00:02 I'm John Carter in Moscow.
00:04 In Havana, Cuba.
00:07 Now in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.
00:10 I'm John Carter in Petra.
00:13 Right here in Communist China.
00:16 Reporting from India.
00:18 Hi, I'm John Carter in the Solomon Islands.
00:21 I'm John Carter in Soweto.
00:23 From El Salvador.
00:26 I'm John Carter in Sydney, Australia.
00:29 Now from John Carter,
00:30 "The True Gospel and No Fake News."
00:36 Welcome back, my friends.
00:38 We're talking today about the true gospel,
00:41 and no fake news.
00:44 And today, we're talking
00:45 about some of the great truths of the gospel.
00:47 And I'm inviting you
00:49 to step outside of the comfortable box
00:52 and to think for yourselves.
00:54 I'm asking you to just be God's revolutionaries and say,
00:59 "I'm not going to be overawed by authority figures,
01:04 whether it's the priest, whether it's the pastor,
01:07 whether it's the politician,
01:09 but by the grace of God,
01:11 I'm going to be a child of God.
01:14 And I'm going to think for myself
01:18 outside the box."
01:20 Now the first great truth
01:22 we noticed in the first segment of the program is this,
01:25 that man was made in the very image of God,
01:29 man and woman,
01:30 they were made god like creatures.
01:34 They did not need a savior,
01:36 because they'd never sinned,
01:38 that's the first truth.
01:41 Our first parents did not need the gospel.
01:44 But now here we come, truth number two.
01:47 Here it is, number two.
01:49 When man sinned,
01:51 he became a lost soul,
01:54 his nature became sinful and depraved,
01:57 and he needed a savior.
02:01 Something happened deep inside man.
02:04 The image of God was marred.
02:06 Now, I've got some things here that I think are pretty neat.
02:11 I picked up these coins when I was in Russia.
02:14 I've been to Russia 49 times running big campaigns.
02:17 And on these coins,
02:19 some of them go back to 1843,
02:22 some go back to 1893 and pretty old.
02:26 But if you look really hard,
02:28 you can see the face of the tsar,
02:31 the king of Russia.
02:32 Have a look.
02:34 You can see.
02:35 And this one here,
02:36 you have the double headed eagle.
02:41 You know what that represents in Russia?
02:43 That's the union of church and state.
02:46 And some people in America
02:47 think church and state should be united.
02:49 Well, that's what the Russians did.
02:51 And that's why you had so many people
02:53 put to death in Russia.
02:55 But just as this coin is sort of marred,
02:57 you can still see the image of the tsar
03:01 that is defaced
03:02 and is marred.
03:04 And so in humanity today,
03:06 you can still see the image of God.
03:10 Sometimes you got to look real hard,
03:13 but the image of God remains in man.
03:16 But the Bible tells us that because of sin,
03:20 the image of God is indistinct
03:24 and marred.
03:26 And when Adam sinned,
03:27 we became a race of sinners.
03:30 And that's why naturally we're all empty inside.
03:34 That's why the great Roman Catholic theologian,
03:36 Saint Agustin said,
03:38 "Our souls made for God,
03:41 and they cannot rest until they rest in Him."
03:43 There's something that is empty inside
03:46 and we are born this way.
03:49 Wants you to come over here to Romans 5:12-14.
03:53 This is a text that most people don't read,
03:56 and if they do read it,
03:57 they don't understand it
03:59 and if they do understand what they say,
04:01 "I'm not going to believe it."
04:02 Romans 5:12.
04:06 We need to let the Word of God speak.
04:09 "Therefore," Paul says,
04:12 "just as through one man," Adam,
04:15 "sin entered the world,
04:18 and death through sin,
04:20 and thus death spread to all men,
04:22 because all sinned."
04:25 The Bible tells me this,
04:27 that when Adam sinned,
04:29 listen to this,
04:30 we sinned in Adam.
04:34 The Bible tells us
04:35 that Adam represented the human race.
04:38 If you look at verse 14, it says,
04:41 verse 14,
04:42 "Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses,
04:47 even over those who had not sinned
04:50 according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam,"
04:53 what is that saying?
04:56 "Who is a type of Him who wants to come."
04:58 The Bible says,
04:59 "The death came into the world like a tremendous flood,
05:04 and the world was deluged in sin."
05:07 And the Bible says, now listen to this,
05:10 just got to think outside the box,
05:12 just got to think.
05:15 The Bible says,
05:17 "Adam to Moses,
05:19 death reigned over those people
05:21 who had not sinned in the same way
05:23 that Adam sinned."
05:25 How did Adam sin?
05:28 It is a willful trends, transgression.
05:31 But the Bible says,
05:33 "Death reigned over people
05:35 who had not sinned as Adam sinned."
05:38 For instance,
05:40 little babies died.
05:42 Why did the little babies die,
05:44 have you thought this through?
05:47 It is because the human race, my friends,
05:52 because we were in Adam,
05:56 we were lost in Adam.
05:59 It's like Adam was driving the motorcar
06:02 and we were sitting in the backseat.
06:06 And when that motorcar went off the freeway,
06:09 we went off the freeway,
06:11 because we were in the backseat.
06:14 You say, "I was not in the backseat.
06:16 I wasn't there."
06:18 Oh!
06:20 Tell me where were you?
06:23 We were in Adam.
06:25 The whole of the human race was in Adam.
06:30 And the Bible tells me
06:33 that we were lost in Adam.
06:36 Romans 5:19,
06:39 would you look at this, please?
06:42 People say, "Look, I can't believe this."
06:44 Oh, my friend,
06:46 you got to think outside the box,
06:47 and you got to think honestly.
06:49 Look at verse 19,
06:51 "For as by one man's disobedience, "
06:53 who's this? Adam.
06:55 "As by one man's disobedience," what does it say?
06:58 "Many were made sinners."
06:59 No, no, no.
07:01 Somebody says,
07:02 "We are not made sinners because of Adam."
07:04 Hey, hey, hey.
07:06 Are you gonna believe the Bible
07:08 or you gonna believe your own reasoning?
07:11 The Bible says, "By one man's disobedience,
07:14 many were made sinners.
07:15 So also by one man's obedience,
07:17 many will be made righteous."
07:20 When Adam sinned,
07:22 the world was deluged into darkness
07:25 and into death.
07:27 That's why David said,
07:29 "I was born in sin.
07:31 And in sin did my mother conceive me."
07:33 He's not talking about being born
07:35 out of wedlock.
07:37 He's saying, I am born in a state of corruption.
07:40 And because I am born in a state of corruption,
07:44 I do not need a swimming lesson.
07:48 I need a savior.
07:50 I need somebody
07:52 who's going to come down and save me.
07:54 I want you to come over now to Romans Chapter 3.
07:56 I urge you to read the Book of Romans.
07:59 You say, "It's difficult."
08:00 Well, that's another reason to read it.
08:02 Romans 3:23.
08:05 The Bible says,
08:06 "For all have sinned," that's the past tense,
08:10 past tense, "and fall short of the glory of God."
08:14 Can you hear what I'm saying today?
08:16 The Bible says, "All have sinned."
08:19 That is the past tense.
08:21 And the Bible says,
08:22 "I am falling short of the glory of God."
08:27 So I try to jump my way to heaven,
08:30 I try to get across this abyss,
08:33 but the Bible says,
08:35 I fall short of the glory of God.
08:38 That's why I don't need a swimming lesson.
08:43 I don't need so much a teacher.
08:46 I don't need so much an example.
08:51 I need a savior.
08:54 It's so important to let the Word of God speak
08:57 and to put aside our preconceived ideas.
09:01 When I was in Australia,
09:02 I was the pastor of a beautiful church
09:04 in New South Wales,
09:07 outside the town of Albury,
09:08 there was a wonderful family,
09:10 Mr. and Mrs. Miller.
09:12 And he said to me, when I went out there
09:14 to study the Word of God with him.
09:16 He said, "Pastor Carter, I am a bigoted Lutheran.
09:20 I thought, I wonder, "What sort of Lutheran that is"
09:23 He said, "I am quite bigoted."
09:26 Now, I'd heard
09:27 of different types of Lutherans.
09:28 But he said, "I'm a bigoted one."
09:33 You know what he was saying? He's an old German.
09:35 I'm bigoted.
09:37 He said, "I'm a bigoted Lutheran."
09:41 Well, I said, "My friend, join the club."
09:44 I can take you to places
09:45 where there are bigoted Catholics,
09:49 and bigoted Methodists,
09:52 and bigoted Adventists.
09:55 And in America,
09:57 I would say bigoted Republicans and bigoted Democrats
10:02 and some bigoted independents.
10:07 We've got to ask God to help us here.
10:11 Many of us are bigoted and pride keeps us so.
10:14 That is why we need the Spirit of God
10:16 for Revelation.
10:17 I've seen people sit in the pews of churches
10:21 and steal themselves when they hear the subject.
10:24 No! No!
10:26 No! No!
10:29 What is it? No!
10:30 What does the text say? No!
10:33 These are people who have been going to church for 50 years.
10:37 Bigoted.
10:40 Look at John 3:3.
10:42 This tells you what we need.
10:44 "Jesus answered and said to him,
10:46 'Most assuredly, I say to you,
10:48 unless one is born again,
10:50 he cannot see the kingdom of God.'"
10:51 Before you can start to understand
10:55 the scriptures and the Word of God,
10:57 you've got to have the help of the Holy Spirit.
11:01 So when you read the Word of God,
11:03 you can't understand it.
11:05 It's commonly good, you can't understand it.
11:08 You need grace.
11:10 And here's a quote
11:12 from one of the most prolific Christian writers
11:13 of our modern times.
11:16 Ellen White said this and listen to this.
11:18 I find that most folks take what they want,
11:21 leave what they want.
11:23 But let's listen to this please.
11:25 She said this,
11:26 "The religious services,
11:29 the prayers,
11:31 the praise,
11:34 the penitent confessions," or the penitent,
11:37 I'm really sorry,
11:39 "the penitent confession of sin
11:41 ascend from true believers,"
11:43 the saints,
11:45 "as incense to the heavenly sanctuary,"
11:47 hey, this is gonna be pretty good,
11:51 "but passing through the corrupt channels
11:54 of humanity,
11:56 they are so defiled,"
11:59 hey, people tell me,
12:02 the saints are perfect,"
12:05 they are so defiled that unless purified by blood,
12:08 they can never be a value with God."
12:12 The prayers of the saints,
12:15 their penitent confession,
12:16 even their confessions.
12:20 "They ascend not in spotless purity,
12:22 and unless the intercessor,
12:23 who is at God's right hand,
12:25 presents and purifies all by His righteousness,
12:30 it is not acceptable to God."
12:32 You say, "No, this is okay about the pagans.
12:35 This is okay about the bad people."
12:37 This is talking
12:39 about the really good people.
12:45 You know, what the worst sin is?
12:47 Self-righteousness.
12:49 And most of us who go to church have got enough to hear.
12:57 So the Bible tells us,
13:00 "I need a savior."
13:01 I don't need good advice, I need good news.
13:06 Next great truth is this.
13:08 This is almost kind of asked you to believe this.
13:13 The Creator God became a man to save us.
13:18 True Christianity is different to every other religion.
13:22 In the Muslim religion,
13:23 Allah is remote and distant.
13:28 But in the Bible, God becomes a man.
13:32 Who would have thought of this?
13:35 He doesn't just stand on the riverbank
13:37 and throws a rope,
13:38 He gets into the river.
13:40 Imagine the President of the United States.
13:45 Okay, visualize it.
13:47 He goes over to Africa, the Congo.
13:50 He finds a poor village,
13:52 where they got Ebola.
13:54 He lives with the people
13:55 and finally is infected with the Ebola virus
13:59 and he dies.
14:00 You say, impossible.
14:02 Well, that's what God did.
14:04 That's what God did.
14:05 Say, "No, no, no!" Yes.
14:09 Or maybe Mr. Putin, the world's wealthiest person,
14:13 wonder where he got his money from.
14:15 He leaves the gilded halls of the Kremlin,
14:19 where I've been.
14:20 He goes to a village in Northern Siberia.
14:23 I know Siberia, like the back of my hand.
14:27 He finds a cold hungry dark village
14:30 contaminated with nuclear waste.
14:32 I've been to those places.
14:34 He lives with the poorest of the poor.
14:37 He finally become sick with radiation poisoning
14:40 and he dies.
14:41 That's what Jesus did.
14:43 You know what it's called?
14:45 It's called grace.
14:48 John 1:1 says this, look at the text.
14:52 John Chapter 1,
14:54 "In the beginning was the Word
14:55 and the Word was with God,
14:57 and the Word was God."
14:59 This is the logos.
15:01 Verse 14 and verse 16, verse 14 and verse 16.
15:06 "And the Word," the logos,
15:08 "became flesh and dwelt among us,
15:11 and we beheld His glory,
15:13 the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,
15:16 full of grace and truth,
15:18 and of His fullness we have all received,
15:21 and grace for grace."
15:26 It's almost impossible to believe it.
15:30 God becomes a man.
15:32 Who would believe this?
15:39 I've been in places
15:41 where the power was 11,000 volts.
15:45 You know what you got to do?
15:46 You got to get a good transformer,
15:48 a step down transformer.
15:50 So you can take the 11,000 volts
15:52 and bring it down to 110, 120,
15:55 so you can use it.
15:58 When God came to this earth,
16:00 He had so much energy and so much power.
16:04 He said, "This will kill them all."
16:07 So Jesus became the step down transformer.
16:10 And He came in a form
16:13 that we could tolerate, and that we could accept.
16:17 You know what it's called?
16:19 It's called love.
16:21 It's called grace.
16:23 There are two great truths that you and I need to learn,
16:25 but probably some of us will never learn it,
16:29 because we've got religion but we haven't got God.
16:33 Number one,
16:34 man is far worse
16:37 than he ever feared to think.
16:42 Number two,
16:44 God is far better
16:46 than He ever dared to hope.
16:50 And the second is the gospel.
16:55 Look at Hebrews 2:17 and 7:26.
16:58 Hebrews 2:17 for a start,
17:01 "Therefore, in all things
17:02 He had to be made like His brethren,
17:04 that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest
17:07 in things pertaining to God to make propitiation,"
17:10 atoning sacrifice, "for the sins of the people."
17:14 And so He becomes not a make believe man,
17:18 but He becomes a man of flesh and blood.
17:22 He is born in the ordinary way.
17:28 He's born with crying,
17:30 and probably with some blood.
17:34 And who is this baby?
17:35 He is the logos.
17:37 He is Yahweh, Elohim, El Shaddai.
17:43 So you see, you need a Revelation to see this.
17:45 If we saw this,
17:47 we would realize that God is far bigger
17:49 than we are and far better than we deserve.
17:56 And you can show, you can tell
17:57 whether a person has accepted this or not
18:00 by how he treats people.
18:02 If he's harsh, and he's hard, and he's legalistic,
18:06 and if in the words of Shakespeare,
18:09 he demands his pound of flesh,
18:12 then he is a lost soul,
18:14 even though he sits up the front of church,
18:16 every Sabbath, every Lord's Day.
18:20 That's the truth.
18:21 Now look at the next verse, Hebrews 7:26,
18:24 "For such a High Priest was fitting for us,
18:28 who was holy, harmless, undefiled,"
18:30 and look at these words, most people don't read this,
18:33 most people don't read their Bibles.
18:35 They say, "It's too hard."
18:37 "Separate from sinners,
18:39 and has become higher than the heavens."
18:42 He was made like us in every way,
18:46 with one vital distinction.
18:51 No sin,
18:54 had no evil in Him,
18:57 no propensities to evil.
19:01 Theologians use the word propensities.
19:04 My son said to me,
19:05 don't use it because people don't understand it.
19:07 It simply means tendencies to evil.
19:12 People say, "Well,
19:15 who's got tendencies to evil?
19:17 You have.
19:19 I have.
19:20 People are like, "No, I haven't."
19:21 Well,
19:23 you are deluded and deceived.
19:27 And if you think
19:28 that you've got no tendencies to sin,
19:31 and that you're not sinless,
19:33 let me talk to your family members.
19:38 Let me talk to them.
19:40 I've met a man once,
19:42 I was in Minneapolis to take some meetings,
19:44 and he stood outside and he said,
19:46 "I want everyone to know I'm sinless."
19:50 I said, "Can I meet your wife?"
19:54 I mean...
19:58 this is a sick delusion.
20:03 One great author said, the closer we come to Christ,
20:06 the more sinful we'll appear in our own eyes,
20:10 you know.
20:13 Only people who are self-righteous
20:14 are the people
20:16 who know nothing of God's righteousness.
20:18 And He came on a mission,
20:20 this God-man, this logos,
20:23 this Yahweh Elohim.
20:25 He came on a mission.
20:27 And He came on a mission,
20:29 which was an amazing mission.
20:33 And this is where I guess,
20:36 Robert Carter,
20:38 the descendant of John Carter got it from.
20:42 Luke 4:16-19.
20:47 Luke 4:16-19,
20:53 dear hearts and gentle people,
20:55 and I don't apologize for using a lot of texts.
20:59 If you want to avoid the mark of the beast,
21:02 and start to think outside the box
21:04 and read your Bible,
21:05 don't be brainwashed.
21:07 Verse 16 and onwards,
21:09 "So He came to Nazareth,
21:10 where He had been brought up.
21:12 As His custom was,
21:14 He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day
21:16 and stood up to read."
21:17 Had a good custom, He went to church.
21:20 "He was handed the book of the Prophet Isaiah.
21:23 When He had opened the book,
21:24 He found the place where it is written:
21:27 'The Spirit of the Lord, God is upon Me,
21:29 because He has anointed Me
21:30 to preach the gospel to the poor.
21:33 He sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
21:37 to proclaim liberty to the captives,
21:39 and recovery of sight to the blind,
21:42 to set at liberty,
21:44 those who are oppressed,
21:46 to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,'
21:50 and He closed the book.'"
21:53 Now He tells us why He came.
21:57 Just look at it,
22:00 to preach good news to the poor.
22:03 Well, I'm poor, poor in spirit.
22:07 I need good news.
22:08 "To heal the brokenhearted,
22:12 to preach deliverance to the captives."
22:15 Every person outside of Christ is a slave.
22:20 "Recovery of sight to the blind,"
22:23 without God, we are blind.
22:28 "To set at liberty those who are oppressed
22:31 to preach the acceptable year of the Lord."
22:37 So I say to you,
22:38 listen, if you feel poor in your soul,
22:42 Christ is for you.
22:44 If you are brokenhearted, Christ is for you.
22:48 If you are a captive to sin, drugs,
22:50 Christ is for you.
22:52 If you are blind spiritually and physically,
22:55 if you are oppressed, then Christ is for you,
22:58 that's why He came.
23:01 You say, "Well,
23:02 we had a lot to do with it."
23:04 No, we had nothing to do with this.
23:06 He did this before we were born.
23:09 And He made all this possible by His death for our sins
23:12 on the cross.
23:13 John 3:14-17 says,
23:17 "Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness,
23:21 so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
23:23 that everyone who believes in Him
23:25 may have eternal life.
23:27 For God so loved the world
23:28 that He gave His one and only Son,
23:31 that whoever believes in Him shall not perish,
23:35 but have eternal life.
23:37 For God did not send His Son into the world
23:39 to condemn the world,
23:41 but to save the world through Him."
23:45 It says, shall not perish.
23:50 It's not hard to believe you know,
23:53 a little child can believe,
23:57 an old man can believe,
23:59 a rich person can believe,
24:02 a poor person can believe,
24:04 a living person can believe,
24:06 a dying person can believe,
24:10 not a dead person,
24:11 but a dying person.
24:13 I had the privilege of going some years ago,
24:16 I just came back from Manila some years ago.
24:19 Went on death row in Manila,
24:22 and baptized young man
24:24 who had been sentenced to death.
24:26 I didn't tell them,
24:28 they needed us a swimming lesson.
24:33 I told them, they needed a savior
24:37 and I baptized them.
24:42 The blacks,
24:44 many years ago,
24:46 wrote the words of this hymn.
24:49 It became famous, famous,
24:54 particularly with Martin Luther King.
24:57 This was written by John Wesley Work,
25:00 many of those poor slaves took the name of John Wesley.
25:05 "Free at last, free at last,
25:07 I thank God, I'm free at last.
25:10 Free at last, free at last,
25:12 I thank God I'm free at last.
25:15 Way down yonder in the graveyard walk,
25:18 I thank God I'm free at last.
25:21 Me and my Jesus going to meet and talk,
25:24 I thank God I'm free at last.
25:28 On my knees when the light passed by,
25:31 I thank God I'm free at last.
25:33 Tho't my soul would rise and fly,
25:36 I thank God I'm free at last.
25:40 Some of these mornings, bright and fair,
25:44 I thank God I'm free at last.
25:47 Goin' to meet King Jesus in the air,
25:53 I thank God,
25:56 I'm free at last."
25:58 That is the message of the gospel.
26:00 Next time, I'm going to talk to you
26:03 about the true gospel,
26:05 the Jesuits
26:07 and the grace of God.
26:08 I say to you today,
26:10 "I thank God,
26:12 I'm free at last."
26:15 Amen and amen.
26:23 Time,
26:24 it takes only a minute to have eternal life.
26:27 How can you get saved in a minute?
26:29 It's simple.
26:30 First, believe that Jesus was the Son of God.
26:32 Second, accept His free gift of eternal life
26:36 and then you're saved.
26:37 It's not hard. It doesn't take any time.
26:40 You can be saved in a minute right now.
26:43 Pray with me, "Lord God, I realize that I am a sinner.
26:48 My sin has separated me from You.
26:50 I accept that Your Son Jesus Christ died for me.
26:53 I ask Jesus into my heart."
26:55 If you prayed this prayer, you are saved.
26:58 The next thing to do is, tell someone.
27:01 Fellowship with other followers of Jesus,
27:03 get baptized,
27:05 read your Bible, and pray.
27:07 Choices,

27:10 The most important choice you'll make in your life

27:15 or let it pass you by.
