00:15 Well, hello everybody once again... 00:17 welcome to our Summit... 00:19 this is Presentation Number 2 00:21 of the Series that I am presenting here at the Summit. 00:25 I would like to remind you that if you registered, 00:29 you should have received the Study Notes... 00:33 everything I'm presenting 00:35 and so I hope that you registered 00:38 so that you can make sure and get the notes 00:41 and just follow along as we're studying. 00:44 The title of this presentation is: 00:47 The Three Stages of the Judgment 00:49 and we're going to repeat several things 00:52 from the first study 00:54 because they are essential for understanding 00:57 what we're going to study now 00:58 regarding the three stages of the judgment 01:01 but before we begin, we want to have a word of prayer 01:04 and so, let's just bow our heads for prayer. 01:07 "Father in heaven, 01:08 as we study this very important subject 01:10 about the pre-Advent judgment... 01:13 the millennial judgment 01:14 and the post-millennial judgment, 01:16 that You will help us understand why You follow this process 01:20 and that we might also understand 01:23 that we must commit our lives fully and completely to Jesus 01:27 so that when our name appears in the judgment, 01:30 Jesus will stand in our place and defend us. 01:33 Thank you Father for the privilege now 01:36 of opening Your Word, 01:37 we ask that it will not return unto You void, 01:40 in Jesus' name we pray, amen. " 01:44 Pause... 01:46 The first thing that we want to notice is 01:49 that the pre-Advent Investigative Judgment 01:53 takes place as is expressed in pre-Advent 01:57 before the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ. 02:01 This is going to take place 02:03 while the gospel is still being preached 02:06 so, if the gospel is being preached, 02:09 this judgment begins during probationary time. 02:13 Let's read Revelation 14 verses 6 and 7 02:16 where clearly the judgment takes place 02:19 before the close of probation 02:21 while the gospel is being preached. 02:23 It says there, 02:25 "Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, 02:29 having the everlasting gospel to preach 02:32 to those who dwell on the earth... 02:34 to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people... " 02:39 let's stop there for a moment... 02:41 let me ask you, 02:43 "Is this happening during probationary time?" 02:47 Of course. 02:48 Why would you preach the gospel after probation closed? 02:52 Now, let's continue to verse 7, 02:55 it says in verse 7, 02:56 "Saying with a loud voice, 02:59 'Fear God and give glory to Him, 03:03 for the hour of His judgment has come... '" 03:07 not will come... but "has come; 03:11 and worship Him who made heaven and earth, 03:14 the sea and springs of water. " 03:17 So, you notice 03:19 that the judgment begins while the gospel is being preached 03:22 which means that this must be 03:25 a pre-Advent Investigative Judgment... 03:28 before the close of probation and the 2nd coming of Christ. 03:33 Now, this judgment takes place in heaven not on earth. 03:39 You know, the Creed says that Jesus will come 03:43 to judge the living and the dead. 03:45 That is not correct. 03:47 The judgment takes place before the 2nd coming of Christ 03:52 and it takes place in heaven... not on earth. 03:56 Let's notice Daniel chapter 7, verses 9 and 10 03:59 where clearly the judgment is spoken of 04:02 as occurring in heaven. 04:04 It says there, 04:06 "I watched till thrones were put in place, 04:09 and the Ancient of Days was seated... " 04:13 now, let me ask you, 04:14 "Were does the Ancient of Days live?" 04:17 He lives in heaven... He's called: The Father... 04:21 so, we pray, "Our Father, which art in heaven... " 04:25 the Father is sitting on His throne in heaven, 04:28 so, this scene is taking place where the Ancient of Days is... 04:32 where the Father is in heaven. 04:34 Once again, "I watched till thrones were put in place, 04:37 and the Ancient of Days was seated; 04:39 His garment was white as snow, 04:42 and the hair of His head was like pure wool. 04:45 His throne was a fiery flame, it's wheels a burning fire; 04:49 a fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him. 04:54 A thousand thousands ministered to Him; 04:57 ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. " 05:01 Who are those ten thousand times ten thousand? 05:04 The angels. 05:06 Where do the angels live? 05:07 In heaven... 05:08 notice the last part of verse 10... 05:11 the court was seated and the books were opened. 05:17 So, notice that the court is seated 05:20 and the books are opened in heaven not on earth 05:23 and it takes place before the close of probation 05:27 and the 2nd coming of Christ. 05:29 Now, who is going to appear 05:32 in this pre-Advent Investigative Judgment? 05:35 Only those who at some point in their lives 05:39 claimed Jesus Christ as their Savior. 05:43 In 2nd Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 10, 05:47 the Apostle Paul wrote the following words 05:51 to the Corinthian Church. 05:53 It says this, 05:55 "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, 06:02 that each one may receive the things done in the body, 06:07 according to what he has done, whether good or bad. " 06:11 Now, Paul is writing to the Corinthian church 06:14 so, he's saying, "We, Christians, 06:18 must some day stand before the judgment seat of Christ 06:22 so, those who will stand before the judgment seat of Christ 06:26 are those who claim Jesus Christ... 06:30 those who claim to be Christians. 06:33 Ellen White confirms this idea from Scripture 06:39 in The Great Controversy, page 483, 06:42 Ellen White wrote the following words, 06:45 "As the books of record are opened in the judgment, 06:49 the lives of all who have believed on Jesus 06:57 come in review before God. 06:59 Beginning with those who first lived upon the earth... " 07:03 that means the judgment would have begun with Adam... 07:06 "Beginning with those who first lived upon the earth, 07:10 our Advocate presents the cases of each successive generation 07:15 and closes with the living. " 07:17 So, the judgment begins with Adam in 1844... 07:21 continues with each successive generation 07:24 and ends with those who are alive 07:27 before the second coming of Christ... 07:30 those who are alive and remain 07:32 according to the Apostle Paul in 1st Thessalonians chapter 4. 07:37 Now, the believers do not appear 07:40 before the Judgment Seat of Christ in person. 07:44 They appear through their records. 07:47 Notice what we find in Great Controversy page 482... 07:52 Great Controversy... 482. 07:55 Ellen White wrote, "The righteous dead... " 07:58 notice once again the focus of this pre-Advent judgment 08:01 it is upon the righteous. 08:04 "The righteous dead will not be raised until after the judgment 08:09 at which they are accounted worthy 08:12 of 'the resurrection of life. '" 08:15 In other words, in the pre-Advent judgment... 08:16 it shown for the heavenly jury that these individuals 08:21 actually deserve to be resurrected 08:24 in the resurrection of life. 08:25 She continues, 08:27 "Hence they will not be present in person at the tribunal 08:32 when their records are examined and their cases decided. " 08:36 So they're not going to be there in person... 08:39 they will appear... 08:40 each person will appear through the record of their lives 08:44 as we studied in our first presentation. 08:47 John 5:28 and 29 corroborates what Jesus said... 08:51 what Ellen White said in Great Controversy. 08:54 These are the words of Jesus, 08:57 "Do not marvel at this; 08:59 for the hour is coming 09:01 in which all who are in the graves 09:05 will hear His voice and come forth... 09:08 those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, 09:12 and those who have done evil, 09:14 to the resurrection of condemnation. " 09:16 Where are the righteous and the wicked 09:18 reserved until the resurrection? 09:23 They are in the grave. 09:25 If they are in the grave, they cannot appear in person 09:29 before Christ's judgment seat... 09:31 before the 2nd coming of Christ 09:34 when Jesus is going to resurrect them. 09:36 Now somebody might ask the question, 09:39 "Why is it necessary to examine the cases 09:43 of those who profess Jesus Christ as Savior? 09:46 The answer is very simple, 09:48 "Not everyone who professed to be a believer in Christ 09:53 was a true believer. 09:55 You see, there are true believers 09:58 and there are counterfeit believers. 10:02 The Bible tells us that in the church, 10:04 there is wheat and there are also tares. 10:07 The Bible tells us that there are wise and foolish virgins. 10:12 The Bible tells us that in the church, 10:15 there are good and bad fish. 10:17 The Bible tells us that some individuals 10:21 in the heavenly court have the wedding garment 10:24 whereas others who claim the right to be there 10:28 do not have the wedding garment. 10:29 We have in the church... 10:32 people who have the form of Godliness 10:35 but do not have the power of Godliness. 10:38 According to Jesus, 10:40 there are Christians who say, "Lord... Lord... " 10:42 They cast out demons... 10:44 they perform miracles... 10:46 and they give prophecies... 10:48 and they cry, "Lord, Lord... " 10:50 and Jesus is going to say, "I don't know you. " 10:53 There are people who have been forgiven 10:56 such as in the parable of two debtors... 10:58 people who have been forgiven by God's grace 11:01 that don't forgive 11:03 and their forgiveness will be revoked. 11:06 There are people who multiply the talents that God gave them, 11:10 there are other Christians who bury their talents. 11:13 There are Christians who are goats 11:15 even though they claim to be sheep 11:18 and there are Christians who are wolves in sheep's clothing. 11:22 So, all of these Biblical examples show very clearly 11:27 that in the church 11:28 there are true and counterfeit believers. 11:31 So, it's necessary in the pre-Advent judgment 11:35 to distinguish before the heavenly universe 11:38 the difference between one who professed Christ as Savior 11:42 and one who truly had Jesus Christ as Savior. 11:47 So in the pre-Advent Investigative Judgment, 11:51 the case of each person who has ever claimed Jesus Christ 11:56 will be examined in the heavenly court. 11:59 Now what evidence do we have 12:02 that there's going to be an examination of the evidence 12:06 of each individual in the heavenly court? 12:09 Jesus once told a very interesting parable. 12:13 It's found in Matthew chapter 22 and verses 1 through 14. 12:18 Now we don't have time to read the entire parable... 12:21 I have to summarize basically the content of the parable 12:25 but it's very important 12:27 in the light of what we're talking about 12:29 in our study today. 12:31 In Matthew chapter 22, 12:34 we have a first call to the wedding 12:38 of Jesus with His people 12:41 and this invitation is given to the Jewish nation. 12:45 The Bible tells us that the invitation was rejected. 12:49 Then in the parable, Jesus dies... 12:52 he sheds His blood on the cross 12:55 and another invitation is given to the Jewish nation 12:59 and that's exactly what happened 13:01 you know, when they rejected Christ, 13:03 there were still messengers that went to the Jews afterwards 13:07 and they also rejected the message. 13:11 So, then the gospel goes to the Gentiles. 13:14 It goes to the highways and the byways 13:16 which is a way of speaking of the... 13:19 of gospel... the preaching of the gospel 13:21 going to the whole world 13:24 and as people accept the message, 13:27 the wedding chamber is filled with guests. 13:31 Now, it doesn't mean that the guests are present in heaven, 13:35 in the chamber where the judgment is going to take place, 13:39 no... the fact is that when they accepted Jesus Christ, 13:43 their names were registered in the book of life. 13:47 So, in other words, even though they are on earth, 13:50 they actually are spoken off as being in the wedding chamber. 13:54 Now, that's a very important point. 13:57 So then what happens is the king comes out 14:01 and he comes to examine all of those 14:04 who are in the wedding chamber... 14:06 all those who are in... in the chamber 14:09 where the court proceeding is going to take place. 14:11 Let's read about this in Matthew chapter 22 14:16 and verses 11 to 13. 14:19 It says, "But when the king came in to see the guests... " 14:25 now that word "see" it's not the best translation, 14:29 it's the Greek word "theaomai" 14:32 which really means to examine... to scrutinize. 14:36 So now the king comes in to examine the guests... 14:40 those who accepted Jesus Christ as Savior 14:44 whose names are written in heaven... 14:46 they're present there at the wedding... not in person... 14:50 they're present there through their records... 14:52 they're present there because their name 14:54 is in the Book of Life 14:55 and so now, each guest is examined 14:58 and as the king comes out to examine the guests... 15:01 suddenly a problem appears. 15:04 It says, "But when the king came in to see... " 15:08 or to examine the guests... not only one guest... 15:11 "the guests... 15:12 he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. " 15:17 What is the wedding garment? 15:18 It's the righteousness of Christ... 15:20 so there was an individual there in the chamber... 15:24 his name obviously written in the Book of Life 15:28 because he claimed to accept Jesus Christ as Savior, 15:30 but he didn't have the wedding garment. 15:32 He didn't truly have the righteousness of Christ. 15:35 I hope you're understanding what I'm saying. 15:37 Verse 12, 15:39 "So he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here 15:44 without a wedding garment?'" 15:46 Now, does that mean that individuals 15:49 are going to sneak into heaven? 15:50 In other words, when Jesus comes, 15:52 He takes His people to heaven 15:53 and then the king comes out and he looks at all the guests 15:56 and he says, "Hey, how did you make it here to heaven? 15:59 without having the wedding garment?" 16:00 Of course not... 16:02 nobody's going to be in heaven and then be cast out of heaven. 16:04 What it's talking about is that every believer's name 16:09 is written in the Book of Life 16:10 and then their cases are examined 16:12 to see if they truly accepted the righteousness 16:16 of Jesus Christ... 16:17 if they're covered with His righteousness. 16:19 There will be some who are not 16:20 and so, it says in verse 12, "So he said to him, 16:24 'Friend, how did you come in here 16:27 without a wedding garment?' 16:29 And he was speechless. " 16:31 There's not going to be any excuses, Folks, 16:32 "Then the king said to the servants, 16:35 'Bind him hand and foot, take him away, 16:38 and cast him out into outer darkness; 16:40 there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. '" 16:43 Now, there's two other passages that we find in Scripture 16:48 that are very important in understanding this concept 16:52 of the pre-Advent judgment. 16:53 You see, the wedding of Jesus in heaven 16:56 is when every one of those who claim to have believed in Christ 17:00 has been examined 17:02 and Christ's Bride is made up... 17:05 in other words, all of those who were genuine believers 17:07 is made up... or another way of saying it... 17:11 once his kingdom is made up... 17:13 because His kingdom is composed of all of His followers 17:16 the judgment has shown who is a follower of Jesus, 17:20 once that has taken place, then the wedding occurs 17:24 but the wedding is not when Jesus comes to marry His people 17:27 on earth, 17:28 the wedding takes place when every case has been decided 17:31 the kingdom of Jesus is complete... 17:34 the... the... the bride of Jesus is complete 17:37 because the judgment has revealed 17:39 who belongs to His kingdom... 17:40 who is part of His bride 17:42 and then in heaven, Jesus marries His bride 17:46 or Jesus takes over the kingdom 17:49 which is composed of all of His followers... 17:52 all of His believers 17:53 and only then will Jesus come to pick up His bride. 17:58 You say, "Now, wait a minute, 17:59 where does the Bible teach that?" 18:02 Well, let's go the gospel of Luke, 18:04 chapter 12 verses 35 to 37, 18:07 see, the Christian world is oblivious to all of this 18:10 because they believe in all that... 18:13 "You're going to have a tribulation at the end... 18:14 the Christians are all going to be "raptured" to heaven 18:17 and then... you know... after the "rapture" 18:19 Jesus is coming gloriously to earth 18:21 and He's going to set up His millennial kingdom here. " 18:23 But then, how do you explain these two parables 18:27 that Jesus told? 18:29 The one in Luke 12:35 to 37... 18:31 He is speaking to His disciples 18:34 and notice what Jesus says to them, 18:37 "Let your waist be girded 18:40 and your lamps burning; 18:42 and you yourselves be like men... " 18:46 listen carefully now... 18:47 He's saying to His disciples, "be like men 18:50 who wait for their master, 18:52 when he will return from the wedding... " 18:56 excuse me... 18:58 "when he will return from the wedding... " 19:02 so, where does the wedding take place 19:04 if he's returning from the wedding? 19:05 It takes place in heaven 19:08 so, once again... 19:10 "and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, 19:13 when he will return from the wedding, 19:15 that when he comes and knocks 19:18 they may open to him immediately. 19:21 Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes" 19:26 that's the second coming... 19:27 will find watching. 19:29 Assuredly, I say to you... " 19:32 and here's a very important point, 19:34 "Assuredly I say to you, 19:36 that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, 19:39 and will come and serve them. " 19:42 That is the wedding reception... 19:44 He comes... picks up His bride... 19:46 or picks up His kingdom 19:47 and then He takes them to heaven 19:50 for the wedding supper 19:51 and He serves His people or His kingdom... 19:56 or His bride. 19:57 The other parable is known as the parable of the pounds... 20:01 it's found in Luke 19 and verses 12 and 13, 20:05 "Therefore He said: A certain nobleman... " 20:09 which represents Christ... 20:11 "went into a far country... " 20:14 that's heaven... 20:15 "to receive for himself a kingdom... " 20:17 so, Jesus goes to heaven to do what? 20:20 to receive a kingdom 20:22 or to marry His bride... to marry His kingdom... 20:25 and then notice what it continues saying, 20:28 "A certain nobleman went into a far country 20:31 to receive for himself a kingdom 20:32 and to... " what? 20:34 "and to return. 20:36 So he called ten of his servants, 20:39 delivered to them ten minas, 20:41 and said to them, 'Do business till I come. '" 20:44 So the wedding takes place in heaven, Folks, 20:48 In other words, the judgment in heaven 20:51 reveals who is a genuine believer in Jesus... 20:54 once every case has been decided of the dead and of the living 20:58 in the heavenly court, Christ's kingdom is complete, 21:02 His bride is complete 21:04 and Jesus marries His bride... 21:06 or Jesus takes over the kingdom in heaven 21:09 and then, He comes to the earth to pick up His kingdom 21:14 or to pick up His bride to take them to heaven 21:17 to the wedding supper. 21:19 Now, let's talk about: 21:21 When Jesus returns from the wedding to the earth 21:25 to pick up His bride or to pick up His kingdom. 21:29 When Jesus comes, He will bring the reward. 21:32 So, if Jesus brings the reward, 21:35 He must have determined what the reward is before He returns. 21:39 That requires a judgment in heaven. 21:42 Notice what we find in Matthew 16 and verse 27 21:46 about when the reward is given. 21:49 It says there, Jesus is speaking, 21:52 "For the Son of Man 21:53 will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, 21:58 and then He will reward each according to his works. " 22:03 The works were examined in the judgment in heaven 22:05 before Jesus came 22:07 and the individual was shown to be worthy 22:09 to be rewarded with everlasting life. 22:12 Notice Revelation 22 and verse 12. 22:15 Here Jesus says, "And behold, I am coming quickly, 22:19 and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone 22:24 according to his work. " 22:26 Once again, "works" were examined... 22:28 when Jesus comes, the judgment is ended 22:31 and He is going to reward His people. 22:33 Now, let's talk a little bit more about 22:36 the 2nd coming of Christ... 22:38 the time when Jesus comes to reward His people 22:40 after the judgment has revealed who belongs to His bride... 22:44 who belongs to His kingdom. 22:46 Let's notice Revelation chapter 6 22:49 and verses 14 through 17. 22:51 Revelation 6:14 through 17. 22:54 This is speaking about the 2nd coming of Christ. 22:58 It says the following, 22:59 "Then the sky receded as a scroll... " 23:03 don't forget these details... 23:05 we're going to come back to them in a moment... 23:08 little later on in Revelation. 23:09 "Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, 23:14 and every mountain and island was moved out of its place. " 23:19 Remember that expression, "moved out of its place" 23:22 verse 15, "And the kings of the earth 23:25 the great men, the rich men, 23:27 the commanders, the mighty men, 23:29 every slave and every free man, 23:31 hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, 23:35 and said to the mountains and rocks, 23:38 'Fall on us and hide us from the face... '" 23:41 don't forget that keyword... 23:43 "hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne" 23:47 don't forget "throne" 23:48 somebody's coming on the throne... 23:50 the wicked are... are crying out 23:52 so that they don't have to see the face 23:54 of the One who's on the throne... 23:56 "the sky is... is... recedes as a scroll 23:59 and the earth is moved out of its place... " 24:03 so, it says once again, 24:05 that the wicked are saying, "Fall on us and hide us 24:08 from the face of Him who sits on the throne 24:11 and from the wrath of the Lamb! 24:13 For the great day of His wrath has come, 24:15 and who is able to stand?" 24:17 This is describing the 2nd coming of Christ. 24:20 What are the key elements? 24:23 The sky recedes as a scroll, 24:25 you roll it up, it's like... there's no more sky. 24:27 It says that mountains and islands 24:29 are moved out of their places, 24:31 the wicked cry out because they don't want to see the face 24:35 of the One who is sitting on the throne. 24:37 Now, in Revelation chapter 20, 24:41 this scene is repeated once more. 24:44 In Revelation chapter 20 and verse 11, 24:47 we find a repetition of what we found in Revelation chapter 6, 24:51 let me just say that Revelation is not in chronological order, 24:55 you know, Revelation runs in cycles 24:58 so, Revelation 20 verse 11 is picking up 25:02 on what we find in Revelation 6 verses 14 through 17. 25:06 Now, what does Revelation 20 verse 11 say? 25:10 "Then I saw a great white throne... " 25:14 so, there you have the throne 25:16 "and Him who sat on it... " 25:19 so, you have Him sitting on the throne 25:21 just like in Revelation 6, 25:23 "from whose face... " 25:25 see, there you have the face of the One who is sitting 25:28 on the throne... 25:29 "the earth and the heaven fled away... " 25:32 we already saw that in Revelation chapter 6... 25:35 "and there was found no place for them. " 25:38 So, Revelation 20 verse 11 25:40 is describing the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ. 25:44 Now, when Jesus comes the 2nd time, 25:47 I mentioned that Jesus is going to take His people 25:50 to the wedding reception. 25:52 Now, so far, we've discussed the judgment of the righteous 25:58 before the 2nd coming 26:00 and Jesus coming to reward them and the wicked perishing 26:04 at the glory of the presence of Christ 26:07 but after Jesus comes and takes His people to heaven, 26:11 there is going to be a second stage to the judgment, 26:15 it is going to be the millennial stage of the judgment. 26:20 God's faithful people have been taken to heaven 26:24 for the wedding supper... 26:25 they're up there now empirically and personally... 26:28 all of the wicked on earth are dead. 26:31 Let's notice Revelation chapter 20 26:34 and verses 4 and 5. 26:36 You're going to find the same basic process 26:39 that God followed with the righteous before the 2nd coming, 26:42 He is going to follow during the millennium as well, 26:45 so, let's read Revelation 20 4 and 5, 26:49 "And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, 26:53 and judgment was committed to them... " 26:55 so, you have a group of people here 26:58 who are going to be given the task of judgment 27:01 and, of course, the question is, "Judge who?" 27:05 Certainly not the righteous, they were already judged... 27:08 not the loyal angels... not God... 27:10 not the inhabitants of other worlds, 27:13 who is going to be judged during this millennial judgment? 27:17 There's only one group left... it's the wicked 27:19 so, it says, "And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, 27:22 and judgment was committed to them... " 27:25 that is... a certain group of righteous people 27:27 "then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded 27:30 for their witness to Jesus, 27:32 and for the Word of God, 27:33 who had not worshipped the beast or his image, 27:36 and had not received his mark on their foreheads 27:38 or on their hands; 27:40 and they lived... " 27:41 see they were martyred... "and they lived 27:43 and reigned with Christ for a thousand years... " 27:46 and then it says, 27:48 "But the rest of the dead did not live again 27:51 until the thousand years had ended. " 27:53 So, clearly here you have the resurrection of the righteous 27:58 at the second coming 27:59 when Jesus comes to pick up His bride... 28:02 when He comes to pick up His people... 28:04 and then you have a group that remains dead 28:08 until after the 1,000 years. 28:10 Now, if the righteous resurrect at the 2nd coming of Christ 28:14 and Christ takes them to heaven, 28:16 that must mean that the rest of the dead 28:19 who do not live again until the 1,000 years are ended... 28:22 must represent the wicked. 28:24 So, what kind of judgment is going to take place 28:30 during the 1,000 years? 28:31 It must be that the righteous are going to judge the wicked 28:36 who are dead on Planet Earth. 28:38 Now, you'll notice here 28:41 that Revelation 24 and 5 speaks about the souls of those 28:45 who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus 28:48 and for the Word of God. 28:49 I don't have time to get into all of the details on this... 28:52 I did a Series on the Seals 28:54 and I dedicated several class sessions 28:57 to speak about the 5th Seal 28:59 but what I want to say about the 5th Seal 29:02 is that there you have two groups of martyrs... 29:05 you have a group of martyrs that died in the past, 29:09 the Papacy slew a group of martyrs in the past 29:12 but then you have a group of martyrs 29:15 that are going to be killed in the future... 29:19 now, the question is, 29:21 "When is that group of martyrs actually going to... 29:24 going to die? 29:25 Well, the answer is 29:27 that there's going to be a short time of trouble 29:30 right before probation closes where that time of trouble 29:35 is going to see God's faithful people 29:39 going out to proclaim the loud cry 29:42 under the power of the latter rain. 29:44 They're going to denounce the beast... 29:47 his image and his mark 29:50 and some of those individuals who received the latter rain 29:55 and proclaimed the loud cry are going to be martyred 29:58 by the same power that martyred God's people 30:02 during the 1260 years. 30:04 The second group of martyrs will be killed by the Papacy 30:09 through the instrumentality of the United States. 30:14 Matthew chapter 24 and verse 9 describes this moment, 30:18 it says that there will be tribulation 30:22 and some of God's people will be killed. 30:25 So, those individuals who die in this 2nd period 30:31 of persecution... 30:33 when the latter rain is poured out 30:35 and the loud cry is proclaimed, 30:37 the Sabbath is preached more fully... 30:39 these individuals... according to Revelation 20:4-5 30:43 are going to participate in the judgment 30:47 during the 1,000 years in heaven. 30:49 They're going to be judged... judging those who... 30:53 were left on earth... 30:55 the rest of the dead... the wicked... 30:57 but they're not going to be the only ones 31:00 that are going to judge, 31:01 see, if you only read Revelation chapter 20 verses 4 and 5, 31:04 you'll say, "Well, the only ones 31:06 that are going to judge the wicked 31:08 are those who were beheaded 31:09 because they didn't worship the beast or his image 31:11 or receive the mark... " 31:13 but you have to look at the totality of Scripture. 31:16 You see the focus of Revelation 20 31:18 is upon those who were martyred in the 2nd period 31:21 of persecution of the Papacy... 31:22 that doesn't mean that there's not a broader view. 31:25 Notice 1st Corinthians 31:27 chapter 6 and verses 1 to 3, 31:30 here the Apostle Paul is speaking about Christians 31:34 who sue Christians... 31:35 which should never take place by the way, 31:37 this is what Paul had to say, 31:39 "Dare any of you, having a matter against another, 31:44 go to law before the unrighteous, 31:49 and not before the saints? 31:51 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?" 31:56 Now, those who are martyred in the 2nd group of martyrs, 32:00 they're saints... 32:02 they're going to participate in that judgment 32:04 if there's going to be others 32:05 because it says, 32:07 "Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? 32:08 And if the world will be judged by you... " 32:12 what is Paul saying? 32:14 He's saying the world is going to be judged by you... 32:17 by the Corinthians. 32:18 Now the Corinthians did not... were not killed 32:21 because they didn't worship the beast and his image 32:24 and receive the mark... 32:25 that's an end-time group... 32:27 but the Corinthians are going to participate in this judgment 32:29 as well as Paul 32:31 because it continues saying, 32:32 "Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? 32:35 And if the world will be judged by you, 32:38 are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 32:42 Do you not know that we... " now Paul includes himself... 32:46 we... Paul.. and the Corinthians... 32:48 "We shall judge angels? 32:51 How much more, things that pertain to this life?" 32:54 whose... which angels? 32:56 Has to be the wicked angels. 32:57 The righteous angels need absolutely no judgment. 33:01 So, it's during the millennial judgment, 33:04 that the rest of the dead will stand before God 33:08 and be judged. 33:10 Let's read Revelation chapter 20 and verse 12, 33:13 we already noticed that Revelation 20 verse 11 33:16 is describing the 2nd coming of Christ. 33:18 Now, verse 12 is going to describe 33:21 the millennial judgment. 33:22 The wicked are all dead on earth 33:24 but their cases are going to be examined in heaven 33:28 and it's going to reveal why they were lost. 33:31 Notice Revelation 20 and verse 12, 33:35 "And I saw the dead, small and great, 33:39 standing before God, 33:41 and books were opened 33:44 and another book was opened, 33:47 which is the Book of Life 33:49 and the dead were judged according to their works, 33:52 by the things which were written in the books. " 33:55 Now, we've got a slight little problem here in this verse. 34:00 It says that the dead were standing before God... 34:05 what does that mean... 34:07 "the dead were standing before God?" 34:09 How can dead people stand before God? 34:11 Well, those who believe in the immortality of the soul... 34:16 well they say, "Well, you know, it's not the dead... 34:18 it's the souls of the dead that will appear before God. " 34:21 That's not what the text says, 34:22 they text says that the dead will stand before God. 34:26 Now, the question is, 34:27 "How are the dead going to stand before God?" 34:29 In the same way that the righteous dead stood before God 34:33 in the pre-Advent judgment. 34:34 The dead are going to stand before God 34:37 through their records in heaven. 34:40 They're dead... in the tomb... 34:43 but their cases are examined in the heavenly court. 34:47 I hope you're following what I'm saying. 34:50 So, it says, "I saw the dead small and great 34:53 standing before God 34:55 and books were opened 34:56 and another book was opened... 34:58 which is the Book of Life 35:00 "And the dead were judged according to their works, 35:02 by the things which were written in the books. " 35:05 Notice that at this point, the dead are being judged. 35:09 The dead are standing before God... 35:11 now, the critical question then that remains is, 35:15 "How can dead people stand before God 35:19 during the millennium 35:20 if they do not live again until after the 1,000 years?" 35:24 How can dead people stand before God? 35:26 Well, the same way that the righteous dead 35:31 stood before God in the pre-Advent judgment. 35:35 Now, for this I need to review something that we studied 35:40 in our first presentation here at the Summit. 35:44 We need to understand what the "spirit" is. 35:47 Usually we think that the spirit is simply the breath. 35:51 In other words, when a person dies 35:54 the spirit leaves the body... the person ceases to breathe 35:58 because the breath has gone out. 35:59 But as we noticed in our first study, 36:02 the spirit is more than just the breath. 36:04 The spirit is actually the breath plus the life record 36:09 or the self-identity of the person who passed away. 36:14 In other words, 36:15 God returns... if I can express it this way, 36:19 God returns a personalized spirit to the person 36:23 when the person resurrects. 36:26 Let's notice several verses, 36:29 Ecclesiastes 12 verse 7 says, speaking about death... 36:33 "Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, 36:37 and the spirit will return to God who gave it. " 36:41 Now, what does that mean, 36:43 "The spirit will return to God?" 36:45 We notice in our first lecture 36:47 that our life record is being recorded every day of our lives, 36:51 and when we breath our last, 36:54 God, so to speak, writes in our records 36:59 "the end... " 37:01 and our life comes to an end. 37:03 In other words, He's kept our spirit recorded in heaven... 37:08 a record of our lives... 37:10 there's nothing alive up there... 37:12 there's nothing conscious praising the Lord up there... 37:15 no... it's simply the record that is finished 37:18 and God keeps that record 37:20 because when He resurrects the righteous and the wicked, 37:24 He's going to return to them the same self-identity 37:27 that they had when they passed away. 37:29 Now, let's notice once again 37:32 several verses that we studied in our first presentation. 37:36 Luke 8 verse 55, 37:38 it's speaking about the death of Jairus' daughter. 37:41 People were crying and all... 37:45 they were lamenting the death of this little girl 37:47 and Jesus says, "Oh she... don't worry, she's not dead, 37:50 she's just sleeping... " 37:52 and, of course, they mocked Him 37:54 because they knew that she was dead 37:57 and so, now, Jesus performs a miracle. 37:59 The story is in Luke chapter 8 and verse 55. 38:02 "Then... " notice the possessive pronoun, 38:06 "Then her spirit returned... " 38:09 that is the spirit of the little girl... 38:11 not only did Jesus give her the capacity to breath, 38:16 He gave her, once again, the record of her life. 38:20 Now, notice what we find here then once again, 38:24 "Then her spirit returned, 38:26 and she arose immediately. 38:28 And He commanded that she be given something to eat. " 38:31 We also noted the death of Stephen. 38:35 In Acts chapter 7 verses 59 and 60 38:38 it says there, 38:40 "And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, 38:45 'Lord Jesus... '" 38:46 notice once again the possessive pronoun, 38:48 "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. " 38:51 Not "the" spirit... "my" spirit... 38:54 "Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, 38:58 'Lord, do not charge them with this sin. ' 39:01 And when he had said this, he fell asleep. " 39:04 Do you think when Stephen resurrects, 39:06 it's going to be Stephen? 39:08 Do you think he's going to remember Saul of Tarsus 39:11 when he sees him in the kingdom? 39:13 I'm sure he's not going to be angry at Saul... 39:16 he's going to be delighted 39:18 that Saul was saved in the kingdom as well as he 39:21 and so, notice that in the case of Stephen, 39:25 he's saying to God, 39:27 "Please God, preserve my self-identity... 39:30 please preserve the record of my life in your heavenly records 39:35 because some day, I know You're going to wake me up 39:38 from my sleep... 39:39 and You're going to return not only my breath... 39:41 you're going to return who I was in life 39:44 minus all of the sinful things that were in my sinful nature... 39:48 sinful flesh... et cetera. " 39:51 Notice Luke 23 and verse 46, 39:54 "And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice... " 39:57 this is Christ's death... 39:59 He said, "Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit. " 40:05 Once again, Jesus is saying, 40:07 "Father, you've promised that if I was faithful... 40:10 that You're going to call me from the tomb on the... 40:13 on the third day 40:14 and so, now I'm commending into your hands My spirit... 40:19 I'm commending into Your hand... hands... 40:21 who I was while I was alive. " 40:25 In all these cases, God not only returned the capacity to breathe 40:31 but He also returned the individuality... 40:35 biographical record... self-identity... character... 40:40 whichever way you want to express it, 40:42 He returned to the person when they are resurrected. 40:47 Now the Apostle Paul for this reason used the personal pronoun 40:53 "you" synonymously with "spirit. " 40:56 Notice 1st Thessalonians 5 and verse 28, 41:00 this is the farewell of the Apostle Paul 41:04 and the blessing to the church of the Thessalonians. 41:07 He says, "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ 41:10 be with you, amen. " 41:13 But in Galatians chapter 6 verse 18, 41:16 when he bids farewell in his letter, 41:19 he says it differently, he says, 41:21 "Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ 41:25 be with your spirit. Amen. " 41:27 So, "being with the spirit" 41:29 and "being with you" is the same thing 41:31 because the spirit is the identity of the person. 41:34 Now, let me make clear... 41:35 there is nothing in heaven that survives... after death 41:39 and that is consciously... 41:41 it's the life record that survives up there 41:45 because God keeps it 41:46 and in the Investigative Judgment 41:49 He's going to cleanse it 41:50 because He's going to return it to His faithful people 41:53 when He comes again 41:54 and to the wicked, He's going to return 41:56 not only a cleansed... 41:58 He's not going to return a cleansed record... 42:00 He's going to return the very evil sinful record 42:04 that they have while they were alive. 42:07 Ellen White wrote this remarkable statement 42:10 that we find in Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, 42:14 volume 6 page 1092 and 1093. 42:18 I read it in our first presentation 42:20 but let's take a look at it again. 42:22 "Our personal identity is preserved in the resurrection" 42:26 what is preserved in the resurrection? 42:29 Our personal identity is preserved in the resurrection. 42:34 "though not the same particles of matter 42:36 or material substance as went into the grave. 42:40 The wondrous works of God are a mystery to man. " 42:44 Now, notice her definition of spirit. 42:46 It's broader than what Adventists have usually surmised 42:50 she writes, "The spirit... comma... 42:53 the character... comma... 42:55 is returned to God, there to be preserved. " 43:00 What is it that God preserves? 43:01 Our character... who we are... in other words, 43:04 then she continues... 43:06 "In the resurrection, every man will have his own character... " 43:09 because God keeps a record of the character... " 43:12 she continues, "God in His own time 43:15 will call forth the dead giving again the breath of life, 43:18 and bidding the dry bones live. 43:20 The same form will come forth 43:22 but it will be free from disease and every defect. 43:25 It lives again bearing the same individuality of features, 43:31 so that friend will recognize friend. " 43:34 Folks, the Lord is not going to return to me 43:39 David Castellanous' spirit... 43:41 because that would be 43:43 David Castellanous in Steve Bohr's body. 43:47 God is going to return to Stephen Bohr 43:49 the record of Stephen Bohr 43:50 minus everything that has been cleansed 43:53 in the Investigative Judgment. 43:55 So, she writes, "It lives again 43:57 bearing the same individuality of features, 44:00 so that friend will recognize friend. 44:02 There is no law in nature that shows 44:05 that God gives back the same identical particles of matter 44:08 that composed the body before death. 44:11 God shall give the righteous dead a body 44:13 that will please Him. " 44:15 Therefore, we have the answer to our question. 44:18 The fact is that the wicked dead stand before God 44:22 during the 1,000 years 44:24 in the same way that the righteous stood before God 44:27 in the Investigative pre-Advent Judgment. 44:30 They stand there not in person 44:33 but through the record of their lives. 44:36 Now, let's take a look at the post-millennial judgment 44:41 because there's going to be judgment 44:43 after the millennium as well. 44:45 You see, everybody at this point has been persuaded 44:48 that God is right in the way that He has dealt with sinners. 44:52 The righteous are in heaven so they're praising the Lord, 44:56 they're saying, "Praise the Lord for His grace, He saved us. " 44:59 So, they're okay with God and His method of judgment. 45:05 The heavenly beings have also been convinced 45:09 that the righteous deserve to be there 45:10 because they have looked at the records... 45:12 they've been witnesses 45:14 and they've seen that God hasn't cooked the books... 45:16 you know, God has given the reward 45:18 according to what was written in the books 45:20 so, they say, "You know, God, You did it the right way, 45:23 You saved the right people. " 45:25 The angels will confess that... 45:26 the inhabitants of the worlds will say, 45:28 "God, you did it right... " 45:30 and during the 1,000 years, 45:32 God is going to convince the righteous who are in heaven 45:35 performing the work of judgment 45:37 that He was right in leaving every single wicked person 45:41 on earth... dead. 45:42 When the judgment in the millennium ends, 45:45 the righteous... as well as all of the heavenly beings... 45:48 will be convinced that God was right 45:51 in condemning every single wicked person 45:54 who is outside the Holy City 45:55 but there's one group that still remains to be persuaded. 46:00 Satan and his angels and the wicked 46:04 and that's why God is going to resurrect the wicked 46:08 after the 1,000 years 46:10 because He is going to show them the same records 46:13 that the righteous examined during the 1,000 years 46:17 so that they will be convinced 46:20 that God acted properly and correctly 46:22 in each individual case of those who are outside the Holy City. 46:28 Notice Revelation chapter 20 and verse 13, 46:31 Revelation chapter 20 and verse 13, 46:34 this is the resurrection... 46:36 I don't know if you're noticing something interesting here, 46:39 Revelation chapter 20 verse 11 describes the 2nd coming. 46:43 Verse 12 describes the dead presenting themselves before God 46:47 through their records 46:48 and now we're going to notice that verse 13 46:51 describes the resurrection after the 1,000 years. 46:55 Notice Revelation chapter 20 and verse 13, 46:59 "The sea gave up the dead who were in it... " 47:04 ah... interesting... 47:05 in the previous verse the dead stood before God 47:08 but it was through the record of their books... 47:11 in the books... 47:13 but here it says, 47:14 "The sea gave up the dead who were in it, 47:17 and Death and Hades... " that is the grave... 47:20 "delivered up the dead who were in them. " 47:23 What does that mean when it says that the sea gave up the dead 47:28 and death and Hades delivered up the dead 47:32 who were in them. 47:33 It simply means that the dead 47:36 who were examined during the 1,000 years, 47:38 are now going to resurrect. 47:41 So, giving up the dead... 47:43 and death and Hades delivering up the dead 47:46 is referring to the resurrection of the wicked 47:49 after the 1,000 years 47:50 and then, it ends... Revelation 20 verse 13 47:54 by saying, "And they... " 47:56 that is... these are the dead after the 1,000 years... 48:00 "and they were judged each one according to his works. " 48:03 So, verse 12 has a judgment in heaven 48:08 during the 1,000 years... 48:09 Revelation 20 verse 13... you have the dead coming up 48:15 and death and Hades delivering up the dead 48:19 and now the wicked will be able to see 48:22 the record of their lives. 48:24 There's an interesting parallel verse 48:26 that we find in Isaiah chapter 26 and verse 19, 48:29 Isaiah 26 and verse 19, 48:33 this is a beautiful promise that God makes, 48:35 it's speaking about the righteous 48:37 but you have the same principle 48:39 that you find in Revelation 20 verse 13, 48:43 it says there, "Your dead shall live... " 48:44 so the dead are going to live, 48:48 "together with my dead body they shall rise. 48:52 Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust... " 48:57 who are the ones who dwell in the dust? 48:59 The dead folks... 49:00 so, it says, "Awake... " 49:02 and awake... what does awake mean? 49:04 Well, it must be that you were asleep 49:06 and death is sleep... 49:07 so, it says, "Awake and sing, 49:09 you who dwell in dust; 49:11 for your dew is like the dew of herbs... " 49:14 and now, notice, 49:15 "And the earth shall cast out the dead. " 49:19 So, "cast out the dead... " is the same as 49:23 the sea giving up the dead 49:25 and death and Hades delivering up the dead. 49:27 It's referring to the resurrection of the wicked. 49:31 Now, when the wicked resurrect after the 1,000 years, 49:34 to see each one of their lives now in person... 49:38 not just the records to persuade the righteous 49:42 during the 1,000 years, 49:43 but now to persuade Satan and his angels and the wicked 49:46 that God acted correctly. 49:47 Now, when they resurrect, how do they resurrect? 49:50 Do they suddenly resurrect righteous? 49:53 Do they receive a righteous spirit? 49:56 Does God erase all of their sinful tendencies 49:59 and give them a... a beautiful body 50:02 just like the body of Jesus and the resurrected saints? 50:05 Absolutely not. 50:06 They get back their spirit. 50:09 They get back the same spirit that they had when they died. 50:13 In other words, God returns to them 50:16 their life record 50:19 without cleansing anything from the record. 50:22 Let me just read you this remarkable statement 50:25 from Ellen White. 50:26 In Great Controversy 664 50:29 which we already noticed in our first presentation... 50:31 Great Controversy 664... 50:34 speaking about those wicked people 50:37 who are outside the Holy City after the 1,000 years, 50:40 she wrote, "There are kings and generals 50:44 who conquered nations, 50:46 valiant men who never lost a battle, 50:49 proud, ambitious warriors 50:52 whose approach made kingdoms tremble. 50:56 In death these experienced no change. 51:00 As they come up from the grave, 51:03 they resume... " 51:06 what does "resume" mean? 51:08 It means to start again... 51:11 "they resume the current of their thoughts 51:15 just where it ceased. 51:18 They are actuated by the same desire 51:22 to conquer that ruled them when they fell. " 51:24 In other words, 51:26 they pick up where they left off when they died. 51:29 What does that mean? 51:30 Well, let me just dramatize so that you can understand. 51:34 Let's suppose that there's this warrior 51:38 who was leading an army 51:41 and in life... that is... 51:44 and he raises his spear 51:47 and he says to the soldiers that are following him, 51:51 "For... " he's going to say "Forward" 51:55 "For... " and then an arrow comes through his heart... 51:59 what's going to happen when he resurrects? 52:02 He's going to say, "ward... forward... " 52:05 because he picks up where he leaves off. 52:08 That's a remarkable thing. 52:11 In other words, God is going to return to the wicked 52:14 the record of their lives. 52:16 They are not alive during the 1,000 years. 52:19 They're examined through their records. 52:22 Ellen White... in Great Controversy... 52:25 you're never going to forget this page... 52:27 page 666 wrote this about the judgment of the wicked 52:34 as they are alive after the 1,000 years. 52:37 As soon as the books of record are opened, 52:40 see, there you have the opening of the books... 52:43 the wicked are now alive... 52:44 "As soon as the books of record are opened, 52:47 and the eye of Jesus looks upon the wicked, 52:50 they are conscious of every sin which they have ever committed. 52:55 They see just where their feet diverged 52:59 from the path of purity and holiness, 53:02 just how far pride and rebellion have carried them 53:06 in the violation of the law of God. 53:09 The seductive temptations which they encouraged 53:12 by indulgence in sin, 53:14 the blessings perverted... 53:16 the messengers of God despised, 53:20 the warnings rejected, 53:21 the waves of mercy beaten back by the stubborn, 53:25 unrepented heart... 53:26 all appear as if written in letters of fire. " 53:32 How important is it for us to truly come to Jesus Christ? 53:38 Hate sin and love Jesus. 53:41 How important is it for us 53:45 not only to receive forgiveness but to receive purity... 53:48 to be truly committed to Jesus Christ as our Savior 53:51 and as our Lord 53:53 so that He can represent us 53:55 in the pre-Advent Investigative Judgment 53:57 and He... when He goes through our record 53:59 can delete all of those... all of those sinful desires... 54:04 the fleshly desires... delete them 54:07 because they have been repented of... 54:09 they've been confessed 54:11 and they have been overcome through the grace and the power 54:15 of the Holy Spirit 54:16 and then after the wicked see the record of their lives, 54:21 they will kneel... they will bow 54:24 and their tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord 54:28 to the glory of God the Father. 54:31 Every knee will bow and every tongue confess, 54:35 Isaiah chapter 45 tell us. 54:37 Only then can God destroy sin and sinners 54:41 because Satan... his angels and the wicked 54:46 now confess before the entire universe 54:50 that God was right in the way in which He dealt 54:54 with each one of their cases, 54:56 they say, "We're outside the city by our own choice 54:59 not by an arbitrary decision of God. " 55:02 So, there are three stages to the judgment, 55:05 the pre-Advent Investigative stage... 55:08 the millennial stage... 55:10 and the post-millennial stage. 55:12 The first stage of the judgment is to show the entire universe 55:17 that God has a right to bring the righteous home with Him. 55:22 The second stage is to persuade the righteous 55:25 that God was correct in leaving Satan and his angels 55:29 and all of the wicked on earth 55:31 because there might be some questions about some individuals 55:34 who appear to be quite moral 55:36 and yet they're not in heaven 55:38 so, God is going to show the righteous 55:41 why all of the wicked were left outside 55:44 dead on Planet Earth 55:47 and then the third stage... once the wicked have resurrected 55:52 is to prove to Satan and his angels and the wicked 55:56 that God has acted properly in saving the righteous 55:59 and in condemning the wicked 56:01 and then the wicked will be destroyed. 56:05 It says in Revelation chapter 20 and verses 14 and 15, 56:09 "Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. 56:14 This is the second death. 56:17 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life 56:20 was cast into the lake of fire. " 56:24 Second death, Folks, is simply 56:27 death from which there is no resurrection. 56:30 The first death... everyone will resurrect from the first death 56:35 before... 56:38 at the second coming, the righteous will resurrect 56:40 and go to heaven... 56:42 the wicked will resurrect after the 1,000 years. 56:44 The righteous will only die once 56:47 because they will go to heaven and live eternally 56:51 with Jesus on Planet earth. 56:54 The wicked... they were born from their mothers... 56:57 they lived... then they died... 57:01 after the millennium they resurrect 57:03 and then... in other words 57:06 that's their second life, so to speak, 57:08 and then, afterwards they die once again... 57:12 a death from which there is no resurrection. 57:16 The wicked... Satan... his angels... 57:20 are all consumed or devoured 57:23 according to Revelation chapter 20 and verse 9, 57:25 by the fire 57:27 and then after the wicked are destroyed 57:29 along with Satan and his angels... 57:31 we find this beautiful promise in Revelation chapter 21 verse 1 57:36 "Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, 57:40 for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away 57:44 and there was no more sea. " 57:46 And the righteous will live on earth 57:50 because the New Jerusalem has descended... 57:52 with Jesus forever and ever and ever 57:56 in unending peace and joy. 58:00 I trust that we will commit our lives to Jesus Christ 58:04 so that we can be in that group that will live with Jesus 58:07 forever and ever and ever. |
