00:01 Hello there! I created grandma's house so I could be a
00:04 loving Christian grandma to every child I meet. 00:07 You're going to meet some real kids who come every week 00:10 for love and Christian mentoring. 00:12 Many of them are hearing about Jesus for the first time. 00:16 My hope and prayer is that you will be inspired to open 00:19 your arms and heart to your neighborhood children. 00:22 Welcome to Grandma's House! 00:44 Hi kids, I'm so glad that you came over today. 00:47 Do you hear all the excitement around here? 00:50 We're getting ready for a dog wash. 00:52 Why don't you come in and give us a hand! 00:55 Hey kids, come on let's wash the dogs. 01:16 Sit! 01:23 Come on! 01:31 My dog loves baths! 01:41 He shaking on us! 01:59 Okay I got his leash! 02:26 Good boy, good what ever you are! 02:38 Put it in there, put your other one in there! 02:47 Does he bite? No! No! He ain't going to bite! 02:49 There was this big Golden Retriever, 02:51 that can only fit her front paws in 02:53 and we had to move her up and do the back paws 02:57 She wouldn't sit down in there! 03:28 Come here! come here! come here! 03:41 My dog does not like baths, she just kept slipping 03:43 out of her collar. 03:45 When she saw that bath and so we ended up picking her up 03:51 and putting her in. 04:16 The water was pretty dirty by the end and the 04:21 color of a really dirty mud puddle. 04:55 Wait, it's okay! 05:07 They are off after an escaping dog, so while they are doing 05:12 that why don't you and I go over to the barn. 05:14 I have a little something over there are want show you. 05:16 Okay, come on! 05:18 Come on you guys, kids come on! 05:20 I have some cool things over here are want to show you. 05:23 Things from the old days that I really, really love. 05:27 Come on over here. 05:28 While we were washing dogs awhile ago, do you have an 05:31 idea of what this is? 05:32 A spoon - it looks like a big ladle doesn't it? 05:38 This is actually at an old-time bathtub. 05:42 It looks like it's for kids, they had some that were 05:44 longer and bigger, for bigger people too. 05:47 But that is what it is. 05:48 Looks painful, very painful - actually it looks cold. 05:53 Want to try it - yeah, - have a wave. 05:55 Are you freezing - yeah! 06:01 Well you know part of the way to get water in the tub, 06:04 have you ever seen one of these? 06:06 Do you know what these are? It is a pump, an old water pump. 06:10 And you go like this and this but before you could get 06:14 water to come out of it can you guess which you had to do? 06:16 No - you had to have water already and you would pour 06:21 it down the spout and the water would start going down. 06:24 As soon is it got down a little ways then you would have 06:26 to start pumping really fast. 06:28 That would start sucking the water up out of the well. 06:30 And it would go here or over here. 06:34 Take a look at this! 06:35 How'd you like to do your laundry in this? 06:37 No - okay girls! 06:39 Look at these old rollers, I don't know if this 06:41 old thing will turn. 06:42 What you do, on wash day you would get a tub up here, 06:46 and put your clothes and there. 06:48 You rub them on a old scrub board, so what do you think? 06:52 I has seen one of those before - have you seen one 06:55 before - it has like little lines on it - yeah the old 06:58 wash tub, wash board and scrubbers. 07:01 Oh the old days are fun to think about. 07:03 While we are still out here messing around the barn I'd 07:08 like you guys to get ready to write down my address. 07:10 I love to get your letters so much. 07:13 You could tell me about some old-fashioned things around 07:16 your house or maybe ask your grandma or grandpa about 07:18 what they remember from their childhood. 07:21 I would just love to hear all those things. 07:24 So get a pencil and get ready because they are going to 07:28 put my address on the screen and you'll know where to 07:30 write to me, here it is! 07:34 Hey kids grandma Neil would like to hear from you. 07:37 She loves to get pictures, drawings and anything else 07:39 you may want to send her. 07:41 She also answers each one of your letters so get your 07:43 pen ready and write down her address. 08:18 It's been another wild day at grandma's house. 08:21 I'll be ready for bed tonight. 08:23 But I haven't had this much fun since yesterday. 08:27 We finally caught the last dog and he got a really fine bath. 08:32 Now I can catch my breath and I can tell you what I have 08:36 been thinking about. 08:37 I have been pondering on what it was like when I was little. 08:41 I want to show you a picture of myself at a house 08:44 called Miners Mansion. 08:46 I was about 4 years old in this picture. 08:48 I remember only the happy times we spent here, 08:51 it was a wonderful place. 08:53 My brothers and I would play all day outside, and we 08:57 would wander over the hills nearby. 08:59 Boy would we get dirty, but we sure had fun. 09:02 When we first moved in there was no running water. 09:06 So dad used milk cans to bring water home from the river. 09:10 Every Friday evening mom will get out the big, round 09:13 washtub and fill it part way with river water. 09:17 Then she would heat a big kettle of water on the old 09:20 wood cook stove. 09:21 When it was ready she would pour enough hot water in the 09:24 tub to make it just right for a bath. 09:26 Mike got his bath first because he was the littlest, 09:29 then it was my turn. 09:31 Oh it felt so good to be clean. 09:34 But the best part of the day was after supper, 09:38 just before the sun was going down it seems 09:42 like the world slows down. 09:44 Everything gets quiet waiting for the stars to come out. 09:48 That is when we would have a special sundown worship to 09:51 welcome in the Sabbath. 09:53 We would gather in our living room and I would sit on 09:56 the couch with my legs sticking straight out. 09:58 Because they couldn't touch the floor. 10:00 Mama would read us a story from the Bible, 10:02 I loved to hear her read. 10:05 Then we would sing Day Is Dying in the West, 10:09 while the sun slipped away and everything was peaceful. 10:13 I still love that old song. 10:16 Would you like me to sing it to you? 10:18 I won't sing it out loud for anybody but you. 10:22 Because my voice is not so good, but I want you to learn 10:25 it and I know you won't make fun of me. 10:28 Listen! 10:30 Day is dying in the West. 10:35 Heaven is touching earth with rest. 10:41 Wait and worship while the night, 10:46 set your evening lamp to light. 10:51 Through all the sky. 10:55 Holy! Holy! Holy! 11:02 Lord God of hosts, 11:06 heaven and earth are full of Thee, 11:11 Heaven and Earth are praising Thee, 11:15 Oh Lord most high. 11:21 I wish I lived right next door to you, but even though 11:26 we are miles apart, we can stay close at heart. 11:28 And you know what else, God wants to be with us too. 11:32 He wants that so much that He set aside everything else He 11:36 does just to spend special alone time with you and me. 11:41 That is why our family worship on Friday night was so 11:45 special, it was because God was there. 11:48 So here's what we can do, every Friday evening when the 11:52 sun goes down find a special quite place to be with God 11:55 and grandma in your heart. 11:57 And I will do the same thing. 11:59 We'll sing that song and you'll know 12:02 I'm doing the same thing. 12:03 And God is right there with us, it will be the 3 of us. 12:08 We'll become best friends and always keep this 12:11 promise at the beginning of God's time with us, the Sabbath. 12:14 After we sing I'll pray for you, and I will be counting 12:18 on you to pray for me. 12:20 God will link is together and hold us so close to His heart. 12:24 Let's start this very Friday night. 12:26 It makes me so glad to know that we will do this every 12:30 week, I can hardly wait. 12:32 I have to say goodbye now, but don't forget how special 12:37 you are to me and how much I love you and 12:40 want to spend time with you. 12:42 God loves you even more, come back soon won't you? 12:48 We washed a bunch of dogs. 12:50 It was pretty funny to see all the dogs and the tubs. 12:53 The dogs smelled good but their breath was just horrible. 12:59 There was one big dog that was really hairy and was 13:04 probably hard to wash, I didn't wash it. 13:07 We only had like two dogs run a way from us. 13:09 My dog got loose about 5, 6 times. 13:13 We really enjoyed it, she was running around wet, 13:16 I knew she would run away. 13:17 There were some dogs that were pretty wild, one of them 13:20 drug my brother around the yard. 13:23 It gave him a pretty big bruise. 13:25 I just washed my dog and a little dog about this tall, that 13:30 was sort of hairy like that other one. 13:33 We got really wet and fur all over us because they shook 13:39 all over us and they were shedding. 13:41 I wasn't really scared because they all looked friendly. 13:44 I think they got a pretty good bath. |
