I'm John Carter. 00:39 Welcome today to the Carter Report. 00:41 On occasions, I receive some outstanding letters. 00:45 And I have such a letter today. 00:48 This letter is sent to me by an African American lady. 00:53 And she writes to me, 00:55 she watches our television programs, 00:57 she's a great supporter. 00:59 And because the letter is so important 01:02 because it is so... 01:05 What should I say, 01:06 it is so weighted with the great issues of life. 01:12 I'm going to read it to you today. 01:13 As I read it, 01:15 I'm going to make some comments, 01:16 but we're glad to have you with us today. 01:18 Welcome again to the Carter Report. 01:20 I'm here in an empty studio. 01:23 My friend Wayne Hackett 01:24 is going to come on the program later on today. 01:27 But otherwise, we've got an empty studio. 01:29 We've got new camera people, 01:31 we've got a tiny little crew upstairs. 01:34 But in spite of COVID-19, by the grace of God, 01:38 we are going ahead. 01:41 Hear me? 01:42 We're going ahead and here's the letter, 01:46 "Dear Pastor Carter, first, let me Say 01:49 that I've been blessed by your ministry 01:51 for many years. 01:52 And I do not think all white people are racists. 01:58 I'm writing you in response to your statement 02:01 on the most recent racial crisis 02:03 in this country, " 02:04 I put out a newsletter that you can get, 02:08 and I spoke about racism. 02:11 "I'm an African American. 02:12 I have feared going outside lately, 02:16 and it's not because of the coronavirus, 02:19 it's because of the color of my skin. 02:26 I want to thank you 02:27 for condemning the unjustifiable 02:29 and cruel death of George Floyd. 02:34 I also grew agree 02:36 that looting hurts innocent people, 02:38 and is not the answer to the problem. 02:42 Amen. 02:44 I've heard you mentioned Dr. King in your messages 02:47 on this subject. 02:48 Well, you stated how he believed 02:50 in non-violence." 02:52 However, he had much more to say 02:54 on the subject. 02:56 I want to say to this lady, 02:58 I've always been a great fan of Martin Luther King 03:03 when I was a young pastor in Australia. 03:07 I watched him, 03:08 and my soul was strangely moved. 03:13 I am addressing this because I am a teacher. 03:17 And as I listen to and read comments 03:20 from my white brothers and sisters in the SDA church, 03:26 and this lady is an Adventist Christian, 03:28 I can see that there is need for much more education 03:32 on the topic of race, 03:36 not only in the nation at large 03:38 but right here in our Adventist community, 03:43 and stay with me, friend, 03:45 I don't know if you are aware of all the things 03:48 that Ellen G. White had to say on the topic of race. 03:53 I recently found out 03:54 that she was an evolutionist during slavery. 04:00 Why doesn't our church leaders teach this? 04:04 In addition, I was recently introduced 04:07 to a quote by her that says, 04:12 "The desire to show their masterly authority 04:17 over the blacks 04:18 is still burning in the hearts of many 04:22 who claim to be Christians, 04:26 but whose lives declare 04:28 that they are standing under the black banner 04:32 of the great apostate." 04:35 "Now before we go any further, let me say this, 04:41 that I believe that this is an issue 04:43 that needs to be addressed, 04:46 but with an open mind. 04:50 And I want you to notice before we go any farther today, 04:53 I want you to notice some of these texts. 04:57 "Jesus answered and said to him, 05:00 'Most assuredly, I say to you, 05:05 unless one is born again, 05:08 he cannot see the kingdom of God.' 05:13 Nicodemus said to Him, 05:15 'How can a man be born when he is old? 05:19 Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb 05:23 and to be born?' 05:25 Jesus answered, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, 05:30 unless one is born of water and the Spirit, 05:36 he cannot enter the kingdom of God, 05:38 that which is born of the flesh is flesh, 05:41 and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.'" 05:45 Listen to me very carefully. 05:48 The solution to racism 05:51 is not primarily political or politics 05:55 can have a part in this. 05:57 It is far more than politics. 06:00 The issue is a spiritual issue. 06:05 You see in Genesis Chapter 3, 06:08 we are told how man lost his life. 06:12 In John Chapter 3, 06:14 we find out how he gets it back again, 06:16 every person needs to be born again. 06:21 This, of course is true concerning a white man. 06:27 It is true of an Asian man, it is true of a brown man, 06:32 it is true of a black man. 06:36 If you open up a white man, 06:38 and if you open up a black man, 06:40 and if you look inside, you're going to see, 06:42 you're going to find the same inside. 06:46 And every one of us needs to be born again. 06:49 This is the great texts 06:50 that Martin Luther King quoted with such power 06:54 in his dynamic oratory, 06:57 "But let justice roll on like a river, 07:02 righteousness like a never-failing stream!" 07:06 The only way you can get justice, my friend, 07:10 is when you get righteousness, 07:12 and righteousness comes from God. 07:16 And so, my sister, I'm agreeing 07:18 with what you're saying here today. 07:20 But I want to emphasize 07:22 this is a problem 07:24 that can ultimately only be resolved 07:27 through the power of the Holy Spirit. 07:29 And that is why God raised up Martin Luther King 07:32 and other great preachers of the gospel. 07:36 I've traveled the world, been to Russia, 07:40 seen racism in Russia. 07:43 I've seen racism in the great land of America 07:47 that I love with all my heart. 07:50 I've seen racism down under. 07:53 I've seen racism in Africa. 07:56 Have you ever heard of Rwanda? 07:59 I ask you check out 08:01 how a million people were killed in Rwanda 08:05 by their own brothers and sisters. 08:08 So what I'm saying is this racism is a scourge 08:13 and it comes from a depraved human heart, 08:19 whether that heart is white, 08:23 rather whether that heart is in a white body 08:27 or whether it is in a black body. 08:30 Look at this text. 08:32 Jesus said, 08:33 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, " 08:38 What you and I need, my friend 08:40 is not more talks from the politicians. 08:43 I'm tired of it. I'm sick of it. 08:45 I'm telling you, we need the Spirit of the Lord. 08:48 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me 08:50 because He has anointed me 08:52 to preach the gospel to the poor. 08:55 He has sent me to heal the broken hearted 08:59 to proclaim liberty to the captives." 09:04 So when the Spirit of God comes, 09:06 there can be no racism, 09:09 "to proclaim liberty to the captives 09:11 and recovery of sight to the blind," 09:14 listen, "To set at liberty, those who are oppressed." 09:21 Racism is one of the most ungodly, 09:27 one of the most unchristian, 09:30 one of the most uncivilized plagues 09:34 that has ever come upon the human race. 09:38 Let me read on. 09:40 "Pastor Carter, Ellen G. White was sent 09:43 all the way to Australia, your home country, 09:47 by our church leaders of the time 09:50 because she was speaking out 09:51 against racism and bigotry in America." 09:56 I didn't know that. 09:58 I know she was sent 10:00 because she was stirring up the brethren in America. 10:03 I didn't know it had anything to do with racism, 10:05 but I'm glad to learn. 10:07 She also said, 10:09 "While we will endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit 10:13 in the buns of peace, 10:15 we will not with pain or voice cease 10:18 to protest against bigotry." 10:22 Amen. 10:23 "Pastor Carter, 10:25 why aren't these important messages 10:26 by Sister White preached loudly and clearly, 10:29 especially right now by our FDA leaders. 10:35 Instead, many are just silent 10:37 or just focused on the violence, 10:40 rather than the causes of the problem. 10:45 Some even seem to think 10:46 that black people have the cornerstone on violence, 10:50 and they forget how black people 10:52 were violently taken from their homes in Africa, 10:55 then kept in slavery for over 200 years. 10:59 And then they were lynched, black men were lynched. 11:04 Black man after black man during the Jim Crow era. 11:09 And here we are, 11:11 and black people 11:12 are still being killed violently by white racists, 11:17 and racist police officers. 11:20 Why do I still have to fear going outside 11:23 because of the color of my skin?" 11:26 I say, Lord, have mercy upon us. 11:31 And what America needs and what my country needs 11:35 and what South Africa needs, 11:37 and what every country in the world needs 11:41 is a great spiritual rebirth. 11:47 When you have a great spiritual rebirth, 11:50 my friend, there will be the end 11:53 to the devil called racism. 11:57 "Unfortunately, 11:59 some of my white brothers and sisters 12:00 don't feel that they need to do anything, 12:03 because it doesn't directly affect them. 12:06 They do not have to fear being killed by a racist 12:10 due to the color of their skin, 12:12 or worry about being killed by the police 12:15 because of the color of their skin." 12:16 That is true. That is true. 12:20 But I would remind you, my sister, 12:22 that there are white people in some countries of the world 12:25 who are persecuted 12:26 because of the color of their skin, 12:29 because racism resides in the heart 12:32 of fallen human beings. 12:34 She says, "I have five brothers, 12:41 strong black men. 12:43 So not only am I concerned about myself, 12:46 I'm deeply concerned about them." 12:49 Think of this, and it says in the Bible, 12:52 can a leper change his spots? 12:54 We as black people cannot do anything 12:57 about the color of our skin. 13:01 Therefore this demonic virus of racism 13:04 must be addressed, especially by the church." 13:07 I say Amen and Amen. 13:10 It is a disgrace 13:12 that a black man goes in fear of his life 13:16 because he is born a black man. 13:19 Who made the black man? 13:21 Almighty God. 13:23 And if you respect to Almighty God, 13:25 you will respect people of different races. 13:32 I have come to believe that this coronavirus, 13:35 which is topmost worldwide travel is forcing us 13:39 to focus on this unresolved problem 13:41 of racism here in America. 13:46 God has a long overdue work for us to do as Christians 13:50 and He is shedding light on Sister White's writings 13:54 during these perilous times. 13:57 Many people are now discovering them 14:00 and are talking about them. 14:02 It is a long overdue mission of the SDA church. 14:07 As you can see, 14:08 Sister White spoke about this years ago." 14:11 But let me tell you, 14:12 there are some SDA leaders 14:15 who are the very antithesis of racist 14:19 by like the people at 3ABN 14:22 that employ people of every race, 14:25 God bless them. 14:27 "I have been 14:28 that is why I'm trying to do my part 14:31 by helping to educate myself and others on this topic, 14:35 Pastor Carter, I'm reaching out to you 14:39 because you've been such an inspiration to me, 14:42 and God has used you in a mighty way." 14:44 Hallelujah. 14:45 Praise God and Glory be to God. 14:49 "You are His fearless servant. 14:50 I've been awed by your courage and how you have stood up 14:53 to the KGB in Russia 14:55 and how God protected you during your meetings there. 14:59 And even inside some parts of Africa, 15:01 it is my hope that you will join 15:03 with other leaders of our church 15:04 and help bring an end to the virus of racism." 15:09 I so pledge, 15:13 I so pledge. 15:16 Let me end with these quotes from the Bible, 15:18 "No one calls for justice nor pleads for truth." 15:22 Luke 4:18, 15:23 "'The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. 15:25 He's anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, 15:28 He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, 15:30 to preach deliverance to the captives, 15:33 and recovery of sight to the blind, 15:35 to set at liberty, them that oppressed.' 15:39 I have decided to live by these words of God. 15:43 And I'm praying that my brothers and sisters, 15:46 white, black, Asian, Hispanic, will do the same. 15:52 God bless you, 15:53 sincerely your sister in Christ, 15:56 Linda D." 15:58 God bless you, my sister. 16:02 I am encouraged today to recognize 16:06 the God raised up people 16:08 to address this abominable practice. 16:12 Martin Luther King 16:14 but also 16:17 some of these great characters here. 16:20 Like the Great John Wesley, my hero, 16:25 what a mighty preacher, 16:28 persecuted in England 16:32 and whence came my ancestors. 16:36 John Wesley, 16:37 who had tremendous influence upon John Newton. 16:42 You've heard of John Newton, haven't you? 16:44 He gave us the great hymn, "Amazing Grace, 16:48 how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me." 16:52 John Newton used to be the captain of a slave ship 16:56 until he found the gospel 16:59 through the preaching of John Wesley, 17:02 who raised up the Methodist Church. 17:04 Now we're talking about men. 17:07 I'm not talking about Woosef, we're talking about men. 17:13 And then this man, 17:15 Wilberforce 17:17 came under the influence of Newton 17:19 who'd been converted by John Wesley. 17:22 I want you to notice they are white men too. 17:27 And it was through Wilberforce 17:30 that England abolished the slave trade 17:35 many, many, many, many years 17:38 before they did it here in America. 17:42 And Abraham Lincoln, 17:44 that great man who stood up for the slaves 17:48 and stood up the truth. 17:50 Now all of this scenario is a part of my contention, 17:56 my friend, listen to me, 18:00 that the solution to racism 18:04 is not especially political 18:08 because the politicians usually tell you 18:11 what you want to hear 18:13 so they can get reelected 18:15 so they can keep their fat jobs. 18:18 You know it's true. 18:20 Hey, do they think we're crazy? 18:24 Now listen to me. 18:26 The people who've done more than anybody else 18:29 in this world to lift the bondage 18:32 and to take away the chains 18:35 have been those who have been motivated 18:38 by the teachings of the Bible. 18:43 And so I want to say to every person today, 18:46 I don't care who you are, whether you are black 18:49 or white or brown or Asian, I don't care. 18:55 God doesn't care 18:56 because man looks on the outward appearance, 18:59 God looks on the heart. 19:02 And the solution 19:03 to all of these dreadful social problems 19:06 including the problem of rioting, 19:10 and lawlessness, 19:12 and the murders in our cities, 19:15 I mean, we are perhaps the most violent nation 19:21 in the Western world. 19:23 Is that... 19:24 Yes, we are in the Western, the so called first world. 19:28 We are the most violent nation, 19:31 and what we need, my friend, 19:33 less politics and more preaching 19:35 of the great truths of the Bible. 19:39 And when a person is born again 19:42 and God changes the heart, 19:45 we have an end to oppression and lawlessness 19:51 and slavery and racism 19:54 and every other abominable practice 19:59 and you and I can be. 20:02 Are you listening to me still? 20:04 Or have you said, "Look, it's a bit too strong for me"? 20:07 Listen to me. 20:10 It starts with you. 20:12 And it starts with me. 20:15 So thank you so much, my sister, 20:16 for the great, great letter. 20:18 I stand with you by the grace of God. 20:21 Now we have our great friend Wayne Hackett 20:24 in the studio today. 20:26 He's a voice that is known 20:28 all over the United States of America. 20:32 Television hear Wayne's great voice. 20:36 And we're going to start again today 20:39 with the questions and the answers, 20:41 questions that we consider to be relevant and pertinent 20:44 and we've got all these questions together, 20:48 the summation of so many questions 20:52 that are sent to us. 20:54 And Wayne is here in the studio 20:55 and we welcome Wayne Hackett today. 20:59 And he's going to ask the questions, 21:01 and I will do my best to answer them. 21:06 How can I be ready to die? 21:09 And does everyone go to heaven? 21:12 Well, it'd be great if I can tell you 21:14 that everybody goes to heaven. 21:16 Any person who preaches that is the devil 21:20 because Jesus said, we've got to be born again. 21:23 Now, here's the text, Matthew 7:13 and 14. 21:29 And I'm going to take my Bible, 21:32 I encourage you to read your Bible. 21:36 The greatest weakness we have today in Christianity 21:40 in America and Australia and Europe 21:46 is ignorance of the will of God 21:48 which is taught in the Bible. 21:52 We have become a profoundly ignorant people, 21:55 ignorant as far as scripture is concerned. 21:57 We're great on trivia. 21:59 That's not going to get you too far. 22:01 Matthew Chapter 7 22:04 and let me see 13 and 14. 22:09 Jesus said, "Enter by the narrow gate, " 22:15 oh "for wide is the gate and broad is the way 22:17 that leads to destruction, 22:18 and there are many who go by it 22:22 because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way," 22:28 Hey, it's difficult to be a true Christian, 22:30 "and difficult is the way which leads to life. 22:34 And there are few that find it," 22:37 You say, "That's not what I had been taught." 22:40 Well, you have been taught wrong. 22:42 The Bible says 22:44 the majority are not going to be saved. 22:47 Don't believe the false prophet. 22:51 If you want to be saved, 22:53 believe that Christ died for you 22:54 because He did. 22:56 The greatest text, 22:58 John 3:60, greatest text in all of Bible, 23:02 "For God so loved the world," 23:04 He loves you, you hear me? 23:06 God loves you. 23:08 He loves the world, 23:09 "that He gave His one and only Son 23:11 that whoever believes in Him shall not perish 23:14 but have everlasting life." 23:16 If you truly trust in Christ, if you truly believe in Him, 23:21 then, my friend, you're not going to perish. 23:23 You're going to have everlasting life. 23:25 You are going to go to heaven. 23:29 Ah, trust in Him. 23:31 Yes. 23:32 Put your faith in Him and repent of your sins. 23:37 I don't want to repack another famous man who says, 23:40 "I don't repent of any of my sins 23:43 because I haven't got any sins." 23:45 Well, that is a complete delusion. 23:47 The Bible says I must repent. 23:50 Acts 2:37. 23:53 Here it goes, Acts 2. 23:55 "Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, " 23:58 that means they got down inside, 23:59 you know, it stirred them up, 24:01 "and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, 24:04 'Men and brethren, what shall we do?' 24:06 Then Peter said to them, 'Repent, 24:08 and let every one of you be baptized 24:10 in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ 24:12 for the remission of sins 24:13 and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 24:17 For the promise is to you and your children 24:20 and to all who are afar off, 24:21 as many as the Lord our God will call.'" 24:23 We're all sinners. 24:26 You're sinner. 24:27 Am I a sinner? Yeah, we're all sinners. 24:29 We're all sinners. 24:31 We're old. 24:33 Unlike sinners, 24:35 we've all got our specialties 24:37 is what I'm trying to say. 24:39 And the Bible tells us we must repent of our sins. 24:43 And then the Bible says we need to be baptized. 24:46 Acts 2:40 and 41. 24:52 And with many other words, He testified and exhorted them, 24:55 saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation. 24:59 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized, 25:04 and that day about 3,000 souls were added to them." 25:07 I've got to repent of my sins. 25:09 And the Bible says 25:11 I need to be baptized 25:14 as a sign that I have been born again. 25:18 I need to read my Bible every day. 25:22 The greatest weakness 25:23 with so called Christianity today 25:26 is that most people are dumb 25:28 concerning the truths of the Bible. 25:30 Read the Bible, 25:32 and keep the holy Sabbath and go to church, 25:35 find a church. 25:36 Find a church where people love Jesus, 25:39 find a church, keep the Sabbath. 25:42 Remember what Karl Barth said, 25:44 "When the holy day becomes the day of man, 25:46 society and humanity wither away 25:48 and the demons rule." 25:51 Be baptized. 25:53 Find a church where Christ is worshipped, 25:55 where Christ is adored, 25:57 where people are taught 25:58 to keep the commandments of God, 26:01 and by the grace of God through the blood of Christ, 26:04 you will be saved. 26:06 And you'll be in the kingdom. 26:08 More to come. 26:09 We'll be back soon. 26:27 The Carter Report is now streaming 26:28 on demand for you. 26:31 Now you can have the teachings of John Carter any time, 26:34 day or night. 26:36 By streaming the Carter Report, 26:38 there is more content for you to choose from, 26:41 and it's easy. 26:44 If you are new to streaming, 26:45 all you need to do is purchase a streaming device. 26:48 It doesn't really matter which one. 26:50 You can buy a Roku, Amazon Fire, or Apple TV 26:54 from any major retailer. 26:56 You or a family member can plug the device 27:00 into your TV 27:01 and sign into your Internet connection. 27:04 Do a search for the Carter Report 27:06 and download the app to your device. 27:08 From then on, your device and the Carter Report app 27:12 can provide you with hundreds of on-demand programs. 27:16 You can also take the Carter Report with you 27:18 wherever you go. 27:20 The official free Carter Report mobile app 27:22 can be downloaded to your phone or tablet. 27:26 Go to the App Store or Google Play Store 27:28 and download the app. 27:31 Additionally, you can find Carter Report programs 27:34 on your favorite podcast. 27:36 You can also watch us on Vimeo or YouTube. 27:40 Type the Carter Report in the search box. 27:44 You can watch 27:46 hundreds of uninterrupted John Carter teachings 27:48 whenever you want for as many hours as you want. 27:52 Travel with John Carter as he circles the globe 27:55 to bring the gospel to millions of people. 27:57 Watch the Carter Classics from over 50 years of ministry 28:01 and gain knowledge from stimulating interviews 28:03 with Christian leaders. 28:06 You now have multiple ways to watch the Carter Report. 28:10 And once you start streaming, 28:11 you'll find comfort in having these teachings 28:13 readily available to you, 28:15 whenever and wherever you want, for free. 28:20 Welcome to the inspirational world 28:22 of John Carter. 28:28 For a copy of today's program, 28:30 please contact us at P.O.
