00:01 I'm John Carter in Moscow.
00:04 In Havana, Cuba. 00:07 Now in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. 00:10 I'm John Carter in Petra. 00:13 Right here in Communist China. 00:16 Reporting from India. 00:18 Hi, I'm John Carter in the Solomon Islands. 00:21 I'm John Carter in Soweto. 00:24 From El Salvador. 00:26 I'm John Carter in Sydney, Australia. 00:29 Genesis, All You Need To Know. 00:32 Now here is John Carter with today's message. 00:39 Hello, friend, I'm John Carter. 00:42 Welcome back. 00:43 We've got a terrific program for you today. 00:46 Genesis, All You Need to Know. 00:50 We've been going through some of the great truths 00:52 that we find in the Book of Genesis. 00:55 And now we're going to talk about the third great truth. 00:58 I'm going to take my Bible and turn over here to Genesis. 01:02 Let me see now. 01:04 Genesis 2:1 down to 3, are you ready? 01:09 Listen to this. 01:11 "Thus the heavens and the earth, 01:12 and all the host of them, were finished." 01:14 So this tells us you came from the hand of God. 01:18 You're not simply the product of blind chance, 01:20 but you came from the hand of God. 01:22 "And on the seventh day, 01:24 God ended His work which He had done. 01:26 And He rested on the seventh day 01:29 from all His work which He had done. 01:31 Then God blessed the seventh day 01:33 and sanctified it, 01:35 because in it He rested from all His work 01:39 which God had created and made." 01:42 So the Bible tells me that 01:44 right at the very beginning of time, 01:46 God gave to the human race, a special gift. 01:50 In our first segment, we spoke about marriage, 01:53 tremendously important gift. 01:55 We spoke about the gift of life. 01:58 But now God gives to the human race, 02:00 this tremendous gift. 02:02 He gives to the human race, the gift of the Sabbath. 02:07 Now the Sabbath is a very, very special thing, 02:10 because the Sabbath signifies the rest that comes from God. 02:14 It is a symbol of the Gospel of Christ. 02:19 Now I've been living here 02:21 in this great United States of America 02:23 for over 35 years. 02:27 I really love this place. 02:29 And once upon a time, 02:30 just about everybody went to church. 02:32 At least, everybody knew somebody who went to church. 02:36 And once upon a time in America, 02:38 the bells would ring out on the weekend. 02:41 It seemed as though the bells were ringing out and saying, 02:45 "Come to church. 02:47 Hey, you've had a tough week, you've been on those freeways, 02:50 come to church, come and worship. 02:52 You've been tied up on Wall Street, 02:54 your mind is just cluttered. 02:56 Well, get rid of the clutter, come and worship, 02:58 come and be blessed. 02:59 You're beat up. 03:01 Now the time is to be blessed. 03:03 Come and find forgiveness because we're all sinners. 03:06 Come and be saved. 03:08 Come and be healed. 03:10 Come and find the grace of God." 03:14 That, of course, 03:16 is what the Sabbath is all about. 03:18 The Sabbath is about, now listen to this, 03:21 the Sabbath is about divine rest 03:25 for human restlessness. 03:27 Have you heard of Karl Barth? 03:30 Well, Karl Barth was perhaps 03:32 the most influential theologian of the 20th century. 03:37 He was the great European philosopher, 03:42 theologian, neo-orthodox. 03:45 He said this statement and this man 03:47 had a profound impression upon the world 03:50 in which he lived. 03:52 He said, "When the holy day, the Sabbath, 03:55 becomes the day of man, 03:57 society and humanity wither away 04:01 and the demons rule." 04:06 Karl Barth said, "If you give up the Sabbath, 04:08 you're just going to give up everything. 04:11 You're going to get away from yourself. 04:13 You're going to get away from God, 04:15 and the demons are going to start to rule." 04:20 The Bible says, 04:22 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy." 04:26 Now people are saying all the time, 04:27 what's happened to America? 04:29 We've got so many problems today in America. 04:33 Could it be that our problems have come about 04:35 because we've forgotten the commandment? 04:38 And this, of course, is the fourth commandment. 04:40 This is found in the Decalogue where Almighty God said, 04:44 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy." 04:51 Now, this is not a statement from some church. 04:53 It's not a sectarian statement. 04:55 It is a statement from Almighty God. 05:00 Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. 05:03 Our topic today is the Book of Genesis 05:07 and all you need to know. 05:09 Here's the next great truth. 05:10 Number four, actually. 05:14 Genesis alone explains 05:18 the human dilemma. 05:20 Now, what am I talking about? 05:23 Listen, my friend, why is there so much hate? 05:27 Why is there so much lust? 05:30 Why is there so much anger in the world? 05:33 Why is there so much fear? 05:36 Why do we have a pandemic of racism around the world? 05:40 Why so much crime? 05:42 Why is it that we have all of these riots 05:45 in our great cities? 05:46 Why violence, why war, 05:50 why inequalities, why in a restlessness? 05:56 No other book explains this, like the Book of Genesis. 06:00 It explains the human dilemma. 06:04 And I want you to notice this text 06:05 out of the Book of Genesis 3:1 06:09 down to 3. 06:12 This takes us back to the very beginning. 06:14 If you want to understand 06:15 what's going on in the world today, 06:17 you need to understand the story. 06:19 "Now the serpent was more cunning 06:22 than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made." 06:26 And the serpent is Satan. 06:28 "And he said to the woman, 'Has God indeed said, 06:31 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?" 06:35 And the woman said to the serpent, 06:37 'We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden, 06:39 but of the fruit of the tree 06:41 which is in the midst of the garden, 06:44 God has said, 'You shall not eat it, 06:46 nor shall you touch it, lest you die.'" 06:53 Now this tells us what happened to the human race. 06:56 God said, "Don't do this." 06:58 But the serpent said, "No, you can do this. 07:02 And it's going to be fine. 07:03 Don't take any notice of God and His Word." 07:06 Then Genesis 3:4-7, "Then the serpent," 07:12 now this Satan disguised as the serpent. 07:16 "The serpent said to the woman, 'You will not surely die. 07:20 For God knows that in the day you eat of it 07:22 your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, 07:27 knowing good and evil.' 07:29 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, 07:33 that it was pleasant to the eyes, 07:35 and a tree desirable to make one wise, 07:39 she took of its fruit and ate. 07:43 She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 07:47 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, 07:51 and they knew that they were naked, 07:55 and they sewed fig leaves together 07:58 and made themselves coverings.'" 08:02 So now here is rebellion against God. 08:05 God says, "Don't do this." 08:06 But they say, "We're smarter than God." 08:09 And the devil says, "If you do this, 08:11 you're going to be so smart. 08:13 You're going to be so wise, you're going to be so wealthy. 08:17 You're going to be so sophisticated. 08:20 And you're going to live forever." 08:22 That's what the devil says, and they disobeyed God. 08:26 And when they disobeyed God, 08:28 something awful insidious happened to them, 08:32 something insidious happened to their souls, 08:35 their souls shriveled up, 08:39 and they became naked and afraid. 08:45 Look at Genesis 3:8-10, 08:51 "And they heard the sound of the Lord God, 08:53 Yahweh Elohim, walking in the garden 08:55 in the cool of the day, 08:57 and Adam and his wife hid themselves 08:59 from the presence of the Lord God 09:01 among the trees of the garden. 09:04 Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, 09:07 'Where are you?' 09:08 So he said, 09:10 'I heard Your voice in the garden, 09:12 and I was afraid because I was naked, 09:18 and I hid myself.'" 09:19 And man has been naked, 09:22 and running, 09:23 and afraid ever since. 09:28 So these very ancient verses 09:32 that describe the encounter 09:35 of our first parents with this sinister force, 09:41 who was called Satan or Satan, 09:46 who was liken to this poisonous snake. 09:51 This describes how it started 09:54 the origin of sin. 09:58 Listen carefully, because of sin, 10:01 Adam and Eve found themselves frightened, 10:05 naked, hiding. 10:07 It is the story of lost humanity. 10:11 Are you listening to me? 10:13 We say, "What's gone wrong with the human race?" 10:16 My friend, the Book of Genesis tells you 10:19 everything that you need to know. 10:22 It is the story of man's rebellion against God. 10:27 That is why we feel naked and afraid, 10:31 and why we are still running. 10:34 Now, I'm going to turn over here 10:35 in the Bible to Romans 5:12. 10:41 Romans 5:12. 10:45 Romans 5:12. 10:51 And these words are written by the great Jewish scholar 10:53 by the name of Paul. 10:55 He says, "Therefore, just as through one man 10:59 sin entered the world, and death through sin, 11:04 and thus death spread to all men, 11:06 because all sinned." 11:12 When our first parents sinned, 11:15 something insidious happened 11:19 to their humanity. 11:22 Death came into the human race. 11:26 God said, "You are going to die." 11:31 And we've been dying ever since. 11:32 We died spiritually and we also die, 11:36 listen to me, we die physically. 11:42 Everything you need to know 11:46 we are born sinners. 11:49 We are born lost. 11:52 Billy Graham was talking to a great American politician 11:56 who explained his grand plan 12:00 to save America. 12:03 What a tremendous picture this is here. 12:07 You got the great evangelist and there in the audience 12:11 you see the great president 12:14 John Kennedy. 12:17 Billy Graham had a profound influence. 12:19 So he was talking to this politician 12:22 with this marvelous plan to save America 12:26 through the Great Society. 12:29 Billy Graham said to him, 12:32 "But sir, what about human nature?" 12:38 And the politician said, "Yes, Dr. Graham, I know. 12:43 That is the weak link in the chain. 12:45 That is the problem." 12:47 I want you to know, my friend. 12:49 The human race is somehow fatally flawed, 12:53 it is because of our sin. 12:57 And if you want to understand it, 12:59 you've got to go back to the Book of Genesis 13:01 to the story of this encounter 13:04 between the serpent and our first parents. 13:10 President, L.B.J, 13:13 President Johnson 1964-65 started 13:18 what he called euphemistically, The Great Society, 13:23 great program to eliminate poverty, 13:25 racial injustice, and to reduce crime. 13:29 It has cost America, think of this, $22,000 billion, 13:35 astronomical $22 trillion enough to give every American 13:39 a gift of $100,000, every American family $400,000. 13:45 But I asked the question, it's an embarrassing question. 13:49 Has the noble plan worked? 13:52 Well, right now some people are saying that 13:54 America is on the edge, 13:56 on the edge of a revolution 13:59 that could be a bloody revolution. 14:02 Has society been transformed 14:05 by LBJ's Great Society? 14:09 I ask you the question, what's wrong with us? 14:12 Why don't we get smart? 14:15 Why don't we go to the book that has the answers, 14:17 not to the politicians who were floundering like you 14:20 and like I am without God. 14:25 Look at the evening news. 14:26 What do you see on the evening news? 14:30 We see riots, buildings, 14:32 burning, people being shot, 14:36 people shooting other people. 14:39 We see poverty, racial unrest. 14:43 We see the rich getting richer 14:45 and the poor getting poorer. 14:49 So I'm saying to you today, we need a new power, 14:52 not a new government program. 14:53 Government programs have largely failed. 14:55 I'm sick of them. 14:57 We need a new driving force, a new energy, a new motivation. 15:01 Human nature frustrates the call 15:04 for the Great Society. 15:05 We need a new power, we need a new rocket within us. 15:10 Let me tell you the story of two nations, 15:13 Britain and France. 15:16 You go back to the days of John Wesley 15:18 back to the 18th century. 15:21 They were both great countries with great problems. 15:26 Poverty, inequality, crime, disease, 15:29 the smell of revolution was in the air. 15:33 England had John Wesley, and John Wesley went out 15:37 and preached his heart out. 15:39 And people came to Christ 15:40 by the hundreds of the thousands. 15:44 England never had a bloody revolution. 15:47 France did. 15:48 France had the guillotine. 15:51 France had all the murders. 15:53 France had all the atrocities. 15:55 Why? 15:56 Because they never had the Gospel of Christ. 15:59 That is why they had the church. 16:01 They had corrupt politicians, they had all that garbage, 16:05 but they never had the voice of the Word of God. 16:09 Now, I want to tell every person 16:10 watching today, especially my American friends. 16:13 It's time for us to stop 16:15 putting our faith in the politicians, 16:19 because you're going to be terribly disillusioned. 16:23 What America needs, my friend, 16:25 is not a new government program, 16:27 what America needs is the Gospel of Christ. 16:32 Are you listening to me? 16:33 Do you believe this? This is the truth. 16:36 The Book of Genesis tells us all we need to know. 16:41 It also predicts the only solution 16:44 to the human dilemma. 16:46 Now I'm going to turn 16:48 to a text here, Genesis 3:14-15. 16:54 It tells us the solution to the human dilemma. 16:58 Genesis 3:14-15, 17:04 "So the Lord God said to the serpent, 17:07 that's Satan: 'Because you have done this, 17:09 you are cursed more than all cattle, 17:11 and more than every beast of the field, 17:15 on your belly you shall go and all, 17:17 and you shall eat dust all the days of your life." 17:20 Now listen to it. 17:22 "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, 17:26 between your seed and her Seed," 17:30 now listen to it, "He shall bruise your head," 17:37 this Seed that's going to come, 17:39 it's going to bruise the head of the serpent, 17:43 he's got to kill him, "And you, serpent, 17:47 shall bruise His heel." 17:50 Which is painful, but it's not a mortal wound. 17:54 This is one of the most amazing prophecies in the Bible, 17:58 all you need to know. 18:01 He is a glimmer of hope for poor Adam and Eve 18:04 bowed down in despair. 18:07 A Seed is coming. 18:10 God says, "A Seed is coming." 18:13 The Seed is going to come, the offspring is going to come, 18:16 it's going to be the Seed of the woman. 18:20 And that Seed is going to crush the serpent's head. 18:26 Gonna kill the serpent. 18:27 And that serpent is going to bruise the Seed. 18:33 But the Seed is going to survive. 18:36 What are we talking about? 18:38 You come over here to Galatians 3:16, 18:43 amazing words from the great Apostle Paul, 18:46 this great Jewish scholar. 18:49 "Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. 18:54 He does not say, 18:55 'And to seeds,' plural, as of many, 19:00 but as of," what does it say? 19:01 "'One, and to your Seed,' who is Christ.'" 19:07 Do you get this? 19:10 The Book of Genesis says, "The Seed is going to come." 19:14 Not the seeds. 19:16 We're not saved by a bunch of people. 19:18 We're not saved by a bunch of preachers, 19:21 or a bunch of politicians, or a bunch of anybody. 19:25 We are saved by not plural, 19:28 singular, the Seed. 19:32 And that Seed is going to come 19:34 and that Seed is going to crush 19:37 the head of the serpent. 19:40 It's talking, of course, about the Messiah, 19:43 fully God fully man. 19:46 Jesus partook of human nature. 19:48 He was a real human being. 19:50 He carried the genes of Mary, 19:55 who carried the genes of Adam, 19:57 Abraham, Joseph, Moses and David, 20:01 our genes also. 20:05 He was the promised Seed. 20:09 Where do you find this? 20:10 You find this in the Book of Genesis. 20:12 It predicts the coming of the promised seed. 20:16 Without the seed, my friend, 20:18 there is no salvation. 20:24 Will you believe it? 20:27 He was the Seed of the woman. 20:28 Maybe He looked like David, was called the son of David, 20:33 even though David lived 1,000 years before. 20:36 He was the Seed of His mother, Mary, 20:40 maybe He looked like Mary. 20:42 Why did He come? 20:44 To redeem the sin of Adam? 20:47 He was the second Adam. 20:50 He would receive a cruel wound, 20:54 but He would crush the serpent's head. 20:57 Hey, that's good news. 21:01 I want to tell you, there is some good news here. 21:04 You think this old world is out of shape? 21:08 This old world is in a mess? 21:11 This old world is in a mess, and there is only one person 21:16 who can save you and me. 21:18 Why are we so tied up with incidentals? 21:21 It is the Seed, 21:23 it is born of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 21:27 the Seed who went to the cross 21:31 to pay for our sins, it is Christ. 21:36 All you need to know, my friend. 21:40 Redemption prefigured and predicted. 21:42 Genesis 3:21 is absolutely an incredible text. 21:47 Genesis 3:21. 21:50 Now give you the context. 21:54 Adam and Eve because they're smarter than God. 21:58 They break God's commandments, they rebelled against God. 22:01 God says, "If you do this, you're going to die." 22:03 No, no. 22:04 The devil says, "You gonna become really smart. 22:06 You gonna become like God. 22:09 You know, you gonna be like God, 22:11 you're going to know good and evil, 22:12 you're going to be elevated, you're going to be superior." 22:16 That's the biggest lie that was ever told. 22:20 But God says, "There's hope for you. 22:23 The woman is going to have a divine Seed 22:27 and the Creator who made the universe. 22:32 Listen to this, the Creator 22:33 who made the universe becomes a man. 22:38 He's the only perfect man this world ever saw. 22:43 He goes to the cross, and He bears our sins. 22:47 And then the Creator God does something. 22:49 It says Genesis 3:21. 22:52 "Also for Adam and his wife, the Lord God," 22:57 Yahweh Elohim, 22:59 "made tunics of skin, and clothed them." 23:03 Are you, hey, with me on this? 23:07 Almighty God has to kill some animals. 23:11 Almighty God, listen to me. 23:16 Let me look in your eyes, Almighty God, Almighty God, 23:20 Yahweh Elohim killed some animals 23:25 in the Garden of Eden. 23:27 This pristine, beautiful place, 23:29 this place that is called paradise. 23:32 So He kills some animals, 23:35 and He gets the skin of those animals. 23:38 And He covers up the nakedness 23:42 of Adam and Eve. 23:48 That's the story of Christ on the cross. 23:52 The Christ, Almighty God in human flesh, 23:58 goes to the cross 24:01 to cover us. 24:05 On the cross, the Seed of the woman 24:08 paid the price of Adam's failure 24:09 with His own blood. 24:11 He is called the second Adam, it's all you need to know. 24:16 So Genesis tells us all we really need to know, 24:20 so we can be decent people. 24:22 Number one, God made the universe, 24:23 He made you. 24:25 You're special. 24:27 Number two, marriage matters. 24:29 It's between a man and a woman. 24:31 Don't be taken in by all this propaganda. 24:35 Number three, 24:36 the Sabbath is a part of God's plan for you. 24:38 You need restoration. 24:40 You need the blessing of the Sabbath 24:44 that represents the gospel. 24:45 Number four. 24:46 Genesis explains what's wrong with the world. 24:49 It is sin, it is our rebellion. 24:51 It is our turning from God. 24:55 Number five, the coming of the woman Seed, 24:59 Christ solves every problem. 25:06 So what's the end result? 25:08 The destruction of the serpent, 25:10 the serpent has his head crushed. 25:14 The triumph of Christ and those who trust in Christ. 25:19 Revelation 7:9, you can't do it by yourself. 25:24 You can't do it through human philosophy or politics, 25:29 or any of those substitutes. 25:32 I am amazed that people who think they're Christians 25:35 are so caught up in politics, 25:37 they've forgotten all about God's Word. 25:40 Look at the outcome. 25:42 Revelation 7:9, "After these things," 25:46 and today we started on the first book, 25:48 now we finished on the last book. 25:50 "After these things I looked and behold, a great multitude 25:55 which no one could number," room for you, "of all nations," 26:00 hey, all colors. 26:02 Racism is so evil, 26:05 "of all nations, tribes, peoples, 26:07 and tongues, standing before the throne, 26:11 and before the Lamb," 26:13 that's the Seed, the divine Seed. 26:17 The Lamb had to be killed so we could be clothed, 26:21 "clothed with white robes, 26:24 with palm branches in their hands." 26:28 That's the outcome. 26:31 Will you think about it, my friend, please? 26:34 I beseech you. 26:37 The Lamb has to be slain. 26:42 The Seed comes, 26:44 the Seed dies on the cross 26:49 to save us from the overwhelming disease, 26:54 the pandemic of evil 26:57 that is ravaging the world today. 27:00 Maybe your life too. 27:04 So what should we do? 27:08 Well, believe these great truths. 27:13 God made you, you're special. 27:16 He loves you. 27:17 God made marriage between a man and a woman. 27:21 It's all wonderful. 27:23 God gave us the Sabbath, so we can be restored. 27:28 The Bible teaches, God did more than this. 27:33 He sent Christ, the Seed, 27:37 who died for our sins, 27:40 to take away our sins which are destroying us. 27:45 Therefore, my friend, 27:48 please start to read your Bible. 27:50 Is that asking too much? 27:53 Read your Bible. 27:55 Trust in Christ. 27:57 Christ died for you. 27:59 He wants you in heaven. 28:00 There's room for you, my friend, a great multitude. 28:05 You can be there. 28:10 Believe in the God 28:15 who believes in you. 28:18 Amen. 28:24 For a copy of today's program, please contact us 28:27 at P.O.
