00:01 Everyone once believed in the devil,
00:04 a horrible red demon with pointy horns, 00:06 a long tail and a pitchfork in his hands. 00:10 This fanciful creature was invented 00:11 by superstitious religious fanatics in the Dark Ages. 00:15 Most people today no longer believe 00:17 in this foolish devil myth. 00:19 Many today have accepted the original version 00:21 that was taught by the prophets of the ancient scriptures. 00:24 This is about a beautiful, super intelligent, 00:27 powerful spirit being 00:28 who eons ago became the enemy of God 00:31 and the implacable foe of human being. 00:33 His name is Satan, 00:35 and he is alive and well on planet earth. 00:44 Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. 00:46 Today we're talking about Satan or Satan? 00:49 the mastermind of evil. 00:51 Now I want you to take your Bibles 00:53 and turn over here to Romans 5:12, 00:56 talking about how sin came into this planet, 00:59 into the human race. 01:01 Verse 12 says, "Therefore, 01:03 just as through one man, that's Adam, 01:07 sin entered the world, and death through sin, 01:11 thus death spread to all men, because all sinned." 01:16 When Adam and Eve gave into Satan, 01:21 Lucifer, Satan, or the serpent, 01:25 the Bible says, they opened up the doors 01:27 and a tsunami of sin, 01:30 lawlessness and death came into the world. 01:33 And the reason that we have 01:35 so much suffering in the world today 01:37 is because of the perversion of the gift of choice. 01:41 Why is there suffering? 01:43 Let me talk about this just for a bit. 01:47 Some suffering is caused by our own choices. 01:49 We're to blame for some of our own suffering. 01:52 If a person smokes, 01:54 don't blame God if you get lung cancer, 01:56 coercion effect. 01:57 Drunkenness, don't blame God 01:59 if you're driving and you have an accident. 02:01 Drunkenness causes divorces, diseases, car accidents, 02:05 crimes, especially rape and premature death. 02:09 So here you got the law of cause and effect. 02:12 And we should not be looking at God or even the devil 02:15 and saying, you know, devil made me do it. 02:18 But most suffering is the result of the bad choice 02:22 of Adam and Eve. 02:24 And Adam was the representative of the human race, 02:28 and that's why the innocent suffer. 02:32 That's why little babies die of cancer. 02:35 That's why millions of innocent people 02:37 do get caught up in awful wars. 02:40 And then you have, finally the anguish of death. 02:42 It's because of the choice of Adam and Eve. 02:47 Now, people have asked this question 02:49 and it's a good question. 02:50 Why didn't God make Satan, Adam, and Eve, 02:53 so they couldn't sin? 02:55 Then we wouldn't have any problems. 02:58 Well, let's be perfectly plain on this, my friends. 03:00 God could have made us so we didn't sin. 03:03 He could have. But God is not a tyrant. 03:08 You see, 03:10 do you want to be married to a robot? 03:13 Before you can have the capacity of love, 03:16 you've got to have the capacity of freedom of choice. 03:20 And so God made us 03:21 with this awesome capacity of choice. 03:27 Okay, is Satan the leader of an army of demons 03:32 or fallen angels? 03:35 Now, the demons are the fallen angels. 03:38 In the Bible, there's a story of a man 03:41 who was possessed by many demons. 03:44 And Jesus cast out the demons and they ended a herd of swine. 03:47 You can read this in Luke 8:27 and 30. 03:51 Look at the words. 03:52 "When he stepped out on the land, 03:54 there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons," 03:57 hey, he got demons inside, "for a long time. 04:00 And he wore no clothes, 04:02 nor did he live in a house but in the tombs. 04:05 Jesus asked him, saying, 'What is your name?' 04:07 And he said, 'Legion," at least a thousand, Legion," 04:11 because many demons had entered him. 04:14 And they begged him? that he would not command them 04:16 to go out into the abyss.'" 04:18 And so, Jesus let them go into a herd of pigs, 04:23 which is where they I belonged I guess. 04:27 But here is a clear case study in the Bible, 04:30 where you've got a person who's got demons. 04:34 Now do I believe in demons? 04:36 Yes, I do. 04:38 The manifestation of demons is in its raw form 04:43 most prevalent in third world countries 04:46 that are pagan countries. 04:50 But it can happen in first world countries 04:51 like Australia. 04:53 Dr. John Hammond and I 04:54 were invited to go to a place one day 04:56 in the city of Woy Woy, just north of Sydney. 04:59 And there was a woman who was... 05:01 Now, folks, this was scary 05:03 because when I walked into that place, 05:05 the hair on the back of my neck stood up, 05:10 same with John Hammond. 05:12 This was a woman 05:14 who had been consulting evil spirits. 05:18 Don't play with the devil, don't go to seances. 05:20 If you go to a seance, 05:22 you are going on the devil's ground 05:24 and the devil can get you. 05:27 Now this woman had got tied up in spiritism 05:29 and all those things, 05:31 and she asked us to come 05:32 because, you can believe this or not. 05:34 When she got into bed at night, 05:36 she said, "A being got into bed with her, 05:40 it's called Incubus." 05:42 And she said, the curtain rods from the living room 05:45 would come off and sail around the place 05:48 and chase her and the kids. 05:50 And the little kids were there and they were terrified. 05:54 We prayed for her, we struggled with her 05:57 most of the night. 05:58 Don't go to a seance. 06:01 Don't watch a television program 06:03 that talks about consulting the dead. 06:07 It's beyond dangerous. 06:10 What is Satan's agenda? 06:13 Now, He's a mighty general and he has an agenda. 06:18 Number one, to deceive and to tell lies. 06:23 He is called the father of liars. 06:28 Please turn to John 8:44. 06:31 John 8:44, Jesus said, 06:35 "You are of your father, the devil, 06:40 and the desires of your father you want to do. 06:43 He was a murderer from the beginning, 06:47 and does not stand in the truth, 06:49 because there is no truth in him. 06:52 When He speaks a lie, 06:54 he speaks from his own resources, 06:56 for he is a liar 06:59 and the father of it." 07:04 The Bible tells us that Satan is a liar. 07:11 Years ago when the evil empire 07:13 as Ronald Reagan rightly called the old Soviet Union. 07:17 He was right. 07:19 When they were having one of their big meetings 07:21 up the Kremlin, had their committee meeting, 07:24 and they had a new member of the committee, 07:27 he was from out in Siberia. 07:29 He had a little bit of decency left in him. 07:33 And the Kremlin leaders 07:34 were proposing to tell the Russian people 07:38 all these lies, all this propaganda. 07:43 This young guy got up and he said, 07:45 "Brother Comrade, excuse me, but this is not the truth." 07:51 I'm told there was a stunned silence. 07:55 And then they started to laugh. 07:58 They laughed, big deep belly laugh, 08:00 they laughed and they laughed, 08:02 they fell off their chairs. 08:07 He's saying, you're telling lies, comrades. 08:11 Then the chairman got up 08:13 after several minutes of uncontrolled laughter 08:15 because they were so red in the face. 08:17 He said, "Brother Comrade, let me tell you something, 08:23 whatever we say what we say is the truth is the truth, 08:27 it becomes the truth. 08:29 And if you do not understand that, 08:30 comrade, soon you'll be on your way to Siberia. 08:35 What we say is the truth. 08:39 That's why Reagan called it 08:42 the evil empire based on lies. 08:46 Listen to this. 08:48 Lying is the most deadly of sins. 08:50 A consistent and persistent liar 08:53 is almost irredeemable. 08:58 It is the most hopeless of sins 09:00 because a liar will come to the place 09:02 where he believes his lies. 09:05 That's how they can fool lie detector tests. 09:11 A liar... 09:13 Lies destroy marriages, families, churches and nations. 09:17 Woe to that nation 09:20 whose leaders are liars. 09:25 You hear what I'm saying, people tell... 09:27 Well doesn't matter he tells a few lies. 09:29 Oh, we all tell lies. No, we don't. 09:32 A liar is a bad person. 09:38 You know why I know that because Jesus said, 09:41 "You are of your father the devil." 09:47 If you're a liar, 09:48 don't expect to be saved because you won't be 09:51 unless you repent and are born again. 09:55 No liars will go to heaven. 09:59 The last great deception is a big, big lie. 10:02 2 Thessalonians 2:8-12. 10:05 2 Thessalonians 2, "And then the lawless one," 10:08 a lawless one against the law, "will be revealed, 10:11 whom the Lord will consume with the breath of his mouth 10:14 and destroy with the brightness of his coming. 10:17 The coming of the lawless one 10:19 is according to the working of Satan with all power 10:23 signs, and lying wonders, 10:25 and with all unrighteous deception 10:28 among those who perish, 10:29 because they did not receive the love of the truth, 10:33 that they might be saved. 10:35 And for this reason 10:36 God will send them strong delusion, 10:39 that they should believe the lie, 10:42 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth 10:46 but had pleasure in unrighteousness." 10:50 The last great deception is the big lie. 10:55 When antichrist will counterfeit 10:57 the coming of Christ. 10:58 People will say, "Christ has come." 11:01 A big lie. 11:04 One of the biggest sins of our age 11:07 is the sin of talking to the dead. 11:11 Like King Saul went to talk to the witch of Endor, 11:15 you know the story. 11:17 Satan was behind it, 11:18 and he goes to talk to the witch of Endor, 11:22 and she brings up this creature 11:25 that is pretending to be Samuel the Prophet. 11:29 If you are going to a seance, 11:32 and you think you're talking to your loved ones, 11:35 you are believing the lie. 11:38 That is not your loved one, it is an impersonating demon. 11:43 Hey. 11:47 He divides, deceives, divides. 11:51 He divided heaven. 11:53 He set one person against another. 11:55 He's a slanderer, the accuser. 11:57 What's happening today in America? 12:00 Americans are fighting each other. 12:04 Revelation 12:9 and 10," 12:07 So the great dragon was cast out, 12:09 that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, 12:12 who deceives the whole world, he was cast to the earth, 12:15 and his angels were cast out with him. 12:17 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, 12:19 'Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, 12:22 and the power of His Christ have come, 12:24 for the accuser of our brethren, 12:28 who accused him before our God day and night, 12:31 has been cast down.'" 12:32 He's alive and well on planet earth. 12:36 He's the divider 12:39 and the liar. 12:43 No person who loves his country, 12:45 or his church, or his family will indulge 12:48 in the sin of slander or name calling. 12:54 "You are of your father, the devil," Jesus said. 13:00 Politics around the world as it, 13:02 including politics in Washington D.C. 13:06 You know, it's true. 13:09 He discourages. 13:11 He leads the soul into sin, then says 13:13 "You're hopeless, I've got you." 13:16 It is the glory of Christ 13:18 to save the tempted and the fallen. 13:20 It's the glory of God to save the brand 13:23 plucked out of the burning. 13:26 Mary Magdalene, the Bible says had seven demons, 13:31 the town prostitute. 13:34 But her case was not hopeless. 13:37 She was saved by Christ, 13:40 became one of the chief of the saints. 13:42 He demoralizes. 13:45 And the word demoralize has got several meanings, 13:47 can mean lower the morale. 13:49 It can mean also to corrupt or undermine the morals of... 13:54 I refer to the latter. 13:56 Satan's war is against God's law. 14:00 2 Thessalonians 2, 3 and 4, 14:03 "Let no one deceive you by any means, for that Day," 14:06 the day of Christ return, "will not come 14:08 unless the falling away comes first 14:11 and the man of sin," the lawless man, "is revealed, 14:14 the son of perdition, 14:16 who opposes and exalts himself 14:18 above all that is called God, or that is worship, 14:21 so that he sits as God in the temple of God, 14:24 showing himself that he is God." 14:26 He goes to church. 14:29 Hey, he goes to church. 14:31 The devil goes to church. 14:37 He's the great deceiver. 14:41 The man of lawlessness, 14:43 he makes war against the law of marriage. 14:47 He says marriage in the Bible doesn't count. 14:50 The law of the Sabbath, 14:51 the law of the Ten Commandments, 14:53 the law of love to God and man, 14:56 Karl Barth said these words. 14:59 He said, "When the holy day becomes the day of man, 15:03 society, and humanity wither away 15:07 and the demons rule." 15:11 When people give up the holy day of God 15:14 as America has done 15:18 and every other so called Christian nation 15:20 around the world, you know what happens? 15:22 The demons rule. 15:27 And they are ruling now. 15:32 Remember what happened to the Roman Empire. 15:34 It was destroyed from within. 15:37 It rotted from within. 15:43 And the same will happen to us 15:46 unless we repent. 15:51 He devastates with disasters, with plagues, pestilences, 15:55 wars, and famines. 15:58 Revelation 11:18. 16:01 Revelation 11:18, "The nations were angry" 16:04 they are now, "and Your wrath has come, 16:07 and the time of the dead, that they should be judged." 16:10 That's the last days. 16:12 "And that you should reward Your servants, 16:14 the prophets and the saints, 16:15 and those are fear your name, small and great, 16:18 and should destroy those who destroy the earth." 16:24 Jesus will come when people, the nations 16:29 are destroying the earth and they're doing it now. 16:35 I listen to a sermon preached by Pastor Charles Stanley 16:39 when he said," Here in America, 16:42 we've been blessed with the protection of God. 16:45 His hand has been over us. 16:48 That's why we haven't been destroyed." 16:52 But he said, "As we turn from God 16:55 and His commandments, God doesn't send the disasters, 17:00 He withdraws His hand of protection. 17:03 And then my friend, the demons rule." 17:08 When did you last read your Bible? 17:11 When did you last my friend go to church? 17:16 When did you last study the Scriptures? 17:18 Remember the devil is out to get you. 17:24 The Bible says it. 17:27 But the good news is this. 17:29 We have a Savior, we have a Champion, 17:34 we have a David who slew Goliath, 17:38 and our David slew Goliath on the cross. 17:42 And when He died for our sins, He defeated the devil. 17:47 Look at Genesis 3:15. 17:50 Genesis 3:15, 17:52 "I will put enmity between you" the serpent "and the woman, 17:56 and between your seed and her seed, 18:00 he shall bruise your head," 18:02 Christ is going to crush him, "you shall bruise his heel." 18:06 The serpent bruised his heel on the cross, 18:11 but Christ is going to crush the serpent 18:14 under His feet, 18:16 and it's going to be a deadly wound. 18:21 We have a strong man who binds the adversary. 18:26 Look at Luke 11:20-22. 18:29 Luke 11:20-22, 18:31 "But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, 18:35 surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. 18:37 When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, 18:41 his goods are in peace. 18:43 But when a stronger than he comes upon him 18:46 and overcomes him, 18:48 he takes from him all his armor 18:51 in which he trusted, and divides his spoils." 18:54 The strong man is Satan, 18:57 but the Bible says there's a stronger man. 19:01 And if you're troubled with evil spirits, 19:04 stop going to the seance, 19:06 stop playing with spiritism. 19:11 Read your Bible. 19:13 Cry out for the strong man. 19:17 Now look at Luke 8:22 and 23. 19:20 Luke 8:22 and 23, "Now it happened..." 19:24 I like you folks to see the text 19:26 "Now it happened, on a certain day, 19:28 that He got into a boat with His disciples. 19:30 And He said to them, 'Let us cross over 19:32 to the other side of the lake.' 19:34 And they launched out. 19:35 But as they sailed He fell asleep. 19:37 And a windstorm came down on the lake, 19:40 and they were filled with water, 19:41 and they were in jeopardy." 19:44 So they're out on the lake. 19:47 Jesus is there. 19:50 The Bible tells us Jesus went to sleep. 19:53 He didn't care about those things. 19:54 He never worried. 19:56 He trusted in His Father. 19:59 But there comes a storm out of hell 20:03 and looks like they're going to drown. 20:07 And if you look at verse 24 and 25, 20:10 "And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, 20:12 'Master, Master, we are perishing!" 20:14 Had to wake him up. 20:16 "Then he arose, and rebuked the wind 20:17 and the raging of the water. 20:19 And they ceased, and there was a calm. 20:22 But he said to them, 'Where is your faith?' 20:24 They were afraid, and marveled, 20:25 saying to one another,' Who can this be? 20:28 For He commands even the winds and the water, 20:31 and they obey Him!" 20:33 Listen, look at me. 20:35 Jesus Christ is Lord over the elements. 20:40 He's Lord over the wind. 20:42 He's Lord over the water. 20:46 He's Lord over our problems. 20:48 He's Lord over the demons 20:51 and He is Lord over Satan. 20:55 He is the stronger man who comes, you see. 21:01 My friend, thank God, we have this good news. 21:04 Then the next verse, I believe, Luke 8:27 and 28, 21:09 we're going to take them in sequence. 21:11 "When he stepped out on the land, 21:13 there met Him a certain man from the city who had demons," 21:16 you don't believe in it? 21:17 You better now "demons for a long time. 21:21 Wore no clothes, 21:22 nor did he live in a house but in the tombs. 21:24 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, 21:27 fell down before Him, said with a loud voice, 21:29 'What have I to do with you, 21:31 Jesus, Son of the Most high God? 21:32 I beg you, don't torment me.'" 21:34 This is the devil talking from him, 21:36 talking through him. 21:38 He's a man who's got demons. 21:42 So don't doubt it. 21:44 Verses 29 and 30. 21:46 29 and 30, 21:48 "For He had commanded 21:49 the unclean spirit to come out of the man." 21:51 You don't believe it? Better believe it now. 21:54 "It had often seized him, 21:55 he was kept under guard, bound with chains and shackles. 21:59 He broke the bones and was driven by the demon 22:02 into the wilderness. 22:03 Jesus asked, him saying, 'What is your name? 22:05 What is your name?'" 22:08 Look at the next verse, verse 31-33, 22:10 what is your name? 22:12 "He said, 'Legion,' 22:14 because many demons had entered him.'" 22:18 Amazing, many demons. 22:21 "And they begged Him that he would not command them 22:23 to go out into the abyss. 22:26 Now a herd of many swine 22:27 was feeding there on the mountain. 22:29 So they begged Him 22:30 that He would permit them to go into the swine, 22:33 and He permitted them. 22:35 Then the demons went out of the man" hallelujah 22:39 "went into the swine, 22:40 the herd ran violently down the steep place 22:42 into the lake and all got drowned." 22:49 What is this telling you? 22:53 Believe, my friend, in the God who believes in you 22:57 and believe in the scriptures. 22:59 People go, "I don't, I can't believe." 23:01 Of course, you can believe it. 23:02 Oh, I can't believe in dark matter, 23:04 I can' believe in dark... Well, get with it. 23:07 Every scientist believes it. 23:09 We're talking about stuff that is more real 23:13 than your fingers and your nose. 23:16 Supernatural beings, 23:18 led by a great master general, 23:24 his name is Satan, Satan, 23:28 Beelzebub, the devil. 23:31 Verse 35. 23:33 Verse 35 says, "Then they went out to see 23:37 what had happened, and came to Jesus, 23:39 and found the man 23:41 from whom the demons had departed, 23:44 sitting at the feet of Jesus, 23:47 clothed and in his right mind. 23:49 They were afraid." 23:52 They're really just astounded, amazed. 23:58 What is God trying to get through 24:00 into my slow mind? 24:04 That we're in the midst of a cosmic battle 24:08 that started eons ago, 24:12 that there is evil in the world, 24:16 and is using millions of people and leaders. 24:20 Maybe you're caught up in it. 24:24 But the good news is this, 24:27 that Jesus on the cross beat the devil, 24:33 and He's Lord over all 24:35 and even if you have demon problems, 24:38 Jesus can save you. 24:40 If you take Jesus into your heart, 24:44 Jesus will save your soul. 24:47 Why don't you do it now, 24:48 say, Lord Jesus, come into my heart 24:51 I've been a sinner. I've been liar. 24:53 I've been dabbling in spiritism. 24:56 I've turned from God. 24:57 I've done all these wicked things. 25:00 Now, Jesus come into my heart." 25:03 And when the big God comes in, I tell you, 25:07 all the little gods run for cover. 25:12 Here it is. 25:14 One day soon, 25:16 Satan and his host of evil angels 25:18 will be destroyed forever. 25:20 They will be cast into the lake of fire 25:22 and brimstone, that's hell, 25:25 with all who follow them, all liars. 25:28 Satan is not in charge of hell, but he's going to hell, 25:31 he will be destroyed forever in hell. 25:35 He is not immortal. 25:37 And finally, hallelujah. 25:42 There will be a new heaven 25:44 and a new earth for new people, 25:48 and Christ and His people will reign forever 25:53 and ever and ever. 25:56 Amen. 25:58 Thanks be to God. 26:02 Listen, listen believe in the Christ who died for you, 26:08 read his word and say today, 26:13 "Lord Jesus, come into my heart." 26:17 Amen and amen. 26:24 There's only one thing that really counts 26:26 in this lifetime, your relationship to Christ. 26:31 And then if you have 26:32 a right relationship with Christ, 26:35 you want to tell people about Christ. 26:38 That's why Jesus said, "Go into all the world, 26:40 and preach the gospel to every creature." 26:44 By the grace of God, we're going to do that, 26:47 we are doing that. 26:49 That is why we're going back to Cuba, 26:51 to this communist land, to preach Christ. 26:56 We're accepting an invitation 26:57 to go to the vast, huge city of Manila, 27:03 the capital of the Philippines, been there before, 27:06 but by the grace of God, we're going back. 27:09 Please support us. 27:11 Please stand with us 27:14 in the preaching of the everlasting gospel. 27:16 You say, "How do you do it? 27:18 Who pays the bills?"
