00:01 Hello there! I created grandmas house so I could be a
00:05 loving Christian grandma to every child I meet. 00:07 You're going to meet some real kids who come every week 00:10 for love and Christian mentoring. 00:12 Many of them are hearing about Jesus for the first time. 00:16 My hope and prayer is that you will be inspired to open 00:20 your arms and heart to your neighborhood children. 00:22 Welcome to grandmas house! 00:42 Hi everybody come on in here. 00:44 We are getting ready to play a game of hide and seek. 00:46 I am so glad to have you join us today. 00:48 I've had a lot of my own grandkids here in town and 00:53 we're so excited when we can get together. 00:55 We are going to play a game now and we want you to 00:57 join us as we hunt. 00:58 How many hunters and how many hiders do I have? 01:01 I'm a hunter okay, hunters come right here. 01:07 We are going to count to 100 and you guys, if you are 01:11 Hunter - somebody counts and some people hide. 01:18 When the person is finish counting they get 01:22 to find the persons. 01:27 Go, OK were going to count to 100 guys. 01:29 Ready cover up - I was in it, I have to catch every one. 01:36 17, 18, 19. 01:56 That was so cool! 01:58 98, 99, 100 - alright here we come! 02:11 The girls were easy to catch, but the boys were hard. 02:19 The boys are so easy to outrun, even that they are 02:23 older than me and they have longer legs. 02:26 I like playing hide and seek because 02:29 I can out run an adult. 02:44 It was really fun, I was the one that found all the 02:47 people and it was really hard, but I only found 2. 03:23 There was doll-houses and tree-houses and tents and 03:26 bushes and Hammocks and bugs and lizards and things. 03:44 I was running around in the yard and when I was 03:46 heading to a place I turned around and he got me when 03:49 I was heading over there. 03:53 And that was the deal I will never forget, what can you want? 03:58 Oh you guys tired? Yeah! 04:01 Well I want to ask you guys to question. 04:03 What is the best place you ever found to hide? 04:06 You don't know, how about you guys? 04:10 Did you ever find a place to hide where 04:12 nobody ever found you? 04:14 I know I know - where? 04:16 Over across the creek, well where I hid one time it 04:20 was not across the creek. 04:22 But you know I can tell the story much better if we 04:25 take a visit down at the barn. 04:27 Okay, you guys want to go down to the barn? 04:30 Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! 04:33 Let's go, the barn is this way. 04:34 You see the tree-house - No! 04:36 In the barn, come on! 04:44 Oh this is a great old barn. 04:47 I love being out here, we have had a lot of fun, 04:50 haven't we guys? - yeah! 04:51 Well on our way to the very back of the barn here, 04:54 I'm going to tell you a story. 04:55 We have run into a lot of interesting things but this 04:59 is probably the most interesting thing in the barn. 05:01 Are you ready to see what it is? - yeah! 05:04 Alright, David you can help me to pull us off. 05:06 Now what do you think this object is? 05:09 Did it get stuck down there! 05:11 Oooh a Dresser? 05:13 Come around the front, if you can, 05:14 and let's take a look at it. 05:15 Let's guess, here I'll help you, look at all the doors. 05:22 It's a dresser, it's a dresser, huh! 05:25 Any other guess, a cabinet? 05:27 Well what - and icebox! 05:30 It is an icebox, these are the old-fashioned refrigerators. 05:34 This is the one I wanted to you a story about. 05:37 I was probably 3 years old and we had one of these. 05:42 The house we lived in didn't have any electricity so 05:46 this is how we kept our food cold. 05:48 And ours the top would lift up and you would put 05:51 a big chunk of ice in there. 05:53 And that was how it would keep your food cold. 05:55 Well one day we finally got electricity, 06:00 and that was a big day in our house. 06:02 My dad took the old icebox out and he put it out by 06:06 the garage and he was getting ready to take it, 06:09 and get rid of it. 06:11 Of course he told me, very clearly, 06:14 stay away from the icebox. 06:17 But of course, did I stay away? - No! 06:21 What happened was that all my cousins came over and we 06:25 started playing a game of hide and seek just like today. 06:27 And I wanted to find a place to hide where no one would 06:32 find me, so where do you think I hid? 06:35 In the icebox - in the icebox! 06:38 Oh and that is a terrible thing to do, terrible. 06:40 So I crawled in there, as little as I, I crawled 06:44 in the door like this. 06:45 I pulled the door shut, and I was in there. 06:49 I was so proud of myself, I would say nobody's 06:51 going to find me now. 06:53 You know it was great for a little while, 06:55 but after I was in there a little while it started 06:58 to get hot and stuffy. 07:00 I couldn't breathe very well, and I could hear the 07:04 kids going around and around outside saying, Joyce, 07:07 Joyce, where are you? 07:09 They couldn't find me, couldn't find me and pretty soon 07:11 someone was saying Ollie Ollie Oxidant free. 07:14 But I couldn't get out, I couldn't go in free. 07:18 So I tried to push on the door because there's no 07:21 latches inside so I couldn't get out I was stuck. 07:24 It was getting hotter and hotter in there. 07:27 I was starting to get scared. 07:29 Well outside the kids were looking for me and 07:32 pretty soon they got tired. 07:33 So they went in the house and played some other games. 07:36 But after a while, mother said, do you know 07:41 are all the children in? 07:42 You know I didn't think to count, let's check 07:45 and see if they are all in. 07:46 So they all started looking for me, the grown-ups did. 07:49 They started calling and calling. 07:51 You know I do not remember and other thing until all 07:55 of a sudden my dad was there and he opened the door. 07:59 I had leaned up against the door and 08:01 I fell out right on the ground. 08:03 If he hadn't come out and found me just when he did, 08:07 I might have died. 08:09 So you have to be careful where you hide. 08:13 Sometimes it is good to hide in good places and 08:17 other times it's good to hide in a someplace where 08:19 somebody can find you. 08:20 In case of emergency right? 08:21 So what do you think of the old icebox? 08:24 Is it pretty, would you like to have one 08:27 in your house, or what? 08:28 Grandma took us out to the barn and showed 08:31 us an old refrigerator. 08:32 You have to put a big block of ice in it and 08:36 a pan to keep yourself cold. 08:37 There is no place that you can hide from God, 08:40 He knows where you are. 08:42 He knew that she was going to die in the icebox, 08:47 so He told her dad that she was hiding in there 08:51 and he got there right at the last minute. 08:54 The reason you should never get inside of a refrigerator, 08:58 new or old. 09:02 The new one is because you would get very, very cold, 09:07 but no one would ever find you. 09:09 In the old is because you could die. 09:13 Why don't you guys get out your pencil and paper's 09:18 and get ready to get down my address. 09:19 You know how I love to hear from you. 09:21 So here it is! 09:26 Hey kids grandma Neil would love to hear from you. 09:28 She loves to get pictures, drawings and anything else 09:31 you would like to send her. 09:32 She also answers each one of your letters so get your 09:35 pen ready and write down her address. 10:10 I think we should write to grandma Neil, like all the 10:12 kids all over the world write to grandma Neil. 10:15 Or we can also communicate to her on computers, 10:19 we can e-mail her and everything. 10:23 It is actually pretty fun to be with grandma Neil. 10:27 I am so glad that you come to have fun with us today. 10:30 The more kids there are the more fun it is. 10:34 And yet when it's only you and me, 10:37 I love this time the best. 10:40 Today I want you to get to know me a little better. 10:44 I want to take you about something I like a lot. 10:46 Could you guess? Probably not! 10:49 So I will just tell you, it's poetry. 10:52 I especially like poems written by my kids, my grandkids. 10:57 Maybe you'll write me a poem someday. 11:00 And I like poems about kids. 11:03 One of my favorites is called, Are All The Children In. 11:07 It tells about an old house where a lots of children 11:10 lived and played outside all day. 11:13 When it got dark the mother would call them in and 11:16 then she would look around the room and say, 11:18 are all the children in. 11:20 Then the poet wonders, when Jesus comes and calls 11:24 His children to come home, will He look all around and ask, 11:28 are all the children in? 11:30 You know when I got stuck inside the old icebox 11:35 I was so glad that somebody thought to ask if 11:39 all of us kids were in. 11:40 It was wonderful having somebody watching over us. 11:44 There's somebody else who watches over us with the 11:47 greatest of care, it's Jesus. 11:50 I've told you before that He has gone to build a 11:53 beautiful city for us to live in. 11:55 I think He is busy there right now building lovely 11:58 houses and parks and gardens and pets for everyone. 12:02 It's almost finished now but nobody lives there yet. 12:06 Can you imagine how quiet the streets must be, but it 12:11 won't be quiet there for much longer. 12:13 Jesus has promised to come back and find everyone 12:17 of His children and take them to live with Him. 12:20 After all the families and friends have gone in, 12:24 I wonder what Jesus look around and ask, 12:27 are all the children in? 12:29 What do you think? 12:30 I think He will. 12:32 Do you know that it costs Jesus everything 12:37 He had just so you could be there? 12:39 Jesus paid way more than just money for you, 12:42 He died for you, that was everything He had. 12:46 That is how valuable you are to Him, so am I and 12:51 is every other person in this world. 12:53 He loves us all so much and some day very soon, when it's 12:59 time for all his children to move in the new city. 13:02 I know He will be sure to ask are all the children in? 13:06 He will be so glad to see us and we will be happier 13:11 than we've ever been before to see Him. 13:13 I promise I will be there, would you promise me 13:18 to be there too? 13:19 Until the next time remember that I pray for you 13:23 every night, and that I love you. |
