You may be seated. 03:02 Good evening, GYC. 03:06 We are so excited to be here with you 03:09 that we can worship together. 03:11 And along with me here is the executive committee 03:14 of which we have decided 03:17 to make God first at this GYC Louisville. 03:21 We expect, as we gather here together, 03:24 that as we worship together, 03:26 the foremost person that we want to glorify is God. 03:30 We are not here to entertain you, 03:32 we are here to inspire and challenge this generation 03:36 to take sacrificial initiative for Christ. 03:39 And when we gather here, 03:41 we want this place to be a house of worship. 03:43 And we believe 03:45 that if we uplift Christ together, 03:47 He will draw all men unto him. 03:52 So when we're thinking 03:53 about the idea of sacrificial initiative 03:57 as a planning as a team, 03:58 we started thinking about different Bible characters 04:01 that exemplified sacrificial initiative 04:03 in their own lives. 04:04 And two characters that rose to the very top of the list 04:08 were the character of Jonathan, 04:12 the crown prince and his armor-bearer, 04:15 which is where our theme has come from 04:17 by many or by few. 04:19 Their courage to take sacrificial initiative 04:22 is what we're going to be focusing 04:25 on this weekend. 04:28 But really, Jonathan and his armor-bearer 04:30 were merely an example 04:32 of the man who took 04:33 the greatest sacrificial initiative ever. 04:36 That is Christ Jesus. Amen. 04:38 And so our theme song this year 04:41 is about that ultimate sacrificial initiative taker 04:46 and his call to us 04:48 to take that initiative in our own lives. 04:50 So we invite you to stand once again 04:54 and sing with us. 04:55 For the very first time, our theme song for this year, 04:59 Our Prince's Call. 05:23 There's a lost, lonely soul waiting silent at war 05:29 For a rescue to come to the door 05:34 Many could go but I only know 05:39 The name of that one lonely soul 05:44 Oh can you hear our Prince 05:47 calling on before, 05:49 "Let us go and restore 05:54 The broken hearted, the wounded, 05:57 the captives of war 06:00 Will you bear 06:02 My shield of faith once more" 06:06 Many more are the souls 06:08 who are bound up in fear 06:11 As they run through the dark far and near 06:16 Though I will fight, just one ends the night 06:21 Our Prince who carries the light. 06:26 Oh can you hear our Prince calling on before, 06:31 "Let us go and restore 06:36 The broken hearted, the wounded, 06:39 the captives of war 06:42 Will you bear My shield of faith once more" 06:48 To that lost lonely soul I will go and will share 06:53 All their cries, all their fears, 06:56 all their prayers 06:59 For it's been told, 07:01 my Prince he does hold 07:04 The tears of that one lonely soul 07:08 Oh can you hear our Prince calling on before, 07:14 "Let us go and restore 07:18 The broken hearted, the wounded, 07:21 the captives of war 07:25 Will you bear My shield of faith once more" 07:28 Sing that chorus one more time. 07:30 Oh can you hear our Prince calling on before, 07:35 "Let us go and restore 07:40 The broken hearted, the wounded, 07:43 the captives of war 07:47 Will you bear 07:48 My shield of faith once more" 07:54 Amen. 07:55 You may be seated. 08:10 The Lord is good. Amen? 08:13 The Lord is gracious. 08:16 It is a privilege that we can start 08:18 the first day of the year of 2020 08:22 in worship to our Maker and Savior, 08:25 the Lord Jesus. 08:27 For my keynote address today, 08:29 I want to thank a lot of people, 08:32 but I'll summarize them. 08:34 For and foremost I want to thank God. 08:39 The Lord is good and the Lord has been gracious. 08:42 I will also like to thank my family, 08:45 my GYC family. 08:48 And especially my dear wife, Amy, 08:53 who has supported me, and prayed for me, 08:56 and helped give me the best years of my life. 09:00 And I thank her so much for her dedication. 09:05 I am reminded as I stand here before you 09:09 that today is a day of judgment. 09:13 It is a day of judgment. 09:17 As a youth led movement, 09:19 which GYC is which is run 09:21 by young people for young people. 09:25 We are at a crossroads in identity as a people. 09:30 For who always a generation away 09:32 from instinction 09:33 and a generation away from glorification. 09:37 The same is true for the church which we are the church. 09:42 If we complain about the church as young people, 09:44 we are complaining about ourselves. 09:48 I am always reminded of that. 09:51 The ideals of GYC and the mission of GYC 09:54 which stands to finish the work in this generation 09:59 to spread the three angels message 10:01 to the whole wide world in our lifetime 10:05 will exist till Jesus return. 10:09 For there will always be a group of young people 10:12 that will be completely surrendered, 10:14 completely sold out for the cause of Christ 10:18 and the definite aim 10:19 to finish the work in our generation. 10:23 But the question for us today, GYC, 10:27 is will we be part of this movement? 10:32 The work of bringing the Word of God 10:34 to this whole world in a generation 10:37 can only happen 10:38 through the help of the Holy Spirit. 10:40 It is a work that requires our surrender. 10:44 It is a work that requires sacrifice. 10:48 I am reminded again 10:49 that today is a day of judgment. 10:52 And to live according to the Word of God 10:55 is to live at times against culture, 10:59 but it is the best of life. 11:02 GYC from the time it began, 11:07 always had a burden for the Word of God. 11:12 We have been alive now for almost 18 years. 11:16 And over the last 6 years, 11:18 you GYC have helped facilitate 11:22 more than 2,000 decisions for baptism, 11:27 more than 3,000 young people have committed to mission, 11:32 more than 200,000 doors have been knocked on 11:36 in the last 6 years, 11:38 more than 1,200,000 pieces of literature 11:43 have been given out. 11:46 And more than 9,000 people in the communities 11:50 which we have served 11:52 have made a decision to learn about Jesus 11:55 as their personal Savior. 11:58 All the glory goes to God. 12:01 For even one person 12:02 that is brought to the foot of the cross 12:04 is worth all the efforts 12:07 we have sought to give to the glory of God. 12:13 But I'm also reminded 12:15 that the challenges that lay ahead of us 12:18 are great and they are urgent. 12:22 More than 75% of young people like you and I, 12:27 who go to colleges leave the Adventist faith. 12:32 The fundamental questions 12:34 that face this upcoming generation 12:37 are not anymore 12:38 what must I do to be a good Christian, 12:41 but does God even exist. 12:46 Is the Bible relevant to my daily life 12:50 or is it just a good Santa Claus story 12:52 to make me feel good about the life I'm facing? 12:57 We also face as a generation 13:00 a big mental health crisis like nothing else. 13:05 According to the American Psychological Association, 13:08 the rate of suicide 13:09 has grown to more than 30% just in the last 10 years. 13:15 That is telling to me 13:17 that the way a lot of people have decided 13:20 to face tomorrow is to end it today. 13:25 This number has grown even to 50% 13:29 among young ladies in the last 10 years. 13:33 There was a businessman in Chicago 13:35 who decided that he wanted to end his life. 13:40 And the way that he wanted to do it 13:41 was to go to the river and end his life there. 13:45 As he was journeying to the river, 13:47 as he was walking through the streets, 13:49 he found a young girl who was alone. 13:53 He asked her, 13:55 "Is everything okay in your life?" 13:57 And she says, "No, it's not. 13:59 The cupboards are empty, I am hungry. 14:02 And my mother is laying sick in bed, 14:05 and we do not know what to do." 14:08 The businessman thought about it and he says, 14:10 "Well, there's something we can do." 14:12 So he asked 14:13 if the young girl could show him 14:15 where she lived. 14:16 Indeed, he went there, 14:18 and he opened the cupboards and the cupboards were empty. 14:22 He looked around the house and in the corner, 14:24 he could see a frail woman fighting for her life. 14:30 And he said something must be done. 14:32 So he bought groceries. 14:34 And then he tried to help this lady, 14:36 he filled all the cupboards 14:37 and tried to help this lady regain her health, 14:40 finding the best medical assistance 14:42 he could find. 14:44 At the end of the day he was so tired 14:46 and he left the house and he asked himself, 14:50 "Where was I going? 14:54 Where was I going?" 14:59 This man realizing that life, 15:03 the meaning of life was found in serving other people, 15:07 realized and forgot 15:09 that he wanted to end his life that day. 15:12 Because he realized there's more meaning to live 15:15 for Christ and for others than just for yourself. 15:21 We are becoming, as a generation sometimes, 15:25 very selfish. 15:28 We think at times that life is all about us. 15:32 But I want to tell you, my friends, 15:33 a generation that is consumed by self 15:36 is a generation 15:37 that will not find the meaning of life. 15:42 As GYCers gathered here around, 15:44 we gather here because we believe 15:46 that we can live 15:48 for something bigger than ourselves. 15:51 And that is to live for God 15:53 and for those whom He died for. 15:56 As we face the challenges that I look ahead, 16:00 I gain a lot of comfort in the Spirit of Prophecy. 16:06 In the book called Life Sketches, page 196, 16:10 some of us might know it, 16:12 some of us this might be the first time 16:14 you've heard of this quote 16:16 but, "We have nothing to fear for the future, 16:19 except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us 16:23 and His teaching in our past history." 16:28 My friends, I want to tell you today 16:31 that we do not know what will happen in the future 16:34 but we know who holds the future. 16:35 Amen? 16:37 And that is Jesus Christ. 16:40 And if we see close to Him and believe in His teachings, 16:44 the Word of God, 16:46 we shall have nothing to fear for the future. 16:54 As we think about this at this GYC, 16:58 we have prepared for you a program 17:01 that aims to challenge and inspire you 17:05 to live sacrificial lives for Christ, 17:07 no matter the cost. 17:10 In order to build this program, 17:13 we have realized that we have to put 17:16 above everything else 17:18 and give glory to everything above everything else 17:21 and that is Jesus. 17:25 We have to focus on the Jesus of Scripture. 17:29 As we're building this GYC program, 17:32 we have seen that we need to focus 17:35 not only upon the Word of God, 17:38 but we need to focus on prayer as well. 17:44 We believe with full confidence that a praying generation 17:49 is a generation that is willing to sacrifice. 17:53 And a generation that is willing to sacrifice 17:55 because the love of God compels them 17:58 can hasten the coming of the Lord Jesus 18:01 through the power of the Holy Spirit. 18:05 I don't know about you, but I am tired of this world. 18:10 And we want to go home. 18:13 We have organized in our program seminars 18:17 and breakout sessions as well, 18:20 in the hope that we will put you in contact 18:23 with business owners, missionaries, lawyers, 18:28 students, 18:29 who are living the mission of the Adventist Church 18:34 and who can inspire you and give you guidance 18:36 as you embrace the call of Jesus Christ, 18:40 the Great Commission to go to the ends of the earth 18:44 because God has not given us a great option. 18:48 He has given us a Great Commission. 18:51 And it is our privilege 18:53 to accept this call of Jesus Christ. 19:00 We also realize that as a movement, 19:05 we need to focus more and more on mission. 19:09 The reason why you see the setup here today, 19:11 and I want you to look around at your neighbors 19:16 is because in this main plenary 19:18 we believe as you look around and you look behind you, 19:22 what do you see? 19:25 You see the exhibit hall. 19:29 Every exhibitors that has come to this GYC 19:33 is coming with the idea 19:36 and purpose of engaging you in mission. 19:39 Not only do we want to call 19:41 for you to give your life to Christ, 19:44 but we want to provide to you the opportunities 19:47 for you to serve Christ. 19:49 So as you live here, 19:51 when you're done with the plenary session, 19:52 we invite you to engage with the exhibit hall 19:56 because there are opportunities for you to serve 20:00 your Savior and your Maker. 20:03 For those of you who decide to make God 20:05 first in your life at this GYC, 20:08 we even have a gong 20:10 that you will be able to ring at the GYC booth 20:14 to let people know that you belong to Jesus Christ 20:18 and you have accepted His call for your life. 20:24 We take this seriously. 20:26 For we believe that the call is urgent. 20:28 The day of judgment 20:30 is now between the glorification 20:33 of this generation 20:35 or the instinction of God in this generation. 20:40 But as we think about this day, 20:44 we take courage as well in the Word of God again. 20:49 I want to invite you to turn your Bibles 20:51 to the book of Isaiah. 20:53 Isaiah 41:10. 20:59 Isaiah 41:10. 21:05 In there and I hope GYC that every evening, 21:09 every morning that you will come 21:12 with the Word of God. 21:14 At GYC, we take the Bible seriously. 21:18 And we want you to enjoy the blessings 21:21 that come from having your Bible 21:23 and reading your Bible. 21:26 In Isaiah 41:10 21:30 the promise is clear. 21:34 It says, "Fear not, for I am with you. 21:38 Be not dismayed, for I am your God. 21:41 I will strengthen you." 21:43 Yes, I will do what, my friends? 21:45 "I will help you, 21:47 and I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." 21:52 My friends, as we look into the future, 21:55 we have confidence in the presence of Christ. 22:01 I also want to address some of you today, 22:03 who may be 22:05 you have never accepted Jesus Christ 22:06 as your personal Savior. 22:09 I plead with you to give Him a chance in your life, 22:14 to live for something bigger than yourself, 22:17 to live for the cause of Christ 22:19 and find meaning in the service to others. 22:24 As we seek to continue with this GYC, 22:27 I would like also to invite my friend Michelle. 22:31 As we will introduce to you 22:33 the seminars and the breakout sessions 22:36 that will not only aim to inspire and challenge you, 22:40 but aim to give you practical tools 22:43 to be successful in this Christian journey. 22:48 As the seminar presenters 22:50 and the breakout session speakers 22:52 are here with us, 22:54 the seminar sessions are blocks of time 22:58 throughout Thursday 22:59 where they will talk about a topic. 23:02 The breakout sessions will have about an hour 23:05 to present about something relevant to you 23:09 and to ourselves. 23:11 The seminars, as well, 23:12 we present those relevant things, 23:14 but they will focus heavily on practical things 23:17 that can help you in your Christian journey. 23:21 At this time, as they gather here, 23:22 Michelle is going to introduce them 23:24 to you, the speakers. 23:26 They will say their name, 23:27 and they will tell you 23:29 why they think this seminar 23:32 or this breakout session is relevant to you today. 23:36 Thank you, Moise. 23:38 We're gonna be introducing the seminar speakers, 23:40 and then our breakout speakers. 23:42 Our first one. 23:43 Hi, my name is Sam, Sam Walters. 23:45 I'm from the North England Conference, 23:48 the PEACE School of evangelism. 23:50 And the question 23:51 that we're going to be looking at more in-depth 23:54 or if it's relevant to you is have you ever struggled. 23:57 Sometimes, you're looking at Christianity 23:59 and you're thinking it's working 24:01 for everybody apart from me. 24:03 And sometimes, I'm thinking that evangelism 24:05 is something about God 24:07 trying to use me to reach the lost, 24:08 but maybe God's trying to use evangelism to reach you. 24:12 And I want to explore that with you. 24:14 Amen. 24:15 I'm Brianna Martin, 24:17 and this is my husband, Ben Martin. 24:18 And we are going to be talking 24:20 about parenting as an act of discipleship. 24:24 And I think that often, 24:27 we look as parenting as something, 24:29 you know, just you do when you get there 24:31 and struggle through it. 24:33 And that's what 24:34 we're going to do in this breakout 24:36 is struggle through it together. 24:37 So invite you to come struggle with us. 24:41 My name is Michael Hasel 24:42 from Southern Adventist University. 24:43 And my topic is going to be on understanding Scripture, 24:48 basic issues today. 24:51 We're going to be looking at the Bible, 24:53 some of the major issues that are confronting 24:55 interpretation of Scripture today, 24:57 a very technical term called hermeneutics. 25:00 And how we can understand the Bible 25:03 as we study it together, 25:04 but also as we confront major issues 25:06 that are taking place in our world, 25:08 in our culture, and also in our church. 25:11 My name is Scott Ritsema. 25:13 My seminar is called the Media Mind. 25:15 And speaking of media, 25:16 the average human attention span 25:18 in the industrialized world 25:19 is now a mere eight seconds long 25:21 that's shorter than that of a goldfish. 25:23 Dr. Nicholas Kardaras stated, 25:25 "I have treated hundreds of heroin addicts 25:28 in my practice, 25:29 and it is easier to treat a heroin addict 25:31 than a true media addict." 25:33 Tomorrow, I'll also reveal to you 25:34 what year 25:36 the world's first digital 25:37 modern telecommunications device 25:39 was invented. 25:40 It has a lot to do with a certain time prophecy 25:43 in the Bible. 25:45 Jay Gallimore. 25:47 Our seminar is entitled 25:49 Rebuke the Wind, Move Mountains. 25:52 First seminar is be done with fear, 25:55 then be done with doubt, 25:56 then move mountains, pay the price. 25:59 The first time generation of Christians 26:01 launched the Christian church based on the exercise of faith, 26:04 and the last generation is going to have to finish it 26:07 with faith. 26:08 Amen. 26:09 My name is Justin Kim. 26:11 I'll be hosting a seminar called the life, 26:13 death and resurrection of Sabbath School. 26:16 I'll be there with Israel Ramos, 26:20 Sikhu Daco... 26:23 I know all these people... 26:24 Jonathan Walter. 26:25 And then if he doesn't want to sermon, 26:27 he can cover too. 26:28 We'll be looking at three questions. 26:29 The first question is, 26:31 "Yo, why do we have to go to Sabbath school? 26:32 What's the point?" 26:34 Number two, "Dude, 26:35 why are there 26:37 so many bad Sabbath Schools out there?" 26:38 And number three, 26:39 "How can we revive and bring Sabbath School back, 26:43 especially for young adults in North America 26:45 in this generation? 26:46 Amen. 26:47 Hello, my name is Sebastien Braxton. 26:49 I'm co-presenting with... 26:52 Jesse Zwiker. 26:53 And if you want to work a nine-to-five job, 26:58 Monday through Friday... 27:00 Then this seminar is not for you. 27:02 But if you want to make a million dollars... 27:05 It's not for you either. 27:08 But if you enjoy your job... 27:11 Don't come because we got security people. 27:15 But if you are passionate 27:16 about a certain problem in the world that you see 27:19 becoming a ministry or a business, 27:21 come to our seminar. 27:23 We'll teach you how to have an entrepreneurial mindset, 27:26 how to test the feasibility of your idea, 27:28 as well as how to develop your business model, 27:30 and how to share the gospel through the seminar. 27:33 Amen. 27:35 Breakout or seminar? 27:36 Seminar. 27:37 Hi. My name is Anil Kanda. 27:39 I'll be doing a seminar called Abraham apologetics 27:41 and the big idea of Scripture. 27:43 The first presentation will be Abraham's other children. 27:46 Does God answer the prayers of Muslims, 27:48 Hindus, and Buddhists? 27:49 Your mind is gonna be blown away 27:51 by that presentation. 27:52 Presentation number two, Adam and Eve, Jacob and Rachel, 27:54 Isaac, Rebecca, James and Ellen White, Ruth and Boaz, 27:59 who has the best love story. 28:01 If GYC is G Wife Seek, 28:03 then you need to come to that seminar. 28:05 Number three is going to be Sodom in sexuality. 28:10 God created sex. 28:11 The title speaks for itself. 28:12 Number four is Abraham's Tombstone, 28:15 old and full of days. 28:16 Come find out what that's all about. 28:19 My name is Dean Cullinane. 28:20 I'm actually not doing a seminar. 28:22 I'm here on behalf of Clive and Charlene Coutet 28:25 who are doing a seminar on true love mission or myth. 28:29 And what separates this from other seminars 28:31 is that it's actually based on the sanctuary. 28:34 The sanctuary being used as a blueprint 28:36 for your relationship. 28:37 So if you're interested in being married 28:39 or you want to stay married, 28:40 then you really want to come to that seminar. 28:44 Good evening, GYC. 28:46 My name is Christian Martin. 28:48 And if you believe in the value 28:51 and the urgent need for evangelism, 28:54 and all of its faces and forms, 28:57 then you're going to want to come to my seminar 28:59 entitled Winning Postmodern Souls 29:02 to Christ. 29:04 You see, every type of evangelism 29:06 takes place in a context. 29:09 And we must be fully aware of our cultural context 29:15 known as postmodernism 29:18 if we want to be effective soul winners 29:20 in the next decade and beyond. 29:24 And if you sense that you have lost 29:26 the fire in your bones, 29:28 I still invite you to come 29:30 because the seminar will also be 29:32 of a devotional nature 29:34 and the opportunity will be yours 29:36 to be spiritually revived. 29:39 They have a 30-second limit. 29:42 But Amen that was... 29:44 My name is David Wright. 29:45 And maybe you've had the privilege 29:47 to attend an academy or a college 29:48 and there's lots of programming, 29:49 a lot of things happening, 29:51 and then you go back to your local church, 29:53 perhaps it's a small church, 29:54 it's not a lot of involvement, not a lot happening, 29:57 and it just feels dead and lifeless. 29:59 And you might wonder, "What can I do, 30:01 how can I help reenergize 30:03 and ignite my local church for mission?" 30:06 And so we're going to look at some practical things 30:08 that you can do. 30:09 It doesn't require a nominating committee 30:10 or anything else. 30:12 But if you just say I'm willing to implement 30:14 some of these simple ideas, 30:15 I believe you can ignite your church for mission. 30:20 Now these are breakouts 30:21 that we're going to be hearing about. 30:22 My name is Andrew Park. 30:24 And last year at GYC, 30:25 I flew out from Houston to Hong Kong 30:28 to begin my commitment for God 30:30 to one year in missions. 30:32 I finished that year last week, 30:34 and I literally came back to the US on Friday. 30:37 And how is my experience, what did I learn, 30:41 and should you ever consider taking time off for God 30:43 on missions or in training? 30:45 Come to our breakout session it's entitled 30:47 so should I ever take time off for God. 30:52 My name is Dee Casper. 30:53 And I'm doing a breakout on the topic 30:55 of why I don't get the gospel or something like that. 30:58 Actually I forgot my title. 31:00 Something along those lines, why I don't get the gospel. 31:01 I think it's something like that. 31:03 And the point is, 31:04 is the message of righteousness by faith 31:05 in Christ, our Righteousness, 31:07 something that's solely for intellectuals 31:09 hidden in libraries 31:10 or is it something that can change your life? 31:12 And I believe it is something that can change your life. 31:15 And you'll learn more about that 31:17 if you come to our breakout. 31:18 Amen. 31:19 My name is Ryan, and this is my wife, Christie. 31:22 And if you would like to hear 31:24 how God brought the two of us together, 31:25 come to hear, listen to our testimony. 31:27 Christie spent 16 years in the entertainment industry, 31:30 and I lived a life 31:32 largely not knowing what it meant to be 31:33 Seventh-day Adventist. 31:35 I will call myself 31:36 an unconverted Seventh-day Adventist. 31:37 But God brought us together 31:39 and has taught us something extremely important 31:40 of how we live our lives these last two days. 31:41 I'd like to share it with you. 31:43 Amen. 31:45 On behalf of Mike and Rene Lemon who are. 31:49 It is Written Canada. 31:51 Their topic will be Why Evangelism Matters. 31:54 Barna research tells us 31:55 that almost half 31:57 of practicing Christian millennials 31:59 say evangelism is wrong. 32:01 And precisely 11 days ago, 32:03 the following headline appeared in the news. 32:06 Pope says Christians should never seek 32:08 to convert unbelievers. 32:10 Anyone who proselytizes is not a disciple of Jesus. 32:14 In this presentation, 32:16 they will be addressing the significant challenges 32:18 to our very identity 32:20 and as well 32:21 as the how to component of evangelism. 32:23 I hope you all come out. 32:25 Amen. 32:26 Hi, my name is Amy Whitsett and this is my husband, Greg. 32:29 How many of you were ever inspired 32:31 by mission stories as a child like Eric B. Hare 32:33 or any of those wonderful stories? 32:35 I was inspired, 32:36 and I wanted to be in missionary 32:38 since I can remember. 32:40 Well, God fulfilled that. 32:41 My husband and I, 32:42 and our children spent 16 years in Asia, 32:45 first with AFM doing church planting 32:47 and now with Adventist Mission. 32:50 And so we're going to be sharing some topics 32:52 based on what we've learned in Asia. 32:55 So the title of the presentation 32:56 is actually When Translation Is Not Enough. 32:59 A lot of times we're always focused 33:01 on how can I get overseas and how can I get over? 33:04 Is there as an organization, do I go on my own? 33:06 And then we get there 33:08 and we start doing ministry 33:09 and then all of a sudden, we say, 33:10 "Oh, I have some questions. 33:12 We're having some trouble here." 33:13 So from our experience, 33:15 we would like to give you a heads-up 33:16 of how to share 33:17 the three angels' messages cross culturally, 33:19 when people have such a different worldview. 33:22 Hi, my name is Amy Sheppard Ratsara. 33:24 And I am presenting a breakout session 33:26 entitled Original Leadership. 33:28 What we're going to be focusing on 33:29 is what does God really looking for 33:31 in leaders today. 33:32 Does it require a mastery of Twitter 33:35 or does it require something else 33:36 that He's really looking for deep down 33:38 in each and every one of us? 33:40 You may have been called by your nominating committee, 33:42 by your student group, 33:43 or by your something else in your life 33:45 to be a leader 33:46 and you may feel ill-equipped to do that, 33:48 but I hope you will come 33:49 spend an hour with me tomorrow morning, 33:51 and we'll talk about why God is equipping you 33:53 to be that leader today. 33:56 Hi, my name is Alyssa Truman 33:57 and I'm with Adventist World Radio. 33:59 And we are going to be presenting on miracles, 34:01 mission, and you. 34:03 If there has ever been a time in your life 34:05 where you've thought there are just some people 34:06 that it's gonna be too hard to reach 34:08 or maybe we just don't want to reach them, 34:11 we want to share those stories with you, 34:14 rebel soldiers, assassins. 34:17 We want to share the stories 34:18 of how God is working through people like you and me 34:22 to be able to reach these people 34:24 and then we want to equip you 34:26 with how you can use these same techniques 34:28 to reach your friends. 34:31 My name is Elena Rodriguez, 34:33 and I'll be presenting a breakout 34:34 called When The Mission Field Comes To You. 34:36 I don't know about you guys, 34:37 but it's gonna be a really hard decision. 34:39 But I have a question for you. 34:40 How many of you guys have ever attended 34:41 or know someone who has attended 34:43 a public university? 34:44 How many of you... 34:46 Keep your hands up. 34:47 How many of you live near public university? 34:50 This summer is going to be talking 34:52 about how to reach those 34:53 that are on this unreached campus. 34:56 My name is David. 34:57 We're going to that talk about the leadership, 34:59 and we're going to talk 35:00 about how does successful ministry 35:04 looks like, is it by numbers? 35:05 What are the metrics? 35:07 And we're going to see how God defines 35:09 a successful ministry 35:10 and the topic is going to be Infinite Movement. 35:15 Hello, my name is Jason Sliger. 35:17 And I will be sharing with you my presentation 35:20 God's Call to The Jungle. 35:22 I'm currently unemployed, 35:23 but I've experienced more miracles 35:25 in the last year of my life 35:27 than I have in my 18 years in ministry. 35:29 And tomorrow, I will be sharing with you 35:30 some of those stories 35:32 of God's leading us from a comfortable job 35:34 in Michigan to the mission field 35:36 to serve Him and winning souls in Papua New Guinea. 35:39 Amen. Amen. 35:41 My name is Chad Bernard. 35:42 I have the... 35:43 I think the 9:30 slot in the morning tomorrow. 35:47 One day in my devotional life, 35:49 I came across this text where Jesus said, 35:51 "If anyone desires to come to Me, 35:53 he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, 35:57 and follow Me." 35:58 And I asked the simple question, 36:00 "Where is he going? 36:04 And what does the cross have to do with that?" 36:07 And I think that the way that you answer that question 36:11 could radically change your experience. 36:14 And so if you are trying to figure out 36:17 if your parents' faith should be yours, 36:20 if you have any problem with your local church, 36:23 you think it's lame, but you're not. 36:26 You should totally come to this seminar 36:28 because it'll be cool. 36:30 Amen. 36:31 Thank you for all sharing. 36:34 Thank you. We'll go backstage now. 36:36 Well, we hope that you'll be blessed 36:38 as you journey with us through this journey 36:41 and that you will choose the best seminar 36:43 or breakout session 36:45 that will help you in your Christian life. 36:47 May God bless you. 36:51 Greetings, GYC. 36:53 You know, many years I attend GYC, 36:56 and I am so incredibly encouraged 37:00 to witness 37:01 committed Seventh-day Adventist young people 37:03 in action. 37:05 And while I'm not there with you 37:07 in person this year, 37:09 it is truly a privilege 37:11 to send you very special greetings. 37:15 There's something special about GYC attendees. 37:18 You truly hold a zealous, enthusiastic, humble fervor 37:23 for Christ and His Word. 37:26 I want to thank the GYC leadership team 37:28 for your spiritual leadership 37:30 and support of the mission 37:32 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 37:34 Believe me, it is well appreciated. 37:37 Each year you host 37:38 a wonderful mission-driven conference, 37:41 and I know that God will bless each speaker 37:45 and each of you as participants alike. 37:48 Your theme this year is a powerful one, 37:51 by many or by few. 37:55 Though you are many at the GYC convention, 38:00 as you go back to your local churches 38:02 and communities you may become few, 38:06 but a few will still move mountains 38:08 through the power of Christ. 38:10 The Bible and Adventist history are filled with examples 38:14 of the few 38:16 through whom God did great things. 38:19 Don't forget these marvelous illustrations. 38:23 Jonathan and his armor-bearer, a few. 38:26 Noah and his family were a few. 38:30 Gideon and his army, a few. 38:33 It's one of my favorite stories. 38:35 Joseph alone. 38:37 Daniel, often alone. 38:40 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were just few. 38:45 After the great disappointment, 38:47 Ellen White and our pioneers were few. 38:51 But God's messenger writes, 38:53 "Do not hesitate to work for the Lord 38:56 because you think you can do but little. 38:59 Do your little with fidelity 39:01 for God will work with your efforts. 39:05 He will write your name in the book of life 39:08 as one worthy to enter into the joy of the Lord. 39:13 Let us earnestly entreat the Lord 39:16 that laborers may be raised up, 39:18 for the fields are white to the harvest 39:22 the harvest is great, and the laborers are few." 39:27 And that's from Messages to Young People, page 23. 39:30 You may be few, but with Christ, 39:34 you will introduce many to Him. 39:37 To the members 39:39 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church 39:40 in attendance and also to visitors 39:42 who are there at GYC, 39:44 I know that there is a purpose 39:47 in your presence 39:49 being there 39:50 in this wonderful GYC convention. 39:54 Thank you for choosing to come. 39:57 My hope is that 39:58 you will continue growing in Christ 40:01 as you reach out to others 40:03 with the love of Christ and His truth. 40:07 I will be praying for you. 40:08 Keep looking up. 40:11 Jesus is coming soon. 40:14 Maranatha. 40:17 Jesus is coming soon. 40:19 Amen. 40:20 For our song of contemplation this evening, 40:23 I would like to direct our minds to Christ. 40:26 We do indeed have a God who took on flesh and bone. 40:29 What does that mean to you? 40:32 He knows what it's like to face the trials that we face. 40:35 When we see there is no way forward, 40:38 let us remember the key to experience what that's like. 40:44 Let's think about that as the Duffield sisters 40:45 share this song with us. 41:07 What does it mean to you 41:12 To have a God 41:14 Who took on 41:15 flesh and bones 41:21 Just like your own 41:26 Emptying self of himself 41:31 He came into this world 41:34 And embraced us all 41:40 From Adam's fall 41:44 He is the God Who's tasted life like me 41:49 He knows it as I know 41:53 He was tempted Like I see in every way 41:58 But unlike you and me 42:03 He always said no 42:08 Tempted and born and try 42:12 Sometimes we feel We cannot face 42:17 Thy other day 42:21 There is just no way 42:26 But He might and will knows Our frame 42:31 He lived in it As ours entire blood flow down 42:36 Through His veins 42:40 It's seems so insane 42:44 He is the god Who has tasted life like me 42:49 He knows it as I know 42:53 He was tempted Like I see in every way 42:58 And to help you and me 43:03 He always said no 43:07 He is a God Who has tasted life like me 43:12 He knows it as I know 43:16 He was tempted Like I see in every way 43:20 And to help you and me 43:25 Because he always said no 43:30 Live out thy life 43:34 Within me 43:39 O, Jesus, 43:42 King of Kings 43:48 Be thou thyself, 43:52 Be answer 43:56 To all my questions 44:05 Live out thy life 44:10 Within me 44:14 In all things 44:17 Have thy way 44:23 I thy 44:25 Transparent medium 44:32 Thy glory to display. 44:41 Because thy He himself has suffered 44:44 When He was tempted, 44:46 He is able also to help those who are being tempted. 45:02 Prayer and faith. 45:04 Prayer and faith will do... 45:06 Prayer and faith will do 45:07 what no power on earth can accomplish. 45:09 Amen? 45:10 This is what GYC believes 45:12 because this is what GYC has experienced, 45:15 and has been experiencing over and over again. 45:19 We serve a powerful God. Can you say amen? 45:21 And this is what GYC wants you to experience, 45:24 not just here in GYC, but after you leave GYC. 45:28 As a matter of fact, we started this year, 45:31 coming together and praying together. 45:32 And we know we only have like one week, 45:35 one week that we have this announcement 45:37 about the midnight prayer session. 45:39 But you know what? 45:40 By God's grace, there were, I guess, 45:41 more than 150 individuals 45:43 who are hungry to see the presence of God in prayer. 45:48 And we know that. 45:49 For those of you who have missed this, 45:51 there's still three more chances 45:54 to come together and pray, 45:56 at 5:45 to 6:45 in the morning. 46:00 We will come together. 46:01 And I implore you 46:03 do not miss this wonderful opportunity. 46:05 Just imagine, friends, if you miss one prayer session, 46:09 you already missed one-third of it. 46:12 So we only have three sessions, so do not miss it. 46:16 And another thing is that 46:17 this year we have 46:18 a lot of prayer initiatives going around. 46:21 Have you heard about the 10 days of prayer? 46:22 That will start January 8 to 18. 46:26 Before that prayer initiative begins, 46:29 there's another new initiative. 46:31 It's a 24/7 missions prayer initiative. 46:35 And this is brought to you by ASAP Ministries, 46:39 Jesus for Asia, Gospel Outreach, 46:42 and Adventist Frontier Missions. 46:44 This prayer is focused on missions. 46:47 God has called us to evangelize the world. 46:50 And, friends, every single day 46:52 for the next seven days starting today, 46:54 we will have different prayer focus. 46:56 For example today, our prayers about surrender. 46:59 Tomorrow, it's about Holy Spirit. 47:01 And the next day about persecuted. 47:04 And if you want to know more about this, 47:06 go to the booth and go to the websites 47:09 or the Facebook pages 47:10 of all those ministries that I have mentioned. 47:12 And you will get information 47:13 and even promises 47:15 that will help you in this prayer initiative. 47:18 Just imagine, friends, 47:19 the whole world, coming together, 47:21 praying together, 47:23 wrapping the whole world 47:24 for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. 47:27 Just imagine that. 47:28 So we would like to ask you just commit one hour per day, 47:33 specific hour per day to intercede for missions, 47:38 to pray for surrender, to pray for the Holy Spirit, 47:40 the persecuted, the suffering refugees, 47:43 and see what God can do. 47:45 Because we believe that prayer and faith 47:46 can do what no power on earth can accomplish. 47:49 So tonight, before we go on into our prayer time, 47:54 we will not be grouping into groups of twos or threes, 47:57 we'll be praying individually and silently. 48:00 We'll be praying for a heart of surrender. 48:03 Before I came to GYC, this Christmas, 48:08 friends of mine from Tennessee 48:09 invited me to go snowboarding 48:11 and skiing with them. 48:12 Just imagine, friends, how excited I am, 48:14 a Filipino seeing snow 48:16 and riding the ski or the snowboard. 48:20 And I was so excited, and I cannot wait. 48:23 And finally, I arrived in that place, 48:25 in a hotel, 48:26 where 30 or 20 minutes away from the ski resort. 48:29 And what happened was, on December 25, 48:33 the Lord woke me up at 2:00 in the morning, 48:35 2:20 to be exact. 48:37 And somehow Lord compelled my heart, 48:40 "Are you willing to surrender this? 48:42 Are you willing to give this up?" 48:44 And I was somehow troubled and thinking, 48:46 "Lord, is this really You?" 48:49 I don't want to disappoint the family, 48:51 but you know what? 48:52 Deep inside I want to go because I want to have fun." 48:56 But the Lord somehow compelled me, 48:59 "Are you willing to surrender this?" 49:01 Friends, I struggled. 49:02 Just imagine missing out on the snow, 49:04 missing out on snowboarding. 49:07 And I had to struggle with God. 49:10 And at the last few minutes I said, "Okay, Lord, 49:13 whatever would give glory to your name, 49:16 I surrender this. 49:17 I lay it all at the foot of the cross." 49:19 And the Lord somehow gave me peace. 49:21 And the next day, when I woke up, 49:24 I told the family that I'm not going. 49:26 And, friends, I was expecting that I would feel bad 49:29 that I would sacrifice a lot of things. 49:31 But you know what? 49:32 I could not wait for them 49:34 to leave to spend my time with God. 49:36 And when they came back, I tell you, 49:38 I know that I have the best time 49:40 compared with them. 49:42 And this is one thing that the Lord is telling us. 49:45 Why not spend 49:47 this three or four days solely for Him, 49:51 surrendered to Him? 49:53 And tonight as we spend this moment in prayer, 49:56 let us seek for a heart 49:57 that will be willing 49:59 to surrender everything to the Lord. 50:01 Let's be on our knees. 50:04 My sister Abigail will sing the song 50:06 that they taught you this night. 50:11 And after that song, 50:12 let's start our individual prayers. 50:18 Oh my God, 50:20 Let me see your strength 50:24 In moments 50:26 I can't feel You 50:30 Oh my God, 50:32 Let me know the length 50:36 Your power and mercy go to 50:41 Grant me the victory That's not in my hand 50:47 I'll trust you to help me To stand. 50:53 Dear Father, 50:55 we lay everything at the foot of the cross. 50:58 Take our hearts for we cannot give it. 51:00 It is thy property, You Lord. 51:02 Thank you so much for hearing and answering our prayers 51:04 and please grant us 51:06 the blessing of Your Holy Spirit. 51:08 We asked this 51:09 in the loving name of Your Spirit, 51:11 all your children's name. |
