00:02 I'm John Carter in Moscow.
00:04 In Havana, Cuba. 00:07 Now in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. 00:10 I'm John Carter in Petra. 00:13 Right here in Communist China. 00:16 Reporting from India. 00:18 Hi, I'm John Carter in the Solomon Islands. 00:21 I'm John Carter in Soweto. 00:24 From El Salvador. 00:26 I'm John Carter in Sydney, Australia. 00:29 Will America survive? 00:31 The solution to corruption, crime and anarchy. 00:34 Now here is John Carter with today's message. 00:39 Hi, friend. I'm John Carter in Los Angeles. 00:42 This is the second part of the program. 00:44 Here it is, "Will America survive?" 00:48 Pretty big question, ain't it? 00:50 "The solution to corruption, crime and anarchy." 00:55 Are we going to survive through some great coalition 00:59 of church and state? 01:02 I think not. 01:04 Because there is no greatness, my friend, 01:08 no greatness without goodness 01:11 and goodness does not come from the state, 01:14 goodness comes from Almighty God. 01:18 Now here's the text. 01:20 We used this in the first segment, 01:22 we're going to use it again now. 01:24 2 Chronicles 7:14, 01:28 you do need to see the first part. 01:30 That's pretty powerful. 01:32 Here we go. 01:33 "If My people who are called by My name," 01:37 it used to be the children of Israel, the Jews. 01:41 "If My people who are called by My name 01:44 will humble themselves, 01:46 and pray and seek My face, 01:49 and turn from their wicked ways, 01:51 then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, 01:56 heal their land." 01:58 The same text talks about the desolation 02:01 that would come to the people of God 02:04 through famines and pestilences and wars. 02:09 And then the cry would go up, what are we going to do? 02:13 And the answer was, 02:14 if my people who are called by My name 02:17 will pray, humble themselves and seek My face, 02:23 then there will come restitution, 02:26 there will come greatness. 02:28 Now, let me just tell you this before we go any further today. 02:34 I'm quite certain 02:35 that this talk will not please the far left or the far right 02:40 in the United States of America. 02:42 Because in America today, sadly, 02:45 everything is politicized. 02:48 And we have this great division. 02:51 But today, I'm not here to please you. 02:55 Did you hear this? 02:57 I love you, 02:58 but I'm not here to please you 03:00 and because I love you, I want you to know the truth. 03:04 Because Jesus said, "You'll know the truth, 03:06 and the truth will make you free." 03:10 So today, I'm appealing to people of reason, 03:14 people who want to please God, 03:16 and who want to see 03:18 the greatness of America restored. 03:22 Now let me tell you this also, 03:24 and this is a little bit controversial. 03:28 A minister's job 03:29 is not to tell people how to vote. 03:32 "Oh, you say no, no, no, you got it wrong. 03:36 That's what a minister's supposed to do. 03:39 A minister is supposed to tell the people how to vote, 03:43 so that we can have the right government, 03:46 so we can have 03:47 the greatest nation in the history of the world." 03:49 It doesn't work like that. 03:51 A minister's job is not to get out the vote, 03:55 a minister's job is to save souls, 03:59 and to preach the gospel. 04:01 A minister's job, my friend, 04:04 now hear me please in the name of God, 04:06 a minister's job is to preach the gospel 04:11 and to save souls. 04:14 It is not to get out the vote, 04:16 it is to get people into heaven. 04:19 And I want you to know this great truth today, 04:22 what America needs more than anything else, 04:25 what we all need, we need a spiritual rebirth. 04:31 And that's not going to come 04:33 through the Senate or the Congress, 04:35 and it's not going to come through the White House. 04:40 It comes from God. 04:44 I'm going to tell you some amazing great truths. 04:48 We need a spiritual rebirth. 04:52 Remember I say to you, my friends, 04:55 England in the days of John Wesley, 04:59 who was a Church of England minister. 05:03 He was a flame of fire in the hands of Almighty God, 05:07 he got kicked out of his church, 05:09 the stuffy old Church of England, 05:13 because he had the temerity 05:15 to go and preach the gospel out on the streets. 05:20 I want you to notice this text in the Bible. 05:23 I'm going to turn over here 05:25 to the Gospel of John Chapter 1, 05:29 dear hearts and gentle people, 05:32 John Chapter 1, and stay with me. 05:36 And I want to say 05:37 how much I love our great audience 05:40 around the world, 05:41 our tremendous audience on 3ABN, on Roku, 05:45 Amazon Fire. 05:47 We've got so many marvelous outlets. 05:50 I have a fantastic television crew. 05:54 We're working under great difficulties 05:56 because of the great pandemic 05:58 that is taking tens of thousands of lives 06:01 here in these United States. 06:03 And today is a time 06:05 when we should be calling out for God to help us. 06:09 John 1:10 says, speaking of another John, 06:13 it says, John Chapter 1 and let me see... 06:19 No, it's verse, verse 6. 06:23 John 1:6, 06:24 "There was a man sent from God, 06:28 whose name was John." 06:30 He wasn't sent by the Sanhedrin. 06:33 He wasn't sent from the White House. 06:36 He wasn't sent from the Congress. 06:38 He wasn't sent from any political party. 06:43 John the Baptist was a man who was sent from God. 06:47 Oh, today that we had men and women 06:51 who were sent from God. 06:54 He was called a brand plucked from the burning. 06:58 The rectory caught on fire one night, 07:00 it was burned down by the enemies of his father, 07:04 who was quite a preacher. 07:08 Wesley lived in the 18th century 07:10 from around, no, not around, from 1703 to 1791, 07:16 he was ordained an Anglican priest, 07:19 and he went over here 07:20 to the United States of America. 07:23 He went to Savannah, 07:25 because he wanted to save America. 07:29 And particularly, he wanted to save the Indians. 07:34 But he was a complete failure, 07:35 because he didn't have the Spirit of God. 07:38 When he was traveling on one occasion, 07:39 he got into a tremendous storm, 07:42 and the waves were tossing high, 07:44 and he thought he was going to drown, 07:46 and he was full of fear, 07:48 but he noticed 07:49 there were some Christians there 07:51 who were called the Moravians. 07:53 And in the midst of the storm, they were praising God. 07:56 What a spectacle. 07:59 And he longed to have their faith. 08:04 And then May, 1738, 08:09 he went along to a little meeting house in London 08:12 on a very cold day, Aldersgate Lane, 08:16 and he heard 08:18 a layman read the preface 08:20 of Martin Luther's book to Romans. 08:24 And there Martin Luther describes 08:26 the power of God that changes the heart. 08:30 And Wesley stood up in the meeting, and he said, 08:33 "I felt my heart strangely warmed." 08:40 And Wesley had found God. 08:42 Or perhaps we should say, God had found Wesley. 08:47 He was called by God to save His nation. 08:52 Now, sometimes 08:54 we're completely oblivious of the facts of history. 08:57 But let me tell you a little bit today 08:58 about old England. 09:00 What was England 09:01 like in the days of John Wesley, 09:04 in the 18th century? 09:07 Well, the rich were getting richer, 09:10 and the poor were getting poorer. 09:14 Nothing new under the sun, is there? 09:17 Many were out of work, 09:20 the nation was bitterly divided. 09:23 London was a city of 600,000 souls 09:27 soon to grow to a million people, 09:30 a great city for those days. 09:33 And people, 09:34 the poor people lived in terrible squalor. 09:40 The rich lived in mansions as they do today, 09:45 the poor in filthy hovels as they do today. 09:50 They live did the poor on bread and potatoes. 09:55 Five hundred out of 1000 children died 10:00 before they reached the age of two. 10:03 Malnutrition, bad water, dirty food, poor hygiene, 10:10 these were the great assaults 10:13 upon human dignity and human life. 10:17 The times were right for a revolution. 10:22 Are you still listening to me, 10:24 because I'm going to compare this to America. 10:28 And Britain or England had become rich 10:32 through the slave trade. 10:36 And society was ripe for revolution, 10:39 such as came to France 10:41 that had similar social conditions. 10:44 Think about France. 10:48 A corrupt king, a corrupt foolish queen, 10:53 corrupt priests, corrupt lords, suffering masses, 10:59 poverty, filth, disease, and injustice. 11:04 And God sent a man. 11:08 In England, they had one big business trade, 11:11 well, they had many, 11:12 but one of their main businesses 11:14 was selling alcohol. 11:17 The sale and the consumption of gin, 11:22 half of all the wheat harvests didn't go to feeding children, 11:26 but to making gin, that was cheap and strong, 11:31 a powerful drug for the suffering masses. 11:34 You know why people turn to alcohol today, my friend, 11:39 and why they turn to drugs? 11:41 It is because of the hunger inside 11:45 which they will not admit. 11:47 Saint Augustine said our souls were made for God, 11:49 they cannot rest until they rest in Him. 11:54 So England had become a nation of drunkards. 11:59 Crime, poverty, death, 12:03 disease, cholera, smallpox, typhus, 12:10 they didn't have COVID-19, 12:11 but they had diseases that I would suggest to you, 12:14 which were far worse. 12:17 And no health benefits. 12:20 Women were forced into prostitution. 12:24 Out of a population of around a million in London, 12:31 up to 50, 000 women were involved in prostitution, 12:38 because they were starving. 12:41 Often for the gratification 12:43 did they provide these services for the wealthy, 12:47 the infamous 1%. 12:51 And God sent a man. 12:54 We need a man today. 12:57 We need a man of God. 12:59 You hear what I'm saying, my friend. 13:01 Don't think the politicians are going to save you. 13:04 Please let's not be so naive. 13:09 Let us realize 13:12 that salvation is found in God. 13:16 Let me just give you a summary of England. 13:20 Back in the days of John Wesley, 13:22 poverty, exploitation of the suffering poor, 13:27 disease, alcohol, 13:30 a pubs would put up the sign they were abuzz. 13:33 Will make you drunk for a penny and dead drunk for tuppence 13:37 with straw to lie on. 13:40 That was England. 13:42 Land of hope and glory, don't think so. 13:45 Injustice, prostitution, 13:48 think of the pornography today 13:49 in the United States of America. 13:52 The rich getting richer, the poor getting poorer, 13:55 and a great burning resentment in the hearts of the people. 14:00 And indifferent king whose stupidity was soon 14:04 to force the Americans 14:06 to go to war with their motherland, 14:08 I would have gone to war with them, 14:12 because of the gross injustice. 14:15 Cries from the French across the channel, 14:18 come, come the revolution 14:21 and it came with the bloody guillotine. 14:27 But it didn't come to England. 14:29 Why? 14:30 Because God sent a man whose name was John. 14:34 He was preaching at 4 o'clock in the morning, 14:37 preaching to the miners. 14:39 Children worked in the mines. 14:41 Babies were born in the mines. 14:43 He's turned out of his father's church. 14:46 Forced to preach out of doors. 14:48 He preached the red blood gospel of the Bible. 14:50 God loves you. 14:52 God sent His Son to die for you. 14:54 Come to Him. 14:55 He will change your heart and you will be a new person. 14:58 Plain old-fashioned preaching from the Bible. 15:01 I would suggest today 15:02 almost a forgotten art in the world and in America. 15:07 Today it is mainly hot air and religious hype, 15:11 often mixed with politics, and virtually no Bible at all. 15:16 People seem to think 15:18 they're going to be saved by politics. 15:22 Salvation comes from Christ. 15:25 Did Wesley get great opposition? 15:26 You better believe it. 15:29 He's often beaten up 15:31 or gangs were sent from religious hierarchy. 15:35 He was beaten up, he was bruised and bloodied, 15:38 thrown into the river. 15:39 I've had opposition, 15:41 but I have lived a wonderful life. 15:43 Nobody's beaten me up. 15:44 I've never been thrown into a river 15:46 because I preached the Word of God. 15:49 But Wesley was persecuted. 15:52 He traveled to America and he started a mighty fire. 15:58 He was joined by that firebrand, 16:01 George Whitfield, 16:03 who had been a part of his small group 16:07 when he was at Oxford University. 16:10 What stories you can tell about Whitfield? 16:13 Goodness, 16:15 they started up the Methodist Church, 16:17 what a tremendous church. 16:19 I read an account at once, people looked out, 16:22 and it looked like so the place was on fire. 16:24 What was it? 16:25 It was dust, people riding horses, 16:29 people in chariots, people running. 16:34 Why were they running? 16:35 They were running to hear this man of God, 16:38 George Whitfield. 16:39 When they got into the town square, 16:41 there was a young man, they put him up on a table. 16:44 And he started to preach the Word of God. 16:48 And the Spirit of God bore testimony to the Word of God. 16:52 And people were struck down by the power of the Holy Spirit 16:56 and people were saved. 16:59 That's what we need today in America. 17:04 Not more politics. 17:07 Now back in England, John was preaching vast crowds. 17:12 Oh, well, he must have had a good PA system. 17:15 No, no microphones. 17:18 Thousands, tens of thousands, 17:20 hundreds of thousands were converted. 17:23 On one occasion, 17:25 there were about 20, 000 people sitting on a stone wall. 17:29 As Wesley was preaching under the power of the Spirit, 17:33 the stone wall came down, it came down gently. 17:38 The people remained sitting on the stone wall, 17:40 transfixed by the preaching of this man of God, 17:44 who was filled, filled, I tell you, 17:47 filled with the Holy Spirit of God. 17:49 That's what America needs today. 17:51 We need preachers who will preach the Word of God 17:54 and who will get out of politics, please. 17:57 Why are you prostituting your holy calling? 18:00 People say, "Well, I'm called to get people to vote. 18:03 I'm called to do." 18:05 No, no, no. 18:06 Well, maybe you are. 18:08 But if that's your calling, it's not the calling of God. 18:12 Because the minister of God 18:13 is called to be a minister of God 18:16 and to preach the Word of God. 18:18 He's not called, my friend, to get involved in politics. 18:23 A man came along to hear the Wesley's, John Newton, 18:28 slave ship captain, you know the story. 18:30 He wrote Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound. 18:35 And then he influenced another man, 18:37 another Englishman 18:38 by the name of William Wilberforce. 18:42 And Wilber Wilberforce got into parliament, 18:45 and he was responsible 18:47 for the abolishing of the slave trade, 18:50 long before Abraham Lincoln. 18:52 Why? 18:54 God sent a man, God sent preachers, 18:56 God sent a spiritual revolution, 18:59 God sent a spiritual reformation. 19:02 What are we waiting for? 19:06 Now, let me make this plain. 19:08 A Christian can be involved in politics. 19:11 Of course he can. 19:12 A Christian can be in the Senate, 19:14 or in the Congress, or in the White House. 19:17 But what I'm preaching against today 19:20 is the union of church and state. 19:24 A Christian can be involved in politics 19:27 but the church cannot be. 19:30 It goes against everything 19:32 that the founding fathers of this nation fought for. 19:37 People say, "Oh, no, no, no. 19:39 The founding fathers wanted to have 19:41 the union of church and state." 19:42 I tell you, my friend, 19:44 we're dealing today with massive misinformation. 19:51 Reformation comes not through the union of church and state. 19:55 And there's a great text, Romans 1:14-17. 19:59 This is what we need. 20:00 "I'm a debtor both to Greeks and to barbarians," 20:02 said Paul, 20:04 "both to wise and to unwise." 20:05 Plenty of those. 20:06 "So as much as is in me, 20:08 I'm ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also. 20:14 For I'm not ashamed 20:15 of the gospel of Christ, for it is," 20:17 what does it say? "The power. 20:19 The power of God for salvation, for everyone who believes, 20:22 for the Jew first, and also for the Greek. 20:25 For in it the righteousness of God 20:28 is revealed from faith to faith, 20:30 as it is written, 20:31 'The just shall live by faith.'" 20:35 When it says it's the power of God, 20:37 the Greek word is, 20:38 is the same word for dynamite. 20:41 It's the dunamis. 20:43 Preaching of the gospel of God is the dunamis. 20:46 It is the power of God. 20:49 You still listening to me? 20:53 It's all about Christ. 20:55 It's not about some church organization. 20:57 Somebody said the true church talks about Christ, 20:59 a cult talks about itself. 21:01 We're not here to talk about ourselves. 21:04 It's all about grace. 21:06 It's all about forgiveness. 21:08 It's all about being born again and made into a new person. 21:12 John 1:10, I'm going to read it to you. 21:15 John 1:10, 21:17 "He was in the world, 21:19 and the world was made through him," Christ, 21:22 "and the world did not know Him." 21:23 They don't know Him today. 21:25 "He came to His own," Jewish people, 21:27 "and His own did not receive Him." 21:29 They put him on a cross. 21:30 "But as many as received Him, 21:32 to them He gave the right or the power 21:35 to become children of God, 21:37 to those who believe in His name: 21:39 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, 21:44 nor of the will of man, but born of God." 21:47 What is it talking about, born of God? 21:50 When I'm born the first time, 21:52 I'm born with this sinful, wicked, old nature, 21:55 but when I'm born again, 21:56 God comes into my life, 21:58 and He puts a new power in my life, 22:01 and I become a brand-new person. 22:03 That's what America needs. 22:04 That's how you can make America great again. 22:07 America will be great again, when America is good again, 22:11 and we become good again by the power of God. 22:16 I don't believe in the heresy 22:18 that all are automatically saved 22:20 until they willfully reject. 22:22 That's taught here in Southern California, 22:24 a hotbed of all heresies. 22:27 I believe that all are lost until they willfully accept. 22:31 I believe that when I accept Christ, by faith, 22:35 and then I start to read His Word, 22:38 I become consumed by a new power. 22:44 I've seen it happen. 22:47 I've seen it happen around the world. 22:50 Think of people in Russia, 22:52 the leaders of the mafia over there, 22:57 got to cover up their faces. 23:00 The leaders of the mafia of the Sicilian, Mayag, 23:04 just won't say any more of their names. 23:07 Men who were the leaders of the mafia. 23:12 That they came to God 23:15 and they started to read their Bibles. 23:17 They didn't have a superficial religion, 23:19 like most of us have. 23:22 God came down and got inside them. 23:26 And God changed their lives. 23:27 So politics are not enough. 23:31 Protests are not enough. 23:33 I believe in peaceful protests, not rights. 23:37 Social action is not enough, handouts are not enough. 23:40 Money is not enough. Religion is not enough. 23:43 Talking is not enough. Only Christ is enough. 23:47 We need more than a band aid, we need the balm of Gilead, 23:51 we need Christ. 23:53 Look at the text again, 2 Chronicles Chapter 7. 23:56 This is the theme text. Here it is. 24:00 "When I shut up heaven, there is no rain," 24:03 that's what's happening today, 24:06 "or command the locusts to devour the land," 24:08 that's happening today, 24:10 "or send pestilence among My people," 24:12 that's happening today. 24:13 God blessed it come. 24:15 "My people who are called by My name 24:19 will humble themselves and pray, 24:22 seek my face and turn 24:24 from their wicked ways, 24:26 then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin 24:30 and will heal their land." 24:33 We're talking here 24:35 about our mighty spiritual reformation. 24:39 God is sending us warnings, pestilences, wars, poverty, 24:43 division, 24:44 threats of nuclear war from China, 24:46 Russia and Korea, North Korea, 24:50 but I wanna tell you, folks I opened up my heart to you. 24:54 It is time for spiritual rebirth, 24:57 not for a union of church and state. 25:00 Time for spiritual rebirth 25:02 and may we say it, Lord, let it begin with me. 25:07 Please let it begin with me. 25:10 Let it begin with right here today with me. 25:15 Remember, John Wesley, 25:19 Wilberforce, John Newton. 25:25 Newton wrote the hymn, 25:28 Amazing Grace! 25:29 How sweet the sound 25:31 That saved a wretch like me! 25:33 I once was lost 25:35 but now I'm found Was blind 25:37 but now I see 25:39 'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear 25:43 And grace, my fears relieved 25:45 How precious did that 25:47 grace appear The hour I first believed 25:52 Through many dangers, toils and snares 25:55 I have already come 25:58 'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far 26:00 And grace will lead me home 26:03 The Lord has promised good to me 26:07 His Word my hope secures He will my Shield and Portion 26:10 be As long as life endures 26:13 Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail 26:16 And mortal life shall cease 26:19 I shall possess, 26:20 within the veil A life of joy and peace 26:25 The earth shall soon dissolve like snow 26:29 The sun forbear to shine 26:32 But God, who called me here below Will be forever mine 26:38 When we've been there, 26:39 ten thousand years 26:43 Bright shining as the sun 26:46 We've no less days to sing God's praise 26:52 Than when we'd first began 26:58 Will America survive? 27:02 Greatness is tied up with goodness 27:08 and goodness is found in Christ. 27:13 Lord, let it begin with me. 27:21 To our police, 27:23 to those who serve and protect us 27:25 with mercy, love, dignity, compassion, and honor. 27:31 May God bless you. 27:33 Each day there is no task that is too large, 27:37 no task too small. 27:39 You take the slings and arrows 27:41 that come your way with courage. 27:44 The badge you wear 27:46 makes you part of a bigger team. 27:47 But we know you are each unique in God's eyes. 27:52 You are individual human beings of a police force. 27:56 The greatest force is God's love. 27:59 There is no one 28:01 who has not experienced that love 28:03 when you come to their aid. 28:05 We are grateful. 28:06 We know you need our help. 28:08 Working together, we can live in harmony. 28:11 We pray for the safety of our homes for our neighbors, 28:14 and for the police that protect and serve our community. 28:23 For a copy of today's program, 28:25 please contact us at P.O.
