00:24 Welcome to Heavens Declare. I'm Jim Burr sharing more of the 00:30 heavens. Today actually we are going to talk about the star of 00:36 Bethlehem. In our series sometimes we run out of time 00:41 and we aren't able to finish all the pictures we wanted to share. 00:45 So I guess you could call this maybe astronomy a la carte 00:48 because we're going to hit several different subjects. 00:51 Maybe that's not unusual because I know a lot of times I get off 00:55 on bunny trails anyway. But we're going to talk about the 00:58 star of Bethlehem. The Bible talks about the Pleiades. 01:03 In Job 38:31 and 32 it talks about several things in the 01:08 heavens and it was a question God asked Job. He had 80 some 01:12 questions for Job. Where were you when I laid the foundations 01:17 of the earth. But God asked Job, can you bind the Pleiades, can 01:21 you loose the belts of Orion, can you bring forth Mazzaroth 01:25 in its season, can you guide Arcturus with its suns? Now this 01:31 is an amazing, amazing scripture amazing insight there into the 01:35 heavens. Because first off God said can you bind the Pleiades. 01:40 Well the Pleiades we call them the seven sisters. We see seven 01:43 stars with the naked eye. There are actually about 500 in the 01:49 Pleiades group. They are moving to the east at 90,000 miles an 01:53 hour, bound together. Now if you have watched other programs you 01:57 have seen stars going every direction in the video clips 02:01 that we've had and 02:02 yet the Pleiades are bound together. And that was kind of 02:05 interesting. God said can you bind the Pleiades and they're 02:09 moving to the east at 90,000 miles an hour. When I was first 02:12 studying astronomy I thought man I better look at them this week. 02:17 Do you know where the Pleiades are going to be next year. 02:21 Multiply 90,000 miles an hour times 24 hours a day times 365 02:26 and as I continued to study, I discovered it takes 33,000 years 02:32 for the Pleiades to move the distance of the moon, like 02:35 across the moon in the sky. So I'd like to show you a picture 02:40 of the Pleiades and there they are, the seven sisters, 02:44 beautiful, beautiful star scene and the Pleiades have clouds 02:50 around it, we call it nebulosity the gaseous clouds around the 02:54 Pleiades but the interesting thing is God said can you bind 02:58 them. We now know that there are actually 500 stars that are 03:02 bound together moving to the east, actually towards Orion. 03:06 The Pleiades are located just to the west of Orion in the 03:10 constellation of Taurus, Taurus the Bull. The scripture says can 03:18 you loose the belts of Orion, the bands of Orion, some 03:22 translations would say the bands and can you guide Arcturus and 03:28 bring forth Mazzaroth? If you look in the margin of your Bible 03:32 you'll see that's the signs of the Zodiak. Job can you bring 03:38 around the signs of the Zodiak. Now I should mention Christians 03:43 should not get involved in astrology. There's a big 03:48 difference between astronomy and astrology. Astrology I 03:52 believe is perversion by the devil to have people look at 03:57 their stars and think the stars have something to do with their 03:59 life. It's quite popular. It's in the newspaper all the time. 04:02 What's your sign? Actually the signs are off a whole 04:07 constellation. They haven't even caught up with the procession of 04:11 the equinox. Earth has a wobble and we call it the procession of 04:15 the equinox. The earth like a top is spinning and it has a 04:19 26,000-year wobble so the constellations are changing over 04:23 time. In fact, in the time of Christ the Southern Cross was 04:26 visible in the northern hemisphere which it is not today 04:30 But we'll pick up the belts of Orion but first let's talk about 04:37 Arcturus. Now Arcturus is... God said to Job, can you guide 04:42 Arcturus? We now know Arcturus is a runaway star. Arcturus is 04:47 traveling through our galaxy, it is a runaway star doing about 04:52 400,000 miles an hour through our galaxy. Astronomers have 04:56 been saying since I've been reading, 20, 30 years, Arcturus 05:01 may just leave the galaxy. New articles have come out recently 05:06 with the question, did another galaxy give us Arcturus? So 05:11 astronomers are thinking this run away star may have come from 05:16 another galaxy, traveling through our galaxy, may just 05:18 leave our galaxy. When you look at the galaxy and you realize 05:22 that Arcturus is traveling through there at 400,000 miles 05:26 an hour, here's an example of the galaxy, and hasn't yet 05:31 collided with another star. That's pretty amazing. But what 05:36 is even more amazing, if you read Job, God said to Job, can 05:40 you guide Arcturus with it's suns. If you google Arcturun 05:45 group you will discover that Arcturus has 52 little stars 05:52 traveling through the galaxy with it. It's fun to see the 05:58 scripture being played out in the heavens scientifically and 06:02 accurately when so many other religions taught... There's one 06:06 that taught that there are people living on the sun, people 06:10 living on the moon. There were five villages on the moon and 06:14 seven villages on the sun and describes the people and so 06:18 forth. They used to think the Earth was supported on the backs 06:21 of turtles and elephants. Charles Atlas was holding the 06:26 Earth up and God hangs the Earth on nothing. So Arcturus, a run 06:32 away star traveling through space with its 52 suns. The 06:38 rest of that scripture is talking about Orion and it says 06:44 can you loose the belts or the bands of Orion? Low and behold 06:48 we've discovered there are three stars that have left the belt of 06:53 Orion at a high speed and I'll share that graphic with you next 06:57 and you see the belt there in the very center, those three 07:01 stars would be the belt stars of Orion and these stars have 07:04 traveled through completely other constellations at very 07:07 high speeds. They have traced them back to the belt of Orion. 07:12 So I just wanted to share that with you. Once again the Bible 07:17 is accurate. Now as we move along there is a very 07:24 interesting nebula. There are basically four type of nebulae 07:27 in the sky. There are nebulae that glow because they're hot. 07:30 We see them because they're hot and they're glowing. Nebulae 07:33 that glow because they're embedded with bright stars. 07:36 There are nebulae like the horse head nebula which we have seen 07:40 in the past here and then we have these super nova eruptions 07:44 which we call planetary nebulae because when we look at them 07:47 in a telescope we see a disk rather than a pinpoint of light. 07:52 I remember the first time I discovered the picture, the next 07:56 picture we're going to have up. 07:57 It's called the Witch's Head nebula. You certainly see the 08:02 picture there, arrow pointing to the nose, arrow pointing to 08:07 the mouth of the witch. The first time I discovered this 08:13 years ago I'm saying did God do this or did this just happen? 08:19 Now when I see a picture of a witch I think of something 08:24 connected with Satan. So in my mind I'm thinking, there are 88 08:31 places this could be, 88 constellations in the heavens 08:34 would there be a message with the Witch's Head nebula? So I'm 08:38 I'm thinking something connected with Satan so I'm think well he 08:42 was the dragon. Would it be in Draco the dragon. He was a 08:45 roaring lion. Would it be in Leo the lion? He was a snake. Would 08:50 it be in the constellation Serpa which is a snake. There's 08:54 another snake, Hydra, and I'm going through my mind trying to 08:57 think of where the witch would be. And I could not even find 09:00 the best place for the witch. You know where the witch is? 09:04 In the lake of fire, Eridanus the lake of fire. The witch is 09:09 located 2-1/2 degrees west of Rigel. Rigel now is the westerly 09:14 most foot star in Orion. And the Witch's Head nebula is in 09:19 Eridanus, the river of fire or the lake of fire prepared for 09:23 Satan and his angels. I was so excited. I was like praising the 09:29 Lord, called my wife, guess what guess what I saw a message in 09:35 that picture. Now there are 88 constellations where it could 09:39 be, but it was in an area that had a message for us. Well the 09:45 Lake of Fire was prepared for Satan and his angels. I want to 09:51 go to the next graphic and you will see Orion. You'll see the 09:55 Lake of Fire there, you see the river of fire coming out of the 09:59 bottom. See Taurus which is a constellation, see Taurus the 10:04 bull. You see Orion to the left and he's holding a lion's skin. 10:10 Up at the top you see a shepherd with the lamb in the lap of the 10:16 shepherd. Now 10:18 there was a woman who was studying this. Frances 10:25 Rolleston, who was an authority in ancient languages, began 10:29 studying star names in ancient languages. We have star names 10:36 that have come down from ancient history, over 150 star names. 10:41 In ancient languages every name had a meaning. If your name was 10:45 Phillip it meant lover of horses If it was Joshua it meant 10:49 Jehovah is my God. If it was Esau it meant hairy. So in 10:52 Bible times, in those olden times, names had meanings. 10:56 Frances Rolleston started looking at star names in ancient 10:59 languages and she began to see the story of salvation told in 11:07 the constellations. In Taurus the Bull she saw the judgment, 11:12 the judgment of God. And she sees in Orion a type of Christ. 11:18 And in the lion's skin a type of Satan defeated. Then in Auriga 11:23 the saint sitting in the lap of the shepherd. We might go back 11:28 to that slide again and take another look at it and you'll 11:32 see that Orion she's saying is a representation of Christ. He's 11:35 holding up a lion's skin which is about to be dropped into the 11:42 lake of fire. Frances never wrote a book. She made lots of 11:47 notes and many others have come along and written books about 11:52 the story of salvation in the heavens but they are suggesting 11:57 Isaiah 40:11 is what we're looking at the top of the 12:00 picture there where it says... 12:10 And then we have Daniel 7 where it says a fiery stream issued. 12:13 OK you see the fiery stream there. Issued... 12:25 So what they're suggesting is this is the judgment scene at 12:29 the very end of time. Now if you read your National 12:33 Geographic's you're going to see Orion has a bow and an arrow. 12:38 He's going to shoot Taurus. But if you look at the star charts 12:43 that astronomers use and I think we may have that graphic up 12:48 actually the old star charts show a lion's skin and Orion 12:52 is holding up a lion's skin about to be dropped into the 12:56 lake of fire. If you look up at the upper right there you'll see 13:01 It say's lion's skin there at the right hand corner. So the 13:06 ancient star charts actually show a lion's skin there about 13:10 to be dropped into the lake of fire. Well, I thought I would 13:14 share a few more pictures with you on the story of salvation 13:19 told in the constellations. And some of these you go like that, 13:22 how did we miss it particularly the last one when you see Orion 13:27 you see the bull and the saint in the lap of the shepherd and 13:31 the judgment and all of that. We have another graphic which 13:37 Virgo, the virgin, the mother of Christ and in her hand she has 13:41 a stock of corn in one hand and she has a branch in the other. 13:46 Christ was the seed of the woman He was also known as the branch. 13:50 Above that you see Coma Berenice with the Christ Child in her lap 13:54 Now this more of an original picture but if you go back to 13:59 the ancient ones you'll see the virgin with a child. Today you 14:03 will see a woman's wig there and that the story that had to do 14:07 with Ptolemy and it's kind of a long story I won't go into but 14:11 that has changed. Some of these we know have been changed. So 14:15 you probably can't make all the constellations stand on all four 14:20 but as I look I begin to see the story of salvation. If we go 14:24 to that graphic you will all see Bootes. Now Bootes is a shepherd 14:29 you see he has a sickle in one hand, he has a staff in the 14:34 other. And that is a symbol of Christ who is the good shepherd, 14:37 came with a staff, and he has the sickle. At the end he comes 14:41 to harvest with the sickle. Then if you go down below you see 14:45 Centaurus and the legend is that Centaurus was immortal. He 14:48 voluntarily laid his life down and you see the two natures of 14:52 Christ there in Centaurus. Then we have I think one more graphic 14:56 and that has to do with Ophiuchus. Ophiuchus is a 15:00 mighty man. He's doing battle with a serpent there. 15:04 The serpent is trying to seize the crown that Adam and Eve lost 15:09 and the scorpion right below that, his head is being crushed. 15:14 Genesis 3:15 says I will put enmity between thee and the 15:18 woman, between they seed and her seed. It shall bruise thy 15:21 head and thou shall bruise his heal. So we see the battle 15:25 between Christ and Satan there. The scorpion they are saying is 15:29 representing Satan about to be crushed by the foot of Christ 15:33 and then above that we see the constellation Hercules again 15:38 which is a representation of Christ and he known as the man 15:42 upon his knees. So from here we're going to turn and talk 15:46 about the star of Bethlehem. Now movies have been written, books 15:54 have been written, all kinds of speculation. People running 15:57 their computers backwards. Now we've got computers, we can run 16:00 computers backwards and we can find anything. I mean, you can 16:03 take Halley's comet and you can run it for 2,000 years forward 16:07 or backward and you can find out what was in the sky at any 16:11 particular time that you want on these computers. So people have 16:16 run it back and forth trying to figure out what was the star of 16:20 Bethlehem thinking that it was some natural event; thinking it 16:23 was a comet. Maybe it was a conjunction of Venus and any of 16:28 the bright planets. Maybe it was a super nova explosion. So all 16:33 kinds of speculation. There is on video that's been out. 16:36 The guy has done an unbelievable research about the star of 16:41 Bethlehem but he does not have it figured out. He says it was 16:46 the conjunction of Saturn and Regulus, the star in Leo, the 16:50 bright bottom star in Leo and that we know as the earth goes 16:55 around everything moves to the west by one degree but by the 16:58 rotation of the earth all of a sudden some stars appear to go 17:03 backwards for a few months. He traced that back to Saturn and 17:06 Regulus. Saturn every day is moving one degree and then all 17:09 of a sudden it stopped and starts moving backward because 17:12 of the rotation of the earth. And he said that was the star of 17:16 Bethlehem that led the wise men. Well folks let me tell you, if 17:22 you know how stars move in the sky, if you have a map and if 17:26 you have your Bible, I will show you five problems. Anybody who 17:30 says it was comet, it was a conjunction, it was a super nova 17:34 has got problems. There are five basic problems. It could not 17:38 have been a natural event. I'll illustrate that and it's going 17:41 be so clear I think. If you know how the stars move in the sky, 17:46 if you have a Bible and if you have a map. Here's the deal. 17:51 We know that the stars rise in the east and set in the west. 17:55 I'm going to use this for a telescope because it's much 17:58 lighter to move than that one behind me. So we basically would 18:02 look in the east. We'll look at a star rising through the night 18:07 and then it sets in the west. During the day it's down towards 18:12 China. We basically put a motor on the telescope. We put a 18:17 24-hour clock on the telescope. So this thing is going to go 18:21 around like 24 hours. So we would put it on a star. 18:24 No matter where we go in the sky it makes no difference. 18:28 We rotate this with the North Star, the north pole of the 18:32 earth, the rotation of the earth So basically we put a 24-hour 18:36 clock motor that's going to line up this with the North Star and 18:39 follow any star in the sky throughout the night. Now there 18:42 is only one star that's stationary and that's the 18:44 North Star and all night long it's there and so a telescope 18:48 with this motor would simply rotate. So stars rise in the 18:52 east, they set in the west. OK. We put a 24-hour clock motor on 18:59 a telescope and what is so cool during the daytime, our star is 19:04 down by China. The telescope is still pointing towards the star. 19:09 And we put a motor on here and this will never move. 19:13 The telescope never moves even though it's got a 24-hour motor 19:16 on it. Basically it allows and permits the earth to turn 19:21 underneath the telescope. So when we build a telescope we put 19:24 a 24-hour clock motor, we line it on the North Star, and it's 19:27 never going to move. Even though during the day it's pointed 19:30 towards China, it stood still. Just the earth turned underneath 19:34 it. Are you with me? Are you following? Isn't that cool? 19:36 Then tomorrow night when the star is right here we are within 19:39 one degree. Stars only move one degree a day. So the next night 19:42 the clock is going to be just within one degree of that star. 19:46 And again as it rotates. We just put a 24-hour clock on our 19:49 telescope, line it up with the North Star. It never moves, but 19:53 the earth is going to rotate underneath it and that's how we 19:56 follow the stars, how we track the stars with a telescope. 20:02 So now if we look at our Bible and we look at the star of 20:08 Bethlehem and in the book of Matthew it says that the wise 20:13 men had seen his star and they came to Jerusalem, We have seen 20:18 his star in the east. No problem that's cool. Whether they were 20:22 in the east or the west and the star was in the east or they 20:26 were in the east, it makes no difference. Because if you look 20:32 at the map... In fact, OK, let's just go to that map, I think in 20:38 the next graphic. And so coming from the east, no problem. 20:42 They come to Jerusalem and now there's basically a problem 20:47 because the star disappears. Well, stars don't disappear, 20:53 comets don't disappear, super nova's don't disappear, 20:57 conjunctions don't disappear. Because they get to Jerusalem, 21:00 they say we've seen his star in the east, we've come to worship 21:04 him and the star disappears. So they inquire, where is he that 21:08 is born king of the Jews and they're told they need to go to 21:11 Bethlehem. Now you'll see on the map, you'll notice that 21:14 Bethlehem is south. So we've got a problem because there's 21:18 nothing in the sky that makes left turns, nothing in the sky, 21:21 the comets, the conjunctions, the super novas, none of them 21:24 will make a left turn, but the star of Bethlehem did make a 21:28 left turn to lead them down to Bethlehem. Now the next problem, 21:31 so that's two problems. The third problem is the Bible said 21:34 the star came and went before them. So here we see the star 21:38 getting to Jerusalem, the star stops, they make a left turn, 21:41 the star appears again and now they start south towards 21:45 Bethlehem. Well the next problem is you cannot get to Bethlehem, 21:50 you cannot get south by following a star because the 21:54 star is going to move, you're going to end up in the west 21:55 following a star because of the rotation of the earth. The stars 21:59 don't stay in the south all night long. They're moving 22:02 gradually and would take you off course. So again if it was a 22:07 conjunction of the planets, if it was a super nova, if it was 22:12 a comet, if it was any natural event, the Bible could not get 22:16 you to Bethlehem because you're going to end up in the west 22:19 instead of going south. Like I said, you need a map to see that 22:23 That's four problems, OK. The star had no problem getting to 22:27 Jerusalem, but the star stopped, that's the first problem. Second 22:31 the star made a left turn, that is the second problem. The third 22:34 problem is the star started up again, it came and went before 22:37 them. Fourth problem, you can't get south by following a star. 22:41 Fifth problem, the Bible says the star came and stood over 22:45 the manger. Now as a said, there are no stars that stop their 22:50 moving all night long except the North Star and we're going south 22:55 So it had to be a miracle of God It was obviously probably a band 23:00 of angels because the Bible says suddenly there was with them the 23:05 whole heavenly host. So anybody who tells you well I have a book 23:11 The Super Nova of Bethlehem, the Comet of Bethlehem, the 23:15 Conjunction. It had to be a miracle of God because there's 23:18 nothing in the sky that would explain that. I know a lot of 23:23 people are going to, I think, appreciate this because of all 23:29 the talk about the star of Bethlehem. We're going to change 23:34 course a little bit and talk about last day events. 23:39 In Matthew 24 verse 6 we're told for nation will rise against 23:43 nation and kingdom against kingdom and there will be 23:45 famines and pestilence and earthquakes in various places, 23:50 but the end is not yet. And if we continue on in Matthew 24 23:54 verse 14 it says this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in 23:59 all the world for a testimony to all nations and then the end 24:03 will come. So we see all these events happening but it isn't 24:08 yet, the end is not yet, until the gospel goes. What I'm so 24:12 excited about, I see the gospel go like wildfire. 24:15 It's unbelievable how the gospel is going. We also see another 24:21 prophecy of the end time would be Daniel 12:4 where it says 24:26 But thou Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book to the 24:30 time of the end. Many shall run to and fro and knowledge will be 24:36 increased. Yes it is definitely being increased like crazy, with 24:41 the media, with what's happening in 3ABN with nine satellites 24:47 going around the world and many channels actually. What I see is 24:54 God fulfilling this prophecy. The gospel will be preached. 24:58 There is a man who has put up over 200 radio stations from 25:03 Radio 74. Life Talk Radio has 99 stations. You know Hope TV is on 25:07 13 full time channels. They're carried on Dish and Direct which 25:13 have 20 million viewers. 3ABN is carried on Dish which has 14 25:17 million viewers, 3ABN has world satellite coverage, they've got 25:22 like 164 TV stations, they've got like 400 channels in North 25:30 America. We have 3ABN Latino on 400 million cable companies, 25:35 400 million people subscribing. Doug Batchelor is heard over 25:40 like 1000 times a week. It Is Written is on 7,700 channels in 25:46 143 countries. Adventist World Radio is just totally amazing. 25:53 They had last year 5.8 billion downloads of our sermons on 26:00 Adventist World Radio. The last I heard, this last August, they 26:08 actually had 11 million people a day downloading their sermons. 26:14 They had 8.5 billion last year but 11 million a day. The gospel 26:20 is going like wildfire and that prophecy tells us that when the 26:24 gospel will be preached, then the end will come. And I just 26:28 see that happening and it is just so amazing to see what God 26:32 is doing because you realize this church has a message that 26:35 others do not have. There are people out there who think once 26:38 saved always saved. Walk the aisle and pray the sinner's 26:42 prayer, you're in, you're going to heaven and that's not true 26:46 folks. Because Jesus comes there are people that think they are 26:50 Christians but they don't know Jesus. He says depart from me, 26:53 I never knew you. We have a proper message, a correct 26:59 message about once saved, always saved, about ever-burning hell, 27:05 God's not burning people forever in hell. We have the Sabbath, 27:11 the people need to hear about the Sabbath, truths from the 27:16 word of God that are not proclaimed throughout the world 27:21 but only by this message, this channel and this network. 27:27 So I want to thank you. Boy our time just goes so fast. Thank 27:29 you for watching Heavens Declare. We just enjoy sharing 27:33 the heavens with you and the beautiful things God has created 27:36 Certainly the heavens do declare the glory of God. I invite you 27:40 to join us again next week as we explore more of the heavens. 27:44 Thank you for watching. |
