deaths. 06:36 You don't have heroes put on a cross. 06:40 But God becomes a man, and He is crucified, 06:43 and then he said 06:44 in another portion of His teachings, 06:46 John 14:6, He said, 06:49 "I am the way, the truth, and the life." 06:53 If you want to find the way, then come to Me. 06:55 If you want to find the truth, come to Me. 06:58 If you want to find life, come to Me. 07:02 Now He is above politics and above churches. 07:08 The idea of Christ is so radical, so unique, 07:10 so extraordinary that it defies human thought. 07:15 He is the greatest argument for God 07:19 because only God could have thought this idea. 07:24 Reason number 7 of the top 10. 07:30 The ability of faith in God 07:34 to change lives. 07:37 The teachings of Christ, I'll tell you, my friend, 07:40 and I don't talk as an armchair theologian, 07:43 I'm talking about what I've seen. 07:46 The teachings of Christ are like a mighty river flowing 07:50 in a vast desert. 07:51 They bring hope, healing, prosperity, peace, health, 07:55 life, and longevity. 07:57 In John 10:10, 08:01 Jesus said these words. 08:03 He said, "The thief does not come except to steal" 08:07 that's false religion, 08:09 everything else, they are the thieves, 08:12 "and to kill and to destroy. 08:13 I have come that they may have life, 08:15 that they may have it more abundantly." 08:20 He said, "If you believe my teachings," 08:22 I'm not talking about religion. 08:25 He said, "You will have life more abundantly." 08:29 Man made religion masquerading as Christ religion 08:32 has been the curse of humanity, 08:33 that's why so many atheists have come into being 08:36 that they throw the baby out with the bathwater. 08:39 It's not intellectually sound. 08:42 The teachings of Christ 08:44 are the greatest force for good in the world. 08:47 Let me ask you these questions? 08:48 Let us be honest, 08:50 let us be intellectually honest even though it hurts. 08:55 What destroyed the barbarism of the Roman Empire? 08:59 The teachings of Christ. 09:01 Who abolished slavery in the British Empire? 09:04 Wilberforce, John Newton, the followers of Christ, 09:07 not the atheists, sorry. 09:09 Who established the great orphanages 09:11 for the rejects of society? 09:15 Christian missionaries. 09:17 Who liberated women around the world? 09:19 Not the atheists, 09:21 not the Muslims, 09:24 not the Hindus, 09:28 but the teachings of Christ. 09:30 "The truth shall make you free." 09:32 Who gave black people equal rights in America? 09:38 Christians led 09:40 by a Baptist minister, that's who? 09:44 He was another Martin Luther who was born 500 years ago 09:48 during an age of superstition 09:51 and oppression because of false religion. 09:56 Don't call it Christianity, it wasn't. 10:00 Martin Luther started the Reformation, 10:03 and this is a politically incorrect question 10:06 but I will ask it because it's the truth. 10:08 We should not be afraid of truth, only superstition. 10:12 Where do you find the cleanest, the most prosperous, 10:15 the healthiest, 10:16 the safest countries in the world? 10:18 The countries that accepted the teachings of Christ, 10:22 that walked in the light of the Protestant Reformation, 10:25 Bible believing nations. 10:27 And the latest Economist magazine says 10:30 they have carried out a scientific survey, 10:33 and they discovered that those nations 10:36 or those people that follow the teachings of Christ 10:39 are the healthiest, and the happiest, 10:41 and the most prosperous. 10:43 That's the Economist magazine, 10:45 hardly a Christian magazine. 10:50 Number eighth reason of the top 10. 10:54 Now this is not palatable, 10:56 I don't like giving it to you. 11:00 It is a bitter pill to swallow. 11:03 But let me say this to the Christians 11:05 who are watching. 11:07 One of the greatest problems in the Christian church 11:10 is close mindedness and narrow mindedness. 11:16 Traditional Christianity that is not based on truth, 11:20 but is based on tradition. 11:24 Why multitudes leave the church? 11:30 It is true also of false science 11:34 that leads to atheism. 11:36 I believe in true science but not hocus-pocus. 11:41 I do not wish to replace one bad religion with one 11:44 that is even worse. 11:46 All right. 11:47 Look at the alternative to God if you have the courage, 11:51 if you're an atheist. 11:53 Don't turn the program off and say, 11:56 "I'm not going to listen to this." 11:58 I appeal to you to have some courage 12:01 and to be intellectually honest. 12:05 And I would say this to Richard Dawkins 12:08 and all of them. 12:12 Look at the alternative to belief in God, atheism. 12:18 Look at those nations that rejected God. 12:25 I was in Australia, I said this, 12:26 a person said I take offense. 12:28 I said, "Well, be my guest. 12:30 Yeah, will you face the truth 12:33 or will you be a spiritual coward 12:36 all your life?" 12:37 Look at those nations that rejected God. 12:39 Look at Russia. I've been there 49 times. 12:46 I'm an authority on Russia, communism and atheism. 12:55 If the Christians had done this, 12:56 the atheists would not have been silent 12:58 for one moment, therefore why should I? 13:02 The atheists, militant atheism in Russia put to death 13:07 at least 50 million people. 13:11 Tortured them, 13:13 beat them to death, kick them to death, 13:16 starve them to death, froze them to death. 13:23 They did exactly the same in Ukraine. 13:27 They did the same in China. 13:30 What about Cambodia? There's no God. 13:33 And if there is no God, 13:35 when will we ever learn and grow up? 13:37 If there is no God, there is no man 13:40 because the death of God 13:43 always leads to the death of man. 13:47 Have you heard of Dostoyevsky? 13:51 Haven't heard of him? Well, go and google it. 13:53 You need to hear of him. 13:55 Dostoyevsky, the great Russian writer, 13:59 one of the greatest writers 14:00 in the history of the human race, 14:01 Dostoyevsky said, 14:03 "If there is no God, everything is possible." 14:08 Why can't we be intellectually honest? 14:12 If there is no God and if this brain is simply 14:16 the result of mindless faucets, 14:20 if there is no purpose in at all, 14:23 if the evolutionary process just is a blind thing, 14:28 and if there is no God, think about this. 14:33 If man is the product of time plus matter plus chance, 14:36 don't say, "It doesn't matter." 14:40 If man is the product of time plus matter plus chance, 14:43 listen to this. 14:45 How can you trust the mind? 14:49 You know what Darwin said, 14:51 and he was right, sometimes honest. 14:54 He said, "Then rises the terrible thought. 14:58 If my mind has come 15:02 from the lowest creature, 15:07 the lowest creature in the swamp, 15:11 how can I trust its conclusions?" 15:16 Therefore, if this is the result 15:21 of the mindless force and if there is no God, 15:25 you cannot even believe in atheism 15:30 because you are trusting 15:32 the conclusions of that 15:36 which is a purposeless thing. 15:40 I think it's true. Be honest. 15:43 I hate people... It almost annoys me. 15:45 I hate people say, "Well, you know, I believe..." 15:49 Doesn't matter what you believe. 15:52 That doesn't make it right or wrong. 15:54 What we need to have is the truth. 15:59 We need to have facts. 16:00 If I were to discover from my research 16:04 that the Bible is hocus-pocus, I wouldn't believe it. 16:09 People say, "Well, I would." 16:12 Well, then you're deluded. 16:14 I believe in scripture 16:15 because I have evidence it is the truth, you see. 16:20 And I want evidence. 16:22 Now look at Cambodia, Pol Pot. 16:25 Million put to death. 16:28 Dostoyevsky, 16:29 "If there is no God, everything is possible." 16:31 Have a look at this. 16:33 See this. 16:39 Along the Trans Siberian Railway 16:44 when millions and millions of people, 16:49 many Christians, 16:52 I hope I would have gone dissidents, 16:57 I'd like to be a dissident for Christ, and I am. 17:05 Millions went there. 17:07 In Siberia alone, 17:10 atheism murdered 10 million. 17:14 What a great argument for atheism! 17:16 People come and say to me, 17:17 "Well, what about the Dark Ages 17:19 when the Catholic Church put millions to death?" 17:22 Hey, 17:25 I don't accept that as a teaching of Christ. 17:28 I don't accept that as a religion of Christ. 17:32 I don't believe that. I don't believe that at all. 17:37 But Jesus Christ never persecuted a single soul. 17:42 Jesus said, "I've come to save lives, 17:44 not to take lives." 17:49 I've been to Siberia many times. 17:52 I've stood in far cemeteries up to my waist in snow, 17:58 and I thought of the people 18:00 and the millions sleeping beneath my feet 18:04 who were killed 18:06 because, if there is no God, 18:09 anything is possible. 18:15 This is a spike 18:17 from the Trans-Siberian railway line. 18:23 I went outside Okhotsk near Lake Baikal. 18:29 Ever heard of it? 18:30 Largest freshwater lake in the world, 18:33 contains one-fifth of all the surface fresh water 18:36 in the world. 18:37 Ever heard of it? 18:39 When stood on the railway line, and I picked up some spikes, 18:44 I brought a heap of them back and gave them to my friends. 18:48 This one I had covered in gold 18:53 to remind me... 18:59 Of the silver of their tears, the gold of their blood. 19:05 Something marvelous happened there. 19:08 People died 19:10 with the hands of the atheists. 19:15 You see, the atheist said, 19:18 "There is no God, 19:19 and if there is no God, there's no man." 19:24 Solzhenitsyn was being tortured by an atheist woman, 19:29 torturing him in a most terrible way. 19:32 He cried out in pain, "Don't you know I have a soul?" 19:35 She said, "We don't have any souls left. 19:39 "We don't have any souls." 19:41 She said, "You gotta break eggs when you're making an omelet. 19:45 We're making an omelet." 19:47 Crack, crack, another egg. 19:51 There is no God, there is no man. 19:53 You want to know why America is going down, 19:56 because America has put God out of their schools. 20:00 Got rid of the Ten Commandments 20:03 and brought in secularism, 20:04 and socialism, and atheism. 20:09 So look at the alternative. 20:13 Reason number 9 of the top 10. 20:16 It is prophecy. 20:18 Most folks are not aware of this. 20:21 This is a book of prophecy. 20:23 It is unlike any other book in the whole wide world. 20:28 I have seen tens of thousands of atheists come to God 20:33 because they were honest. 20:35 Not everybody is honest. 20:37 There is a prophecy in the Bible 20:39 about the city of Tyre. 20:42 The Bible says that Tyre would be destroyed. 20:46 Half a mile out in this, 20:48 I've flown over this in a Boeing 747, 20:51 taken pictures up there, the island city of Tyre. 20:56 Nebuchadnezzar came against Tyre. 20:58 There is a prophecy given about Tyre. 21:02 It's in Ezekiel 26, 21:07 "And they shall destroy the walls of Tyre." 21:11 Come on, atheist, never heard of it? 21:14 Of course you haven't. 21:15 But now is your opportunity. 21:18 "They shall destroy the walls of Tyre, 21:19 break down her towers, 21:21 I will also scrape her dust from her 21:23 and make her like the top of a rock. 21:26 It shall be a place for spreading nets 21:29 in the midst of the sea," 21:31 observe, "for I have spoken," says the Lord God, 21:34 'it shall become plunder for the nations.'" 21:37 The city would be destroyed and thrown into the sea. 21:42 Ridiculous! 21:46 Well, Nebuchadnezzar came, he destroyed the city, 21:49 but he didn't throw it into the sea. 21:50 And then came the soldiers of Alexander the Great. 21:56 They marched to attack the city, 21:58 but the people were out here on an island. 22:01 So Alexander picked up all the ruins of Old Tyre 22:06 and threw them into the waters and built a causeway. 22:11 I have been there. 22:15 This is the present... 22:16 You could see the present coastline, 22:19 how hard it was buildup 22:20 by the erosion and sand going down to Tyre. 22:26 I went there. 22:27 Saw the causeway, saw the rubble, 22:32 everything from Old Tyre as I stood there. 22:36 So help me, God, as the truth. 22:39 Some fisherman came along, and they cast their nets 22:44 on Old Tyre in the midst of the sea. 22:50 So you say, you believe just because of faith. 22:54 No! 22:56 I believe not because of faith but because of evidence. 23:00 You see, I believe in facts so did Jesus, 23:06 "You will know the truth, 23:08 and the truth will make you free." 23:11 I believe in the facts. 23:14 I have seen thousands of atheists accept God 23:17 because of prophecy, but they had open hearts, 23:21 and you got to have an open heart too, my friend. 23:24 Don't say, "I'm just..." 23:26 Don't become bigoted like a bigoted religionist, 23:30 because atheism is a religion also. 23:35 Number 10 reason, it's very simple. 23:41 If you accept God, 23:43 you've got everything to gain and nothing to lose. 23:47 If God exists, and I believe it, 23:49 I've everything to gain and nothing to lose. 23:52 If I am wrong, 23:54 I have lost nothing, you see. 23:59 "If I do not believe in God, 24:02 I have nothing to gain but everything to lose. 24:05 If I am wrong, I have lost everything." 24:11 You see? 24:13 If I believe in God, I gain everything 24:15 and lose nothing that is worthwhile. 24:18 If I do not believe in God, 24:19 I gain nothing and lose everything. 24:23 Now back to the university. 24:27 The professor said to John, 24:30 "We are bringing the best atheistic professor 24:34 who is going to debate with you." 24:35 The auditorium was filled and the professor was late. 24:41 So they called and called. 24:45 And then John's professor came to John, and he said, 24:50 "She will not be coming 24:52 to debate today. 24:56 She has just taken her own life." 25:02 But why not? 25:05 If there is no God, 25:07 there is no man, you see. 25:12 This happened to my friend, Dr. John Hammond, 25:17 comes from Australia. 25:19 John went on, 25:21 no one to debate with, 25:23 so therefore, he gave his defense of God 25:27 and moved the hearts of the whole place. 25:30 John went on and got his doctorate 25:33 and became a great Christian educator. 25:37 He became what he was, 25:40 not because of blind faith, 25:44 but because honestly, 25:48 he believed in the facts. 25:50 And therefore, my message to you today, 25:54 my beloved atheist friend whom God loves. 25:58 And to you, my religious friend, 26:01 here it is. 26:02 Believe in the God, 26:07 who believes in you. 26:11 Amen. 26:18 The antichrist is in the temple of God. 26:24 I will read you the actual words 26:26 of the Great Roman Catholic Church. 26:31 More than a billion people pray to the dead. 26:36 But the Bible talks very plainly 26:38 about good angels 26:40 and bad angels. 26:44 Why on earth were you 26:48 and I born?
