00:33 Let's all rise for our opening song,
00:35 our theme song, 00:37 "This witness I will bear." 01:02 Have you heard the story told 01:06 Of the Man whose heart was sold 01:10 To save my dying soul? 01:14 Oh, what love untold 01:19 To the end He's always sought me 01:23 To the end He's always loved me 01:27 To the end I long to follow 01:31 For He bore my cross of sorrow 01:36 I will stay here in the hollow of His care 01:41 And I will go anywhere 01:46 To the end 01:48 This witness I will bear 01:53 To the end 02:01 In the grove I heard Him say 02:05 "Oh my Father please just stay" 02:09 Through broken hearted pain 02:14 He did pave the way 02:18 To the end His heart is faithful 02:22 To the end His hand is able 02:26 To the end I can now follow 02:30 For He bore my cross of sorrow 02:34 I will stay here in the hollow of His care 02:40 And I will go anywhere 02:45 To the end 02:47 This witness I will bear 02:51 To the end 03:00 As they took Him off to die 03:04 There His friendship I denied 03:08 Forgiveness in His eyes 03:12 He did not despise 03:16 To the end His love constrains me 03:20 To the end He has restored me 03:24 To the end I will still follow 03:29 For He bore my cross of sorrow 03:33 I will stay here in the hollow of His care 03:38 And I will go anywhere 03:43 To the end 03:45 This witness I will bear 03:50 This witness I will bear 03:56 To the end 04:08 Thank you for singing, you may be seated. 04:11 Good evening, GYC. 04:14 How many of you are feeling blessed right now? 04:18 How many of you enjoyed outreach? 04:20 I love to see all those smiling faces 04:22 and those hands raised. 04:24 We're so happy to have you back here 04:26 again with us tonight. 04:27 And we're excited about what God has to share 04:30 through our speakers. 04:31 And so I just wanted to welcome all of you 04:34 give you a warm welcome, 04:35 and I'm gonna let our president share a few words. 04:38 All right. 04:40 Well, I hope you've had a blessed day going on outreach 04:44 and God has been good 04:45 and giving you divine appointments as well. 04:48 Well, today, tonight, 04:49 we have a very special program 04:51 and we also have a very special guest 04:56 who be sharing some very important words with us. 04:59 His name is Elder Ted Wilson. 05:02 He is the president of our church 05:04 and he is one who loves the young people 05:09 and he took time off of his schedule 05:12 so that he could come here to GYC 05:14 and share some words of wisdom with us. 05:18 Before he takes the stage and addresses us, 05:21 we want to have a word of prayer together. 05:24 Let us pray. 05:26 Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You so much 05:28 for the opportunity of being alive today. 05:31 We thank You that we can be Seventh-day Adventists 05:35 and believe in a sure message, 05:38 in a sure savior 05:40 who will be coming very soon. 05:42 Please be with us Lord and bless Elder Wilson, 05:45 as he addresses us today. 05:47 In Jesus' name we pray, amen. 05:56 What a privilege it is to be with GYC this year. 06:00 I want to thank all of you 06:04 for the tremendous effort you've made in reaching out 06:09 to the people of Houston. 06:11 For those of you who went out today 06:13 with the outreach, 06:14 praise God for what you were able to do 06:18 in touching the lives of many, many people. 06:22 You are truly GYC workers for God. 06:28 And I want to thank you 06:29 for that in a very, very special way 06:31 and thank Pastor Moise Ratsara and his team 06:37 for the tremendous work that GYC is doing. 06:41 And what a privilege it is to be here with the theme 06:45 "to the end." 06:48 To the end of time, to the ends of the earth, 06:50 an opportunity for you to focus on what that marvelous verse 06:55 in Acts 1:8 points out 06:58 that the Holy Spirit will give power 07:02 not only to those who are waiting at that time, 07:05 but power to you and to me 07:08 because we are living in the very, very end of time. 07:13 We are humbly placing ourselves before the Lord 07:17 as His waiting disciples were at that time. 07:21 The mission is ahead of us. 07:24 And I believe with all my heart 07:25 that we are headed 07:27 into the very last end of time setting 07:32 and that Christ's return is imminent. 07:37 That's why we need to proclaim His Word, 07:41 His righteousness, 07:43 His sanctuary service, 07:45 His saving power in the great controversy, 07:48 His three angels' messages, 07:50 His health message, 07:51 His last day mission to the world 07:54 including the need 07:56 to plead for the latter rain of the Holy Spirit. 08:00 I want to encourage each of you in your small groups, 08:04 and in your areas where you're staying 08:07 to pray for the latter rain of the Holy Spirit 08:11 and to fix your goals 08:13 upon only that which heaven will bless. 08:17 It was a privilege for me to spend a little time 08:19 with the activate GYC 08:23 just before this. 08:25 Each of us has, we have goals, 08:28 we have a mission in store for us. 08:31 Let's make sure that it's in line 08:33 with what the Lord wants. 08:36 And let's proclaim Christ's soon second coming. 08:41 I want to personally thank each of you and GYC 08:45 for your very strong support of God's worldwide church 08:51 and its mission to prepare people 08:54 through the Holy Spirit's power 08:56 for Christ's Second Advent. 08:59 And I'm very grateful for your commitment 09:01 and for your very humble support 09:05 of God's great church. 09:08 I want to tell you tonight 09:09 that I am a very good courage in the Lord. 09:15 I hope you are as well. 09:17 And I want to thank you for your prayers 09:19 and how you have supported God's church 09:22 and will do so in the future. 09:25 I want to share tonight just a few aspects 09:27 that I shared 09:28 at our recent Annual Council in Battle Creek, 09:32 some poignant information 09:37 that I want you to take as a personal message 09:41 as we move forward to the end 09:44 under the blessing of heaven. 09:47 In the Book of Hebrews chapter 10 09:51 verses 23, 24 and 25. 09:55 It tells us here and Paul is speaking. 09:59 I believe that Paul wrote the Book of Hebrews. 10:03 In verses 23, 24 and 25, it says, 10:06 "Let us hold fast 10:08 the confession of our hope 10:10 without wavering, 10:12 for He who promised is faithful. 10:17 And let us consider one another 10:18 in order to stir up love and good works, 10:21 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, 10:25 as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, 10:29 and so much the more 10:31 as you see the Day approaching." 10:35 And I want to tell you, GYC, 10:37 the day is approaching 10:39 when the Lord will come in all of His glory. 10:43 What an opportunity for GYC to be involved 10:46 in this tremendous outreach to the world. 10:50 The Lord has been leading His people, 10:53 and He is about to accomplish the final work 10:56 through them to proclaim the three angels' messages 11:00 and the fourth angel of Revelation 18, 11:04 calling people out of confusion 11:06 and into full Bible truth. 11:10 You see the three angels' messages 11:11 have at the very core of those messages, 11:15 the righteousness of Jesus Christ 11:18 and turning people back to the true worship of God. 11:23 GYC, I want you to remember 11:25 how God has led this movement, 11:29 not only the Advent movement, 11:31 but the GYC movement in the past, 11:34 and gain from that confidence 11:37 that God will do the same in the future. 11:41 We're reminded of that wonderful promise 11:43 in Life Sketches, 11:45 page 196, where it says that, 11:49 "We have nothing to fear for the future, 11:51 except that we forget how God has led us 11:55 and His teaching in our past history." 11:59 Don't ever forget how God has led us. 12:04 Today's society is so full of influences 12:08 that seek to derail and destabilize each of us 12:12 from heaven's entrusted mission 12:17 to this Seventh-day Adventist Church, 12:19 this prophetic movement. 12:22 Now many of those in the church 12:27 are at crossroads. 12:30 A crossroad. 12:32 Will they focus upon Christ, 12:35 upon His Word, 12:36 upon the instruction in the Spirit of Prophecy 12:40 on His mission? 12:42 Or will they focus on worldly influences 12:47 that are creeping into so many aspects 12:51 of the church today? 12:53 Theological aspects, lifestyle aspects, 12:57 societal aspects, 13:01 mission, prophetic understanding, 13:04 pride, and self centeredness 13:06 which seems to be creeping into our very church. 13:12 I want to tell you God has His standards, 13:17 so that as you reach to the end of this time 13:21 to the end of the world, God has His standards. 13:25 The standards are found in His Holy Word. 13:29 The standards are found 13:31 in the beautiful life of Jesus Christ 13:34 and how He lived it. 13:36 The standards are found in the instruction 13:38 of the Spirit of Prophecy. 13:41 Eternal standards 13:43 are not set by human beings. 13:47 They're not set by leaders, by pastors, 13:50 by teachers, by others. 13:53 These standards are set by God Himself. 13:58 And I want to thank you for your faithfulness 14:02 to the standards that God has placed before you. 14:06 You are not alone, many others are with you. 14:11 God is with you 14:14 to the end. 14:18 Now let's hold fast that confession 14:21 that Paul was emphasizing in the 10th Chapter 14:24 of the Book of Hebrews. 14:26 Hold fast that confession 14:28 and we will face many obstacles 14:30 and challenges in the way. 14:32 The antagonism that people will throw at us, 14:36 but let's hold fast to God's truth, 14:40 His word, His love for His church. 14:43 This church will not fail. 14:47 This church will not fall apart. 14:52 God's Church of which GYC is a vital part 14:57 will go through to the end. 15:01 I know that God is going to guide you in this, 15:04 I urge you, GYC, 15:07 to plead for the latter rain of the Holy Spirit 15:10 as you see the world around us disintegrating. 15:13 God will pour out His Spirit 15:16 on all those who are humbly receptive 15:20 and conform their lives to His will 15:24 expressed in His Holy Word 15:27 and the instructions of the 15:29 of the wonderful Spirit of Prophecy. 15:32 Let me share a few important points with you 15:35 that I shared at the Annual Council. 15:39 GYC, first of all, 15:42 stand firm for the biblical truth 15:44 that the Godhead is constituted 15:47 by three divine and equal persons 15:50 from eternity to eternity. 15:53 There are those who proclaim some aberrant 15:56 and confusing anti-Trinitarian heresy. 16:00 Our pioneers face that 16:03 and they were led to a right understanding 16:05 by the scriptures 16:06 and the guidance of Ellen White's instructions. 16:09 Hold fast and stand firm for God's truth to the end, 16:14 He is with you. 16:17 Secondly, young people there may be some 16:19 who introduce worldliness 16:22 into personal dress in the lifestyle, 16:25 in the conduct in church life and activities. 16:28 I urge you to stand firm for God's simple truth 16:33 and lifestyle to the end. 16:36 Thirdly, as you engage in reaching the community 16:39 with God's message. 16:40 Always make sure 16:42 that your efforts and outreach are in complete accordance 16:47 with the gospel message and biblical instruction. 16:51 Since certain worldly activities and trends 16:54 are not according to the instruction of the Bible 16:58 and can lead you away from the central focus, 17:02 which is to present Christ. 17:04 Crucified, risen, interceding 17:07 and soon to return to take us home, 17:10 do not allow anything 17:13 to overshadow God's last day message. 17:17 Stand firm for God's truth to the end. 17:22 Number four, you may also face those 17:26 who attempt to neutralize Sabbath observance 17:29 and biblical creation. 17:31 GYC, 17:33 thank you for standing firm 17:36 for God's Word and His truth to the end 17:40 that the earth was created in six literal days 17:44 recently, with the Sabbath as God's creation memorial. 17:48 Let us remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. 17:54 Number five, some of you may encounter those 17:56 who show contempt for anyone wanting to live 17:59 a simple healthy plant-based, 18:04 non alcoholic, non caffeine lifestyle. 18:08 According to the biblical and Spirit of Prophecy counsel, 18:12 young people stand firm for God's truth to the end. 18:18 Number six, GYC, 18:20 summon your local church may manifest 18:22 a strange independence of spirit, 18:25 leading to disunity 18:27 but these challenges 18:30 that you face in God's Church around the world 18:36 can be resisted by God's power in you 18:41 to prevail in presenting God's Word. 18:45 Cling to God's Word to the end. 18:49 Young people, there are influences outside 18:51 and within the church attempting 18:53 to change God's institution 18:56 of biblical marriage between one man and one woman. 19:01 Stand firm for God's Word to the end, 19:05 as it confirms biblical marriage, 19:08 biblical human sexuality 19:10 and the biblical family as instituted by God Himself. 19:15 Number eight, 19:17 there may be those in your local church 19:19 who show a lack of spiritual respect 19:21 for church authority. 19:23 GYC, 19:24 be of good courage 19:26 and stand firm for God's truth 19:29 and His church authority to the end. 19:32 Number nine, you may meet some 19:35 who shared disparaging remarks 19:38 and disinterest in the Spirit of Prophecy. 19:42 My young friends The Spirit of Prophecy, 19:45 is one of God's greatest gifts 19:47 to His last day remnant church. 19:51 Continue to stand firm 19:54 for God's Spirit of Prophecy truth to the end. 19:59 Number 10, 20:01 there may be those who promote unscriptural 20:04 and unsound methods of church growth, 20:07 revealing a distrust for God's Word 20:10 and the inspired counsel. 20:12 Hold fast to God's Word 20:14 and its correct methods of church growth 20:17 in both personal and public evangelism 20:21 to the end. 20:22 Number 11, 20:24 some discard the unique role of God's Advent movement 20:28 in favor of ecumenical activity. 20:31 Avoid ecumenical compromises and stand firm 20:36 for God's unique peculiar truth to the end. 20:41 Number 12, 20:43 in some regions of the world, 20:45 we do have people 20:46 who are facing intense persecution. 20:50 Please pray for them. 20:52 And personally stand firm where you are 20:55 for God's precious truth 20:57 and for religious liberty to the end. 21:01 Number 13, 21:03 some in our church attempt to downplay, distort 21:06 or even destroy Christ provision of righteousness 21:09 by faith 21:11 by denying His justifying and sanctifying power. 21:16 However, God's instruction in Philippians 2:12-13, 21:21 remains relevant to this day 21:25 and it says there, Paul is speaking. 21:27 "Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, 21:29 not as in my presence only, 21:32 but now much more in my absence, 21:34 work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 21:38 for it is God who works in you both to will 21:40 and to do for His good pleasure." 21:43 Now let's be sure to understand 21:46 it is Christ's righteousness, 21:49 both justifying and sanctifying righteousness 21:52 that works in us 21:54 as we humbly submit to Him 21:56 in daily prayer and Bible study. 22:00 We are saved by God's grace through faith alone. 22:04 Now in that beautiful book, Christ's Object Lessons, 22:07 page 69 we read this quotation, 22:10 "Christ is waiting with longing desire 22:13 for the manifestation of Himself in His church. 22:17 When the character of Christ 22:18 shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, 22:21 then He will come to claim them as His own." 22:26 Now, Christ will reproduce in us His character, 22:31 as we daily surrender our will to Him. 22:36 God intends for His remnant people 22:38 to rely completely on Christ, 22:41 His righteousness 22:43 and His ability to save to the uttermost 22:45 through His justifying and sanctifying process, 22:49 all through His righteousness, 22:52 not ours. 22:54 Ellen White indicated in Review and Herald, 22:57 March 10, 1903. 23:03 "Righteousness within 23:04 is testified to by righteousness without. 23:07 He who is righteous within 23:10 is not hard hearted and unsympathetic 23:13 but day by day 23:15 he grows into the image of Christ 23:17 going on from strength to strength. 23:20 He who is being sanctified by the truth 23:22 will be self controlled 23:25 and will follow in the footsteps of Christ, 23:29 until grace is lost in glory. 23:33 The righteousness 23:34 by which we are justified is imputed. 23:37 The righteousness 23:39 by which we are sanctified is imparted. 23:42 The first is our title to heaven, 23:44 the second is our fitness for heaven." 23:51 What a privilege to have the assurance of God's power 23:54 in our lives. 23:56 GYC, 23:57 stand firm for God's truth and His righteousness 24:01 to the end of time. 24:03 Number 14, 24:05 there may be those 24:07 who de-emphasize 24:08 the distinctive Christ centered doctrines of the Bible. 24:12 Criticizing God's prophetic timetable, 24:15 including the pivotal ending of the 2,300 day prophecy 24:20 in 1844. 24:22 However, GYC, 24:25 positively proclaim biblical and prophetic truth. 24:30 Stay the course to the end. 24:33 Preach the Word in season and out of season. 24:38 Young friends, number 15, 24:40 there are those who collapse 24:42 under the complications of daily life 24:44 without allowing God to lead. 24:47 They are turned away from our final mission 24:49 by the distractions of the world. 24:52 However, 24:53 stand firm for God's truth 24:56 and look to Jesus 24:58 in your daily life's activities to the end. 25:04 Number 16, 25:05 make sure that you live and worship 25:07 in the context of worship 25:09 shown in Revelation Chapter 14 25:13 in the throne room of heaven. 25:16 Giving glory to God and Him alone to the end. 25:22 Number 17, GYC, 25:25 there are those who discourage 25:26 and in some instances even forbid 25:28 the wide circulation and distribution 25:31 of heaven inspired books like The Great Controversy. 25:35 Thank you for what you are doing in GYC 25:37 to distribute truth filled literature 25:40 as you did today. 25:43 Ellen White declared 25:44 that The Great Controversy 25:47 was to be distributed more than any other book 25:50 that she ever produced. 25:52 GYC, stand firm 25:54 for the distribution of truth filled literature to the end. 26:00 And finally, number 18. 26:03 Young friends, there are those 26:04 who disparage are hopeful expectation 26:08 to be the last generation before Christ's soon coming. 26:13 I ask, 26:15 who wouldn't want to be part of the last generation 26:19 and see Jesus come in their lifetime? 26:22 What a privilege to realize 26:24 that Christ wants to come back as soon as possible. 26:27 And we can be ready for His coming 26:29 and share this hope 26:31 through complete dependence upon Christ. 26:34 Our works will not save us, 26:37 but dependence on Christ and His justifying 26:40 and sanctifying righteousness will save us 26:43 and make us more and more like Him every day. 26:48 We are united in our hope of Christ's soon return. 26:53 Stand firm for God's truth to the end. 26:58 We have been called to a unique place 27:02 in history as the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 27:06 God intends that His church move forward on the pathway 27:11 to the Eternal City 27:13 that will soon 27:15 be given to each of us by Christ Himself. 27:18 Difficult days lie ahead 27:22 for God's remnant 27:24 as the devil throws everything he can 27:26 against the forward advance of God's Advent movement. 27:30 We know that the Omega, 27:32 the great deception is coming, 27:35 which will test all church members 27:37 to rely completely on God 27:40 to avoid great and overwhelming deception. 27:45 Now just before I close, 27:46 I want to share just a few additional quotations 27:50 from this marvelous book called Christian Service. 27:54 I've been very impressed 27:55 by what I've been reading recently. 27:59 It says here in page 38, 28:00 "The distance is widening between Christ and His people 28:04 and lessening between them and the world. 28:08 The marks of distinction between Christ professed people 28:11 and the world have almost disappeared." 28:17 Is that the case 28:19 in your life and in mine? 28:24 I read from page... 28:30 Here page 51, 28:34 "Satan sees that his time is short. 28:37 He has set all his agencies at work 28:40 that men may be deceived, 28:42 diluted, occupied and entranced 28:46 until the day of probation shall be ended 28:49 and the door of mercy forever shut." 28:52 You see what the devil is trying to do to all of us 28:54 in the church. 28:55 He's trying to deceive, delude, occupy, entrance. 28:59 Keep your eyes focused upon Christ 29:02 and His mission to the end. 29:07 Transgression is almost reached its limit, 29:09 confusion fills the world 29:11 and the great terror is soon to come upon human beings. 29:14 The end is very near. 29:16 We who know the truth 29:18 should be preparing for what is soon to break upon the world 29:22 as an overwhelming surprise. 29:27 And in conclusion, let me read a few more very salient points. 29:33 Satan is now seeking to hold God's people 29:36 in a state of inactivity, 29:38 to keep them from acting their part 29:40 in spreading the truth 29:42 that they may at last be weighed in the balance 29:45 and found wanting 29:48 but then this assurance, 29:50 God's Faithful Messengers, page 56, 29:54 "Are to steadily forward with their work. 29:57 Clothed with the panoply of heaven, 30:00 they are to advance fearlessly and victoriously, 30:03 never ceasing their warfare 30:05 until every soul within their reach 30:07 shall have received the message of truth for this time. 30:13 My dear friends, here at GYC, 30:16 I urge you 30:18 to stay on God's precious path 30:22 leading towards heaven itself. 30:25 Let's stop looking to each other. 30:29 Let's stop looking to outside experts. 30:33 Let's stop looking to worldly influences 30:36 and contemporary business practices. 30:38 Let's stop looking to errant theological thinking. 30:42 Let's stop looking to humanly devise church growth methods 30:46 and let's turn our eyes upon Jesus. 30:51 Jesus is the true leader of this great Advent movement 30:58 and He is the only one that can guide us safely 31:01 to our heavenly home to the end. 31:06 He is coming soon. 31:09 Keep your eyes upon Him 31:11 as you do your work through the Holy Spirit's power 31:14 to the end. 31:16 I want to thank you, GYC, 31:17 for what you are doing 31:19 for God's great Advent movement. 31:23 He will bless you 31:24 during this coming New Year of 2019 31:28 until the end, 31:30 as you focus your attention 31:33 on what He has in store for you to contribute 31:37 in reaching God's great and wonderful plan 31:43 of taking this gospel 31:45 to every corner of the world 31:48 to the ends of the earth. 31:51 Now I want you to listen to those who are gonna follow, 31:55 we're gonna be sharing with you about mission 31:58 to the city's comprehensive health ministry. 32:02 All to the glory of God 32:04 because it is part of God's great plan. 32:09 Brothers and sisters in GYC, 32:11 stand firm for God's truth 32:14 to the end. 32:17 Amen! 32:19 Maranatha. 32:22 Thank you so much Elder Wilson, 32:24 for that challenging and inspiring message. 32:27 Good evening, GYC. 32:29 Truly Jesus is coming soon. Amen? 32:31 Amen. 32:32 And God needs each one of us 32:34 to be a part of His mission to reach the world for Christ. 32:37 Amen. 32:38 Dr. McKey as the assistant to Elder Wilson 32:40 for Total Member Involvement 32:42 and as President of Adventist World Radio, 32:45 you had a special burden 32:46 for bringing together lay people, pastors 32:50 and physicians and healthcare providers 32:53 for a ministry. 32:54 What was that idea? 32:55 We're seeing wonderful things happen. 32:57 Chitungwiza, Dr. Landless and also in Texas, 33:02 right here in Texas over at San Antonio. 33:05 Six new churches there 33:06 because of comprehensive health evangelism. 33:08 With Your Best Pathway to Health. 33:09 Your Best Pathway to Health there. 33:11 It's exciting to see what is happening. 33:12 Mrs. White says 33:14 that the worst evil that can come on the church 33:16 is when doctors and pastors don't work together. 33:18 Can you imagine that? 33:20 Over in the Philippines, 33:21 high in the mountains communist held rebels for 50 years, 33:25 they tried to overthrow the government. 33:27 The last two years we had no churches there. 33:29 Now there are 92 villagers, 33:32 they want to become Seventh-day Adventist. 33:34 I just recently baptized five general rebel communists. 33:38 Amen. 33:39 Laid down their AK-47 and picked up a Bible. 33:41 Awesome. 33:43 And part of the way we reach them 33:44 Dr. McKey was through 33:45 comprehensive health message event, 33:47 and the radio through World Adventist Radio. 33:48 That's right. 33:50 So next to you is a very special person. 33:51 Amen. 33:52 This is Dr. Peter Landless, 33:54 he is our world health ministry's director 33:55 for the General Conference. 33:56 Now Dr. Landless, I've heard you throw this term 33:58 around a little bit, 33:59 it's called comprehensive health ministry. 34:02 How does this relate to AWR 34:05 and to all of these young people 34:07 who are sitting out here today? 34:09 Well, I'm so excited that it is here 34:12 and at this forum 34:13 that has been talked about. 34:15 Comprehensive health ministry means health as a commodity 34:20 being used by every ministry and, Brother Duane, 34:24 thank you for grabbing hold of that 34:28 and wanting to collaborate to partner 34:31 and to bring this amazing opportunity together. 34:35 And why at GYC? 34:38 Because these are the troops 34:40 who are going to take this message 34:42 until Jesus comes. 34:44 Amen. 34:45 Not tomorrow, today. 34:47 Amen. 34:48 And it's of such vital importance 34:52 that we lay hold of this, 34:54 that we collaborate, 34:56 that we do as Jesus instructed us to do. 34:59 In Matthew 9 we are told, 35:02 He went through the villages 35:04 and He was filled with compassion 35:08 because the people were harassed 35:12 like sheep without a shepherd. 35:13 Right. 35:15 And then Ellen White gave this church 35:18 or the Lord gave this church through her, 35:21 a message of comprehensive health ministry 35:26 of reaching people where they are, 35:29 and what a privilege it is for us 35:31 to do it as partners together, 35:34 not only AWR 35:36 but General Conference health ministries, 35:38 Your Best Pathway to Health, 35:40 and as we work together 35:42 more will be done. 35:44 Amen. 35:46 So really what this is about is every part of the church 35:48 should be using health ministry as a part of what they do? 35:51 Well, actually, the blueprint states 35:54 that every member should be 35:59 a comprehensive health worker, 36:02 sharing health and wholeness to all. 36:07 Amen. Amen. 36:08 So that is our opportunity. 36:10 Every church as center of hope and healing. 36:13 Amen. 36:14 So I think that includes all of you. 36:15 Amen? Amen. 36:17 So are you all health evangelists? 36:18 Amen. I think so. 36:19 All right. Dr. Lela. 36:21 Yes. Now you're a medical doctor. 36:22 I am. 36:23 I'm the only non doctor on the stage, 36:25 so I feel a little bit apprehensive. 36:26 We're praying for you. 36:28 Thank you, keep praying for me. 36:29 Dr. Lela, I understand that... 36:30 Well, actually, 36:32 you and I were together this last summer. 36:33 Just a few months ago. 36:35 In Palau in Philippines, 36:36 where we had our first AWR mega medical clinic. 36:39 Tell us what happened? 36:40 You know, it was phenomenal, Pastor Kyle. 36:42 Yes, by God's grace, we saw 10,000 patients. 36:45 It was a Gideon army. How many? 36:46 Ten thousand. Ten thousand. 36:48 With a Gideon army of only 300 volunteers 36:52 but that was pretty exciting. 36:53 But the most exciting thing to me, Pastor Kyle, 36:56 was the opportunity that we had to actually present the gospel 37:01 every day to the patients. 37:03 And on that third day when over 2, 000 people 37:06 raise their hand giving their hearts to Jesus, 37:09 that was the most exciting thing 37:12 I have ever experienced. 37:13 And not only did they raise their hands, 37:15 we then invited them to come 37:16 to the Total Member Involvement AWR evangelistic meetings. 37:18 And so many of them came. 37:20 Remember Pastor Kyle, so many of them came. 37:22 Thousands came and we had over 500 baptisms as a result. 37:25 Amen. 37:26 That's why Dr. Lela 37:27 is now our Adventist World Radio medical director. 37:30 Amen. 37:31 So Dr. Lela, as the new AWR medical director, 37:34 we're planning something special 37:36 because Palau in summer 37:37 but we've got something coming up 37:39 just around the corner in India in 2019. 37:41 What's happening? 37:42 I am so excited to tell GYC that Chennai, India, 37:46 the main hub for the Total Member Involvement event 37:49 this summer, June 4 to 6. 37:52 We by God's grace are gonna service 37:54 thousands upon thousands of patients 37:56 with free medical, dental, eye care and surgical services. 37:59 Wow! 38:00 So this is gonna happen right before the TMI meetings 38:03 and there's gonna be, Dr. McKey, 38:04 how many meetings in India this summer? 38:07 Four thousand. 38:08 Wow, praise God. Four thousand. 38:10 So this summer from June 4 to 6 38:13 we'll have the clinic right before the meetings. 38:15 Who can be involved? 38:16 I mean, do I have to be a doctor? 38:17 Do I have to be a nurse, 38:19 somebody that knows health ministry? 38:20 AWR mobile clinics do not... 38:22 Yes, of course, we need medical providers 38:24 and dental providers 38:26 but we need everyone, everyone, electricians, plumbers, 38:29 every single person has involvement. 38:31 How about young people, do you need young people? 38:32 We desperately, especially need young people. 38:35 In fact, what we say is if you have a smile, 38:38 and you have a heartbeat, you are needed. 38:41 Okay, can you guys smile, can you look? 38:43 Duane, do you think they can smile? 38:44 Sure they can, I see it. 38:46 And I think they have heartbeats. 38:47 I think they can come. I think so. 38:48 All right. 38:50 So that's why tonight at the AWR booth, 38:51 we are so committed 38:52 because we want young people to come. 38:54 Dr. McKey, what are we gonna do for those? 38:55 We're gonna give 10 scholarships away, 38:57 is that right? That's right. 38:58 Five hundred dollars each. 39:00 Five hundred dollars each 39:01 for those who will be selecting 39:03 from those who come tonight to sign up 39:04 to be a part of this exciting health outreach for AWR 39:07 and the TMI initiative this summer. 39:09 We're excited. 39:11 Now Dr. Lela, it reminds me of a story from this summer 39:14 because you know, 39:15 stories help us understand what happened. 39:17 We had a man who came to our clinic 39:18 in the Philippines, his name was June, 39:20 he had been paralyzed from birth 39:22 but someone gave him a radio. 39:24 He was listening to AWR, 39:26 got invited to come to the mega medical clinic, 39:28 brought his whole family 39:30 and for the first time he got seen by a doctor, 39:32 got his first wheelchair. 39:34 Wow! 39:35 But not only did that happen, 39:37 he accepted Christ when we made the appeal. 39:38 Came to the evangelistic meetings, 39:40 his whole family was baptized, 39:41 they hurried him into the ocean, 39:43 just like that paralytic brought to Jesus 39:45 and he was baptized 39:47 and is the Seventh-day Adventist today. 39:48 That is what comprehensive health ministry is all about, 39:50 leading people from broadcast, 39:52 health ministry to baptism, 39:54 leading them to Jesus. 39:55 Amen. 39:56 So Dr. Lela, 39:58 if there are young people here that want to get involved, 40:00 they want to be a part of this ministry going forward, 40:03 what do they need to do? 40:04 Well, I would say, 40:06 if you want to have 40:07 an absolutely life changing experience, 40:09 not just for this life 40:12 but for eternal life, 40:14 get involved in comprehensive health evangelism. 40:17 It will change your life. 40:20 Right. 40:21 What Pastor Wilson said tonight 40:23 as you draw closer and closer to Jesus, 40:24 when you are involved with comprehensive health ministry, 40:27 you will draw closer to Jesus. 40:30 I just cannot implore you enough. 40:32 Try it out. 40:33 Come talk to us tonight. 40:35 Come by our AWR booth 40:36 or if you're watching online 40:37 or you want to connect with us on our Facebook page, 40:40 you message us on Facebook. 40:41 We'll have someone get back to you tonight. 40:43 Tell us you're interested 40:44 in going on a mission trip in the future 40:46 or getting involved in your local church. 40:47 We want to help you 40:48 be a comprehensive health evangelist. 40:50 Jesus is coming. 40:51 He needs each one of us to help do our part 40:53 so that He will come. 40:54 That's an AWR comprehensive health evangelism. 40:56 Amen. Amen. 40:58 Amen. God bless you all. 40:59 Amen. 41:04 Good evening, GYC. 41:07 My name is Jill Morikone, 41:09 I'm the General Manager of 3ABN 41:11 and for the past, I don't know 12 plus years, 41:14 3ABN has had the privilege of broadcasting 41:16 the GYC Convention. 41:18 We love the mission and the message of GYC. 41:22 What a privilege it is to partner together. 41:25 Just last night at the booth, 41:27 I met a young woman 41:28 who's all the way from South Africa. 41:31 She said, I watched GYC for years on 3ABN 41:35 and it's my first time 41:37 and I got to come to the conference 41:39 and she was so excited. 41:41 So we love GYC and the connection here. 41:44 Romans 10:14, 41:46 Paul says, how shall they hear? 41:49 Let me start that over again. 41:53 "How shall they know the gospel, 41:56 if they never heard it, 41:58 and how shall they hear without a preacher." 42:03 That's where the Ministry of 3ABN comes in. 42:06 Over 34 years ago, 42:08 now just being honest with you, 42:10 I was a very little girl 34 years ago 42:12 and most of you were probably not even born. 42:15 But 34 years ago, 42:16 God called Danny Shelton to build a television station 42:20 that would reach the world 42:21 with the undiluted three angels' messages, 42:25 one that would counteract the counterfeit. 42:26 And for all those years, 42:28 we have sought to remain true to that mission. 42:31 Currently our 3ABN leadership team 42:34 is looking at fresh and relevant ways 42:36 that we can share the same message 42:39 but with new methods. 42:40 I'm standing next to Jay, Jason and Bradley, 42:44 General Manager of our Dare to Dream network, 42:46 which is our urban network 42:47 and tell us about some of those new ways, Jay? 42:49 Well, you know, when you're sharing the gospel, 42:51 accessibility is crucial. 42:54 You have to be accessible. 42:56 So if you pull out your phones, 42:58 your tablets, your iPads, 43:00 we have an app, 43:02 a free app that you can download, 43:04 it's the 3ABN app 43:05 so you just go to your Play Store 43:07 or your App Store 43:09 and type in 3ABN and get that app. 43:12 You can also go to the website 3abn.tv 43:15 and actually watch the programming on there. 43:18 We're on Roku, 43:19 you just add the free 3ABN channel there, 43:23 we're on YouTube. 43:24 You can go to youtube.com/3abn. 43:28 You know, it's interesting how God bless His faithfulness 43:32 and so when you look at 3ABN 43:36 some of you might not know 43:38 that there's so many more networks. 43:40 In addition it's like 3ABN is the parent network 43:44 and then out of the parent network 43:45 you have 3ABN Latino, 43:48 they have a YouTube channel as well, 43:51 youtube.com/3abnlatino. 43:55 Dare to Dream has a YouTube channel, 43:57 youtube.com/d2dnetworktv. 44:01 So there's so many ways that you can watch the content. 44:06 At Dare to Dream, 44:07 what we like to do is we target inner city residents, 44:09 we have a burden for the inner cities 44:12 and what we found is that 44:14 issues that are plaguing inner city residents 44:17 go, they span across culturally. 44:21 So what does that look like? 44:23 Well, we have programs on financial literacy, 44:27 health and wellness, cooking programs, 44:29 sexual purity programs, prophecy programs, 44:33 so many programs. 44:34 And if you guys can copy and paste links, 44:37 I know a lot of you have Facebook pages, 44:40 you can share links and partake in digital evangelism. 44:44 Yep, and here to my right, 44:48 yeah, my right, your left, 44:50 I have my good friend Tim Parton. 44:53 What's your role, Tim? 44:54 My name is Tim Parton, 44:55 and I am the General Manager 44:57 of the Praise Him music network. 44:59 And we are a network of video channel 45:02 that exists to glorify God 45:04 and encourage His people through music. 45:10 That's what it's called. It's music. 45:12 Hello. So it's, it is... I'm sorry, Eluvia. 47:49 Eluvia, where are you from? 47:50 I'm from Houston. 47:52 And so you live here locally. 47:54 You went on a bus, 47:55 was it refugee or non refugee? 47:57 Refugee. 47:59 So you met somebody at the door, 48:01 they were a refugee where were they from? 48:03 Ethiopia. 48:05 Okay, and what happened at this door? 48:07 Okay, so originally my partner and I, 48:09 my sister walked up to the door. 48:11 We were getting ready to walk away 48:13 when they opened the door. 48:16 They accepted to participate in the survey 48:19 and they started the survey with us 48:21 when we got to the question of his country of origin. 48:26 He jokingly mentioned China 48:28 and as I was typing it in into the survey. 48:31 He was like, no, I'm just kidding, 48:32 I'm from Ethiopia and he loosened up, 48:35 you could tell that he felt a little bit more comfortable 48:37 doing the survey 48:39 and we went through the questions of the kids 48:41 and then 48:42 when we got to the question of doing prayer together, 48:46 he goes. 48:48 Okay, but who are you gonna pray to? 48:50 And I answered God. 48:51 And he goes, 48:54 do you believe in Jesus Christ? 48:55 And I said, yes. 48:57 And he asked me, who is he to you? 49:00 And I didn't really know 49:02 what to reply but what came to mind at the moment was, 49:05 He's my Savior, 49:07 and He's my best friend. 49:08 And today he seemed hesitant at first 49:13 and right when I said that he smiled really big. 49:17 And then he said, then yes, you can pray for me. 49:22 At first he wanted to be the one to pray for us 49:25 but as soon as I replied that to him, 49:28 it seemed like he was okay with me 49:31 praying for him. 49:32 And so his son was standing next to him, 49:35 and I prayed for them. 49:36 Their names are Daniel and Isaac 49:38 and so we prayed together. 49:40 And when we were done, 49:41 he wanted to know more about the survey. 49:43 And so I shared a little bit 49:44 about the GYC Conference with them 49:46 and what we were doing in town this weekend. 49:48 And so he told us 49:52 to keep sharing Jesus. 49:55 He first asked 49:58 when you go out there and do these surveys, 50:00 do you tell people about Jesus? 50:01 And I answered, yes, if they allow me to. 50:05 And he replied, the most amazing response to me 50:08 and best advice and he goes, 50:11 don't ask for permission. 50:12 He goes, when you're given the chance, 50:14 go for it, 50:16 take advantage of it, 50:17 and know that it's not you doing the work 50:20 but its God doing the work through you. 50:22 And so when he said that, 50:24 I really didn't know what else to say 50:26 other than thank you for the advice you gave me. 50:29 And as we parted ways, 50:31 he... 50:32 So, okay, so you meet this man, 50:34 he's a refugee from Ethiopia. 50:37 You thought that you were there to bless him 50:39 but he ends up blessing you and encouraging you. 50:42 And then at the end of this experience, 50:45 what did it make you feel like? 50:48 So just like you said, 50:50 I felt like he had preached more to me 50:52 than I could have ever preached to him. 50:54 And so I took his advice to heart 50:56 and although this was my second time 50:58 going door-to-door knocking. 50:59 I feel more encouraged to keep doing it 51:02 to step out of my comfort zone 51:04 and leave my fear aside knowing that, 51:06 like he said, it is God doing the work through me. 51:09 And so he did mention as we were leaving, 51:13 we were like Happy New Year. 51:14 And he goes, you're welcome here anytime. 51:17 Amen. 51:18 And then you decided you wanted to make a commitment 51:21 since you live here in Houston to do what? 51:23 Right. 51:25 So as a youth leader in my church 51:26 here in Spring Branch, 51:28 I decided that we're gonna come back, 51:29 we're gonna have follow up 51:31 with the several houses we knocked on, 51:33 and we're going to come back 51:35 whether it is to visit right to them, 51:37 deliver a food basket 51:39 or some sort, we're gonna have follow up 51:41 and I made that commitment in my heart 51:43 and it's gonna happen. 51:44 Amen. 51:45 So you decided that you're gonna follow up 51:47 with the refugee community 51:49 because you've experienced the encouragement 51:52 that it got... 51:54 you received from this. 51:55 Amen. Thank you for sharing. 51:57 All right, our next story comes from John, 52:00 and John is from Weimar. 52:02 Tell us what bus you went on? 52:04 I wanted to go on a bus 52:06 that would go to a place 52:08 where I could talk to people who speak Chinese. 52:09 So I went down a line 52:10 and I sat down in the Chinese group. 52:12 All right, and then you ended up going, where? 52:16 Well, we ended up going to this apartment complex 52:19 and it was gated. 52:20 Once we got through the gate, once the car went through, 52:22 I felt impressed 52:24 because I had prayed with my outreach partner. 52:25 I felt impressed that we should go 52:26 to the back to the very top, 52:28 there were three floors. 52:29 We went all the way to the back top corner 52:31 and started working forward. 52:32 So you decided you were impressed 52:34 and then you decided to go all the way 52:36 to the very back third floor 52:39 of the apartment complex, what happened? 52:41 Who did you meet there? 52:42 Well, one of the first doors that I knocked on 52:44 there was this young woman who came to the door, 52:46 and I was expecting someone who spoke Chinese, 52:48 maybe, maybe a Spanish 52:50 but she had a head covering. 52:52 I'm sure you guys have seen the beautiful head coverings 52:55 that Muslim woman wear. 52:58 She was from Afghanistan. 53:00 Wow! 53:01 Okay, and then you asked her for her name. 53:04 What happened after that? 53:05 She was hesitant at first 53:07 when she first opened the door 53:09 but after a while, 53:11 I asked her for her name 53:12 and she said my name is Arzoo. 53:15 And because of I learned a few a little bit of words 53:18 of Middle Eastern languages growing up. 53:20 I knew that it meant hope or a wish 53:22 and I mentioned that to her 53:23 and she just completely opened up. 53:24 She brought her sister, she brought her mother, 53:27 and we talked and we were able to find out what they needed. 53:30 It turns out 53:31 that refugee families need stuff like sofas and tables 53:35 because they can't bring them, they're heavy, 53:37 they can't take them all the way from home. 53:39 So she was hesitant at first. 53:40 You said her, 53:42 you knew the meaning of her name 53:43 because of your past missionary experiences 53:46 and then she shared her practical needs. 53:49 Did she sign up for follow up? 53:53 I was hoping that she'd be interested in the Bible 53:55 or maybe a GLOW track but she wasn't. 53:58 She didn't really want to have much to do with that 54:01 but she was willing to have us pray with her 54:04 and afterwards we got her number 54:05 and we're gonna follow up as best we can. 54:08 Amen. Praise the Lord. 54:10 Thank you, John, for sharing your story. 54:12 All right, and our next group is Kennedy and William. 54:18 Tell us where are you guys from? 54:20 We're from Jersey. 54:22 Okay, we got some flat bands out there. 54:24 So tell us, 54:26 it was the end of the bus trip 54:29 and what happened? 54:31 You had one thing left? 54:33 So since we're pressed on time, 54:36 my friend, 54:38 he was already walking towards the bus stop 54:40 from where we're gonna get picked up from 54:43 and I was already walking towards the opposite direction 54:46 to the other houses that we can knock on 54:49 and to the people that we can talk to. 54:52 So you decided you're gonna keep going, 54:55 but your partner is already headed towards the bus. 54:58 So then what happens? 55:01 So I told my partner, I was like, 55:02 "Yeah, dude, come on. 55:04 We just got one more. 55:07 One more Bible study got left. 55:10 We could talk to one more person to save." 55:16 Amen. 55:17 Okay, and so you kept going 55:19 and what...? 55:20 Did you join him or what happened? 55:22 Yes, I ended up joining him back. 55:24 I was like, "Okay, let's just get this over with." 55:28 Initially, that's what I had in mind. 55:30 But definitely I wanted to get this one last Bible study out, 55:34 so that one more life can be saved. 55:37 Amen. 55:38 And so you met a young man 55:39 and this young man you find out is also Christian. 55:44 What happens at the door? 55:46 Yes, so when we had the discussion, 55:48 we had one on one discussion with the man. 55:51 He said he was Baptist 55:52 and he wanted... 55:54 He had religious background 55:56 he knew about the Bible 55:58 and he surprisingly when we got into more deeper conversation, 56:02 we find out that he was actually from Jersey, 56:05 initially from Jersey. 56:07 He lives in Houston temporary 56:08 but his hometown is back in Perth Amboy 56:11 which is surprisingly God, praise God 56:14 because that's literally 10 minutes away 56:16 from where we live. 56:18 And just to wrap it all up, 56:21 he actually lives on the same street 56:23 as one of our fellow friends, the church, 56:27 of Perth Amboy Church. 56:28 So I decided that we should... 56:31 I got in contact with the youth leader 56:33 of the Perth Amboy Church 56:34 and we discussed about possibly giving Bible studies 56:38 not to just the man but to his mom, 56:41 who is also living in Perth Amboy at this time. 56:44 Amen. 56:45 So you go to this young man, 56:46 it's your last door. 56:48 He signs up for Bible studies, 56:50 you find out he's also from New Jersey 56:53 and not only that 10 minutes from your house 56:55 and just down the street from the local church, 56:58 you connect with the local church youth pastor 57:00 and they're gonna follow up with his mom. 57:03 Amen. 57:05 God brings us to the exact doors 57:08 that we need to go to. 57:09 And as promised I need to tell you 57:11 what happened with the stats. 57:13 So this is what happened. 57:14 We went on 32 buses, 57:17 we knocked on... 57:19 There was 1,664 young people 57:22 and chaperones that went on the outreach. 57:25 We knocked on more than 11,044 doors, 57:29 3276 of those were refugee doors, 57:33 151 refugees are interested in Bible studies. 57:39 Amen? 57:40 Six hundred and twenty two Bible study overall, 57:44 over 640 people donated items for refugees, 57:50 and over 19, 650 GLOW tracks were passed out. |
