00:01 Welcome to a new Carter Report series,
00:03 The Game Changers.
00:05 These rare individuals appear once in a lifetime.
00:09 Like a blazing meteor across the night sky,
00:12 they change the course of history.
00:15 They show us the way forward.
00:18 Welcome to The Game Changers.
00:26 Welcome back, my friends, to the Game Changers.
00:29 Today, we're talking about
00:30 the mighty prince of ancient Egypt,
00:33 Moses, the man who gave us
00:35 the first five books of the Bible,
00:37 and who changed the course of history.
00:41 I believe, we know who the pharaoh was
00:44 with whom Moses had the confrontation.
00:48 I believe, if you go according to the 15th century Exodus,
00:53 I believe, it was Tuthmosis III,
00:57 the stepson of Princess Hatshepsut,
01:01 who herself became the pharaoh.
01:04 Tuthmosis III was one of the greatest kings
01:07 in the history of the world.
01:09 He was a warrior king, mighty man,
01:12 man with great courage, man of great power and success.
01:16 Had tremendous armies, hundreds of chariots,
01:20 had a tremendous navy.
01:24 The question is, how could an old has been
01:29 who's 80 years of age,
01:32 who spent the last 40 years out on a desert,
01:35 how can he come and confront Tuthmosis III?
01:41 He goes up to Tuthmosis and he says,
01:43 "God has sent me, let my people go."
01:47 Now I want you to take the Bible,
01:49 look at Exodus 6:1, 2.
01:52 "And the Lord said to Moses,
01:54 'Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh.
01:58 For with a strong hand he will let them go,
02:02 and with a strong hand
02:04 he will drive them out of his land.'
02:07 And God spoke to Moses and said to him:
02:10 'I am the Lord.'"
02:13 Now listen, folks, I want you to know this.
02:17 Moses is not standing there just as Moses.
02:21 Moses is standing there as the servant of almighty God.
02:28 And I want you to know this, I don't care who you are.
02:32 I'm not worried about how bad your circumstances are
02:36 but listen to this.
02:38 Moses had a living faith in God.
02:41 He was not just a lot of talk. This was not a casual faith.
02:45 And I want you to know this.
02:48 One person and Almighty God are a majority.
02:55 If you've got God on your side, you don't need to be scared
02:59 of any crooked little attorney
03:03 or any person who wants to do you in.
03:06 One person plus God are greater
03:09 than the greatest army in the world.
03:12 Can you believe this?
03:13 One person plus God
03:15 are mightier than the mightiest Pharaoh.
03:20 You know some other stories, what about David and Goliath?
03:25 Just a little boy against a man 10 feet tall,
03:28 but he had God.
03:30 What about Luther? And the emperor?
03:33 One Roman Catholic monk standing up
03:36 against the whole of the Holy Roman Empire.
03:40 God plus one person are invincible.
03:43 What about Moses and Pharaoh?
03:46 He's not just an old beaten up 80-year old man,
03:50 but he's a man that is endowed
03:52 with the spirit of the living God.
03:55 But Pharaoh said, "I do not know the Lord,
03:59 and I will not led Israel go."
04:03 And what follows were told in sacred history.
04:07 A 10 devastating plagues...
04:11 God says, "I'll get your attention
04:13 because I'm in charge of the universe."
04:17 There comes the plague of blood,
04:19 the Nile, and the lakes become blood.
04:23 Then the frogs come up over all the land,
04:26 millions of frogs, then the lice come.
04:30 People are scratching. Then the flies come.
04:34 And then there's a plague upon the livestock.
04:38 And then the priests and everybody,
04:41 they break out in these dreadful boils.
04:44 Then the hail, and the thunder, and the lightning,
04:49 and then the locusts come,
04:51 and then there's the supernatural darkness,
04:54 and the tenth plague is the Passover.
04:58 Now the Bible says that before Jesus returns,
05:01 it says this in Revelation 16, there will come
05:05 seven great plagues upon this earth.
05:09 And the only way you can be saved
05:11 is through the blood of the Passover.
05:16 The tenth plague was the Passover,
05:18 what did it mean?
05:19 God said, "I'm going to pass through the land of Egypt
05:23 and every person who is not under the blood,
05:26 every person the firstborn child
05:30 is going to be destroyed."
05:33 And the people were told,
05:36 you've got to go and get a lamb.
05:39 And you've got to kill the lamb which is awful thing.
05:44 And you've got to take the blood of the lamb,
05:46 and you've got to put it on the doorpost,
05:49 on the lintel, and when the angel of death
05:54 passes over the Passover.
05:58 The Jews still keep it today.
06:00 The angel of death as he passes over,
06:03 he will look down, and when he sees the blood,
06:07 he will pass you over, and you will not be hurt.
06:13 So what was God teaching the people?
06:15 He was teaching the people, my friend, that the only way,
06:21 listen to me, the only way we can be saved
06:26 is through the blood of Christ because Christ is the Lamb.
06:31 We are not saved because of our goodness
06:34 or our righteousness
06:36 or because we've got a lot of earthly power
06:39 or because we've got a lot of money.
06:41 We're saved because of the blood of Christ,
06:45 you see.
06:46 You know, what that is called in the New Testament?
06:48 That is called the gospel of God.
06:52 This is the story of amazing grace.
06:55 There was safety for Israel but tragedy for Pharaoh
07:00 and his firstborn son.
07:02 His firstborn son died that night.
07:06 But there was salvation
07:07 for those who were under the blood,
07:10 and there will be salvation for you, my friend,
07:12 if you are under the blood of Christ.
07:18 Now listen, listen.
07:21 Then one of the greatest events
07:24 in the history of the human race occurred,
07:28 it is called by historians the Exodus.
07:32 If you turn to Exodus 13:21, it says,
07:38 "And the Lord went before them by day
07:41 in a pillar of cloud to lead the way,
07:44 and by night in a pillar of fire
07:46 to give them light, so as to go by day and night."
07:53 A vast number of people with their sheep
07:57 and their goats and everything else,
08:01 they left the land of Egypt.
08:06 This is how Israel was born, the nation of Israel.
08:12 And they were led by Moses who was led by God.
08:15 The Bible says, "They were led by a pillar in the daytime
08:21 and a pillar of fire at night time."
08:25 And then out came Pharaoh, most likely Tuthmosis III,
08:30 and his army.
08:31 And the children of Israel had got down beside the Red Sea
08:36 or the Reed Sea as some translation say.
08:39 I want you to notice the historical record,
08:42 Exodus 14:19.
08:45 Exodus 14.
08:46 "And the Angel of God,
08:48 who went before the camp of Israel,
08:50 moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud
08:54 went from before them and stood behind them."
08:59 This is amazing because he got the children of Israel,
09:02 and they are totally trapped in front of the raging waters
09:06 of the Red Sea
09:08 and behind are the armies of Pharaoh,
09:11 and they're out for blood.
09:13 And the pillar of cloud comes down between the two.
09:17 Now if you notice as we read on please.
09:20 Exodus 14:21, 22.
09:27 "Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea,
09:30 and the Lord caused the sea to go back
09:33 by a strong east wind all that night,
09:35 and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.
09:41 So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea
09:44 on the dry ground,
09:46 and the waters were a wall to them
09:48 on their right hand and on their left."
09:51 It is incredible, it is true.
09:55 And Moses the man of God was told by God,
09:58 "Reach out the rod,"
10:00 and he held out his rod, his staff.
10:03 And Almighty God split the sea in two.
10:09 And the children of Israel went through on dry land
10:12 and the skeptic says, "I cannot believe it."
10:17 But I want you to know this that the God who made the sea
10:21 can make the sea
10:23 go wherever He wants the sea to go, you see.
10:26 The God who walked on the water is the God who made the water.
10:32 You see this. Listen.
10:35 Then into the dry sea bed pulled the hordes of Pharaoh.
10:40 Exodus 14:27 says.
10:43 Exodus 14.
10:45 "And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea,
10:47 and when the morning appeared,
10:49 the sea returned to its full depth,
10:52 while the Egyptians were fleeing into it.
10:55 So the Lord overthrew the Egyptians
10:59 in the midst of the sea."
11:02 God's people went through on dry land
11:05 and Moses the man of God stretched out
11:08 his rod or the staff and the sea came back.
11:14 And the enemies of God were destroyed.
11:20 This indeed is one of the greatest stories
11:23 in the history of the human race.
11:26 We believe the pharaoh was Tuthmosis III.
11:30 I have been to his tomb on many occasions.
11:34 This is the tomb.
11:37 He died in March 1450 B.C., which is the very date
11:42 the Bible says, the Exodus took place.
11:45 Now I want to say this to every person today,
11:48 have faith in God.
11:50 You may feel trapped, but God can open your Red Sea,
11:55 He can deliver you, you see.
11:58 Maybe you have Pharaoh at your back,
12:01 some crooked attorney.
12:04 And the Red Sea in front of you and you are desperate.
12:08 But the God we serve is the Almighty God
12:12 who made the universe.
12:14 And then in Exodus 15:1, 2, they had a time of praise,
12:19 "Then Moses and the children of Israel
12:21 sang this song to the Lord,
12:24 and spoke, saying, 'I will sing to the Lord,
12:27 For He has triumphed gloriously!
12:31 The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!
12:35 The Lord is my strength and song,
12:38 And He has become my salvation, He is my God,
12:42 and I will praise Him, My father's God,
12:44 and I will exalt Him.
12:47 Listen to me.
12:49 You may be in a desperate set of circumstances
12:55 but there is nothing desperate with God.
12:59 The God who lived in the days of Moses
13:03 is the same great God who lives today.
13:07 Therefore, I say to you have faith in God.
13:12 Then Moses, little while later after they get through
13:16 the Red Sea, after this mighty merry go,
13:19 Moses is called up to the mountain
13:21 to meet with God.
13:23 Can you believe it?
13:24 Exodus 33:11 says these words,
13:28 "So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face,
13:32 as a man speaks to his friend."
13:37 Almost too hard to believe.
13:40 He spoke to God.
13:42 And yet the Bible says,
13:44 He was the meekest man on earth.
13:47 It doesn't say the weakest.
13:49 But he was the meekest man on earth.
13:52 A man... Think of these words.
13:55 Honesty, truthfulness, integrity,
13:59 courage, God's man.
14:07 So different to many so-called leaders today.
14:12 We're talking about Moses today but most great leaders today
14:17 either in the world or in the church
14:19 will soon be forgotten but never Moses.
14:24 One great writer said these words,
14:26 "The greatest want of the world is the want of men,
14:32 men who will not be bought or sold,
14:36 men who in their inmost souls are true and honest,
14:42 men who do not fear to call sin by its right name,
14:47 men whose conscience is as true to duty
14:50 as the needle to the pole,
14:53 men who will stand for the right
14:56 though the heavens fall."
14:59 Now Moses was not a wimp.
15:06 Moses was not a coward.
15:09 And dare I say this to you,
15:12 Moses was not a sniveling politician.
15:18 Who simply lies to get the vote,
15:21 and who lies every day to build up his base.
15:29 Moses was God's man doing God's work.
15:40 One of the greatest events after the Exodus
15:44 in the history of the human race
15:47 was when God gave to Moses the Ten Commandments.
15:51 Moses went up on the mountain.
15:56 The Bible says he spoke to God face to face.
16:02 He was called the friend of God.
16:05 He spoke to God as a man talks to his friend.
16:11 And then God delivered to Israel
16:15 and to the people of the world the Ten Commandments.
16:21 The basis of every great nation,
16:24 I'm going to say some strong things.
16:26 The foundation of every church, synagogue, and mosque,
16:30 the Ten Commandments.
16:32 The guiding faith of the pillar of society, the home.
16:37 The Ten Commandments.
16:40 When you read the story of Moses,
16:42 you discover the story of the gospel
16:44 that we are saved by the blood of the Lamb,
16:47 we are not saved by our own works,
16:49 we are saved because the Lamb died for us.
16:52 That's why John the Baptist said,
16:54 "Behold the Lamb of God," speaking of Jesus.
16:58 And so Moses gave us the gospel,
17:00 and he also gave us
17:01 the Ten Commandments, notice them.
17:04 "You shall have no other gods, but the Lord, but Yahweh,
17:10 Elohim, the Creator, the Lord God.
17:15 Moses the great monotheist.
17:20 Monotheism is the basis of everything that is good
17:24 and decent in the world, monotheism.
17:28 It paved the way for all scientific research.
17:32 "You shall have no other gods before Me.
17:36 You shall not make or worship a carved image."
17:39 The Bible says, "No images in my church,"
17:43 where people fall down and worship.
17:46 "You shall not misuse the name of the Lord, your God."
17:50 And yet we hear people blaspheming
17:53 on television all the time
17:55 and in the streets the name of God.
17:59 Their day is coming.
18:01 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
18:04 You shall do no work on my Sabbath.
18:07 Honor your father and your mother.
18:10 You shall not murder.
18:13 You shall not commit adultery.
18:17 You shall not steal.
18:19 You shall not bear false witness.
18:22 No lying."
18:25 I would suggest that you go online
18:28 and purchase the book The Day America Told the Truth.
18:34 It is a book written by some sociologist
18:37 that is all comprehensive.
18:43 It is interviewed tens of thousands of people
18:47 and the authors tell us that 92% of us are liars.
18:54 It says we lie about everything.
18:58 And yet the Bible makes it very plain
19:00 that all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire.
19:07 "You shall not bear false witness.
19:09 You shall not covet."
19:13 When I was a boy growing up in Australia,
19:17 I went to a state school, no church school,
19:20 I went to a state school
19:22 and we started the day with prayer,
19:25 and we were taught the Ten Commandments.
19:31 What has happened to America, and Australia, and Britain
19:36 since we kicked God out of the classroom?
19:40 I will tell you, today you can teach evolution in the schools
19:45 but not intelligent design.
19:48 You can teach Nietzsche who paved the way for Hitler,
19:52 but you cannot teach the teachings of Christ.
19:58 And we wonder why America is a place of insecurity
20:04 where even when you send your kids to school,
20:07 you don't know whether they're going to come back,
20:10 and people say, "What on earth is going wrong?"
20:13 It is because we've got rid of God
20:14 and the Ten Commandments.
20:16 That's right.
20:19 You know, I get tired, I turn on CNN
20:21 and other stations, and they have every person
20:23 on saying what the problem is.
20:25 The problem is we've got rid of God,
20:28 and we've got rid of Christ,
20:29 and we've got rid of the commandments of God.
20:31 That's what it is.
20:33 Karl Barth quoted, "When the holy day
20:36 becomes the day of man",
20:38 he was talking about the Sabbath,
20:39 he said, "society and humanity wither away
20:44 and the demons rule."
20:45 You get rid of God,
20:48 and you get rid of everything decent,
20:51 why so much drunkenness?
20:54 Why the opioid crisis?
20:57 Why the heroin crisis?
21:00 You don't have to be too smart, just honest.
21:05 We got rid of God.
21:08 The happiest people in the world
21:10 are those who keep the commandments of God.
21:13 When Israel kept God's commandments,
21:15 they were a blessed people, so was America.
21:19 But there are forces working today in America
21:22 to crucify Christ on the cross again.
21:27 Look at Deuteronomy 28:1-3.
21:30 Deuteronomy 28:1-3, "Now it shall come to pass,
21:34 if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God,
21:40 to observe carefully all His commandments,
21:43 which I command you today, that the Lord your God
21:46 will set you high above all the nations of the earth.
21:50 And all these blessings shall come upon you
21:53 and overtake you,
21:54 because you obey the voice of the Lord your God.
21:59 Blessed shall you be in the city
22:01 and blessed shall you be in the country."
22:04 The Bible says, "You put God first,
22:06 and God will make you the greatest nation in the world."
22:11 What has happened to America?
22:21 Moses led the Israelites for 40 years
22:25 during which time the people often complained and rebelled.
22:29 They got thirsty, God said, "Go, Moses, speak to the rock."
22:34 Moses is old, he's tired, he's frustrated.
22:39 The people are giving him a hard time.
22:41 He goes to the rock, and he smites it twice,
22:45 "Must we fetch you water out of this rock."
22:52 And God says, "I love you, Moses,
22:55 but I can't take you into the Promised Land,
22:58 you dishonored me."
23:00 Moses almost argued with God, he said, "But God, God..."
23:03 And God said, "Moses, no more."
23:06 And so God thought if he kept talking,
23:08 he'd talk him into it.
23:11 And then Moses climbed Mount Nebo, God said,
23:14 "The time has come."
23:16 God showed him the Promised Land.
23:18 "He was a 120 years old, his eyes were not dim,
23:22 nor his natural vigor diminished."
23:26 God showed him the great land, the Promised Land.
23:30 And then he showed him the kingdom of God
23:34 that one day would come when Jesus came.
23:38 And then Moses got very tired,
23:43 and he lay down.
23:46 And the text says, "He buried him there."
23:50 That was God, God buried him.
23:54 So Moses didn't get into the land of Canaan.
23:58 He died within sight.
24:02 But later on, Scripture says, "Jesus came down,
24:09 and Jesus resurrected him.
24:12 And Jesus took him home to glory."
24:17 Moses is in heaven. Praise God.
24:22 He's home.
24:24 Listen to me, I've had the great privilege
24:28 of going into the Royal Mummy Room
24:31 with Dr. Hawass,
24:32 the Supreme Director of Antiquities for all of Egypt.
24:37 I've seen the greatest of the Pharaohs,
24:40 I've seen Tuthmosis III, I've seen Rameses the Great,
24:45 I've even seen the mummy of Hatshepsut.
24:49 I've seen the greatest people that this whole world
24:54 has ever seen in ancient times, the mighty pharaohs,
25:00 the people who built those tremendous buildings.
25:06 I've looked at them all.
25:07 I've had a little chat with them all.
25:08 This is Rameses the Great.
25:11 But there's one person I didn't find there.
25:15 Moses, he could have been there.
25:20 He could have been there.
25:22 But Moses made the right choice.
25:25 The Bible says in the Book of Hebrews,
25:28 "Moses decided in his soul that he would choose
25:33 Christ over the treasures of Egypt.
25:37 He could have been the Pharaoh.
25:40 He could have had the golden death mask
25:46 and being a mummy.
25:48 But Moses today...
25:54 Moses is home in glory.
25:58 If you follow the example of Moses
26:03 and choose Christ over this world,
26:08 one day you will be with Christ
26:13 and Moses in glory.
26:17 Amen.
26:26 Jesus said, "All authority has been given to Me
26:29 in heaven and on earth.
26:32 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
26:36 baptizing them in the name of the Father,
26:39 and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
