Write her today. 08:43 Oh that was such a fun time we had. 08:45 I hope it maybe gave you an idea or two about how 08:48 you might want to do something special for your own 08:51 grandma, if you have one, or how about doing it for 08:54 somebody else you want to make feel 08:57 especially appreciated. 08:59 It is a very good thing to show appreciation to people 09:03 we love and it is an extra blessed thing to show respect 09:07 and appreciation to somebody who might be lonely, 09:09 tired or sad. 09:11 Another word we might use to describe tea parties and such 09:16 is hospitality, that just means a friendly and generous 09:20 reception of guests, visitors, or strangers. 09:23 It is so much fun to be hospitable, and making tea 09:27 is just one way to do it. 09:29 Right now I am experimenting with making tea from 09:33 plants I have in my own yard. 09:34 Out in the garden I have two kinds of mint. 09:37 They make my favorite kind of tea, one variety is 09:41 peppermint and the other is spearmint. 09:44 It's hard to choose, I think they are both delicious. 09:47 Ummmm, Hey, you know mint grows pretty easily, why don't you 09:53 ask your mom if you can grow some in a pot or in 09:55 a corner of the garden? 09:57 Just go to a garden store and ask where they have 10:00 all the herbs, it will be right there with parsley 10:02 and the other stuff. 10:04 They are sold in little pots already growing so all 10:07 you have to do is plant them in the ground or in a 10:10 bigger pot with more room. 10:12 In fact if you have the room it might be really fun to 10:16 grow a whole herb garden. 10:18 You will have a blast with all the pungent aromas and 10:21 flavors and your mom will love having fresh herbs to 10:25 make your favorite food. 10:26 You can make an herb garden in a basket or a flower pot. 10:31 Just pick out two or three or four of your favorite herbs 10:35 and fill a flower pot about halfway full of potting mix. 10:39 Then take your plants out of their plastic containers. 10:43 See they look like this can you see that? 10:45 And pop them right into the pot. 10:48 Then you fill the pot up the rest away with more soil and 10:51 wall la you have an herb garden. 10:55 It is really fun to take a leaf from each of the different 10:57 plants and rub them between your fingers. 11:01 Ummmm let out their aroma and you can see which ones 11:05 you like best. Ummmm, anyway I usually make mint tea, 11:09 but today I have decided to try something different. 11:13 I'm just starting to make some Clover tea. 11:15 I have never tried this before but you know the Clover 11:19 smells so good growing along the road and I thought it 11:23 would be fun to see what it tastes like. 11:25 So I just picked some blossoms and washed them off and 11:28 dunked them in hot water. 11:30 After they've been in there for a few minutes to get 11:32 the flavor out, but it looks like it might be tea 11:35 to me in any minute. Ummmm. 11:37 Hey, Did you know that God smiles from ear to ear when 11:41 you are hospitable? He really does. 11:44 The Bible even says that some people have entertained 11:48 angels when they thought they were just 11:50 being hospitable to someone. 11:52 And in another place it tells us you can not refresh 11:55 another person without getting some of it on you. 11:59 So it becomes a double blessing, one for them, 12:02 and one for you. 12:04 You know when we did our tea party it was pretty 12:07 fancy, but please don't think it has to be 12:09 like that all the time. 12:10 I just did it that way so I could spend the whole day 12:14 together in the kitchen having fun with my granddaughters. 12:17 If somebody stops by for just a few minutes, showing 12:20 hospitality just might mean giving them a glass of cool 12:24 water, or letting them rest in your favorite chair. 12:27 If somebody gets hurt on the playground, the best thing 12:30 to do might be to get help or if it is not too bad just 12:33 helping the other boy or girl get up again is hospitable. 12:36 The dictionary says the whole idea is 12:40 to be friendly and generous. 12:42 Remember what I told the girls at 12:45 the first of the program? 12:47 I said true courtesy is to do and say the kindest thing in 12:51 the kindest way. 12:53 See all of this kind of goes together, being kind and 12:56 courteous, hospitable, friendly and generous. 12:59 They are all just ways of saying the same thing. 13:03 Do unto others as you want them to do to you. 13:06 Hmmm, where have I heard that before? 13:10 Now here's another little secret you might not know about 13:14 me, in my ordinary everyday life sometimes I find it is 13:18 hard for me to witness for Jesus like I think I should. 13:22 But what I have discovered is this, God didn't make me 13:26 like any body else in He doesn't expect me to do my work 13:30 for Him just like anybody else either. 13:32 Whew that's a relief, so don't you waste your time trying 13:37 to shine for Jesus like somebody else does. 13:39 Just shine, God loves you just the way you are and I do 13:45 too and you can take that to the bank any day. 13:49 Now remember I love you so much, but Jesus loves you 13:52 even more and one of these days we are going to be 13:56 together for ever and ever and ever. 14:02 I'm a little teapot, short and stout. 14:06 Here is my handle, here is my spout. 14:10 When I get all steamed up, I will shout. 14:15 Tip me over and pour me out. |
