You may be seated. 03:53 Please be seated. 03:55 Please turn to your Bibles. 03:57 Turn on your Bibles. 03:58 Turn to your Bibles to Acts 1. 04:02 Acts 1 is where our theme for this conference is found. 04:06 If you're there, please say amen. 04:10 If you're not there, hurry up. 04:14 If you're there, please say amen. 04:16 Amen. 04:17 If you're still not there, say "Please have mercy on me." 04:20 Hurry up. 04:22 You're making this sermon way too long. 04:26 Acts 1:1, amen? 04:28 Amen. 04:30 The Bible says in the New King James Version, 04:33 "The former account I made, O Theophilus, 04:35 of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 04:41 until the day in which He was taken up, 04:43 after He through the Holy Spirit 04:45 had given commandments to the apostles 04:47 whom He had chosen, 04:48 to whom He also presented Himself alive 04:51 after His suffering by many infallible proofs, 04:54 being seen by them during forty days 04:56 and speaking of the things 04:57 pertaining to the kingdom of God. 04:59 And being assembled together with them, 05:02 He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, 05:04 but wait for the Promise of the Father, 05:06 'which,' He said, 05:07 'you have heard from Me, 05:09 for John truly baptized with water, 05:11 but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit 05:13 not many days from now.' 05:15 Therefore, 05:16 when they had come together, 05:18 they asked Him, saying, 05:19 'Lord, will You at this time 05:21 restore the kingdom to Israel?' " 05:22 Acts 1:7. 05:23 "And He said to them, 05:25 'It is not for you to know the times or seasons 05:27 which the Father has put in His own authority.' 05:29 And Acts 1:8, 05:31 "'But you shall receive power 05:33 when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, 05:34 and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, 05:37 and in all Judea and Samaria, 05:40 and to the end of the earth.' " 05:45 Speaker of the hour is Elder Gary Blanchard. 05:48 He is the General Conference World Youth Director, 05:50 which means he is the lead pastor 05:52 for all the youth leaders all around the world. 05:56 He has one wife, Erica. 05:58 Amen? 06:00 Amen. 06:01 He has 3 young adult children and 1.5 dogs. 06:06 It's a German Shepherd and a Wiener-Dog. 06:09 He's originally from Maine. 06:11 And before coming to the General Conference, 06:13 his previous post was serving here 06:16 in the Texas Conference as Youth Director. 06:19 He's better known as PG or Pastor Gary. 06:23 When you come to the General Conference, 06:25 you get the Elder attached to your name. 06:27 He had devout two schools of evangelism 06:30 called SENT and GLAD REAPER, 06:31 and currently he's part of a GC initiative 06:35 to get 100,000 youth-led evangelistic series 06:40 around the world and online. 06:43 I've known Gary to have a real passion 06:45 to pass on three things. 06:47 One, our identity as it is in Jesus. 06:51 Two, our mission as Seventh-day Adventists. 06:55 And three, 06:56 local church leadership to the younger generation. 06:59 We share a wall together at the General Conference. 07:02 We share the same burden to reach this generation 07:05 to reach the world. 07:06 He's been a great friend of GYC 07:08 and a great blessing to the world church. 07:12 After the musical offering and a video presentation, 07:15 the next voice you'll hear 07:17 will be that of Elder Gary Blanchard. 07:42 There are no unknown soldiers 07:46 God knows them all by name 07:51 His army cannot march 07:54 Beyond His care 07:59 Their blood type has established 08:03 Their royal identities 08:07 And when the roll is called up yonder 08:11 Every soldier will be there 08:17 There are no unknown soldiers 08:21 In the army of the Lord 08:26 No wounded left to die 08:29 Along the way 08:33 No missing in the action 08:37 Commissioned by our King 08:41 Every soldier's coming home 08:44 At last to stay 08:49 Every soldier's coming home 08:52 At last to stay 09:01 The final battle's ended 09:05 The noise of conflict's still 09:09 The ravaged fields lie baking in the sun 09:15 For a mighty trumpet sounded 09:20 All the troops they were called home 09:23 There was not a soldier missing 09:27 When this great war was done 09:32 There are no unknown soldiers 09:36 In the army of the Lord 09:40 No wounded left to die 09:43 Along the way 09:47 No missing in the action 09:51 Commissioned by our King 09:54 Every soldier's coming home 09:57 At last to stay 10:02 Every soldier's coming home 10:05 At last to stay 10:09 He's never wondered where we are 10:13 He has our DNA 10:16 And soon in grand formation 10:20 We will fall in line to say 10:24 There are no unknown soldiers 10:29 In the army of the Lord 10:35 No wounded left to die along the way 10:42 No missing in the action 10:45 Commissioned 10:47 By our King 10:54 Every soldier's coming home 10:58 At last to stay 11:03 Every soldier's coming home 11:07 At last to stay 11:19 To stay 11:31 Billions of people around the world 11:32 live in cities. 11:34 There are over 100 cities 11:36 with a population greater than 1 million. 11:39 Many people living in these cities 11:41 have no knowledge of Jesus. 11:43 They are surrounded by crime, racism, 11:46 disease, corruption, and godlessness. 11:50 What will you do? 11:53 Will you stand by and watch? 11:54 Or will you go 11:56 and demonstrate the love of Jesus? 11:58 Evangelism is the essential work 12:00 for this time 12:01 and will result in starting a mighty movement 12:04 such as we have not yet experienced. 12:07 The everlasting gospel is the only real antidote 12:09 for the godlessness found in the cities of the world. 12:13 Do you hear His voice calling you 12:14 into the cities? 12:16 There is only one effective method 12:18 of evangelism, 12:19 Christ method alone. 12:21 He is calling you to be part of a mighty army of youth, 12:25 who will socialize, sympathize, serve, 12:28 and share His love with those in the cities. 12:31 One Year in Mission. 12:32 Are you ready? 12:33 If you're a committed Seventh-day Adventist 12:36 from ages 18-35, active in your local church, 12:40 graduated from high school, a good team player, 12:43 highly recommended by your pastor, 12:45 and determined to take an entire year off 12:48 to focus on this ministry. 12:50 One Year in Mission is for you. 12:53 Why wait? 12:54 Let's take the cities now. 12:56 Find out more at www.Youth.Adventist.org 13:05 Happy Sabbath, GYC. 13:07 Happy Sabbath. 13:09 Happy Sabbath, Texas. 13:11 It's good to have everybody here today. 13:14 Are you enjoying the Sabbath? 13:16 You know, when I go places, 13:18 I always have a little pass it on thing we do. 13:21 We're trying to pass on 13:22 to the younger generation identity in Christ, 13:24 mission as Seventh-day Adventist, 13:26 and leadership in the local church. 13:28 What do you think about that? Amen. 13:29 So what I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say pass it on, 13:31 you're gonna shout back to me, 13:32 "Identity, mission, leadership, pass it on." 13:35 Can you do that? 13:36 Okay, here it goes. 13:37 Pass it on. 13:39 Identity, mission, leadership. 13:42 I let you guys off easy. 13:44 Normally, I had people jump up in the air. 13:48 What did you say? You wanted to do that? 13:49 Okay, we're gonna do that. All right. 13:51 So I'm gonna shout pass it on to you, you're gonna say, 13:52 "Identity, mission, leadership," 13:54 and then you're gonna step and go "Pass it on." 13:56 Okay? Can we try it? 13:58 Only the young people are allowed to do this. 14:01 Old folks, stay seated 14:02 'cause you don't have the energy to... 14:04 No, I'm just kidding. Anybody. 14:05 Here we go. Pass it on! 14:07 Identity, mission, leadership, pass it on! 14:11 Amen. 14:13 Amen. Amen. 14:15 What a blessing to be here. 14:17 I don't know how many of you were here last night 14:18 to hear Moise's wonderful message 14:20 about not to leave anyone behind. 14:23 Amen? 14:24 Powerful message. 14:26 I want to begin with a word of prayer 14:27 at this time 14:29 and really thank the Lord for already being here. 14:31 I'm not gonna ask the Lord to be here 14:32 because I don't know about you, but I sense His presence. 14:34 Amen. 14:35 So let's thank Him for being here. 14:37 Let's bow our heads. 14:39 "Heavenly Father, 14:40 what a great honor it is 14:41 to be standing before the army of the Lord, 14:44 Generation Youth Christ. 14:48 Father, we believe with all our heart 14:50 that this work can be finished in this generation. 14:54 And, Father, we believe this work can be finished 14:57 by young and old alike 14:58 working together intergenerationally. 15:01 And, Father, we believe that our message is Jesus 15:03 and we want to present Him, Lord, 15:05 with the power of the Holy Spirit 15:08 because we realized, Lord, that He is the only Savior, 15:10 there is none other. 15:12 So we love You, Lord, and we thank You for being here. 15:14 In Jesus' name, amen. Amen. 15:16 You know, wherever I go, people ask me two questions. 15:18 Usually, they'd ask me, 15:20 "Why did they choose you to be the World Youth Director?" 15:22 That's the first question. 15:24 That makes me a little bit nervous. 15:26 The second question is 15:28 "What is your vision for youth ministry." 15:30 So I have an answer for the first one. 15:32 The first one is very simple. 15:34 I don't know if you guys have read this anywhere, 15:35 but the Bible actually teaches that 15:37 God calls the foolish things of the world. 15:41 And also, the Bible says, 15:42 "His power is made perfect in..." 15:44 Help me out. 15:45 "Weakness." "Weakness." 15:47 So that's my only reason 15:48 why I'm the World Youth Director today, 15:50 but I feel very blessed. 15:51 Amen? Amen. 15:53 The other question that people ask me is 15:55 "What is your vision for youth ministry?" 15:57 But I got to tell you right now, GYC, with all my heart, 16:00 we need less visions from men and more visions from God. 16:06 Instead of asking a mere mortal 16:08 what their vision is for youth ministry, 16:11 maybe we should ask God. 16:13 What do you say? Amen. 16:15 And what I'm really excited about today is that 16:17 God has given us His vision and His provision. 16:22 In Acts 1:8, 16:25 if you want to know God's vision for youth ministry 16:27 or God's vision for the church, 16:29 if you want to know God's provision 16:31 or power to make it happen, it's all there in Acts 1:8. 16:37 Amen? Amen. 16:38 Right here, in Acts 1:8, 16:42 is the secret to going big so we could go home. 16:45 Amen. 16:47 I don't know about you but I'm ready to go home. 16:49 Are you ready? Amen. 16:51 The secret to going home, going big, 16:53 and going home is right here, 16:55 God's vision and God's provision, in Acts 1:8. 16:59 How many of you got your Bibles out? 17:02 Let's read this together, okay? 17:06 "But you..." 17:08 Now notice how personal this is. 17:10 Twice the Bible says you. 17:13 "But you shall receive power 17:15 when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. 17:18 And you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, 17:21 in Judea, and Samaria and," what? 17:25 It's right up here on the stage. 17:26 And what? 17:28 "To the end." 17:29 Now what's very interesting here is God's vision 17:32 comes after God's provision. 17:34 You'll notice here the provision comes first, 17:36 "And you shall receive power 17:38 when the Holy Spirit has come upon you." 17:40 And then here comes the vision, 17:42 "And you shall be witnesses to me, 17:45 in Jerusalem, and Judea, and Samaria, 17:47 and to the end of the earth." 17:49 Can you say amen? Amen. 17:50 Right there, you have a very simple plan. 17:53 God says, "Look, here's My vision 17:56 and here's My provision for making it happen, 17:58 Seventh-day Adventist Church. 18:00 GYC, if you want to be a witness to the end, 18:03 you must receive my baptism of the Holy Spirit." 18:07 You see, God's vision, 18:09 "And you will be witnesses to Me to the end." 18:14 That is God's vision. 18:15 "You will be witnesses of Me to the end." 18:18 You know, it's very interesting, 18:20 in the book of Acts, the Bible tells us 18:21 that God sets up the borders of the nations. 18:24 But very interestingly, when it comes to His church, 18:27 there are no borders. 18:31 We are to go to the end. 18:33 We are to permeate like yeast. 18:35 We are to permeate like light, but there are no borders. 18:40 And by the way, if you're a racist, 18:42 you will not like the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 18:46 I thought I'd get more amens on that one. 18:48 Amen. 18:49 This is a church that goes to Samaria, and Judea, 18:53 and Jerusalem, and to the end of the age. 18:55 This is a church for every nation, 18:58 kindred, town, and people. 19:01 That's God's vision. 19:03 That's why you don't want some 19:04 beastly weak vision from a man. 19:06 You want a powerful big vision from God. 19:12 You know, I love Ellen White, bought right into this. 19:15 I love you. 19:17 You know this quote, 19:18 "With such an army," help me out, 19:20 "With such an army of workers," what, 19:23 "as our youth," what, "rightly trained might furnish, 19:28 how soon the message of a crucified, and risen, 19:32 and soon-coming Savior could go," where, 19:35 "to the whole world." 19:38 Very interesting. 19:40 Ellen White basically takes Acts 1:8 19:42 and applies it to young people. 19:43 GYC! 19:45 Generation Youth for Christ! 19:47 Amen? 19:50 Jesus has a vision here 19:53 that every young person becomes a spirit-filled 19:56 missionary to the end. 20:00 No borders, everywhere! 20:03 God's vision is every young person, 20:05 a spirit-filled missionary to the end of the world. 20:11 Wow! 20:13 You know, I have a theory about young people. 20:16 And the theory is that young people were designed 20:19 to live dangerously. 20:22 Now Jesus apparently had the same theory 20:24 because right here, it says, 20:26 "But you shall receive power 20:27 when the Holy Spirit is come upon you, 20:29 and you shall be martyrs." 20:32 Did you hear me? 20:34 The actual word for witness here 20:35 in Acts 1:8 is the word for martyr. 20:41 Jesus is calling His church to live dangerously 20:44 that others might be saved, 20:47 even if it means laying down your life 20:49 because you know that your eternity is secured in Jesus, 20:52 but they don't have the assurance of eternity. 20:56 A movement of young missionaries, 20:58 spirit-filled, to the end. 21:00 Not only to the end of the earth 21:02 but also to the end of their lives. 21:05 It's a big vision. 21:08 You know, there's a powerful verse in the Bible. 21:11 It's in Psalms 127:4. 21:14 And it actually describes young people 21:17 as arrows in the hands of a warrior. 21:19 Can you say amen? Amen. 21:21 Now I'm gonna invite 21:23 my wonderful assistant to come out here. 21:24 And how many of you ever seen a bow and arrow before? 21:27 Okay. 21:29 You don't know how many security clearances 21:31 I have to pass to get this. 21:33 They all know I'm emotionally unstable, 21:35 so they were very worried, 21:37 especially when I said I need somebody 21:38 that could be a moving target and somebody with an apple 21:40 and as a volunteer. 21:42 When I said that, they really freaked out. 21:45 But the Bible says in Psalms 127:4, 21:47 and don't worry, guys, you're safe. 21:48 I'm not gonna put the arrow in here. 21:50 But the Bible actually tells us that young people 21:53 are like arrows in the hands of a warrior. 21:56 Can you say amen? Amen. 21:57 Now notice, the Bible does not say young people are arrows... 22:00 are like arrows in the hands of an archer 22:04 because if they were arrows in the hands of an archer, 22:06 maybe these young people 22:07 could just be used for target practice, 22:09 like they are in many churches today. 22:12 But the Bible says there, 22:14 they're arrows in the hands of a warrior. 22:17 When a warrior shoots an arrow, 22:18 it's always into the most dangerous places of the earth, 22:22 the enemy's frontlines. 22:24 The Bible is telling us something very clearly 22:26 and Jesus has affirmed it, 22:28 young people were designed to live for God, 22:31 even to death 22:33 and even to the ends of the earth. 22:39 You're all safe now. I'll put this down. 22:43 I got a couple amen's on that. 22:47 One of the questions I hear all the time is 22:49 "Pastor Gary, how do we keep our young people?" 22:51 Have you heard this one? 22:53 Raise your hand if you've heard that before. 22:54 Maybe you've said it. It's a great question. 22:56 How do we keep our young people? 22:58 I want to tell you right now, 22:59 here's how we keep Seventh-day Adventist young people, 23:01 stop keeping them, start sending them. 23:08 It's not your seating capacity. 23:10 It's not how many arrows you have in the quiver. 23:12 It's how many you're shooting. 23:15 It's how many you're sending 23:16 into the most dangerous places of the earth. 23:18 God help us if the King of the Universe comes back 23:21 and finds our quiver full of arrows 23:23 that could have been sent to the enemy frontlines. 23:25 You want to keep your young people, stop keeping them 23:28 and start sending them. 23:29 Rightly train them and send them. 23:32 Give them work to do for God. 23:33 Amen? Amen. 23:35 Send them out to plant churches. 23:37 By the way, young people can plant churches. 23:38 They're doing it in the South Pacific Division. 23:41 Beautiful pictures of young people 23:42 who have decided to go and plant churches. 23:44 Amen? Amen. 23:45 What if we planted churches in every university in Texas 23:48 and every university in your area? 23:50 What if we started planting churches with young people, 23:53 like arrows in the hands of a warrior? 23:55 You know, I've noticed as I traveled around, 23:57 there are three areas 23:58 that I believe we really need to focus 24:01 sending our beautiful young people in that direction. 24:04 By the way, you know what Jesus said, 24:05 if you're willing to lay down your life for Him, 24:07 you'll actually find it. 24:09 So Jesus is not calling us to die in the negative sense. 24:12 He's calling us to die that we might live, 24:15 that we might really experience life. 24:18 There will be times when we lay down our lives. 24:20 You know, it breaks my heart, just earlier this year, 24:22 we heard about Berni Kunu, a 24-year-old young man 24:26 who was supposed to be married this month 24:29 laid down his life in Papua, Indonesia in 2018 in March. 24:36 Laid down his life, and what was his crime? 24:38 Going to the most remote part of that area 24:41 and trying to heal people in the name of Jesus, 24:44 and he was murdered. 24:46 But, you know what's interesting 24:47 when they wrote about his report? 24:49 They actually said that 24:50 so many young people showed up to his funeral and signed up. 24:53 "We want to go. We want to serve God. 24:55 We want to be missionaries for the Master." 24:57 Young people are designed to live dangerously. 24:59 You mark my words, they were designed for this. 25:02 And the reason we lose young people 25:03 is we try to keep them safe instead of challenging them. 25:07 They live dangerously for the Lord Jesus. 25:08 Amen? 25:10 The first place we need to target 25:12 is we need to target the cities of the world. 25:13 Can you say cities? Cities. 25:15 In fact, Jesus right here, in His beautiful... 25:18 Verse eight here, 25:21 He starts with a city, Jerusalem. 25:22 That's where we need to start. It's the cities. 25:24 Amen? 25:25 The cities of the world. 25:27 I could give you tons of quotes 25:28 that Ellen White has given us on this. 25:29 But do you know that 25:31 at least 50% of the world population lives in cities, 25:34 and the other 50% are dependent on the cities. 25:37 You know, people, we desperately need 25:39 to see One Year in Mission starting in all of our cities. 25:42 I praise God for One Year in Mission. 25:44 You just saw a video on this. 25:45 Young people like you are getting together in teams 25:48 and taking a year off to reach the city 25:50 through Christ method alone, which is, what is His method? 25:54 To sympathize and serve, right? 25:57 Socialize, sympathize, serve and to save, 25:59 young people reaching the cities, 26:01 we've got to reach the cities 26:03 in these last days, very important. 26:06 The other area that we need to target 26:07 is we need to target the universities. 26:09 Can you say amen? Amen. 26:11 We need to send our young people 26:12 to the most dangerous places of the earth 26:14 and the universities have become like this. 26:16 But our young people must go like Daniel did. 26:18 Amen? 26:19 By the way, I really appreciate Adventist Christian Fellowship, 26:23 which is the PCM, 26:25 which is the branch of PCM here in the North American Division. 26:28 Adventist Christian Fellowship, this is where you get trained, 26:31 these young people go into the universities 26:33 and reach the people for Jesus. 26:35 By the way, do you know what the first PCM group was? 26:39 It's actually found in Daniel 1. 26:42 Daniel and his three friends, 26:44 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, 26:45 they went to where? 26:47 The University of what? 26:49 Babylon. They're the first PCM team. 26:51 They target the worst and the most wicked city of all, 26:54 and they go in there and they stand for Jesus. 26:57 They live dangerously for Christ. 27:00 And they actually are able to influence Nebuchadnezzar, 27:02 the greatest leader of that time. 27:04 Do you know that in every university around the world, 27:07 there are people that are staying up late at night 27:09 like Nebuchadnezzar? 27:10 They understand the times they're living in, 27:12 and they have no hope, and they don't know what to do. 27:16 But PCM teams, they go into those universities, 27:19 and they help people hear the wonderful news 27:21 of the Second Coming of Jesus. 27:22 Amen? Amen. 27:24 And call them to Christ. 27:25 We need to target the cities. 27:28 We need to target the universities. 27:30 And, people, can I just be blunt with you? 27:31 We must target the 10/40 window. 27:35 We have neglected this window for far too long. 27:39 I am afraid that Jesus would have to apologize 27:43 to the people living from North Africa 27:45 through the Middle East Asia if He came back 27:47 and they've never heard the message. 27:50 You know, the 2/3 of the world's population 27:53 lives in the 10/40 window 27:55 and 90% have never heard the everlasting gospel? 28:01 Folks, we must target the 10/40 window. 28:06 There is a great call now for carpenters to go there, 28:09 for builders to go there, for doctors to go there, 28:13 for businessmen to go there. 28:14 Some of these places are too dangerous for you to go 28:17 as a "missionary" or as a "pastor" 28:19 or as an "evangelist," 28:20 but you can go as a businessman, businesswoman. 28:25 We must reach these cities. 28:27 You'd say, "Pastor Gary, Jesus would never 28:30 call people to live dangerously, would He?" 28:32 Well, didn't He say to His disciples, 28:34 "I send you out among wolves"? 28:35 That sounds pretty dangerous. 28:37 You know what Jesus said, "Don't go stupid though." 28:42 That's my translation. 28:44 He said, "I send you out among wolves, 28:46 but don't go stupid, go like the Waldensians did." 28:49 Amen? 28:50 Wise as serpents, strategic. 28:53 Amen? 28:54 And as gentle as Jesus or the Holy Spirit. 28:56 Amen? Or as a dove. 28:57 Come on now. 28:59 God is calling us to live dangerously for Him. 29:01 I don't know if maybe you've heard the story 29:03 of the husband and wife that went to the dentist one day. 29:07 And the wife spoke to the dentist, 29:08 and the dentist says, "Okay. 29:09 How can I help you?" 29:11 And she said, "Yes, we need a cavity removed, 29:12 but we don't want any Novocain, no painkiller, nothing. 29:16 We got to have this cavity removed, no painkiller." 29:20 Doctor said, "That's weird. 29:21 But okay, show me the cavity." 29:23 She turned to her husband and said, 29:24 "Show him your tooth, dear." 29:30 Many of us are very happy to let J.N. Andrews, 29:37 and Abram La Rue, 29:42 or Berni Kunu 29:43 go through the suffering and the pain 29:45 that others might live, while we sit back 29:48 and we watch the next series on Netflix. 29:58 It got off a little quiet in here. 29:59 It's a little concerning. 30:02 We need to get serious. Amen? 30:05 You know, I got to tell you something, 30:06 it's okay to be SDA. 30:08 I just wanted to tell you that, I just wanted to say that. 30:10 It's okay to be SDA. Can you say it? 30:12 It's okay to be SDA. 30:14 How come you can't say that with more passion? 30:15 It's okay to be SDA. It's okay to be SDA. 30:19 Are you proud to be a Seventh-day Adventist? 30:20 Amen. 30:22 Listen, I got to tell you something. 30:23 We're not better than the other denominations. 30:26 We're not. 30:27 We're not better. 30:29 But God gave us, listen to me, a greater responsibility. 30:35 Do you know what Sister White says, 30:37 "The most solemn," and I'm quoting, 30:39 "The most solemn ever... 30:42 most solemn message ever given to mortals was given to us." 30:48 Amen. 30:51 No, we're not better, 30:52 but we have a greater responsibility. 30:53 Thank you very much. 30:55 And we can be proud, 30:56 well, we can also be humble and realize that, 30:58 "Yes, God trusted us with just a simple message, 31:02 but we have not gone." 31:05 Our cities are almost entirely neglected. 31:08 And there are some places in the 10/40 window 31:11 where there's not even an Adventist. 31:13 And here people say things like, 31:14 "Well, you know what, you know, 31:16 they don't listen to people foreigners. 31:17 We foreigners can't go there. 31:18 You know, we got to work with the indigenous people." 31:20 Guess what, there are no indigenous people to work with. 31:24 If somebody does not go from here 31:25 and raise that people there, 31:29 there will be some countries that won't even be reached. 31:31 We go to get serious. 31:33 Young people, you need to go to the booths. 31:34 And what do you say at the booths? 31:36 The booths. 31:37 Sign up for a ministry. 31:38 Sign up for a mission. 31:40 Get serious this weekend. 31:41 What do you say? Amen. 31:43 I hope all of you are gonna go to Iceland. 31:45 I've always wanted to go to Iceland. 31:47 This is my big chance. 31:48 That's connected to the end of the earth, right? 31:53 We'll see. 31:56 I don't know if you noticed the fires in California, 32:00 devastating fires, over 1,000 people missing. 32:06 Paradise, that area there, 32:08 I understand they lost their entire Church. 32:09 And most of them, 32:11 all of the members lost their homes. 32:13 And the tragedy of this was, it was beyond the pale. 32:18 And somebody sent me a tweet. 32:19 I saw it was so... 32:21 It just moved my heart. 32:23 It was a woman who sent this tweet out. 32:25 And it's kind of gone viral everywhere. 32:27 And somebody sent it to me, I hope it's true. 32:30 But in the tweet it says, 32:33 "Whoever honked their horn..." 32:35 This is the woman that escaped the fires. 32:37 The tweet said, "Whoever honked their horn obnoxiously 32:39 at 2:00 in the morning and woke me up, thank you. 32:43 You saved my life." Amen. 32:47 Isn't it interesting? 32:48 That the three angles' message is a loud message, 32:51 it's almost like God is honking, 32:53 warning the world. 32:54 The three angels' message is not for you, it's for them. 33:00 Acts 1:8 is for you. 33:03 Revelation 14 is for them. 33:04 They must hear the message. 33:06 We must be faithful like Noah was. 33:08 We must be faithful like Jonah eventually became. 33:11 But we must preach the most solemn message 33:15 ever given to mortals to the world. 33:17 Amen. 33:19 We lost the arrows out of the quiver. 33:22 We must go into the most dangerous places of the earth. 33:25 Young people, you don't have to wait for a mighty warrior, 33:27 like your youth pastor or whatever to send you. 33:28 If God is calling you, don't ask for permission. 33:31 Go. Amen. 33:32 The reason Jonathan was able to beat the Philistines 33:35 is because he didn't ask permission, 33:36 he just went with his armor bearer. 33:39 Go. 33:40 God is calling you. Go. 33:42 Be an arrow, straight and true. 33:43 They need to hear the most solemn message 33:44 ever given to morals. 33:48 You know, 33:51 we've been so blessed to have a wonderful Savior, 33:52 haven't we? 33:55 You know, 33:56 I've often wondered 33:58 what happened to the missionary zeal. 34:00 I mean, don't get me wrong, 34:02 there are missionaries out there on fire for God 34:03 in some of the most remote places of the earth. 34:05 I just shared an example of one of them. 34:07 But overall, how many? 34:08 Twenty million Seventh-day Adventists, 34:10 I mean how fast could we move if we all went, right? 34:16 I've wrestled with that why. 34:19 And I believe that there is a philosophy 34:22 floating around, 34:24 it's a sinister little philosophy. 34:26 And if we don't pay attention, 34:29 it can eat the heart 34:32 out of missionary passion. 34:36 It's called pluralism. 34:39 Let me tell you what it is. 34:40 Pluralism goes like this, 34:42 "Hey, listen, 34:43 all religions are equal and valid." 34:46 Did you hear me? 34:48 Or "There are many paths to God." 34:51 Or "We shouldn't judge others. 34:53 God knows their heart." 34:55 Or "Preach the gospel. 34:58 Use words if necessary." 35:02 It's pluralism. 35:03 It's eating the heart of our mission. 35:05 We go to preach the gospel. 35:06 People aren't just saved by your life, 35:08 they're saved by Jesus. 35:11 Silent witness is an oxymoron. 35:15 Yes, we are to shape our lives 35:17 that we truly serve the Lord. 35:18 Amen? Amen. 35:20 Our lives need to get credibility to our words, 35:22 but, people, we go to speak, we got to open our mouths. 35:25 Amen. 35:26 People are not gonna be saved by your good behavior. 35:30 Amen. 35:32 People will be saved by His good behavior, 35:36 His righteousness, not yours. 35:43 I like preaching to you guys, 35:44 but my blood pressure's going up. 35:46 Calming down here. 35:50 You know, 35:52 if there were many paths to God, 35:53 then why the Cross? 35:55 Is that just some mean experiment God placed on Jesus? 35:59 "Jesus, you go ahead and die on the cross, 36:00 but there's gonna be other opportunities, 36:02 you don't need to find the way to... 36:03 the word for excruciating pain comes from out of the cross," 36:07 It means out of the cross, excruciating. 36:10 He just allowed His Son to go through that 36:15 because there are other paths to God? 36:16 No, the cross proved that there are no other paths to God 36:19 except for Jesus. 36:20 "I am the way, the truth, and the life. 36:23 No man comes to the Father but by me," said Jesus. 36:25 Come on now. Amen. 36:28 You see, what pluralism is, 36:30 it's an attack at the Cross of Jesus. 36:33 It's a satanic attack at the Cross. 36:37 Yeah, there may be many paths to God, 36:39 but only one will actually get you to Him. 36:46 And if there's many paths to God, 36:48 then why Gethsemane? 36:50 I mean, that seems like a great time for God 36:51 to let Jesus in on a secret. 36:55 Jesus said, "Lord, if it is possible, 36:58 is there's any other way for people to be saved, 37:00 take this cup from me. 37:01 Nevertheless, not my will, but thine." 37:03 And that was God's perfect time to say, 37:05 "And guess what, Islam, Buddhism, 37:07 anything else, there's other options. 37:09 Jesus, stand up, it's gonna be okay." 37:11 But you know what, Jesus gets silenced 37:13 'cause there's no other way. 37:16 This brilliant God that can figure out 37:18 a lot of ways to get me out of trouble 37:20 could only come up with one way to us, 37:22 and that's it. 37:23 There's no other way. 37:25 It's Jesus. 37:26 The Bible says the world was already condemned 37:28 and they were already heading for destruction. 37:29 But God came up with a way to save Muslims, 37:32 and Hindus, and Christians, and Seventh-day Adventists 37:36 through His Son Jesus who died on the cross. 37:39 That's His plan. 37:41 God came up with a plan to save us. 37:42 That's how wonderful He is. 37:46 This is why we need God's power in our lives. 37:48 Amen? 37:49 This is why we need His vision, 37:52 and this is why we need His provision, 37:54 which is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. 37:56 A friend of mine was telling me one day 37:57 that he was driving down the road heading to church 37:59 and he noticed that in the middle of the road 38:02 was a mother duck and all of her little babies. 38:05 And the mother duck had been run over and was dead, 38:08 but all the little babies were clutched around her 38:10 and moving around very scared around her. 38:12 They didn't know what to do. And the cars are going by. 38:14 And he drove and he saw this, 38:15 and he was like, "Oh, my goodness." 38:16 And he pulls over. 38:18 He's like, "Oh, I got to do something to help them." 38:19 He's looking both ways, he gets 38:20 one of those igloos out of the back. 38:22 You guys in Texas know about this, those igloos, right? 38:24 Big old igloos. 38:25 Takes his big old ice chest, he runs out 38:27 and he looks both ways, 38:28 he starts to scoop all the ducks 38:31 inside the igloo and take them back to safety. 38:35 And they all get in there but one of them. 38:38 One of them is scared to death of him, 38:40 and so he goes running of as fast as he can 38:42 into the brush where it's even more dangerous. 38:46 So the guy goes and puts the other ducks in there, 38:48 and he goes running and trying to find this other little duck, 38:50 trying to make all kinds of duck sounds, 38:52 I don't know if he tried some Donald Duck stuff, 38:53 I don't know. 38:55 But the duck kept going further and further 38:57 and getting more and more in dangerous situation. 39:01 Finally, the guy had an idea. 39:03 He went back to his car, true story, 39:06 reached in there and grabbed one of his siblings. 39:09 Crossed the road, 39:11 held the little duck in his hand, 39:12 and the little duck started quacking. 39:15 And sure enough, his little sister came out 39:17 when it heard her brother or whatever it was calling. 39:23 He was able to save them. 39:25 What an incredible story! 39:27 What an incredible story about what God has called us to do. 39:30 "And you shall see power 39:32 when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, 39:34 and you should be witnesses of Me. 39:39 Jerusalem and Judea and to the ends of the earth." 39:41 Can you say amen? Amen. 39:43 See, it's our job to go out there and tell people 39:45 what God is like, 39:46 and to show them what He's like, 39:48 and tell about the cross, 39:49 the only way God provided for the salvation of man. 39:52 God's vision is we go to the ends 39:54 and tell them it's the only way out of here, it's Jesus. 40:05 God's vision, 40:08 God's provision. 40:10 Very interested in Acts 1:8. 40:12 It does not say that you achieve the Holy Spirit. 40:14 I know a lot of people are seemed to be praying 40:16 as if they're trying to achieve the right 40:17 to receive the Holy Spirit. 40:19 "If I just pray harder, 40:20 I can achieve the baptism of the Holy Spirit." 40:22 But that's not what Jesus says here. 40:24 He says, "But you shall receive power," 40:30 not achieve power. 40:31 That's how the world does it. 40:33 You achieve power 40:35 and then you witness for yourself. 40:38 That's the world's way. 40:40 But the Bible says here 40:41 that the way we get baptized with the Holy Spirit 40:44 is we receive the Holy Spirit. 40:46 Every morning, here at GYC, 40:48 when you see young people gathering around praying, 40:50 they're not trying to achieve the Holy Spirit, 40:52 they're opening up their hearts to what? 40:55 Receive, emptying self that they might receive. 40:59 Coming into one accord, confessing their sins, 41:02 not to achieve, but to what? 41:06 People, we need young people, 41:07 we need to be gathering together 41:08 around in small groups, 41:10 need to find our own Upper Room, 41:11 and we need to be receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. 41:16 And you'd be receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. 41:22 You know, I believe very soon 41:24 that God is gonna launch a movement 41:26 around this world like we've never seen before. 41:30 But we need to not wait for that day. 41:33 We need to begin now 41:35 praying for the filling of the Holy Spirit upon our lives 41:38 that we might be empowered to go. 41:39 Amen? 41:41 Isn't it so interesting? 41:42 Isn't it so wonderful that 41:44 Jesus did not leave us with the Force from Star Wars? 41:48 I know a lot of people today talk about the Holy Spirit 41:50 as being a force. 41:51 I don't agree with that. 41:53 I tell you why I don't agree with that 'cause Jesus doesn't. 41:56 Over and over again, 41:57 and you can read for yourself in John 14-16, 42:00 Jesus uses a personal pronoun to describe the Holy Spirit. 42:06 He did not leave us with a force, 42:08 He left us with a dear, wonderful, 42:10 powerful, Christ-like, God-glorifying person. 42:16 Amen. 42:18 And don't let anybody rob you of that. 42:20 Jesus didn't make you an orphan. 42:23 By the way, Jesus can be closer with you 42:26 that even was with the disciples now 42:28 through the Holy Spirit. 42:29 You don't cry a tear, sister, 42:32 that the Holy Spirit doesn't know about. 42:34 All right, check it out for yourself, 42:36 the last verse of 2 Corinthians says 42:38 that we can actually have fellowship 42:39 with the Holy Spirit, 42:40 intimacy with the Holy Spirit. Come on! 42:43 Also, right there in that last verse, 42:45 it also puts the Holy Spirit right in the Holy Trinity 42:48 right there in the last verse of 2 Corinthians. 42:50 Amen? Amen. 42:54 What a wonderful God we serve. 42:55 He didn't leave us as orphans. 42:57 He gave us the power of the Holy Spirit, 42:58 the comforter, the helper. 43:00 Come on. Amen? 43:01 But I don't know 43:03 how you could not see the person of the Holy Spirit 43:04 read the book of Acts. 43:06 Guys, He directs the church, He leads the church, 43:09 He tells them to go, He tells them not to go. 43:12 He whispers in the ear where they need to share, 43:14 where they need to step back, the Holy Spirit is in control. 43:16 In fact, some people have said, "The book was named wrong. 43:19 It should have been called The Acts of the Holy Spirit." 43:22 Amen. 43:23 We desperately need The Acts of the Holy Spirit again. 43:25 Amen? 43:26 We need to come together in one accord as a people. 43:30 We need to receive the Holy Spirit 43:32 by emptying ourselves 43:33 of all of our petty issues with each other. 43:38 Look, I get the fact that iron needs to sharp an iron, 43:40 I get that. 43:42 It's all right if there's a little sparks 43:43 that fly back and forth. 43:44 Can you say amen? Amen. 43:46 But when you begin to mock, and malign, 43:48 and mistreat the church, you should step back. 43:51 Amen. 43:53 Let me tell you why 43:55 because I'm married. 43:59 When I got married, I learned something. 44:02 You can say whatever you want about me, 44:06 but you talk about my wife... 44:09 Let me put this in Texas terms. 44:12 We might have to throw down. 44:14 Amen. 44:16 The church is God's wife. Amen. 44:27 I might need an escape car or something. 44:43 You know, somebody once said something very powerful. 44:45 He said, 44:47 "If it wasn't for the cross, 44:50 only God would know how much He loves us." 44:56 Think about that. 44:59 He said, "The cross 45:00 will refine the God's incredible love for us." 45:01 Amen? Amen. 45:04 Also, we refined our hatred towards sin 45:06 because we see what sin did to the Son of God 45:07 and what He took for us. 45:09 Amen? 45:10 So at the cross, we experience God's love. 45:16 You know, I love that little phrase in Amazing Facts, 45:18 not Amazing Facts, that too, 45:20 but in the song "Amazing Grace," 45:23 "T' was grace that taught my heart to fear, 45:27 and grace my fears relieved." 45:32 You know, what the Bible's saying there, 45:33 you know what that verse is saying? 45:35 That hymn I should say is saying, 45:36 here's what it's saying. 45:38 The hymn is saying this, 45:39 "That it was grace that taught us to fear." 45:41 In other words, "Out of kindness, 45:43 God warned the world of what is coming upon the earth." 45:46 He warned us out of kindness, grace His kindness, 45:49 out of kindness, He taught our hearts to fear, 45:51 He taught us to know that the end of the world is near. 45:54 The cities of the world will be destroyed. 45:56 Those in the 10/40 window without Jesus 45:59 will die without God and without hope. 46:01 He has taught our heart to fear, His grace, 46:03 His love has warned us. 46:06 But 46:09 His grace 46:11 for those who believe 46:14 has caused, 46:15 has relieved our fears. 46:16 Amen? 46:18 Because we know that on the cross, 46:20 Jesus Christ took the punishment, 46:22 and condemnation, 46:23 and the wrath of God in our place, 46:25 and that's the way the Father wanted it. 46:27 He wanted all of us to be saved. 46:28 Come on. Amen. 46:29 Can you give Him glory? Amen. 46:35 God is good. Is He not? 46:37 All the time. All the time. 46:38 Preach it. 46:48 I'll never forget a situation 46:50 that happened to me many years ago, 46:51 many, many, many years ago. 46:53 My mom told me not to play with matches. 46:57 I don't know if you've ever had a Mom like that. 46:59 Now my wife tells me 47:01 not to play with matches, just as... 47:02 I'll tell you something there but... 47:06 Don't play with matches. 47:08 And so with my simple nature as it is, 47:11 I decided to play with some matches. 47:15 And I went out front of the house 47:17 or in the back of the house actually, 47:19 I started to light little fires with the grass. 47:20 It was a very dry time of year in Ohio. 47:23 Anybody here from Ohio? 47:25 Okay, good. 47:26 I'm safe, I can keep going. All right. 47:29 And I started a little fire, and it blew up, 47:31 and then I would put the fire out. 47:34 Felt really good. Yeah. 47:37 My mom doesn't know anything. 47:39 Light another fire. 47:41 This time, I spun around. 47:43 It got a little bigger. 47:45 Yeah. Yep. 47:48 My mom doesn't know anything. 47:51 Then I don't know what I was thinking. 47:53 I wasn't thinking, okay? 47:56 I lit a fire, 47:58 and I decided to run around the house. 48:05 Now about here, I feel this gust of wind 48:08 and realized the terrible mistake I had made. 48:12 Come around the other side. 48:14 The whole backyard is on fire. 48:18 The only good news about it 48:20 is the fire is heading to the neighbor's house, not ours. 48:26 My mother comes running out, 48:28 "Oh, you're so in trouble, Gary," 48:29 and we started to fight the flames. 48:31 "Hi, Mom." I know she's watching. 48:32 And we are fighting the flames. Whoa! 48:34 Trying to stop the fire. 48:36 And finally, we just called the fire department in Monnett, 48:39 Ohio, and they never had anything this exciting before. 48:44 They had a brand new fire truck, 48:46 brand new cop car, 48:48 everybody was clean and neat. 48:49 We just saw a dust cloud coming our way. 48:52 Those guys got out, 48:54 started to spray down the fire, 48:57 and they put it out in no time, 48:59 and they all walked around me. 49:05 They said, "Kid..." That's a Texas accent, but... 49:08 "Kid, 49:11 stop playing with matches. 49:14 Listen to your mother." 49:16 For the many years later after that, 49:18 I'm sure I was known as Pyro Boy in that town. 49:22 I tell you that story because there's gonna come a day 49:25 when the devil's gonna screw up. 49:29 He's not gonna be paying attention to the fire, 49:31 he's gonna run around, 49:32 he's not gonna be looking around, 49:33 and there'll be some young people in Texas, 49:36 there'll be some young people in dorm rooms, 49:38 there'll be some people on the Internet, 49:40 there'll be some young people in their churches 49:42 that will come together 49:44 and they'll pray for God's vision and God's provision. 49:47 And He will be running around the side of the house. 49:49 One latter rain will hit, whoa! 49:51 He'll realize his mistake. 49:52 He'll come around the corner. It's too late. 49:55 Revelation 18:1. Boom, boom! 49:59 And the whole earth is lit up with His glory. 50:02 I don't know about you, 50:04 but I wanna go big so we can go home. 50:08 Young people, I wanna make an appeal right now, 50:10 and then I wanna get off the stage. 50:14 Not just young people, everybody. 50:18 By the way, I want you to all know 50:23 that you're never gonna hear me say 50:24 the youth of the church of today. 50:25 You're never gonna hear me say that, 50:27 "The youth of church of today." 50:29 "The youth of..." 50:31 I'll do other dumb stuff but not that. 50:32 "The church of today." Don't get me wrong. 50:35 The youth are part of the church of today. 50:38 But what about the 80-year-old guy? 50:41 What about the 70-year-old guy? 50:42 What is he on, some kind of retirement plan? 50:46 By the way, did you know something? 50:47 God has no retirement plan. Amen. 50:50 Right? 50:52 If you're still alive, He has a work for you to do. 50:55 Amen. Amen? 50:56 We are all the church of today. 50:58 In fact, Malachi 4 tells us that in the last days, 51:01 there'll be an intergenerational movement. 51:05 Hearts of the fathers will turn to the children. 51:08 Hearts of the children will turn to the fathers. 51:10 Come on. 51:11 Intergenerational movement, 51:13 what that means is the older generation 51:15 must do what Elijah did. 51:18 They must pass on leadership to the younger generation. 51:21 By the way, Elijah didn't wanna do it either. 51:24 How we know is God commanded him 51:25 to throw his mantle around Elisha. 51:27 And it almost seems like Elijah didn't wanna do it. 51:29 Have you noticed? 51:30 He comes up to Elisha and says, "Hey, kid, younger generation." 51:36 Elisha actually has to run after the prophet, 51:39 "Hey, I'll do it. 51:41 I'll do it." 51:42 A lot of our young people are like, 51:44 "I wanna help in church, please." 51:46 And the pastor's running off here, the youth leader. 51:49 No, no, no, no, no. 51:50 I didn't say 51:53 dump it on kids, 51:55 I said pass it on, 51:58 your observation, participation, 52:03 and activation like Jesus did, but pass it on. 52:13 So I want to speak to everybody not just the young. 52:20 If we go to the church right now, 52:22 if we go to the cross right now, 52:24 you'll notice that when they killed... 52:26 When Jesus died on the cross, they put the spear in His side, 52:30 two things flowed out from His side. 52:33 And I don't think there are any mistakes in the Bible, 52:35 there are no unnecessary details, 52:37 there's so much richness and the details in the Bible, 52:40 right? 52:46 Here's the good news, young and old alike, 52:49 if you will go to the cross, 52:53 you'll find it flowing from Christ's side, 52:57 His blood for pardon, for all of your sins. 53:01 There's not a sin in your life that's so stained on you that 53:05 the blood of Jesus can't wash it away. 53:07 I don't know what your problem is. 53:08 Stop running away from Jesus, 53:10 you're running away from the wrong guy. 53:11 He's the Savior. 53:13 Stop trying to take a bath before you take a shower. 53:15 It doesn't make any sense. 53:17 He's the one that claims you. Go to Him as you are. 53:19 Amen. Go to the cross. 53:21 In the mind of faith, go to the cross 53:23 and remember that Jesus washes away your sin. 53:25 You can be free. 53:28 Young people, I wanna appeal to you today. 53:30 If it is your desire right now 53:32 to have Jesus wash away your sins, 53:34 I wanna invite you to come forward right now, 53:36 and I want you to come symbolically 53:37 like you're coming to the cross. 53:39 "Jesus, my sin I bring before you. 53:41 Wash it away in Your blood, Jesus. 53:43 I'm coming right now as I am. 53:45 I'm not trying to clean my life up first. 53:46 I'm coming as I am." 53:49 You know what Ellen White says, 53:50 "You don't even have to be repentant 53:52 to come to God." 53:53 Did you know that? 53:55 Ellen White does not say you have to be repentant 53:57 to come to God. 53:58 She says, "If you go to Him, He'll give you repentance." 54:01 Come on. There's the gift. 54:06 Maybe some of you are here today 54:08 that wanna say, "Jesus, 54:09 yes, I say yes to Your vision to go to the ends of the earth. 54:13 I see the vision that You have, divine vision. 54:18 Oh, God, I have my mind on that vision." 54:21 If you wanna say yes to God's vision, 54:24 "You should be witnesses of Me to the end." 54:28 I wanna invite you to come forward as well. 54:32 Maybe you're coming forward 54:33 and maybe you've already come forward too. 54:35 You can vote twice by the way here. 54:37 If you are thinking to yourself, 54:40 "Oh, God, I know your vision, I love your vision, 54:44 but I really need your provision. 54:46 I want you to fill me with the Holy Spirit. 54:50 I want to be filled with Jesus." 54:55 You know, the devil's not afraid of any of us here, 54:59 but he is afraid of Jesus in you. 55:01 And he doesn't just have to deal with Jesus now. 55:03 He has to deal with Jesus in everybody 55:05 who's filled with His Spirit. 55:06 That's pretty scary. 55:08 That's like Halloween for the devil. 55:10 That's scary for him. 55:11 That's why Sister White says, 55:13 "There's nothing Satan fears more. 55:15 And the people of God shall remove every hindrance, 55:18 and that God might pour His Spirit 55:20 upon a languishing Church and an impenitent congregation. 55:25 And she even said that, 55:27 "Satan's worst nightmare is that you get 55:28 filled with the Holy Spirit." 55:30 Now he's got to deal with Jesus in you, 55:31 His words, His wonders, and His works. 55:37 You know, maybe some of you are here today 55:39 that need to be baptized 55:40 because, you know, that's your first step. 55:41 By the way, 55:43 you don't have to be baptized in water first 55:45 to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. 55:46 Can you say amen? Amen. 55:48 We know in the book of Acts, 55:49 it sometimes works the other way. 55:50 Sometimes, you receive the baptism first 55:52 and then there's water baptism. 55:53 But you know what, water baptism is the first step 55:55 as a missionary. 55:56 You want to take that first step to be part of God's 55:58 discipleship movement. 56:00 This movement has Spirit-filled missionaries to the end. 56:04 You need be baptized with the Holy Spirit 56:06 if that's your passion. 56:11 I want you to invite you to be baptized today. |
