00:01 A new world is coming,
00:04 governed by new and different laws. 00:06 One day soon, 00:08 the heavens and the earth will pass away, 00:10 and a new world will be created. 00:13 What will existence be like in this new age? 00:17 Who will inhabit this new world 00:19 where the old laws of decay and death 00:21 will be replaced 00:22 by the new laws of endless vitality 00:24 and happiness? 00:26 Please join us for "The World To Come." 00:34 Welcome back, my friend. 00:36 We're talking about "The World To Come." 00:39 We're talking about God creating a new heaven 00:42 and a new earth. 00:44 We're talking about God creating a new cosmos. 00:48 And this is described in the scriptures 00:51 that God is going to have a brand new world 00:54 with brand new people, 00:57 and you can be a part of this. 01:00 Would you come in the Bible to 2 Peter 3:7. 01:05 Now I have lots of folks who say when they hear this, 01:08 never knew about this before, never heard this in church, 01:11 and didn't know about the scientific truth, 01:14 but just listen 01:16 because you'll hear things at the Carter Report 01:18 that you're not going to hear anywhere else. 01:21 2 Peter 3:7. 01:24 "But the heavens and the earth 01:26 which are now preserved by the same word, 01:30 are reserved for fire until the day of judgment 01:34 and perdition of ungodly men." 01:37 The Bible says 01:38 that there is coming a day of total destruction by fire 01:43 and the heavens are going to be destroyed. 01:46 Now if you look at verse 10 and verse 13, it says, 01:51 "But the day of the Lord 01:52 will come as a thief in the night..." 01:55 People are not going to be ready. 01:56 They're not going to be expecting this amazing event. 02:00 "The day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, 02:03 in which the heavens 02:04 will pass away with a great noise." 02:07 That's talking about the stellar events, 02:10 atmosphere too. 02:11 Whole lot of it says, 02:14 "The heavens will pass away with a great noise, 02:17 and the elements will melt with fervent heat, 02:21 the cosmos catches on fire, 02:25 both the earth and the works 02:27 that are in it will be burned up." 02:31 And verse 13 says, and this is the good news, 02:34 "Nevertheless we, according to His promise, 02:37 look for new heavens and a new earth 02:41 in which righteousness dwells." 02:45 Listen, I'll tell you stuff here, 02:47 I know it's pretty heavy and people said, 02:49 they don't hear this sort of stuff in church, 02:52 talk about science, the Bible, and prophecy. 02:54 Yes we do. 02:57 We don't tell people who come to the Carter Report 02:59 to check their brains in at the door. 03:02 We say, "Bring your brains with you." 03:03 And you can think about these things. 03:05 And you can question these things. 03:08 Now, the first segment of this program, 03:10 we spoke about the vastness of the universe. 03:15 Two trillion galaxies. 03:18 Each galaxy consists of 200 billion blazing sun, 03:24 trillions of planets. 03:27 But the Bible tells us 03:28 that this whole thing had a beginning. 03:31 Scientists call it the Big Bang, 03:33 you can call it what you like, 03:35 but there was a time when there was nothing, 03:38 there was no time, 03:40 and all of a sudden the vast universe was created. 03:43 And since then it has been expanding 03:46 at a tremendous velocity, going out, and out, and out. 03:50 Therefore, it is doomed to destruction. 03:57 And the Bible says that when the human race 04:00 so violate this planet, 04:04 when they destroy this planet 04:06 with terrible gases and nuclear wars, 04:11 which is described in the Book of Revelation. 04:13 When these things happen, 04:15 the Bible says that all mighty God 04:18 will step into the history of the human race 04:21 for the second time. 04:23 And the Bible says, 04:24 "Almighty God, the great prime mover, 04:27 the one who started the whole thing. 04:30 He's going to create new heavens and a new earth. 04:35 Not oblivion, 04:38 but a new glorious creation. 04:43 Question is that comes into my mind today 04:45 is what will it be like? 04:48 If there's going to come a new creation, 04:51 what on earth is it going to be like? 04:53 The Bible says, "It's going to be a creation, 04:56 no sin, no pain and no deaths. 05:03 Now please come to the words of Christ, 05:05 the Son of God, the Creator of the universe. 05:08 In John 11:25 and 26. 05:12 John 11:25 and 26, "Jesus said to her, 05:19 'I'm the resurrection and the life. 05:21 He who believes in Me, 05:23 though he may die..." Listen to this. 05:26 "Though He may die, 05:28 he shall live, 05:31 and whoever lives and believes in Me 05:32 shall never die. 05:34 Do you believe this?'" 05:36 Last night, I was talking to a friend on the phone, 05:40 and the friend said to me, "When I die, that's it? 05:45 I'm finished. I know this." 05:47 I said, "No, no, that's not the end. 05:49 You can live for..." 05:50 "Oh, that's just what you want to believe." 05:52 "No, it's not just what I want to believe." 05:54 I believe it not because I want to believe it, 05:56 I believe it because it is the truth," you see. 06:01 The hardest thing to pry open 06:04 is a closed, bigoted mind. 06:10 Did you know this? 06:11 There are plenty of bigoted religious people, 06:15 and plenty of bigoted people who call themselves atheists. 06:21 I was flying back to Australia 06:23 with United, sat down, 06:25 lady sitting beside me drinking all the time. 06:30 Drank for 14.5 hours in the flight. 06:32 Couldn't stop drinking. 06:34 I had to help her up and get a bag down 06:36 at the end of the flight. 06:38 She said, "What do you do?" I told her, "What I did?" 06:40 And she was openly scornful, "Ha, ha, ha, I don't believe. 06:46 I don't believe any of this stuff." 06:48 I said, "What do you do?" 06:49 "I'm a producer from Hollywood." 06:51 Oh, well, that's fine. 06:52 That's good. 06:53 Many wonderful people come out of Hollywood. 06:56 I told her I was a believer. 06:57 She said, "It's stupid." 06:59 I said, "Can I talk to you about the anthropic principle? 07:04 Can I talk to you about the strong nuclear force, 07:07 weak nuclear force, gravity, and electromagnetism, 07:10 and the balance, 07:11 one in a trillion..." 07:13 "I don't want to hear that stuff. 07:15 I don't want to hear that stuff. 07:16 I want to be comfortable in my atheism." 07:21 You know what you call that? 07:22 That's religious bigotry 07:24 because atheism is another religion. 07:27 And unfortunately, there are just as many bigoted atheists 07:31 as there are bigoted religionists 07:35 who call themselves Christians, you see. 07:39 But the Bible tells us, if you study the scriptures, 07:41 it describes as a creation of the universe, 07:44 but God is going to make a new heaven and a new earth, 07:47 and Jesus said, "No more death." 07:51 Have you heard 07:53 of the second law of thermodynamics? 07:57 Have you heard of this? 07:59 The second law... 08:00 Go and Google it. 08:02 The second law of thermodynamics. 08:05 You know what it teaches? 08:06 Everything breaks down, 08:09 everything tends towards disorder. 08:12 Okay? 08:13 Look at your children's bedrooms 08:15 and you'll believe in thermodynamics. 08:17 Everything breaks down, 08:19 everything decays, we could not live without it. 08:24 It fuels the fires in our bodies. 08:27 Everything in the universe, 08:29 the sun is operating on the law of thermodynamics. 08:33 Everything is breaking down, burning up, dying. 08:38 That's the law of death. 08:41 We're a part of it. 08:43 We can't escape from it. 08:45 Everything comes to an end. 08:48 But Jesus said, "One day 08:50 I'm going to create new heavens and a new earth." 08:52 And then He said, 08:55 "If you believe in me, even though you die, 08:57 you are going to live for eternity." 09:01 So this tells me 09:02 that this new creation is going to be a world 09:07 that is not ruled by the law 09:09 of decay and death. 09:14 There's going to be no sin. 09:17 And therefore, there's going to be no death. 09:21 You think of it. 09:22 Living for eternity, 09:23 being fresher's of daisy every morning, 09:26 and full of vim and vigor. 09:30 Or as Norman Tiga used to say, full of women vigor. 09:35 I recently visited the hospital in Thousand Oaks, where I live. 09:40 Live in beautiful Thousand Oaks in Southern California. 09:44 I went to see a good man, a good friend, 09:49 really good person. 09:50 He used to come to these meetings, 09:52 He used to sit there. 09:53 I tell you, I still miss him. 09:55 I'm going to miss him for a long, long time, 09:57 Paul Horton. 09:58 I visited him time after time. 10:00 But I couldn't talk to him. 10:02 You know why? 10:03 He is unconscious, then he died. 10:06 But it's not over with Paul, 10:08 I want you to know that. 10:10 Paul Horton, one day is going to wake up, 10:12 he's going to be a young man, he's going to be strong, 10:14 he's going to be full of youth, 10:16 he will not be controlled 10:17 by the second law of thermodynamics. 10:20 His body will not break down, 10:22 his body will not tend towards disintegration, 10:25 but he will be a young person. 10:29 So an unbeliever says to me, "I can't believe this. 10:31 I can't believe this. I can't understand it." 10:33 Oh dear, you can't understand it? 10:36 Are you kidding me? 10:37 How much do we understand? 10:40 How many here in this room 10:41 understand Einstein's theory of relativity? 10:45 I understand a little bit of it. 10:47 I understand enough of it 10:48 to know how much I don't understand. 10:51 E=mc square. 10:52 A lot of things I don't understand, 10:54 but I accept them because they are the truth. 10:57 The person who says, 10:58 "I won't believe in anything until I accept." 11:00 I understand everything will never believe in anything. 11:04 But today, he's go to come in a new world order 11:06 where there will be no hospitals and no doctors. 11:11 And we're saying against doctors, 11:14 no doctors, no funerals, no death. 11:20 This is the world to come. 11:24 Let me tell you, folks, something. 11:26 But know death is not good news 11:27 if the quality of life is really bad. 11:30 Who wants to live, if you're in pain, 11:33 psychologically, mentally, physically, 11:35 who wants to live on for eternity? 11:37 If every day is a hell 11:39 and it is a hell for so many people. 11:42 Turn to 2 Corinthians 4:16 and 17. 11:45 2 Corinthians 4:16 and 17. 11:48 "Therefore we do not lose heart. 11:51 Even though our outward man is perishing..." 11:53 That's true. 11:55 "Yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 11:58 For our light affliction, 12:00 which is but for a moment, 12:02 is working for us a far more exceeding 12:04 and eternal weight of glory." 12:06 Bible says, "It's going to be a state of glory 12:11 and it's going to be glory on top of glory." 12:16 Look at Revelation 21:1 and 3. 12:20 And please turn to the texts, 12:22 looking up the texts will do you good. 12:25 Revelation 21:1 and 3. 12:27 "Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, 12:30 for the first heaven and the first earth 12:31 had passed away..." 12:33 That's the whole thing. 12:34 "Also, there was no more sea. 12:36 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, 12:39 'Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, 12:41 and He will dwell with them, 12:43 and they shall be His people. 12:45 God Himself shall be with them and be their God.'" 12:48 So the Bible says, 12:50 "God is not going to just 12:51 patch up this old world." 12:55 We've got a pretty nice house here in Thousand Oaks, 12:58 but it's like the owners it's getting on. 13:02 And when you get on a bit, you know what starts to happen? 13:06 No, I don't know. 13:07 I'm not saying, I'm breaking down. 13:10 What I'm telling you is, 13:11 you sometimes start to get a few creeks. 13:15 You meet somebody they say, 13:16 "You know the old man who went to the doctor 13:21 because his leg was really bad hurting, 13:25 had bad leg." 13:26 And the doctor said, 13:28 "Tommy said, 'it's because of your age.'" 13:33 He said, "My leg is bad because of my age, doctor?" 13:36 "Yeah, because of your age. 13:38 Well, he said the other leg is just as old 13:40 and it's doing just fine. 13:42 Okay. 13:46 But, folks, the day is coming 13:49 when things are going to be good. 13:52 Revelation 21:4 and 5. 13:54 Revelation 21:4 and 5. 13:56 "God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. 14:00 There shall be no more deaths, no sorrow, nor crying. 14:04 There shall be no more pain, 14:06 for the former things have passed away. 14:08 Then He who sat on the throne said, 14:10 'Behold, I make all things all things...'" 14:13 He makes all things, not renews it. 14:15 "He makes all things new.' 14:18 And He said to me, 14:19 'Write, for these words are true and faithful.'" 14:24 So God's not going to patch it up. 14:26 He's not going to put a new coat of paint 14:28 on the old building. 14:30 He's not going to put on some marble sinks 14:33 and a few things to add and fix up the bathroom. 14:38 The Bible says, "He's going to make everything new. 14:43 And He's going to make His people new." 14:46 Every day will be glory. 14:49 This is a great old hymn. 14:51 When all my labors and trials are o'er 14:54 And I am safe on that beautiful shore 14:57 Just to be near the dear Lord I adore 15:00 Will through the ages be, what? 15:02 Glory for me 15:04 Friends, we'll be there, 15:06 I've loved long ago 15:08 Joy like a river around me will flow 15:11 Yet just a smile from my Savior 15:14 I know Will through the ages be glory for me 15:20 Then the course, O that will be... 15:23 You'd like me to sing it? No. 15:24 O that will be glory for me 15:28 Glory for me, 15:31 glory for me 15:32 When by His grace I shall look on His face 15:36 That will be glory, 15:39 be glory for me 15:41 So the day is coming. 15:43 This is not pie in the sky and sweet by and by. 15:46 This is not religious talk. 15:49 I teach these things 15:51 because my faith is based upon evidence. 15:54 If your faith is based upon what you want it to be, 15:57 then you are deceived. 16:00 An intelligent faith is got to rest upon evidence. 16:06 And I want you to know, I got evidence to believe. 16:08 I don't believe just because I'm paid to believe 16:10 or because I feel like I want to believe. 16:12 I believe, it's because 16:14 it is the reasonable thing to do. 16:17 It's a smart thing. 16:19 No more tears, 16:21 no more sorrows, 16:24 no cancers, 16:26 no pain, 16:27 no stillbirths, no disappointments, no end, 16:32 glory for me. 16:34 Romans 8:18. 16:35 Look at it. Romans 8:18. 16:37 "For I consider that the sufferings 16:39 of this present time 16:40 are not worthy to be compared with the glory 16:43 that shall be revealed in us." 16:45 Nothing you've got here can't even compare, 16:50 can't come near it with the glory. 16:53 Romans 8:21. 16:55 Romans 8:21. 16:57 "Because the creation itself also will be delivered 17:01 from the bondage of corruption." 17:05 This earth is in the bondage of corruption, 17:08 even the animals. 17:10 "It's going to be delivered 17:12 into the glorious liberty of the children of God." 17:16 So it's going to be marvelous. 17:21 Deliverance from bondage. 17:24 My old Roman Catholic father, 17:28 who was an altar boy 17:30 in the Catholic Church in Australia, 17:34 who finally found the Gospel of Christ 17:36 after a life of disillusionment, 17:39 and sorrow, and pain, and fear of the flame. 17:45 He found Christ 17:47 and was saved at last. 17:48 My own mother who taught me to pray, 17:53 every day I went out to school, was a high school boy, 17:56 she'd say, "Come on, John, have a prayer." 18:00 Didn't like it much, 18:03 but it saved my soul. 18:06 Parents who can't pray with their children 18:07 are not doing the right thing by their children. 18:11 Kids need prayer today. 18:14 My old friend Dr. Graeme Bradford, 18:16 how could you not like that face? 18:20 Great theologian, great scholar, great preacher, 18:25 great Christian, honest as the day is long. 18:29 People said to him, "Well, you know, Dr. Bradford, 18:32 you're not going to get promoted 18:34 unless you give up those ideas. 18:37 He said, "I don't care. 18:39 I don't care." 18:42 Fancy being a minister 18:44 who couldn't preach what he knew was the truth 18:47 because he wanted to get promoted. 18:52 Goodness me. 18:53 I mean, what a crazy sick way of thinking. 18:58 But this man was my best friend, 19:00 we used to talk a lot on the phone 19:02 and discuss theology. 19:05 Well, he is resting in Christ, he is going to be delivered. 19:09 My friend, Tom Ludowici, 19:10 how could you not like that face? 19:12 What a great guy. 19:14 Tom Ludowici, 19:15 who led me to Christ, 19:17 when I was 17 years of age. 19:21 Became head chaplain, Sydney Adventist Hospital, 19:25 loved all through that part of the world. 19:27 Sydney Adventist Hospital, 19:28 it's one of the greatest hospitals 19:30 that you'd find anywhere. 19:33 One of the greatest private hospitals in the world. 19:36 Huge hospital. 19:37 Tom took care of the spiritual needs, 19:40 he was my buddy. 19:45 He's going to be delivered. 19:47 And that will be glory for me and for them. 19:52 John 14:1-3. 19:53 Look at it again. 19:55 John 14:1-3. 19:56 Look at it again. 19:58 Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled..." 20:00 You worried? 20:02 Jesus said, "You worried?" 20:03 "Let not your heart be troubled, 20:05 you believe in God..." 20:07 That's okay. 20:08 "But believe also in Me. 20:11 In My Father's house..." 20:12 It's not up there in Mars. 20:17 It's not out there 20:18 in the Andromeda Galaxy anything like? 20:21 No, no, no. 20:23 It's beyond time and space. 20:25 God is not a part of time and space. 20:27 We don't believe in pantheism, you see. 20:30 Don't believe in that nonsense. 20:33 "In My Father's house are many mansions, 20:36 if it were not so, I would have told you. 20:39 I go to prepare a place for you. 20:42 If I go and prepare a place for you, 20:46 I will come again 20:49 and receive you unto Myself, 20:51 that where I am, there you may be also." 20:56 So you don't need to worry 20:58 if you have true faith in God. 21:00 If you don't have true faith in God, 21:03 you've got a lot of things to be worried about 21:06 because you turn on the television. 21:09 Goodness me. I said to Beverley, "Turn off." 21:12 She's like, "Don't you want to know what's going on?" 21:13 "I already know what's going on." 21:16 You look at what's happening in Washington. 21:19 People says, "Oh, it was great." 21:20 Oh, is it? 21:22 And around the world, what's happening? 21:27 In fact, one of the leaders of the nation, 21:29 who advises the president, said, 21:32 "You don't want to know what's going on. 21:35 You couldn't sleep if you knew what was going on." 21:39 But I know what's going on. 21:42 Jesus is coming. 21:43 Amen. 21:45 The most amazing truth is this. 21:47 Now what I've told you about the Big Bang, 21:51 and relativity, and all that stuff 21:52 that most of us can't understand anyhow, 21:54 including me. 21:56 The most amazing truth is this 21:58 that the God man from the Father's house 22:02 was born of a peasant girl. 22:04 Bit hard to believe, isn't it? 22:07 Born of a peasant God. 22:08 He was the creator of the universe. 22:13 He died on a cross to save my soul. 22:16 That's the greatest truth. 22:18 When you get to know that God, you become a different person. 22:22 You won't be a niggly, 22:24 critical, narrow-minded, little religious bigot 22:29 because a big God will redeem your soul. 22:31 There was a little girl lost in the great city of London 22:34 that I love very much. 22:37 And this happened more than hundred years ago. 22:40 Got lost and she was crying, she was found by bobby. 22:43 You know what... Who bobby is? 22:46 It's a London policeman with those great hats. 22:49 And the policeman said to little girl, 22:52 "Do you know such and such a place?" 22:53 "No." "Do you know?" "No." 22:55 "I didn't know how to get at home." 22:57 Then the policeman 22:59 with a spark of genius, flash of genius, 23:02 he said, "Do you know 23:03 St Paul's Cathedral, the great, great church?" 23:09 Yeah, later on it was bombed by the Natzis, but survived. 23:13 You know, St. Paul's... 23:15 You know, the church, the big church 23:17 with the cross on the top 23:20 and a little face stood up 23:21 and she said, "Oh yes, yes, yes. 23:25 I know the cross, 23:28 take me to the cross, 23:32 and then I can find my way home." 23:36 If you want to get home, 23:39 you don't get home by way of Mount Sinai. 23:44 That tells you what a mess we made of things. 23:48 You get home by way of the cross 23:52 that tells us that God loves us. 23:57 Think about it. 23:59 You know, our brains are so slow. 24:02 We're so dumb witted. 24:04 We're so superstitious, we're so stupid. 24:12 Can't stay off our cell phones for one second. 24:14 That's because we got brain damage. 24:17 Not laughing. I'm not laughing. 24:20 This is serious business, 24:22 I'm not laughing about brain damage. 24:27 But if we could only realize 24:28 that the one who made the cosmos, 24:32 who lived for billions and trillions of years, 24:35 in Christ, he became a man. 24:39 And He was born of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 24:42 can you believe it? 24:43 God came down 24:46 and was cradled in the womb of a girl for nine months. 24:51 And then, I guess with crying and pain, 24:55 He came into the world 24:58 and He went to the cross 25:00 because I don't understand it. 25:02 Some things you don't need to understand, 25:03 but you need to believe this 25:07 that God loves you. 25:09 Great God who made the stars, loves you. 25:12 Don't harden your heart. 25:14 That is foolishness beyond degree. 25:18 I'm not going to believe, I'm smart. 25:20 No, you're not smart. 25:23 To turn from Christ is the dumbest thing 25:26 a man can ever do. 25:28 But to believe in Christ, 25:32 and trust in Christ, 25:34 and take Christ into the heart 25:37 that opens the door to the Father's house. 25:42 And it gives us a guarantee, my friend, 25:46 it gives us a guarantee 25:52 of a mansion in the world to come 25:57 when God makes all things new. 26:01 So in this today, 26:02 we see a revelation of God's goodness. 26:06 And they should go home today, know this, 26:10 God loves you. 26:12 And Jesus is preparing a home for you in glory. 26:19 Amen. 26:27 There's only one thing that really counts in this lifetime, 26:31 your relationship to Christ. 26:33 And then if you have 26:35 a right relationship with Christ, 26:37 you want to tell people about Christ. 26:40 That's why Jesus said, "Go into all the world 26:43 and preach the gospel to every creature." 26:46 By the grace of God we're going to do that, 26:49 we are doing that. 26:51 That is why we're going back to Cuba 26:54 to this communist land to preach Christ. 26:58 We're accepting an invitation to go to the vast, 27:02 huge city of Manila, the capital of the Philippines, 27:07 been there before, 27:08 but by the grace of God, we're going back. 27:12 Please support us. 27:13 And please stand with us 27:16 in the preaching of the everlasting gospel. 27:19 You say, "How do you do it? 27:20 Who pays the bills?" 27:22 We do. 27:23 "You get any help, 27:25 financial help from the church?" 27:26 No, my friend. We don't. 27:28 But we get a lot of help from God and from His children. 27:32 Please support us 27:34 in the preaching of the everlasting gospel. 27:37 It's the most important work in all the world. 27:40 Everything else is almost trivia. 27:43 So would you please write to me? 27:47 John Carter, P.O.
