00:01 Hi, I'm C.A. Murray.
00:03 And this is Free Indeed, a different kind of ministry. 00:07 The men and women that you will meet 00:09 in this particular program 00:10 have found Jesus in very trying circumstances. 00:14 They're gonna tell you their story, 00:16 their own personal journey of their walk of faith. 00:20 We haven't changed their music, 00:22 and we haven't changed their words, 00:23 because it's their personal testimony. 00:26 It's their walk of faith with Jesus Christ. 00:29 You will find, as they have found 00:31 that in Jesus you can indeed be Free Indeed. 00:54 There is something about that sound, 00:56 it's very final, very frightening. 00:59 Today, we're at the Putnamville Correctional Facility. 01:02 You're going to meet two very unique individuals. 01:06 First Lorenzo, he's been in 20 plus years 01:09 and yet he's still has a love for life 01:13 and a love for Jesus. 01:14 He wrote a song that we're gonna hear today 01:16 called "Keep on Pressing." 01:18 Then we're gonna meet the irrepressible Tyrone, 01:21 spend some time in prison with Lamuel. 01:25 Lamuel is out, Tyrone is still there. 01:27 Yet he's got a very strong, very powerful, 01:30 very pertinent message for you this day on Free Indeed. 01:35 Our next speaker is Mr. Lorenzo Reid, 01:37 and we are in a prison in Central Indiana, 01:40 and you have been 20 years in prison 01:43 for something that you say that you did not do, 01:46 but there is freedom indeed 01:47 and I pray for one day the gates will be open for you. 01:50 What would you share with people in the world they think 01:52 that all this glitter is really worth holding onto 01:55 giving their young lives to come to places like this? 01:59 You're correct. I am-- 02:00 I have been in course already for 20 years 02:02 for crime I didn't commit. 02:04 But basically is I think what happened is all the things 02:10 that I thought that I got away with, you know, 02:13 I'm a former drug dealer, you know, 02:17 at age of 14, I went out 02:19 and started selling drugs to support myself 02:24 and try to enhance my music career. 02:28 Basically selling drugs became a habit to me, amen. 02:34 Just it became a habit just like a habit 02:36 form just like I got addicted 02:38 to it just like a person get addicted to using drugs. 02:43 All of the, I got addicted 02:45 to like the materialistic things 02:47 and I thought that it'll make me happy. 02:50 It didn't make me happy, 02:51 in fact it made me depressed, amen. 02:56 But, you know, the thing about it is-- 03:00 materialistic things really can't make nobody happy 03:02 you know, I said, I just want to let you know 03:03 that and you know, when I finally got 03:06 of course they raided for selling drugs or whatever, 03:12 they placed this murder on me that, 03:15 I didn't know, I didn't know anything about, 03:17 I don't know anything about it now, 03:20 hopefully soon I will be vindicated. 03:22 But that's you know, 03:23 what got me through all of these, 03:25 all these, these, these 20 years 03:27 I've been you know, waking up everyday, 03:29 knowing that I'm innocent. 03:31 What got me through it is God. 03:33 I'm gonna keep real with you -- 03:35 I'm no good, I'm not gonna come up here 03:37 and act as if I'm holy savior, or I'm saved, you know, 03:40 I'm just, I'm just, you know, 03:42 I wasn't an angel out there. 03:43 You know, but God is good, 03:46 I can say that God is good. 03:47 He is good and He has got me through this. 03:51 That's the only way I got through it-- 03:52 is with God, you know, praise. 04:04 There are those who feel not, not there 04:09 Many times disrespected, don't be discouraged 04:17 Keep on pressing 04:23 Even when the sky is gray 04:28 And I'm looking for a sunny day 04:33 I've made up my mind to keep on pressing 04:39 Help me out Pressing 04:43 Keep on pressing Pressing 04:48 And I know what's going on Pressing 04:52 You got to keep moving 04:55 Pressing on Moving on Pressing on, pressing 05:02 No, about to fill in time Pressing 05:06 No one to call on Pressing 05:11 You got to believe Pressing on, pressing on 05:19 It's now the love once that's true loves 05:24 Didn't get the chance to save but you see him again 05:31 Keep on pressing 05:37 I have been to many storms 05:42 Nothing that can hold me down 05:46 No need to worry 05:50 Keep on pressing 05:55 Pressing 05:56 God want to see me and to be free 05:59 Pressing Trying to get the best of me 06:04 Pressing, I'm only human when I got the strong 06:09 Pressing on, Pressing on Pressing 06:15 Why sing when no one heard Pressing 06:19 Keep must spirits up Pressing 06:23 I got so far to go 06:26 Pressing no one praise the lord 06:31 Keep on Keep on, keep on, 06:34 keep on, You can't move it Pressing 06:40 Keep on, keep on, keep on Pressing 06:44 Pressing us Pressing on 06:49 Keep on, keep on, keep on 06:51 When you really get to go on through 06:52 some hard time you think about, 06:54 think about what I've gone through. 06:56 And if I can give a smile, 06:57 I could still smile after 20 years of being in course 07:00 and waiting for some I didn't do, 07:02 I can walk around here 07:04 and still respect those who disrespect me, amen. 07:07 You know, when I still, you know, 07:08 I could still have a smile on my face and still, 07:11 you know, give a smile when it's needed 07:13 those who out there that's going through some, 07:15 they could smile and they can you know, 07:17 you have that's a power of God. 07:18 Thank you Lourenzo. 07:19 God bless you, 07:21 Pressing on, pressing. 07:32 Then our next speaker is going to speak truth. 07:37 He's gonna speak saying that it is fools goal. 07:42 The prison ain't a cakewalk, 07:45 Tyron, would you come up here, please? 07:51 Now I want you to know that Tyron and I, 07:54 we go like, 07:57 way back, way back to the old school. 08:03 And we've been down this journey 08:06 but God through His providence I was allowed to go home. 08:11 But Tyron wouldn't 08:13 and he spent many, many years in a penitentiary. 08:17 Tyron, you know, on this journey 08:19 there is a lot of people out there in society 08:21 they think oh, I know, 08:22 I'm won't get caught but prison like nothing, 08:25 it ain't not you know, big deal, 08:27 what would you share with them people in the neighborhood, 08:30 they still skipping and hopping thinking 08:31 it its like no deal up in here. 08:33 I thought the same way, you did. 08:35 I didn't think the consequence, 08:36 didn't think about consequence. 08:38 At what age did this drama begin to start and fester you like-- 08:42 Seventeen, and then what happened at 17. 08:44 Seventeen I was, I was given 50 years. 08:47 Fifty years for what? 08:49 Fifty years for murder. 08:50 Fifty years for murder. 08:51 And what happens when you go up 08:52 in a joint at the 17 year old, 08:55 50 years 'cause you was re cool on the street with that pistol. 08:57 I was cool going to in the back gate of Michigan City. 09:00 Here my two tone date in Stacy Adams clothes on, 09:03 have a Sergio Valente jeans on, 09:06 I'm saying it bad deal we worn them kind of tight, 09:09 but I didn't take and none of it. 09:10 Yeah, I didn't take nothing of it. 09:13 And what about the shoes, were they little tall. 09:15 There was long. 09:16 There was long and I went to the back gate 09:18 and I go down Main Street of Michigan City. 09:22 I thought I was super fly. 09:24 And then I heard. Amen, amen. 09:29 I'm gonna can't do whistling at me, 09:32 they can't be whistling at me, yeah. 09:34 But there was whistling at all of us, amen. 09:36 Didn't care, didn't care who he was, 09:39 what we represented, how two off he was. 09:44 Not me and a few these guys 09:46 right here right now can remember. 09:49 You can remember the riots, 09:51 the every other day somebody getting stabbed, 09:55 somebody working on a chase it, 09:56 it makes saving your life. 09:59 Oh, topper you going out like this. 10:01 On topper you when I first went into Michigan City 10:04 I want to wreck that next day. 10:07 And a brother that came here 10:08 wouldn't use to talk cash when we come here. 10:11 He said man they've been nothing none to me. 10:14 I'm gonna kill me or somebody. 10:16 I was out there watching away, I'm a watching T.V out away. 10:20 And I heard some scream, the shot was right here. 10:24 He screamed, and screamed 10:26 and I'm saying here listen the police here, 10:29 I know it because I hear, amen. 10:31 And when he come up first two guys came out. 10:34 And then when he come out I knew what it happened, 10:38 they had raped it, and I had made up 10:40 my mind then that look here, 10:43 there are some tougher guys in the penitentiary than me. 10:45 I was chained down 10:47 after I went through my little thing, 10:49 I said, I'll be tough, 10:50 I got to fight I'll be tough, but it don't work. 10:54 You loose time, you loose years, 10:57 I went two to three superintendents 10:59 before I got off locker, 11:01 I was on strip cell naked, sprayed with maize, 11:06 beat down they had sticks now like this at Pilkington, 11:10 sticks like this they called them walking tall sticks. 11:13 You've seen the movie, well those sticks exist. 11:17 And they will whip you like wet rugs. 11:20 Have respect for yourself, 11:23 because if you don't have respect for yourself, 11:26 nobody will. 11:28 Now Tyrone let me ask you a question, 11:31 you, your life is different today, different. 11:35 And today it ain't about the gangs 11:37 and it ain't about the drugs, 11:39 you've lost hundreds of thousands of dollars, yes. 11:43 You had a second chance on the street, right. 11:46 What would you share with the young people 11:47 out there today facing 11:49 that peer pressure of that drama? 11:51 That peer pressure when they come to you 11:53 and tell you manage to do lie or let's rob a bank, 11:57 I had all these happen to me 11:58 when I got out 98 after 17 year. 12:01 I did a lot and then it lay to a primo 12:04 and then it lay to a pie 12:05 and then it lay to a 250000 house been smoked up 12:08 with the car like Escalade 2. I'll say, 12:11 give it to Jesus right away, give it to God. 12:14 How do you do that? 12:15 You give it to Him, you surrender, 12:17 God don't chase, He's chasing you now, amen. 12:20 He's chasing you like the police chase you. 12:22 He wants you, I want to be needed 12:24 and I needed to be wanted out down the street. 12:26 So I did everything that I could 12:28 but God was already there, not that He remove. 12:33 How did that change happened in your life, 12:35 so you had a second chance after 17 years 12:38 and then things went wrong 12:40 and you found yourself in the county jail. 12:42 Facing a 112 years for forgery and fraud 12:45 and I was talking to my mother on the phone 12:47 who can't read or write, but she is so gifted 12:49 because God blessed her with a tongue, 12:51 God blessed her with the vocabulary to speak to him 12:55 when she pray she spoke you, she spoke you, 12:58 she actually will spoke you 12:59 and when she told me on the phone, 13:01 she said Tyrone, 13:02 God wants to you to hang this phone up right now 13:04 I'm talking to her on a phone in the county jail click. 13:08 She said hang it up right now, 13:09 go up to your cell get on your knees 13:11 and ask for forgiveness. 13:13 I said, right now momma I don't want to let it go. 13:16 Right now she said, now Tyrone now. 13:18 And I hung the phone up, 13:20 went upstairs and I start praying. 13:22 Honestly I've start praying and then it became sincere, 13:25 then snaps start coming out of my nose, 13:27 then I cover myself with the horse blanket 13:29 that they give it, for a blanket. 13:31 I cover myself up and I just shook and cry 13:33 and I said God please forgive me, 13:35 just please forgive me. 13:36 Three weeks later, 13:38 I thought I had a death in a family, 13:40 they say Tyrone your attorney is down here, 13:42 he need to see you, this is 2 o'clock in the morning, 13:44 you don't get calls like this. 13:45 And I went down there and he say, 13:47 Tyrone, he say, 13:49 if I can get you out this morning, 13:50 can you stay out of trouble, I said what? 13:54 He said if I can get you out this morning, 13:55 can you stay out of trouble? 13:56 I said, yes, I could stay out of trouble I sure can. 14:00 And God drop all charges, 14:03 all forgery charges, all fraud charges, 14:06 released me He is the key, He is the master key. 14:11 And I say, if you're in trouble 14:13 use that key to get through doors, 14:15 to get through anything. 14:16 When I'm fallen off my square here, 14:19 I call Lonny, and I will say, 14:22 I am a good guy at heart, I was a bad guy back 14:25 then because I was protecting myself. 14:28 But I am a good guy now, you all see me around here, 14:30 I'm a comedian, I love to laugh, amen. 14:33 Stress is number one, 14:34 laughter is a number one reliever of stress for me. 14:37 Now speak about half stepping with God. 14:40 If you half step with God, if you half step with God, 14:43 he's is gonna get you, devil go and get you 14:45 if you're take eyes off him 14:47 and don't give it to him everyday, amen. 14:49 You gonna sink like Peter did, you're gonna sink, 14:51 you got to keep the faith everyday. 14:53 Everyday, Tyrone, thank you so very, very much, 14:56 God bless you. Thank you, all right. 15:02 I pastured in New York City for 30 years, 15:05 right in the heart of Harlem, 15:07 preached a 117 funerals in a five year period, 15:12 that's about one funeral every 18 days. 15:15 And every time I saw a grieving family 15:19 I wondered if that person had given their heart to the Lord, 15:24 because it doesn't make any sense to sit here 15:27 and sing and clap and pray and feel good. 15:33 And then at judgment time not be right with Jesus. 15:38 So that's why 3ABN has partnered with Christmas 15:40 Behind Bars to, to bring you Free Indeed 15:44 and to take it around the world, 15:46 because we truly believe in the words of John 8:36, 15:50 "If therefore the Son shall make you free, 15:53 you shall be free indeed". 15:57 I'm reading just a couple of verses 15:58 Matthew Chapter 10, 15:59 rather Mark Chapter 10 verses 17 through 22, 16:04 this is a story of what we call the rich young ruler, 16:08 Father God speak now to us, 16:13 give us Your words and Your spirit 16:16 and help us not to be just hearers of the word. 16:20 We want to do the word, 16:22 because it's in doing the word 16:24 that we are made like Jesus, amen. 16:29 We've heard some powerful, powerful testimonies tonight. 16:34 And I just want to add this little bit 16:36 from the words of the rich, young, ruler. 16:38 The Bible says, I'm in Mark Chapter 10, 16:41 we pick up a story at verse 17, 16:45 "Now as He was going out on the road. 16:49 One came running, knelt before Him". 16:52 Now this posture of kneeling mean, 16:54 this guy is serious, he is not playing, 16:56 he is on his knees. 16:58 So he knelt before Jesus and asked Him, 17:00 "Good teacher what shall I do 17:02 that I may inherit eternal life? 17:06 So Jesus said to him, why do you call me good? 17:11 No one is good, but One, that is God. 17:16 You know the commandments." 17:18 So he send right back to the commandments. 17:21 "Don't commit adultery, don't murder, don't steal, 17:26 do not bear false witness, do not defraud, 17:31 honor your father and your mother. 17:35 And he said to him, teacher all these things 17:40 I've done from my youth". 17:44 Verse 21 says, "Then Jesus looking at him, loved him. 17:49 Aren't you glad that even 17:51 when you come to Jesus even as a Smart Alec. 17:55 When He looks at you, He looks at you with love. 18:00 Everybody else in the world 18:03 can look at you with hate and scorn, 18:05 but when you come to Jesus you always find love. 18:13 Now think of this before I finish this text. 18:16 This fellow is a rich, young, ruler. 18:22 Now in the world can you do any better than that? 18:26 He's rich so he has got all the money, 18:30 he's young, he got all the time and he's a ruler. 18:35 So he can tell people what to do, 18:37 you, you in the world 18:38 you don't get that's the trifecta. 18:41 That's, the home run, he is rich, 18:45 he is young, and he is in charge. 18:50 Now, when he came to Jesus he, 18:52 he really expected Christ to commend Him. 18:56 He expected Jesus to say to Him, 19:00 man I gotten to tell you. 19:03 You rich, you young, and you in charge 19:09 and so when Jesus gave him 19:10 a list of things in the commandments, 19:13 his response was got dead-- happened to it in all my life. 19:20 I got dead. 19:22 So now he is expecting Christ to say, 19:24 I got nothing for you 19:25 'cause you're perfect enter into the kingdom. 19:29 And he is accustomed to hearing that, 19:31 because that's what you hear 19:33 when you're rich, young ruler. 19:35 When you're big shark, 19:37 people laugh at your jokes, 19:39 you know, they're not funny, but they're laughing, 19:45 they're cracking up because you're a rich, young ruler. 19:48 When you're a rich, young, ruler 19:49 people hang around you not because they want you, 19:54 they want what you got. 19:58 Oh, you know folk like that, 19:59 I know I'm not taking people who are not familiar with that, 20:01 people will hang around you 20:03 and I'll use this term suck up to you, amen. 20:07 And kiss up to you as long as you got, 20:12 what's you got, 20:13 because they want some of what you got. 20:20 Isn't it interesting, 20:22 that in this world they don't want you, 20:26 they want your stuff. 20:29 You come to Jesus, 20:31 He don't want your stuff, He wants you. 20:37 He's gotten stuff, He don't need your stuff. 20:40 He wants you and you know what? 20:41 Yourself as long as you got stuff, 20:45 you got friends. 20:47 Come on say, amen, amen. 20:49 You can't say amen, say ouch. 20:54 As long as you got stuff you got friends 20:56 and when your stuff runs out, so do your friends. 21:03 And when you look around and you're, 21:05 I'm gonna invent a new word, stuff-less, 21:11 the only person that still there is a man called Jesus. 21:16 The same thing He told that woman at the rock, 21:18 I got some stuff that you know not off. 21:23 And if you take master you're never thirsty again. 21:30 Let me say this parenthetically, 21:34 everybody that tells you about yourself, 21:39 tells you that the sun doesn't arise 21:41 and set on you, 21:43 puts you in your place is not necessarily your enemy. 21:49 And everybody that makes over you 21:51 and tells you the great thing in the world 21:54 and loves up to you and pushes up on you 21:57 and tells you how good you are is not necessarily your friend. 22:03 See a friend is a person 22:05 who tells you the God's honest truth in love that's a friend. 22:12 Good or bad rich or poor, 22:13 black or white, thick or thin, ugly or pretty, 22:17 truth is what you need. 22:19 And when you go to Jesus 22:20 you always get the truth, amen. 22:23 Always, that's why don't ask Jesus to tell you 22:30 about yourself or show you about yourself 22:34 unless you're ready to see the truth, 22:37 because all God got is truth. 22:39 He's not going to sugarcoat it, 22:41 He's not going to play with it, 22:42 He's not going to spin it, He's not going to soften it, 22:45 He's going to give you the truth, 22:46 the whole truth and nothing but the truth. 22:51 So don't ask unless you're ready for the truth 22:53 and the young man said, 22:54 what must I do to be saved. 22:57 Come on say, amen. 23:00 So Christ give him a list, and He said I got that done 23:06 in all my life and then Lord said, 23:10 well, if you really want to be perfect, 23:14 if you want to be one hundred percent, 23:18 sell everything, sell it all. 23:24 Now Christ wasn't saying you have to be poor, 23:29 Christ was reading his heart, amen. 23:33 And Christ knew, 23:34 his issue was his bank account. 23:38 So Christ cuts through everything 23:40 and gets to his personal issue, 23:43 your issue is money. 23:45 Your issue is your status in the community. 23:48 Your issue is your car 23:50 and your boat and your home, that's your problem. 23:55 So if you want to be perfect, 23:57 if you want to be one hundred percent on my side 24:01 get that out of the way. 24:03 Sell it all, take up your cross and follow me. 24:10 And reason we know Christ hit it dead on 24:13 because the Bible said, 24:16 he made a u-turn 24:19 and walked away sorrowful, why? 24:24 Because he had a lot of stuff. 24:28 Bible says, He had great riches 24:30 and he wasn't willing to give it up. 24:35 You see each of us got something. 24:39 I would say when I was pastoring everybody got stuff, 24:43 I got stuff, you got stuff, all God's children got stuff. 24:51 And Jesus knows precisely what your stuff is. 24:56 And that's what He's calling you let go. 24:59 If you ever want to be one with Jesus, 25:02 if you want to be moving in the realm of perfection, 25:06 if you want to be totally on Christ side, 25:08 you pick the one thing that you love the most, 25:12 pick the thing that identifies you, 25:15 that's makes you are what's you are 25:17 and you lay it at the altar. 25:20 Even if you don't know what it is, Jesus does. 25:25 So in your prayer you ask Him Lord 25:27 is there anything between me and You, 25:30 is there anything I value more than You, 25:32 is there anything I price more than You, 25:34 I give it to You. 25:36 Now you may, Christ may turn around give right back to you. 25:40 I know a person who gave his money to the Lord 25:46 and the Lord turned right around gave it all back to him. 25:50 But He used it in the cause of Christ. 25:52 You know why? 25:54 'Cause Christ saw that, He could trust him with it. 25:59 And if Jesus can trust you with it, 26:01 He'll give you the world. 26:04 He will and the reason we don't have the world 26:08 because He can't trust us with it. 26:10 And some, you know, you try to get the world, 26:14 got you in a trouble. 26:18 That's the truth about the rich young ruler. 26:21 Now what's the truth about you, 26:22 what's your thing? 26:25 The moment you lay it on the altar, 26:28 you're right with God 26:29 and you'll be surprised what God will do for you, 26:33 with you, to you and through you, 26:38 through the power of Jesus Christ. 26:40 But you got to love Him enough. 26:41 There is the book in our closet, 26:43 there is a book called "Living God's Love." 26:46 Actually out of print now 26:48 and it simply says this 200 some pages 26:51 when you boil it all down it says this. 26:56 "Sin is a failure to love Jesus enough". 27:04 If you love Him enough He says to those who received me 27:11 I give the power to become sons of God. 27:16 John 1:12, if you love Him enough all power is yours 27:24 and you can live victoriously 27:26 and even when it get a little hard 27:29 and the boys get on your nerve, 27:32 you can ride above over that in the power of Jesus, 27:40 amen, amen, God bless you. |
