00:02 I'm John Carter in Moscow.
00:04 In Havana, Cuba. 00:07 Now in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. 00:10 I'm John Carter in Petra. 00:13 Right here in Communist China. 00:16 Reporting from India. 00:18 Hi, I'm John Carter in the Solomon Islands. 00:21 I'm John Carter in Soweto. 00:24 From El Salvador. 00:26 I'm John Carter in Sydney, Australia. 00:29 In this program, John Carter proclaims, 00:32 nothing shall be impossible for you. 00:37 Hello, friend. I'm John Carter. 00:40 Welcome to our magnificent audience 00:42 around the world. 00:43 We're so glad that you joined us today. 00:46 Because we've got a terrific program for you. 00:50 The theme of the program is this. 00:52 Nothing shall be impossible for you. 00:57 I want you to think about that, 00:59 nothing shall be impossible for you. 01:01 I want to tell you a story from El Salvador, 01:05 personally told to me 01:06 when I was visiting that tragic country. 01:10 You know why so many folks are leaving El Salvador, 01:12 don't you? 01:13 You know why they're leaving Central America. 01:15 It's because of the horrendous crime, 01:18 the gangs, the murders. 01:22 And El Salvador sort of is at the top of the list 01:24 for crime and violence. 01:28 When I was there, 01:29 we ran a series of meetings and we were safe, 01:32 everything was okay. 01:33 But since then, one of my colleagues 01:36 whose name is, 01:37 I'm going to tell it to you 01:39 because I don't want you to forget it. 01:41 His name is Nelson, Nelson Tiano. 01:46 He went down to a place 01:47 that was completely drug infested. 01:50 When he got down to that place, 01:53 he wanted to visit a church member 01:54 who was very, very sick. 01:56 He thought this church member was going to die. 01:59 But suddenly, he was surrounded by a gang of killers. 02:04 And they got him out of the car. 02:07 And there was this diminutive figure clutching 02:11 a Bible under his arm. 02:13 And the gang leader said to him, 02:15 "Who are you?" 02:16 He said, "I'm a pastor. 02:17 I'm going to visit one of my church members." 02:19 He said, "What do you got there?" 02:21 He said, "I've got a copy of the Bible. 02:24 I'm taking it to read it to her." 02:26 The gang leader said, "We are out gunned here today." 02:30 He said to his men, "We're out gunned. 02:32 This man has got the great power of God. 02:35 We've only got these machine guns, 02:37 but he's got the great power of God. 02:40 We are outgunned." 02:42 Want to tell you, folk, something today, 02:43 I don't want you to ever forget it. 02:46 By the grace of God, 02:47 the powers of darkness 02:50 are outgunned by the Word of God, 02:53 and by the preaching of the Word of God. 02:56 And Jesus said, 02:57 "Nothing is going to be impossible unto you." 03:01 That's the topic. 03:03 We've got a theme text. It's Matthew 17:20. 03:08 Going to put this up and I want you to see it. 03:10 Matthew 17 and here it is verse 20. 03:14 "Jesus said, 03:15 "If you've got faith as small as a mustard seed..." 03:19 That's only a tiny little thing. 03:21 "If you've got faith as small as a mustard seed, 03:25 you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there, ' 03:29 and it will move." 03:31 Now notice, 03:32 "Nothing will be impossible for you." 03:36 Say it over and over and over again 03:40 until it sinks down 03:42 into the molecules of your mind. 03:45 I want you to know this. 03:46 The power of darkness 03:48 is outgunned by the power of God. 03:53 Get it my, friend, believe it. 03:54 Say it over and over again. 03:56 Nothing shall be impossible to me 03:59 if I've got faith like a mustard seed. 04:03 Now, the presentation today falls into three parts. 04:06 It's pretty simple. 04:08 Yesterday, today and tomorrow. 04:14 And so we're going to start right now with yesterday. 04:20 We've got nothing to fear for the future 04:22 said a great American writer, 04:23 "We've got nothing to fear for the future, 04:27 except we forget the way 04:29 the Lord has led us in the past." 04:33 Nothing to fear for the future, 04:35 except we forget the way 04:37 the Lord has led us in the past. 04:41 That is the truth. 04:42 And that's why we say 04:44 nothing shall be impossible unto you. 04:48 Jesus also said these words, these are great words. 04:52 In John 11:40, He said these words. 04:56 I want you think of this, He said, 04:58 "Did I not tell you that if you believe you 05:01 will see the glory of God." 05:04 You know what our big problem is? 05:05 We really don't believe, do we? 05:07 Jesus said, "If you believe, you will see the glory of God." 05:13 I urge you today to believe, 05:16 because you will see the glory of God. 05:20 This special program is dedicated 05:23 not only to the glory of God, 05:26 it is dedicated to the greater glory of God. 05:30 It's not about us. 05:33 It's all about Him. 05:34 And it's dedicated to the greater glory of God. 05:38 So we're talking today about yesterday. 05:42 In 1976, it's a long time ago, three young men brainstormed. 05:49 It's in a little town in Australia, 05:51 in South, New South Wales. 05:54 Figure that out. 05:56 It's a little town by the name of Albury. 05:58 It's not that little, I thought it was a big town. 06:01 And these young men were asking the question, 06:03 they were probing the question, 06:06 how can the church reach secular people 06:09 because basically, my friend, 06:11 this is may not be something that people want to hear. 06:14 But basically, the church today is not reaching secular people. 06:19 On the whole, the church is preaching to the choir. 06:23 They love committee meetings, 06:25 and they love getting in a holy huddle 06:28 and reaffirming themselves. 06:31 But these young men were audacious enough 06:33 to ask the question, 06:35 how can the church reach secular people? 06:38 And they believe that God gave them an answer. 06:41 Create amazing TV ads about life, destiny, God, 06:47 unseen forces, wonders of ancient people, 06:52 mysteries of the universe, prophecy, 06:56 and put those ads on primetime television. 06:59 Hey, you gonna pay for it? 07:01 Well, nothing shall be impossible. 07:03 Those young men believed that if they had faith 07:05 as small as a mustard seed, miracles would happen. 07:11 And what was the result? 07:14 Well, the result 07:16 was that the magnificent Sydney Opera House 07:19 was packed six times for the opening session. 07:24 And the sessions continued every weekend 07:27 for more than five months. 07:29 I want you to know this 07:31 because today we live in the church 07:33 in a time of great skepticism. 07:35 I meet the skeptics all the time, 07:37 and they say, hey, it can't be done. 07:39 If it can't be done, 07:41 it's because we don't even have faith 07:42 like a mustard seed. 07:44 That's the problem. 07:45 The problem is not with the power of God. 07:47 The problem is with our unbelieving hearts, 07:51 because Jesus said, "Nothing shall be impossible." 07:56 I know this happened because I was there. 08:00 Let me say this to every person watching today, 08:03 those who pride themselves on being members of the church. 08:07 God wants us to think 08:09 outside the box of religious orthodoxy. 08:12 Is anybody listening? 08:14 He wants us to think outside the box 08:17 of churchiness and tradition. 08:20 Remember, nothing shall be impossible. 08:23 Say it over and over again until you start to believe it. 08:28 God is great. 08:29 God loves us. 08:31 God loves people. 08:32 God does impossible things. 08:35 Plus, God has a destiny for my life. 08:37 You believe that? 08:39 A lot of people just think 08:41 they're a bit like something nothing, 08:43 bit of flotsam on the ocean. 08:46 But I believe that God has got a purpose for every life. 08:50 It's a great text, John 18:37. 08:54 This is one of the great texts in the Bible. 08:57 John 18:37. 09:01 And these are the words of Christ, 09:05 He said, 09:07 "For this cause I was born... 09:15 and for this cause I have come into the world, 09:18 that I should bear witness to the truth." 09:21 We know this applies to Christ, especially to Christ, 09:28 specifically to Christ. 09:29 But listen to me. 09:32 In a secondary sense, 09:33 it applies to every person who is a child of God. 09:38 For this hour, I was born and for this reason, 09:41 I came into the world. 09:43 God has got a purpose and a destiny for every person 09:48 and I have felt the hand of God upon me. 09:50 I say, to the greater glory of God, 09:53 I want you to come now to 1990. 09:56 Hey, that's a long time ago. 09:59 Those days my hair was of different color. 10:03 And I think I had more energy. 10:05 And I think I had a little more zoom and voom. 10:09 We hired the Shrine Auditorium, downtown Los Angeles. 10:13 24,000 packed it in for opening sessions. 10:18 In spite of the traffic 10:20 for which Los Angeles is famous, 10:23 24,000 people packed it in multiple sessions. 10:29 And then the meetings went on for a long period of time. 10:33 And from those meetings in the great Shrine Auditorium, 10:37 where they used to hold the Academy Awards, 10:40 a new church was born. 10:44 You listening to me, a new church was born. 10:47 The Shrine meetings were a part of the plan of God. 10:51 It was in God's destiny. 10:54 And the birth of that church was in the plan 10:57 and the destiny of God for this hour was I born, 11:00 Jesus said. 11:03 God had a plan for that church, 11:05 and He's got a plan for you if you will open your heart 11:08 and if you'll listen to God. 11:11 Now, here is a great truth. 11:13 It is an unpalatable truth sometimes. 11:15 Sometimes we have to be hurt before we can be healed. 11:19 When man closes a door, God opened a window, 11:24 and the door seemed to close 11:26 in the great city of Los Angeles. 11:30 But God opened a tremendous store into a place 11:34 that Ronald Reagan had called the evil empire. 11:41 And we're talking about the Soviet Union, 11:45 the great center of atheism. 11:49 Did you know this? 11:51 During the 70 years, 11:53 when the atheist communists had ruled Russia and Ukraine, 11:58 tens of millions of people 12:01 had been killed in the death camps. 12:03 I have been to those places. 12:06 I have been to those places, 12:08 I have explored those places 12:11 where tens of million, 12:13 some say 70 million people 12:16 were murdered by the communists and the atheists 12:18 and you're going to tell me, 12:20 it doesn't matter what you believe. 12:21 I want you to know this. 12:22 What you believe shapes your life. 12:25 If you believe in God, God will shape your life. 12:29 But if you don't believe in God, 12:32 nothing is going to really shape your life 12:34 except your atheistic beliefs. 12:38 There was a great cry for help. 12:40 And by the grace of God, we heard the cry. 12:43 In the providence of God, we heard the cry. 12:46 This is not about us, it's all about Him. 12:49 Let me tell you, of the power of God, 12:52 I want you to sit back, I want you to listen. 12:54 Because in my ministry, I've met so many, many skeptics 12:58 and unbelievers in the church. 13:03 I've met them where they say it can't be done. 13:05 It's absolutely impossible they say, 13:08 it can't be done. 13:10 That's because they don't have faith 13:12 even as small as a mustard seed. 13:14 But if we have faith as small as a mustard seed, 13:17 nothing will be impossible. 13:21 Now listen up. 13:22 Moscow 1991, we were called to go to Moscow. 13:27 Remember, with God, nothing shall be impossible, 13:30 say it over and over again. 13:31 When I went there, I felt a sense of destiny. 13:34 Romans Chapter 8 is a great text. 13:37 Romans Chapter 8, 13:38 written by the great Apostle Paul 13:41 tells us that God has a purpose. 13:44 We are called according to His purpose. 13:47 I want you to listen to me. 13:49 God has got a purpose for your life. 13:52 He's got a purpose for my life. 13:54 When you're sitting here today, 13:56 and you're listening on this television channel, 13:59 I want you to know you're not alone. 14:00 God loves you. 14:02 He's got a purpose for your life. 14:06 When we went there, we felt the hand of God, 14:09 we hired the Palace of Culture, 14:11 just down the road from the Kremlin. 14:15 Amazing things happen. 14:16 I was invited to speak on Soviet television. 14:21 This man was in charge of Good Evening Moscow. 14:25 Can you believe this? 14:27 I remember him so very, very well. 14:32 He asked me questions like this. 14:34 Why is the Soviet Union collapsing? 14:37 Who is God? Is there a God? 14:40 I had, this is the truth of God. 14:42 I had the privilege at the very center 14:44 of the evil empire to quote President Reagan. 14:48 I had the privilege 14:49 of getting the television crew together 14:52 on the Soviet set, 14:53 and talking to them about God 14:56 and reading to them from the Word of God 14:58 and they were outgunned, 15:00 because we had the power of God. 15:02 They had tanks, they had military weapons, 15:05 but we had the power of God. 15:07 I'll never forget the crowds. 15:08 Meetings would start at 10 o'clock in the morning. 15:11 They would go all day without a break 15:13 except for water and food, 15:15 until 10 or 11 o'clock at night, 15:17 amazing meetings. 15:20 Many officers from the Russian army came. 15:23 I was asked to talk to all types of people, 15:27 even people from the KGB more about this later. 15:32 Asked to talk to the professors from Moscow University. 15:36 Talking to so many people, 15:40 people who did not believe. 15:44 I remember I call it the great silence. 15:47 This is an old picture of this historic event. 15:50 I was preaching there with my translator, 15:52 and I was preaching my heart out. 15:55 Did I have energy? Yes, 12 hours of preaching. 15:57 Yes, I had energy. Why? 15:59 Because with God, nothing shall be impossible. 16:01 What's wrong with our faith today? 16:05 I can remember when I was preaching 16:07 that my translator suddenly went silent. 16:10 And I wondered what was going on. 16:11 I kept on preaching. 16:13 And then I looked over to him, 16:14 I saw that he was weeping copiously. 16:18 And then I gazed into the faces of the great audience, 16:21 every person was crying. 16:23 You know why? 16:25 I was telling them the story of Christ 16:27 that never heard it before, and they were weeping. 16:30 I had an article, people say, 16:31 "Oh, that stuff doesn't work." 16:33 But it doesn't work if you don't work with it, 16:34 my friend. 16:36 If you don't put your life in the hands of God, 16:37 of course, it's not going to work. 16:40 People say, "We don't see miracles anymore." 16:43 That's not because of God, that's because of us. 16:45 Nothing shall be impossible Jesus said. 16:48 I made an altar call 16:50 and members of the army officers, 16:52 I remember one Soviet Captain stood up 16:55 and saluted and marched his soldiers, 16:58 they came down the front, 16:59 they came down the front weeping, 17:03 because of the power of God. 17:05 I want you to know, this is not about us. 17:08 It is about Him. 17:10 We hired, we booked the Great Hall of Congresses 17:14 in the Kremlin, 17:17 one of the greatest theaters in the world. 17:20 We paid the deposit, 17:22 we're not going to go into this, 17:23 but it was secretly stolen from us. 17:26 But we believe that we must forgive 17:27 those who sin against us. 17:30 But when man closes a door, 17:33 God opens a window and a better window. 17:36 And we were told go to Gorky and we went to Gorky, 17:41 the city of the dissidents, and we went there. 17:44 Listen, because God had a bigger and a better plan. 17:50 And when people stand in the way of God, 17:54 God can move them aside. 17:58 And He can do bigger things. 17:59 Now, what was our message? 18:01 What did we preach 18:02 when we went to Russia, Ukraine? 18:04 Let me tell you, God made you. 18:07 These people had been told 18:09 that we're simply animals or machines. 18:11 So I cried out to the great masters. 18:14 God made you. 18:16 God loves you. 18:18 You are special. 18:20 When you walk out of this meeting today, 18:22 you can walk out with your head high, 18:25 because you're a child of God. 18:27 You're not a son of the slime, God made you. 18:32 And God became a man and the person of Christ 18:36 and Christ on the cross died for your sins. 18:39 Can you believe this? 18:42 No wonder the great masses of Russians wept, 18:46 because they were hearing the true gospel of God. 18:49 You are special. 18:51 God made you. 18:53 He has a purpose for you. 18:54 And if you come to Him and truly believe in Him, 18:57 He will give you right now everlasting life. 19:02 So we didn't preach some radical idea, 19:07 like the prosperity gospel, 19:09 that God just wants you to become prosperous, 19:11 and very wealthy, 19:13 and the biggest house in the street. 19:15 No, we said, God loves you, Christ died for you. 19:18 And even in your poverty, God has a plan for you. 19:22 And He's got a great future for you. 19:25 I want you to know this. 19:27 The gospel is the power of God unto salvation. 19:30 Explain this to me, my skeptical friend. 19:34 Are you listening? Explain this to me. 19:37 There can be an audience of thousands of people. 19:40 10,000 people at 6 o'clock, they won't even look at me. 19:44 They're looking down, they're sullen, 19:46 they're depressed. 19:47 Of course, they're depressed. 19:49 If you don't believe in God, you're going to be depressed 19:50 and suicidal. 19:52 And by 7 o'clock 19:54 after the gospel of Christ has been preached, 19:56 you've got 10,000 people raising their hands to God 20:00 and weeping as they accept Christ. 20:03 What do you say about that? 20:05 I can tell you what it is. 20:07 It is the power of God unto salvation. 20:10 I want you to believe in the God who believes in you. 20:16 And so we say today, that every person hear this, 20:19 to God be the glory. 20:22 Great things He has done. 20:24 When we start to think that we're the ones 20:26 and the power's going to go. 20:29 But I want you to know today, 20:30 I want this to sink down into your heads 20:32 into the molecules of your mind, 20:35 to God be the glory. 20:37 So 1992 we went to Gorky. 20:44 Danny Shelton. 20:46 God bless him, 20:47 helped us to raise the budget because we had no money. 20:51 But our friends and supporters on 3ABN 20:54 heard the call of God and they sent their checks. 21:01 And so we went to Gorky. 21:03 It was amazing. 21:05 We had such huge crowds in the Palace of Sport. 21:09 The crowds were so great in the Palace of Sport, 21:13 that when I got down there 21:15 and tried to get there with Beverley, 21:17 we couldn't get there 21:19 because the crowds were so great. 21:21 They were breaking down the doors. 21:22 People say, "We don't believe any of this." 21:24 When I came back to America and went to Australia, 21:26 they said, "We don't believe any of this." 21:28 This is because they are living in a spiritual wasteland 21:32 where they've never felt the power of God, 21:34 what about you? 21:36 But the power of God is available. 21:38 So Russian army took us in a military vehicle. 21:43 Russian army now working for us. 21:46 An old man is standing outside he's crying, 21:48 "I've waited 70 years for Jesus, let me in." 21:54 The power of God. 21:56 We didn't have any deacons. 21:58 You know who supplied us with deacons? 22:00 Hey, you're going to find this hard to believe, the KGB. 22:03 You say, "I don't believe it." Yeah, the KGB. 22:07 They asked me to preach to them on two occasions. 22:09 I preached to thousands of members 22:11 of the KGB 22:13 and given to them like General Vadima here, 22:16 my friend, a copy of the Word of God, 22:19 nothing shall be impossible. 22:22 We saw the power of God. 22:25 We had fire bombs also. 22:29 Big religious organization tried to burn us out. 22:33 And Governor Nemtsov who became our friend, 22:36 he sent the militia and the militia came 22:40 and looked after us and protected us and saved us. 22:44 The young governor of Nizhny Novgorod, 22:48 we had multiple sessions. 22:49 We would have up to 10,000 people 22:52 in an altar call, 22:53 people with their hands up crying out for God. 22:56 You say, "That's roar emotionalism." 22:59 No, it's not.
