00:01 John Carter was scheduled
00:02 to teach this program in Manila, 00:04 but now at his studio in Los Angeles. 00:07 During the COVID-19 restrictions, 00:09 John Carter will teach us 00:11 how to find hope, inspiration and power 00:14 in the world to come. 00:15 There are brighter days ahead 00:17 in God's wonderful world of tomorrow. 00:20 And now, here is John Carter. 00:24 Hi, friend. I'm John Carter. 00:25 Welcome to the Carter Report. 00:27 We're talking about the power of the world to come. 00:31 This is part two. 00:33 Let me tell you, 00:35 amazing little story happened in Australia. 00:38 Group of guys were sitting together 00:40 one night in a bar or a hotel 00:43 as they call it in Australia, 00:44 in a pub, as they call it in Australia. 00:47 They were drinking away 00:49 and then they started to talk about their wives. 00:52 You won't believe this one, but it's true, I'm told. 00:55 They started to talk about how great their wives were. 00:58 One man was talking about his wife, he said, 01:01 "You guys just got no idea. 01:03 She's just amazing and wonderful. 01:05 She's so great 01:07 that I can go home any time of the night, 01:10 drunk as anything, and I say to her, 01:12 "Honey, I'm home, and I'm hungry, 01:15 and I want some food." 01:17 And she gets up and gets me anything I want." 01:21 Now the rest of the men thought this was amazing. 01:24 And they didn't believe it. 01:26 And so they had a little bet. 01:28 Well, we'll go to your house and we'll see, okay, 01:30 so they got up a cab or a taxi. 01:33 They arrived at John's house. 01:35 He cried out with a big voice. 01:37 Hey, Mary it's John, I'm here with my mates. 01:41 And we're really hungry. 01:43 Drunks are always hungry. 01:45 Have you noticed that? 01:47 She gets out of bed 01:48 and she gets a nice meal for them. 01:52 They sit down and they have a great meal. 01:54 And then they get embarrassed 01:56 and they say, "John, we think we better go." 01:59 Oh, he says, "Mary understands. 02:01 She knows, she gets me anything I want and you're my mate. 02:06 So have the food." 02:08 But then they say, "No, we got to go." 02:11 So they go. 02:13 John is sitting there and Mary comes in. 02:17 And he says to her, "Mary, why do you do it? 02:23 Why do you do it? 02:25 I come home, drunk any time of the night, 02:29 and I cry out, I want something to eat, 02:31 and you get up and you get it for me 02:33 and you never, ever complain." 02:39 So she paused and she said, "I'll tell you why. 02:45 Because John, the way you're living, 02:48 this is the only life you're going to have." 02:53 I believe in heaven. You don't believe in God. 02:57 So I'm trying to make this life as close to heaven as I can, 03:02 because the way you're living, 03:05 you're going to know nothing better. 03:10 But as for me, 03:11 I have the hope of heaven in my heart. 03:14 And I have a wonderful, 03:17 wonderful peace." 03:21 That broke him up. 03:23 This true story, this man was so broken up. 03:26 He said, "Mary, I want to have what you've got. 03:30 I want to have the peace and I want to have the joy 03:33 that you've got. 03:34 I too, I want to believe." 03:37 Now listen to me, my friend. 03:39 If you've got the hope of heaven in your heart, 03:42 if you understand the power of the world to come, 03:47 you can face anything. 03:50 And today, we're talking about, 03:53 "The Power of the World to Come." 03:57 And that is why we love that song 03:59 that Vera Lynn used to sing. 04:02 You know the song? 04:04 Yeah, we'll be seeing you. 04:06 It's not all over, 04:08 because there's something better. 04:10 Now I'm going to come in the Bible 04:12 to Revelation 21:1 and 2. 04:16 And this is a follow on 04:17 from the first segment of the program 04:20 on the power of the world to come. 04:21 Here it comes. 04:23 "Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, 04:27 for the first heaven and the first earth 04:29 had passed away. 04:31 Also there was no more sea. 04:33 Then I, John, saw the holy city, 04:38 the New Jerusalem, 04:40 coming down out of heaven from God, 04:42 prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." 04:46 We talked about that in the first segment, 04:49 but the Bible tells me, 04:51 a great miracle is going to happen. 04:54 This mighty city is going to come down 04:59 past the galaxies through space 05:03 and it's going to come down and will rest upon this earth. 05:08 The Bible says it, and I believe it. 05:13 And when that happens, we shall have heaven on earth. 05:17 We are going to taste the power of the world to come. 05:21 Look at Revelation 21:3. 05:24 These are the words of Holy Scripture. 05:27 You can believe it. It's not fake news. 05:30 It's the Word of God. 05:32 "And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, 05:34 'Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, 05:38 and He will dwell with them, 05:40 and they shall be His people. 05:42 God Himself will be with them and be their God.'" 05:46 The Bible says, this new world 05:50 is going to become the center of the universe, 05:54 not an old sin cursed world, 05:56 but a new beautiful, wonderful world. 06:02 Now God has got a plan for your future. 06:04 You may say, "Well, 06:06 I don't think I've got a future." 06:07 I don't, I just, I don't think there's any. 06:09 I want to tell you, my friend, 06:11 God has got a plan for your future. 06:15 And I'm going to show you what the plan is. 06:17 2 Peter, Chapter 3. 06:19 Now Peter was 06:20 one of the greatest people who's ever lived. 06:25 And he wrote this book. 06:26 And he says in 2 Peter 3:10-13. 06:31 Listen up. Listen carefully. 06:33 "But the day of the Lord will come 06:35 as a thief in the night." 06:36 Oh, wait, let me stop there for a minute. 06:39 This brings me back 06:41 many, many years when our son David, 06:44 who is in charge of our television production, 06:46 and who is doing such a fantastic job, 06:48 right at this very moment. 06:50 He was just a little baby. 06:51 We had him in his bassinet on a bed. 06:53 We're in this room right next to him. 06:57 I woke up one night. Little disturbance. 07:01 There was a man getting out of the window. 07:04 We rushed in, David was okay. 07:06 But he'd been standing on the bed 07:09 on which David's bassinet had been placed. 07:14 Now he was a thief. 07:16 I called the police. 07:17 The police came out they said, "Hey, anybody hurt?" 07:22 Said, "Don't think so." 07:23 Well, they said, "Unless you get hurt, 07:25 we can't do anything to help you." 07:28 That's political correctness, my friend. 07:32 But the thief came. 07:34 I chased him down the road 07:36 just as well I didn't catch him because he's so big. 07:40 But I want you to know something. 07:41 A thief doesn't tell you when he's coming. 07:44 And God's not going to tell you either. 07:46 So you better be ready, 07:47 and you better listen up 07:49 and you better take this seriously. 07:51 "But the day of the Lord 07:52 will come as a thief in the night, 07:53 in which the heavens will pass away 07:56 with a great noise, and the elements will melt 07:59 with fervent heat, both the earth and the works 08:02 that are in it will be burned up." 08:06 Therefore, since all these things 08:07 will be dissolved, 08:09 what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct 08:12 and godliness, looking for 08:14 and hastening the coming of the day of God, 08:17 because of which the heavens will be dissolved, 08:22 being on fire, and the elements will melt 08:27 with fervent heat? 08:28 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, 08:31 look for new heavens and a new earth 08:35 in which righteousness dwells." 08:38 Bible tells me that the old order, 08:42 the old heavens, the cosmos, 08:45 and the old earth, 08:47 the very elements are going to catch on fire, 08:50 and they are going to be in the words of Holy Scripture, 08:54 they're going to be dissolved. 08:57 And then the Bible tells me, 08:59 God is going to make a new heaven and a new earth. 09:02 Listen. 09:04 Number one, the fiery destruction 09:07 of the cosmos. 09:08 Are you listening to me? 09:10 The fiery destruction of the cosmos, 09:13 the destruction of the elements, 09:16 the passing away of the heavens, 09:19 the end of planet earth, this sinful earth, 09:22 which is burned up, 09:25 the creation of a new heaven and a new earth. 09:30 Now, please listen to me. 09:33 All of these things of the old order 09:37 are going to be totally destroyed. 09:41 And Almighty God, the Creator, who said in the beginning, 09:46 God created the heavens and the earth. 09:48 He's going to do it again. 09:51 We are going to have the creation 09:53 of new heavens and a new earth. 09:56 This is the word of the Lord. 10:01 You can believe it. 10:04 So death is not the end, we'll meet again 10:08 as Vera Lynn sang to the troops 10:11 in the first World War in Britain. 10:13 God will give His people a new world 10:16 with everything to light the sensors, 10:19 thrill the soul, satisfy the heart, 10:22 bigger and better 10:23 than anything we've ever seen or realized. 10:27 Anything we've ever imagined. 10:31 What will this life be like? 10:34 The power of the world to come? 10:37 Number one, it's going to be endless. 10:40 There's going to be no sin, 10:42 therefore, there's going to be no death. 10:44 There will be no funerals, no undertakers, no hospitals. 10:50 None of those things, because there'll be no sin. 10:54 It will be real. 10:58 People won't be sitting on rosy tinted clouds 11:00 strumming their harps. 11:02 Philippians 3:20 and 21, 11:05 Philippians 3:20, and 21. 11:10 The prophet says, 11:11 "For our citizenship is in heaven, 11:14 from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, 11:19 the Lord Jesus Christ, 11:21 who will transform our lowly body 11:24 that it may be conformed to His glorious body, 11:28 according to the working by 11:30 which He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself." 11:35 The Bible says, God's people are going to get new bodies. 11:38 New bodies? Yeah. 11:40 The Bible says, they're going to be bodies 11:41 like Christ had. 11:43 When Christ was resurrected from the dead, 11:45 He had the eternal body 11:49 which could not decompose, 11:52 which would last for eternity. 11:55 And it was a real body because Jesus, you know, 11:58 with His disciples, 11:59 He prove that He wasn't a spirit 12:01 by eating some fish. 12:04 He said, if you got anything to eat here, 12:05 and they got Him some fish and, you know, 12:08 bread and stuff, and He ate it to show 12:11 that He was not a spirit in the earth made new. 12:16 In God's new creation, 12:17 God's people are going to be real people 12:21 and they're going to do real things. 12:24 How does that make you feel? 12:26 Makes me feel good. 12:28 I don't want to be a spirit, I want to be me. 12:33 Real glorified human beings doing real things. 12:37 Isaiah 65:21 and 22, 12:41 "They shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit, 12:44 they shall not build and another inhabit, 12:47 they shall not plant and another eat, 12:49 for as the days of a tree, 12:51 so shall be the days of My people, 12:54 and My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands." 12:59 In this New World Order, 13:01 God's people are not going to be spirits. 13:04 Don't believe that stuff that is sometimes 13:07 taught that God's people are going to be 13:09 spirit sitting on clouds strumming harps. 13:11 That's not true. 13:13 They're going to be real people. 13:15 And they're going to do real things. 13:18 I say hallelujah. 13:20 Isaiah 65:21 and 22. 13:24 Isaiah 65:21 and 22. 13:28 I want you to see this. 13:30 There it is, verse 21 and 22. 13:32 Listen to the words, 13:34 "They shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit," 13:36 hey, they're not spirits, "they shall not build 13:38 and another inhabit, they shall not plant 13:41 and another eat, for as the days of a tree, 13:44 so shall be the days of My people, 13:48 and My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands." 13:52 So they're not going to be disembodied spirits 13:55 sitting on rosy tinted cloud strumming their harps. 14:01 No, they're going to be real people with real bodies, 14:04 and they're going to do real, real things. 14:10 And, folks, 14:11 there's not going to be any sin. 14:15 And because there's no sin, because sin has been abolished, 14:19 therefore there's going to be no pain, 14:22 no sickness, no fatigue, no sorrow, 14:26 and no depression, Hey, no sin, 14:30 but it's going to, it's going to be wonderful 14:33 and we will taste the power of the world to come. 14:36 Look at this text, Isaiah 65:25, Isaiah 65, 14:42 it says, "'The wolf and the lamb 14:44 shall feed together, 14:45 the lion shall eat straw like the ox, 14:47 and dust shall be the serpent's food. 14:51 They shall not hurt nor destroy 14:53 in all My holy mountain,' says the Lord.'" 14:57 No wars. 14:59 You won't need a military 15:01 because there's going to be no sin. 15:05 Then Revelation 21:4 and 5. 15:08 It just caps it all with a description of glory. 15:12 "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, 15:16 there shall be no more death." 15:19 Hey, don't you want to go to that place? 15:21 No more death, no pandemics, no COVID-19, 15:25 "no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, 15:27 there shall be no more pain," 15:29 no pain, no pain, no depression, 15:33 "for the former things have passed away. 15:37 Then He who sat on the throne said, 15:39 'Behold, I make all things new.' 15:43 And He said to me, 'Write, 15:45 for these words are true and faithful.'" 15:49 You can believe this, 15:50 because this, my friend, is the very word of God. 15:56 These are not just the words of man. 15:59 It's a description. 16:00 It is a look into the future, into the world to come. 16:05 Listen, no deaths, no funerals, 16:11 no hospitals, no sick people, 16:14 no pandemics better than you can understand, 16:19 better than any person can comprehend or realize. 16:23 It is going, we're going to taste the power. 16:26 Are you listening to me? 16:27 We're going to taste the power of the world to come. 16:32 We'll meet again. 16:34 Death is not the end, we will meet again. 16:37 So listen up and believe it and have faith. 16:41 You see, my friend, we need to have hope. 16:44 You can put up with anything if you got hope. 16:46 You can put up with anything if you got hope. 16:49 But the death of hope always leads to the hope for death. 16:52 But I'm talking today hope, hope, hope and we have hope, 16:55 because Christ is coming 16:57 and He's going to give us a brand new world. 17:02 Now somebody's going to say to me, 17:04 "Oh, John Carter, it's too good to be true. 17:07 It's just pie in the sky and sweet wine by, you know." 17:11 Going to tell you a little story 17:13 now that's dear to my heart. 17:15 And that's the story 17:17 of the great Australian outback. 17:21 A lot of folks don't know this, but continental Australia, 17:24 it's the smallest continent. 17:26 It's the biggest Island. 17:28 But continental Australia 17:29 is about the same size 17:31 as the United States of America if you take off Alaska. 17:36 The outback is big, big country. 17:40 Huge. 17:43 Want to tell you a little bit about 17:44 the plight of the people living there hundred years ago. 17:48 There were in remoteness, 17:50 the loneliness, the dangers, 17:53 you got bitten by a snake, what could you do? 17:56 The heat in summer, 17:57 blistering heat, and in winter, 17:59 at nighttime you can freeze. 18:01 Now I'm thinking more than 100 years ago. 18:04 No doctors, no nurses, 18:07 no hospitals in the outback of Australia 100 years ago. 18:11 And some of the bravest people in the world went 18:13 and live there. 18:16 The Reverend John Flynn, 18:18 a Presbyterian minister 18:21 founded the Australian Inland Mission. 18:24 He was a person who cared for the souls of the people. 18:28 He did that in 1912. 18:30 And with a broken old car or a camel, 18:34 he would go into the outback and minister to the people. 18:38 Qantas started in 1920 in Longreach, in Queensland. 18:44 It is the oldest airline in the English speaking world. 18:48 It is also the safest airline in the world, 18:51 and it's a part of our story. 18:54 Flynn started the School of the Air around the same time 18:57 using a pedal radio for the children 18:59 on the remote cattle station, 19:01 so they could get an education. 19:04 Then Flynn started the Flying Doctor Service, 19:07 still going today, 19:08 one of the marvels of the world. 19:10 He started it in 1928 19:12 to bring medical help to the people of the outback. 19:16 The first flight for the Flying Doctor Service 19:19 was with a rented Qantas plane at 20 cents a mile. 19:25 The plane was called Victory. 19:29 Hey, still listening. 19:31 Then the plane was started to bring 19:32 the children of the outback on holidays to see the sea. 19:38 At Manly today which 19:40 is a suburb of Sydney, 19:43 is a large building 19:45 where children are brought 19:46 from the inland to experience the ocean. 19:51 I've seen some of those boys and girls going back 50 years. 19:56 I have seen some of them 19:57 being escorted by the nurses to the beach, 20:02 and then into the ocean. 20:05 You see, reading about the ocean is not enough. 20:11 You got to taste it. 20:14 It's like heaven. 20:16 Nothing can prepare you for the experience. 20:19 The winder, the waves, the sound of the surf, 20:24 if you've got to experience it 20:26 before you can understand it. 20:32 That's like heaven. 20:34 So big, so beautiful. Feel so good. 20:37 Reading about it is not enough. 20:39 Listening to a lecture is not enough. 20:42 I've seen the look on the faces 20:44 of the children from the outback. 20:45 I've heard the, "Oh, ah, wow! 20:50 This is a million times 20:51 better than my teacher told me." 20:56 That's what heaven's going to be like, 20:58 a million times better. 21:01 What does the infidel know about this? 21:03 Nothing. 21:05 And I want to tell you, folk, something. 21:08 You can't understand it fully now. 21:11 You got to experience it. 21:13 That's why the Bible says, 21:15 the great text, "Eye has not seen, 21:19 nor ear heard, nor have entered 21:22 into the heart of man, the things which God 21:25 has prepared for those who love Him." 21:29 A billion times better. 21:32 Wouldn't you like to go there? 21:34 Wouldn't you like to go there? 21:36 What's stopping you my friend? Billion times better. 21:41 And Jesus wants me there, that's the best thing. 21:44 John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that 21:48 He gave His one and only Son, 21:50 that whoever believes in Him shall not perish 21:53 but have eternal, everlasting life." 21:56 The Creator God became a man and died on the cross 22:00 so that you could go to heaven. 22:02 What's stopping you? 22:04 It tells you, He loves you. 22:07 We're talking today 22:08 about the power of the world to come. 22:12 I love American history. I love America. 22:15 The Battle of Gettysburg, 22:17 one of the great battles of the Civil War, 22:20 General Meade versus General Lee. 22:22 On the third day came Pickett's Charge 22:26 12,000 southerners, members of the Confederacy 22:32 versus the Union storming up Cemetery Hill. 22:37 Tremendous courage, but for a lost cause. 22:43 So the southerners that day lost the battle 22:46 as they lost this war, Civil War. 22:50 Lincoln, that great president 22:53 sent this message to his general, 22:56 "Pursue the enemy, break his power. 23:00 Now is your opportunity 23:01 to end the war and stop the bloodshed." 23:04 Pursue, pursue, pursue. 23:07 But they couldn't.
