00:02 I'm John Carter in Moscow.
00:04 In Havana, Cuba. 00:07 Now in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. 00:10 I'm John Carter in Petra. 00:13 Right here in Communist China. 00:16 Reporting from India. 00:18 Hi, I'm John Carter in the Solomon Islands. 00:21 I'm John Carter in Soweto. 00:24 From El Salvador. 00:26 I'm John Carter in Sydney, Australia. 00:29 John Carter tells us how to survive the end times. 00:37 Glad to welcome you here today, our worldwide audience. 00:42 Wonderful audience watching on television. 00:44 We're glad that you joined us today. 00:47 The topic today is a red hot topic, 00:50 "How to Survive the End Times." 00:55 Most likely the greatest scientist 00:58 that has ever lived on this planet 01:01 was Sir Isaac Newton. 01:05 There are many scientists say today 01:07 that you can't be an intellectual giant 01:10 and believe in God. 01:13 Sir Isaac Newton said, 01:15 "You could not do science unless you believed in God 01:20 because if there is no God, 01:23 there is no basis for the laws of the universe." 01:26 I've got here today, an amazing book. 01:30 It's not a book on science, 01:32 but it's written by the greatest scientists 01:34 the world has ever seen. 01:36 Yes, Sir Isaac Newton, 01:39 and it's on the prophecies of Daniel and the Revelation. 01:44 Can you believe it? 01:46 Now, this is not the original one, but this is a copy. 01:49 It's written in the Old English. 01:51 And the original copy was found in the library 01:56 of Thomas Jefferson 01:59 because virtually all scientists 02:03 once upon a time said 02:04 that there was no valid basis 02:09 for doing science 02:10 unless you had a great norm, 02:13 unless you had a great law in the universe. 02:17 How could you do science 02:19 if everything happened by chance? 02:21 This man, the greatest scientist 02:23 in the history of the world, 02:25 wrote about the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation. 02:29 Pretty much what I teach in these meetings. 02:31 Today, we're talking about how to survive the end times. 02:35 And I'm going to start with two texts, 02:37 Matthew 24:14-15 02:40 and take a copy of the Bible, 02:43 Matthew 24:14-15, 02:49 dear heart and gentle people, 02:54 you got it? 02:55 Hey, have you got it? 02:57 Hey, I just gonna make sure 02:58 you folks haven't fallen off your seats and gone asleep. 03:02 "And this gospel of the kingdom 03:03 will be preached in all the world 03:05 as a witness to all the nations, 03:07 then the end will come." 03:08 The Bible talks about a beginning, 03:10 it talks about the end. 03:11 And a good verse 15, 03:13 "Therefore, when you see the abomination of desolation 03:17 spoken out by Daniel a prophet, 03:18 standing in the holy place, 03:20 whoever reads, let him understand. 03:22 Now, 03:24 Jesus spoke about the abomination of desolation. 03:30 He said he was spoken of by Daniel the prophet. 03:34 The term the abomination of desolation 03:36 is a biblical expression from the lips of Daniel 03:41 that refers to the Antichrist. 03:46 This prophecy has a double application. 03:50 It was fulfilled in 70 AD, 03:54 when the Romans came against 03:55 the Jewish Temple 70 AD. 04:00 Then it was fulfilled 04:02 but will be filled full in the last days 04:06 with the coming of the great Antichrist 04:11 who comes against the church. 04:14 Now look at Matthew 24:21-22 in this context, 04:20 and remember, a text without a context is a pretext, 04:25 you get that? 04:26 Matthew 24:21-22. 04:31 Want to read this to you? 04:34 Verse 21, 22, 04:36 "For then there will be great tribulation." 04:40 This is famous topic, the Great Tribulation, 04:45 "Such as has not been 04:46 since the beginning of the world until this time, 04:51 nor ever shall be 04:55 and unless those days were shortened, 04:58 no flesh would be saved, but for the," what does it say? 05:03 "The elects sake as God's people, 05:07 those days will be shortened." 05:13 Now, 05:16 not everybody will agree with me on this text. 05:21 That's okay. 05:23 We can love people even when they disagree with us. 05:28 But listen to this. 05:30 The Bible says in the context of the Antichrist 05:34 who comes against the people of God, 05:36 the Bible says there's going to be a tremendous tribulation. 05:41 Most of my friends say 05:44 that God's people have been raptured home to glory, 05:49 and therefore the saints are spared 05:52 the Great Tribulation. 05:54 Please bear with me, be tolerant with me. 05:58 I didn't believe that. 06:00 I don't believe it 06:02 because I believe 06:05 it is a theological fiction. 06:09 Because the Bible says, during this time 06:13 when the great Antichrist does his work, 06:17 when the abomination of desolation 06:19 stands in the holy place, and there's a tribulation, 06:23 such as has never been, it says, 06:26 If God did not shorten those days, 06:30 nobody would survive, but for the sake of the elect, 06:34 He's going to shorten those days. 06:37 Now the elect to God's people, 06:40 why would you need to shorten those days 06:42 for the sake of the elect 06:44 if the elect had already been raptured home to glory? 06:48 It doesn't make sense. 06:51 I don't want you to believe that 06:52 because I'm teaching it today, 06:54 I want you to believe it because it's the truth 06:57 and because it's taught in the Bible, 07:00 the elect too are the elect. 07:02 Those people who have been elected by Almighty God 07:07 for salvation. 07:12 You know, what's the definition of God's election is, 07:14 don't you? 07:17 The elects are the product of God's election. 07:21 Somebody said, when God has an election, 07:25 you can always be certain of two votes 07:30 in God's election. 07:34 God will always vote for you, 07:35 number one, 07:38 the devil will always vote for you number two, 07:43 and you've got the casting vote. 07:47 So the elector made up of those people 07:50 who choose God, 07:53 the Lord Jesus Christ, and it says, 07:55 "For the sake of the elect, 07:57 those days are going to be shortened." 08:00 Therefore I'm here to tell you today, 08:02 the elect are not home in glory during the Great Tribulation, 08:06 the elect are upon this earth. 08:09 Who says so? 08:10 Jesus. 08:13 Now in our study today, and that's what it is, 08:16 it is a study of Scripture. 08:19 In our study, 08:21 we're going to divide this presentation 08:23 up into three parts. 08:25 Number one, 08:27 the End Times Described. 08:33 Number two, the End Times Prophesied. 08:39 And number three, 08:40 the End Times Survived 08:45 by the Elect. 08:47 I was watching a tremendous program on, 08:49 I think it is PBS, 08:52 the men who made built America. 08:56 And it told the story, 08:58 I mean it's just a fantastic series. 09:01 The Johnstown flood. 09:06 I'd heard about it but not in this detail. 09:10 The wealthy people lived up on top of the hill 09:14 behind the dam 09:17 and the poor working classes were down in the valley. 09:24 And the people on the top actually weakened the dam 09:28 for their personal enjoyment. 09:33 Then there came tremendous rain, 09:37 May 31, 1889. 09:40 The message went out, Morse code, 09:43 the dam is becoming dangerous 09:46 and may possibly go, 09:50 get the people out. 09:53 But the man who received the message, 09:55 tap, tap, tap, tap, tap 09:58 said we've heard that pretty story before. 10:03 We've heard it over and over and over again 10:05 that the dam is going to go. 10:10 So nobody was told, and thousands of men, women, 10:14 children, and little babies 10:20 were inundated. 10:23 And so you may have heard over and over again 10:26 that the end is coming 10:28 and the great Antichrist is going to come, 10:31 and there's going to be this great time of tribulation 10:34 and you're going to say like, many of, some of my friends, 10:39 you'll say, oh, I've heard it all before. 10:44 But remember the words of Christ 10:47 and the flood came and took them all away. 10:52 It's going to happen 10:54 and you may live to see the day. 10:59 Okay, let's get back to how we broke up 11:02 this presentation into three parts. 11:05 The End Times Described. 11:09 I'm going to give you stories from the persecuted church. 11:15 Stories that illustrate the Great Tribulation 11:18 when the Antichrist comes. 11:21 And these are not stories I got out of the book. 11:27 These are people I personally knew. 11:31 Like Paul the prisoner. 11:34 Somebody said to me, why isn't he smiling? 11:37 Why isn't he laughing? 11:39 Because he's got no teeth. 11:41 They were kicked out by the communist guards. 11:44 He was a Christian in Moscow. 11:48 One of my best friends now, 11:49 betrayed by a pastor. 11:54 Placed in a refrigerator, 11:56 refrigerator cell for three years. 12:01 Freeze him, then take him up and warm him up, 12:05 put him back in. 12:07 His teeth lost by brutality. 12:11 All you gotta do, he said is tell us 12:14 who helped you with the printing press, 12:16 he said nyet, nyet. 12:22 These people I met over there who'd gone through hell 12:27 with the finest people I'd ever met. 12:33 Then there was a young Russian Desmond Doss. 12:37 I hope you've seen the movie Hacksaw Ridge. 12:43 I'm proud to have as my friends Gabe and Judy Videla. 12:47 Judy's here today. 12:49 Gabe was one of the producers 12:51 on Hacksaw Ridge. 12:56 Let me tell you about a young Russian Desmond Doss. 13:02 His name is Mikhail. 13:05 He was a non combatant. 13:08 Oh, you say crazy? No, no. 13:09 A man with some conviction. 13:13 Oh, no, no, no a man with conviction, 13:18 a non-conformist. 13:20 He told me that in the dead of winter in Siberia, 13:24 he was sent out in just a light uniform 13:29 of the Russian army 13:33 to load logs all night long, 13:36 because he was also a believer in the Sabbath. 13:42 You say, I don't believe that, but that's fine, 13:44 but he believed it, you see. 13:48 Now, Mikhail was not raptured home to glory, 13:52 but he was preserved in the midst of trouble. 13:55 He was one of God's elect. 13:58 God has so much faith in His people 14:02 that He allows them to endure Great Tribulation. 14:08 He said it was a privilege. 14:12 When I went to Russia 30 years ago, 14:14 I met Olga and Igor, 14:19 Christians who were persecuted so much 14:21 as all the Christians were by the atheists. 14:26 In America, people say, well, look, you know, 14:28 we've discovered that atheism is such a great thing. 14:32 It's so full of freedom. 14:33 And it's so sunny and it's so upbeat. 14:38 Listen to me. 14:41 Get informed. 14:43 When the atheists were in charge of the USSR, 14:46 the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic. 14:49 When they were in charge of Russia, and Ukraine 14:53 during the 70 years of the reign of atheism, 14:58 they murdered 70 million people. 15:01 You say no, no! 15:05 Hey, just get informed. 15:08 I've been there 49 times, 15:11 I've spoken to the survivors. 15:15 This young couple 15:16 when they wanted to get baptized 15:18 could not be baptized in the daylight hours. 15:20 They had to be baptized in the night at midnight. 15:24 They went down to the river 15:26 with their pastor and their friends, 15:29 and they took a saw 15:31 and they sawed a hole in the ice. 15:37 These are heroes. 15:38 Not wimps, not cowards, not flakes, 15:43 never went to church today. 15:44 Why not? Oh, I slept in the room. 15:47 Come on. 15:49 Come on. 15:50 What's wrong? 15:52 People who talk like that are not the elect of God 15:55 because the elect of God 15:58 have got intestinal fortitude. 16:01 Courageous in God, courageous in Christ. 16:07 After they were baptized, 16:08 their baptismal gowns froze solid on them. 16:10 So they had to take knives 16:13 and cut the baptismal robes off them. 16:17 That was standard operating procedure. 16:22 Some of us by the grace of God, 16:24 we ever get to heaven are going to be embarrassed 16:29 when we meet the elect. 16:31 Petelli's mother, Petelli worked for me for 20 years. 16:35 Mrs. Bactrum, only believer in her village 16:40 in the north of Russia, one of God's elect, 16:44 the people in the village were communists or Russian Orthodox. 16:49 She was persecuted, 16:50 especially when her only cow 16:54 got struck by lightning. 16:58 Well, where was God? 17:00 God was there. 17:03 But God doesn't always take away the lighting. 17:05 So they said, even if there is a God, 17:08 He doesn't care about you. 17:11 She received news about the death of her son 17:15 who died in Afghanistan. 17:19 Does this ring any bells here in America? 17:23 They've been fighting in Afghanistan 17:25 since Alexander the Great and nobody's won. 17:30 The father, an old communist was cursing. 17:33 When they received the news, he said, "I hate I hate," 17:37 full of hate. 17:39 The mother was praising God. 17:41 You know how she got to church. 17:44 She would leave home on Friday afternoon 17:48 and start walking 17:50 and in the winter, wading through the snow. 17:54 You're gonna be embarrassed, 17:55 I may be embarrassed too when we meet her in glory. 17:59 She may say, "What did you do for Jesus?" 18:04 A different breed. 18:07 Saints of God. 18:09 People say no, no all the saints of God. 18:12 God's not gonna let them go through the Great Tribulation 18:17 maybe 'cause they think they're weak like us. 18:21 But the saints of God are made tough to endure peril, 18:27 and insult, and persecution. 18:29 So she'd walk all night wading through the snow on occasions. 18:35 Then on Saturday morning, she'd get out on the road 18:39 and hitchhike hundred miles. 18:43 She get to the little church at 9 o'clock. 18:46 There would be in worship until 6 o'clock that evening. 18:50 Why? Because it wasn't boring. 18:55 It wasn't boring. 18:56 Oh, and they loved God and they loved each other 19:01 and then on Saturday night, walking home through the snow, 19:06 through the cold, getting home on Sunday morning. 19:09 Why? 19:14 Back in the village she was cursed, 19:16 derided, mocked, 19:17 she was one of God's elect. 19:19 Don't forget it. 19:20 During the 70 years of atheism, 19:23 upwards of 70 million were starved, 19:25 beaten to death in the gulags, the concentration camps. 19:30 I've been to some of them I've been there. 19:33 No, you haven't. Yes, I have. 19:37 But this time of travel was a prelude 19:39 to a greater worldwide time of trouble. 19:45 And we who had it so easy in this land of prosperity 19:51 are going to have 19:54 an awakening 19:57 and we're going to discover 19:59 what Christianity really is. 20:03 But for the sake of the elect, Jesus said, 20:06 "Those days will be shortened for the sake of the elect." 20:11 If the elect were, please stop, think it through. 20:17 What are you going to do with this text? 20:18 You just gotta say, "Well, my pastor." 20:20 I don't care what your pastor says. 20:23 He probably doesn't care what I say either. 20:26 Jesus said, "But for the sake of the elect, 20:29 those days are going to be shortened. 20:31 Why would God shorten the Great Tribulation 20:35 if the elect were home in glory? 20:40 It's really absurd, doesn't it? 20:43 But God has got confidence in His people, 20:46 and He knows they're made of the right stuff. 20:51 And for their sake, He will shorten those days. 20:55 Now a word of certainty and hope. 20:59 There's a great message and its Daniel 12:1. 21:03 Turn in your Bible, Daniel Chapter 12. 21:07 Have you got it? 21:09 Look at it in the Holy Scriptures, Daniel 12:1, 21:14 "At that time, 21:17 Michael shall stand up. 21:20 The great prince who stands 21:22 watch over the sons of your people, 21:26 and they shall be a time of trouble, 21:29 such as never was since there was a nation. 21:33 Jesus quoted this, even to that time 21:36 and at that time 21:38 your people shall be delivered, 21:43 everyone who is found written in the book. 21:51 God doesn't deliver His people 21:53 by taking them away from trouble. 21:59 It's a very popular religion. 22:03 God delivers His people in the midst of trouble, 22:08 because God is God and the elect are the elect. 22:16 And as the Anglican say here in this the first lesson. 22:21 Now we come to the end times prophesied. 22:27 Many believe we have reached the borders of the end times. 22:32 I believe in the apocalypse. 22:38 Now, Scientists are saying 22:40 that we've reached the end times 22:42 because of climate change 22:46 and global warming. 22:49 The Amazon on fire, the Amazon Valley on fire. 22:53 If one had taught this 50 years ago, 22:55 the audience would have laughed. 22:58 Don't believe this. 23:00 I've been asked to recommend and preview a book 23:03 by the world famous scientist, Dr. Hugh Ross, 23:08 on the great, great catastrophe 23:13 facing the human race. 23:18 Now, first and foremost, 23:19 my authority is the Word of God. 23:22 But I believe in legitimate science. 23:27 And when I see the Amazon burning, 23:30 I'm not going to say, things are the same. 23:35 Secular scientists who don't believe in God say 23:39 that we are facing the end of the world 23:44 and preachers today have gone soft on it. 23:48 Amazing, isn't it? 23:52 Sociologists and politicians another group. 23:57 They talk about the rise of totalitarianism, 24:00 the collapse of civilization, 24:02 they say, right around the world. 24:07 Twenty years ago, we were talking about a new era, 24:12 an era which would usher 24:14 in peace and prosperity. 24:19 But everywhere we look today, 24:21 there are dictators popping up. 24:26 The rule of totalitarianism 24:30 in the most unlikely places. 24:34 That's what sociologists say, 24:36 and theologians who sometimes get it right, 24:39 talk about the signs of the Second Coming. 24:43 So we have scientists, sociologists, politicians 24:46 and theologians, 24:47 all uniting with one voice and they are saying, 24:51 we are living in the era of the apocalypse. 24:55 And remember Johnstown, 24:58 we've heard it all before. 25:01 We've heard it all before. 25:04 And Jesus said the flood came 25:07 and took them all away. 25:13 Even TV programs I watch on occasions 25:16 on the end of the world, 25:17 I don't watch them too much 25:19 because they're so pessimistic because they got it wrong. 25:22 The History Channel, National Geographic. 25:28 We're talking today about the end times, 25:32 we're talking about the Great Tribulation. 25:34 We're talking about the abomination of desolation. 25:37 We're talking about the church 25:41 going through the Great Tribulation. 25:45 And we've got lots more to share with you. 25:48 So stay with us. 25:50 We'll be back in just a moment after this break. 26:15 Hello, friend. 26:16 I'm John Carter. 26:18 Behind me is the great city of Manila, 26:22 the capital of the Philippines. 26:24 Did you know, this is quite amazing. 26:26 There are more people living in this area 26:28 than in New York City. 26:30 And Christ died for these people. 26:33 We came here, oh, long time ago back in 1984. 26:39 What's that, 34, 35 years ago, 26:42 and we came here with a team of young people 26:44 and we came to the PICC. 26:47 It is our intent to come here, 26:50 hire the biggest hall that's available, 26:52 the greatest outdoor stadium, whatever it takes. 26:56 You've got more than 20 million souls out here. 27:01 And I say it again. 27:02 These are people for whom Christ died. 27:05 I'm asking you to pray 27:06 for the people of the Philippines. 27:09 Please pray for the people here in Metro Manila. 27:13 And please write to me, John Carter, P.O.
