00:01 Welcome to Grandma's House.
00:03 The time we spend together is one Grandma's attempt 00:06 to love and bless in Jesus' name. 00:08 The kids you see are not actors just real kids 00:11 in a real neighborhood. Like any other. 00:13 They are the joy of my life, especially when I see 00:17 the little seeds I plant begin to sprout. 00:19 If you have an empty place in your heart 00:22 please stay. Spend a little time 00:24 at Grandma's House. 00:38 This is Grandma's House. 00:43 Hi there grand kids. I am so happy 00:46 every time you join me. I'm especially glad today 00:48 because we're in a different place today. 00:50 I've brought you all the way out here to meet 00:53 my grand-daughter, Katie and her horse, Jenny. 00:56 Hi Katie. Hi grandma. 00:58 How are you doing today? Good. 01:01 And introduce Jenny to all these kids. 01:04 This is Jenny. Isn't she a sweetheart? 01:07 Yeah. Now, what do we do 01:09 with all this buckets that I picked out here 01:12 and I don't know what's in it and what is for. 01:14 Ok, well. Do you want me to hold it? 01:16 Sure. If you can take that 01:18 I can take this. I know she is 01:19 sniffing for treats, don't you know? 01:21 Let's see. 01:22 We can start with the Curry Comb. 01:23 It's a piece of... pretty much rubber and it has 01:26 a lot of little bristles that you run across 01:29 the horse's neck and shoulders. So this is her comb? 01:32 Well, kind of. She has a comb for her body 01:35 and a comb for her mane and tail. 01:36 Oh, really. Yes. 01:38 Ok. And this one you actually go 01:39 in circles, I'll show you. Ok. 01:44 It goes all the way around. 01:46 And usually horses don't agree with it very much, 01:49 but she's doing pretty good. 01:53 And it takes off a lot of excess hair. 01:58 Ok. Do you do that every day? 02:01 How often do you have to do that? 02:02 Hum, usually I do it twice a day but sometimes 02:06 I can do it only once. Ok. 02:08 What else do you have to do to take care of her? 02:10 Here's a normal comb. 02:12 You use a normal comb for her? 02:14 Yes, a lot of us have it for our hair but horses need a huge one 02:20 'cause they have so much hair. Yes. 02:23 So, this... Is it made for her mane? 02:25 Yes, is made for her. And it's a part of the body 02:27 that has... at least really long hair. 02:32 Ok. 02:33 So, you pretty much pressure like you would 02:35 use a normal comb. Oh, cool. 02:38 She let's me know she wants another treat. 02:40 And then... What else is in there? 02:44 It's a brush. Ok. 02:45 It's a normal brush. 02:47 Kind like a baby brush Is it soft? 02:50 They have softer ones and they have hard ones. 02:53 Which one does Jenny like? 02:55 Jenny likes the soft ones 'cause she's a big baby. 02:57 Oh. A big baby. 02:58 Yeah, she is. 02:59 She has the softest nose in the world I'll tell you that. 03:02 She's a doll. 03:06 And horses love to have their heads scratched. 03:08 They do. It's like... 03:10 It's like when you scratch a cat. 03:12 You know they like to be scratched up 03:14 between the ears too. Yeah. 03:16 And this pretty much takes off all the hair 03:19 that the curry comb can get. 03:20 So wonderful. 03:22 Or dirt too. 03:25 Dirt, huh... She hasn't get dirty does she. 03:28 Oh, if only she didn't. If only you didn't, huh? 03:32 She likes playing in the mud. Yes she does. 03:34 And what about feeding? Giving her water 03:36 and things like that. 03:37 Well, there's... We have a bucket 03:40 that refills itself. Oh. 03:42 We also have to clean it out. 03:43 And there get like little pieces of brush in it and stuff. 03:46 So, usually I dump it out every other day. 03:50 And I clean it out every other time I do it. 03:54 Excellent. So, she always has fresh water. 03:57 Yes. 03:58 And does she just eat the pasture all day 03:59 or do you give her something else besides. 04:01 I give her oats and a flick of hay. 04:03 Usually I give her something called senior pallets 04:07 They're for weight gaining for horses 04:09 and for older horses. 04:10 Ok, now why does she need to take something 04:12 for gaining weight? 04:13 Because when we got her she was a bag of bones. 04:16 Yes, I remember she was. 04:19 But now she's a big chubby buddy. 04:22 Yes. I think she's pretty happy here. 04:25 Yes. But, along with feeding 04:27 you also have to have all the medicines that go with it. 04:30 Oh, she has to have medicines too. 04:31 Yes. Actually... 04:32 Do you give her the medicines or you are taking her to a vet. 04:34 Some you can, like mormine. 04:36 Ok. You do it yourself. 04:38 Oh really. I can actually show you. 04:39 Are you gonna do this? 04:40 Yeah. 04:41 Is she gonna bite you? No, I hope not. 04:45 What... goes right in the mouth. 04:47 Yep. 04:48 She doesn't like it very much but... 04:50 She won't spit at me, will she? 04:52 No. 04:54 Oh... It's very messy. 05:00 Oh, you love it, don't you Jenny baby? 05:03 A little bit more. 05:04 Yum, yum, yum. 05:06 And that is how a horse gets their morming medicine. 05:09 Well, you were a good girl. 05:12 Oh, look at her wrinkle her nose. 05:14 Would you like some goodie now? 05:16 Will take the taste away. Oh, my... 05:20 Jenny... Here. 05:22 No, you just ruined your whole appetite, didn't it. 05:25 No, you want some good. 05:27 No. 05:32 Oh, she's gonna be mad for a while 05:35 'cause this really tastes icky apparently. 05:38 Yes. Horses usually don't do that 05:40 unless they have a bad taste in their mouth, 05:42 or they have gas. 05:45 Well, either way I think she wanna stay away 05:47 from her a little bit. 05:49 Oh, Katie I wanna thank you so much for letting us come out 05:53 and see your horse. No problem. 05:55 Oh... She loves all the company. 05:57 Oh, I bet she does. 05:59 Well, earlier today I was in at the house, Grandma's House 06:02 and you know we can always have a horse 06:05 in our backyard or maybe a dog, maybe you live 06:07 in an apartment. So, we were making 06:10 pets so that you can take with you everywhere. 06:11 Well, not exactly everywhere, but we were making pet rocks. 06:17 You wanna see how to do it? Come on. 06:21 Come on Jenny. 06:24 Hey, would you girls like to try making a pet rock? 06:26 Yeah. How about you guys? 06:29 You wanna see too? Come on in close, 06:31 we'll show you how. 06:32 Just get a plain ordinary rock girls and pick out 06:36 the colors of your favorite colors. 06:38 We'll start making a rock that looks like a pet. 06:40 Can I start pouring it. Sure, just little bits 06:43 of different colors. 06:58 Black, we could get black dog. 07:15 Pretty colors. 07:40 I made blue, pink and red. 07:56 Well, aren't these great rocks? 07:58 They make wonderful pets. We could just 08:00 stick them in our pockets and take them almost any place. 08:05 Well, wasn't that fun? I hope you had a good time 08:08 making the pet rocks. You know, you can make 08:10 almost anything out of a rock. 08:12 Have you ever done that Katie? 08:13 No. No? 08:14 Well, she's got real pets. 08:16 What other pets do you have around here? 08:18 I have one rabbit, that actually lives in a cage. 08:21 Yes. Not inhumanly. 08:27 And we have two yard bunnies 08:31 named Snuggles and Buddy. 08:34 And I forgot to mention, our cage bunny's name 08:38 is Reese's. Reese's? 08:40 Yes, like a Reese's peanut butter cup. 08:43 And we have a cat named Penguin. 08:45 Oh... 08:47 How did you get all those pets? 08:49 Well, Reese's found us, we bought Snuggles and Buddy 08:54 and Penguin found us. 08:58 Yeah, she just showed up. 09:00 Yes. 09:01 Well, I'll tell you, there's nothing in the world 09:02 more fun than taking care of a pet. 09:04 You know I'd really like to hear about your pets. 09:07 I'd like you to write to me, I would like for you 09:10 to draw pictures of your pets or maybe take a picture 09:13 with you and your pet. 09:14 I just love getting letters, you know I do. 09:17 Anyway here's my address: 09:21 Hey kids, Grandma Neil would love to hear from you. 09:24 She loves to get pictures, drawings and anything else 09:26 you may want to send her. 09:28 She also answers each one of your letters 09:30 so get your pen ready and write down her address, ok? 09:33 If you want to write her a letter address it 09:36 to Grandma's House P.O. Box 220 09:39 West Frankfort IL 62896 U.S.A. 09:43 That's Grandma's House P.O. Box 220 09:47 West Frankfort IL 62896 U.S.A. 09:50 Grandma also loves to get e-mails 09:53 at grandma@3abn. org 09:57 That's Grandma at 3ABN, that's the number 3 09:59 and the letters ABN.org 10:02 She'd love to hear from you. 10:05 Bless the peace and the children 10:09 for in this world they have no voice, 10:13 they have no choice. 10:16 That's an old Grandma's song. 10:19 It's really a prayer for the people and animals who 10:22 have no power in this world. 10:23 There's always somebody telling them what to do. 10:27 You might feel that way too sometimes? 10:30 At your age it can get really frustrating. 10:34 But did you know there are beings that have 10:37 far less power than you do? 10:39 They see you as someone very big and very powerful 10:43 and very smart. They think you are so 10:47 wonderful you could even make food and water appear. 10:50 I'm talking about pets of course. 10:53 And whether they are happy or miserable 10:56 depends on how you choose to use the power 10:59 that you do have. 11:00 Pets are little gifts from God, 11:02 made especially for you, just to make you happy. 11:06 He knows it's hard to always be told what to do. 11:10 So, He made something for you to made charge over. 11:13 He puts them in your care so you can have some power 11:17 and you can learn to use it well. 11:19 I know it's hard to always be bossed around. 11:23 I remember what it was like. 11:25 And Jesus was once a child just like you are now. 11:29 So, now you know there are at least two other people 11:32 in the world who remember what it is like 11:35 to feel powerless. We both know that you really do 11:39 have some power and that if you used it responsibly every day, 11:43 your power for good will grow. 11:46 When it's seems like you don't get to do nothing 11:49 you wanna do and everybody is telling what to do, 11:52 you can come back to grandma's house. 11:55 I'll remind you how marvelous your are. 11:58 In the meantime, tell God how you feel. 12:01 He'll help you to adore anything. 12:03 I'll be watching for you, so you come back real soon. 12:07 I love you. 12:12 My pet rock... I'm gonna teach it 12:14 how to climb up a wall, how to fly and how to paint 12:22 it's own pet rock. 12:23 This is my pet rock. I think it is going to sleep. 12:27 Sssssssss... 12:29 My pet's rock name is gonna be... Lady. 12:35 I named him, what should I name I named him: Kitty Cat. 12:41 Grandma Neal's pet rock is my favorite 12:44 out of all them 'cause it's a turtle 12:46 and I really like turtles. 12:48 And she did her best. 12:51 She said that it didn't looked that good 12:53 but I thought it did. 12:56 He's still tired. 12:57 I think I'll let him sleep in. 13:00 I think when I was painting on my pet rock... 13:03 When I was painting around it's armpit part 13:07 it started giggling a lot. 13:11 That's all I have to say. I know no more. |
