00:05 that gives hope 00:06 and fosters permanent, positive change 00:08 in the lives of disadvantaged children 00:10 and their communities. 00:13 Countries include Zambia, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, 00:18 Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. 00:20 Child Impact's investment 00:22 in the lives of more than 3,500 children 00:24 continues to yield infinite returns. 00:27 Outreach spans from child rescue operations 00:30 to providing an education and a home 00:32 for deaf and blind children and orphans. 00:35 Above all, Child Impact's sponsors 00:38 give hope to the ones who need it the most. 00:52 SAMS is a beautiful place, 00:54 full of children studying 00:56 and living a healthy and prosperous life. 00:59 The faculty are also living a great life 01:02 because this school as well as other schools 01:04 is an extension of their goals, 01:06 to lift people out of poverty and to help their country. 01:12 A lot of the teachers 01:13 were sponsored children themselves 01:15 and have a burning desire to give the help 01:18 that they got when they were children. 01:21 One such couple is living proof 01:23 of how sponsorship is having a long-term impact. 01:28 Since completing their studies, 01:29 they have been working to benefit children at SAMS. 01:33 While we're here at the SAMS seminary, 01:37 and today we're going to have a talk 01:39 with two of the teachers. 01:41 One who was actually a sponsored student. 01:45 And, in fact, she went to KMMS, 01:48 the school that we've featured in some of our programs, 01:51 they both come up through the school system 01:55 and now they're teachers here at the seminary. 02:00 So, tell us your names. 02:03 What's your name? My name is Alpona Boidya. 02:06 Alpona Boidya, okay. 02:08 And me Mr. Sohag Isaac Boidya. 02:11 Okay. 02:12 So, tell us what you teach. 02:17 What do you do here? 02:19 I'm teaching English mainly first paper. 02:23 First paper. 02:24 Okay. 02:26 And you? 02:27 Me also teaching in English and this year, 02:31 I am working here as a registrar. 02:34 As a registrar? 02:35 Well, that's an important role. 02:38 So, I want you to tell us about when you went to school, 02:43 you were a sponsored child. 02:46 Which school did you go to? 02:49 Oh, first village school, my village Ramshing. 02:53 I studied there. 02:55 And tell us where did you go to school? 02:58 Actually I studied in my village in childhood, 03:03 then from there I went to KMMS. 03:06 Right. 03:07 And I started there, then I went to BASC, 03:12 Bangladesh Adventist Seminary College. 03:14 I studied there and I completed there for BA. 03:21 The impact that one sponsored child has 03:23 goes far beyond just the child. 03:26 Families are helped. 03:28 Other children are helped and even teachers 03:31 because they are given the resources to work 03:33 and help their communities. 03:36 So, let's just talk about your life in a village. 03:40 Tell me about what your mother and father? 03:43 Actually, you know, 03:47 I have a big family, including me, 03:51 we are nine members. 03:52 Oh, wow, nine in your family. Yeah. 03:54 And my father is not educated up to plus five 04:00 he can study and he's doing farmer worker. 04:05 We have not much land. 04:09 So it is very hard for him 04:12 to bear all our educational expenses. 04:17 So do you feel 04:19 that sponsorship was a big help to you? 04:22 Yes, it is so helpful for me, 04:28 as well as my family also 04:32 is support me and my father as well. 04:37 It's amazing to see what is being done, 04:40 and how much value they put in each child's life. 04:44 A lot of this Christian work comes through sponsorship 04:47 and is reflected in the students 04:49 having a desire to work for God. 04:52 Each person that succeeds 04:53 is a living testimony to other children, 04:56 parents and to the communities around them. 05:00 SAMS is a beacon of hope 05:02 for the surrounding communities. 05:04 Because these areas of Bangladesh are poor, 05:06 education is the best avenue 05:08 to empower the people to have a better life. 05:12 You can see that 05:13 with the children's testimonies. 05:14 Tell me what is your name? 05:17 My name is Moushumi Hastak. 05:19 So, tell me about your family? 06:55 Well, that's some story. 06:57 I mean, it's a story of a father dying. 07:01 It's a story of a mother struggling 07:04 and then her grandmother getting involved. 07:08 And what do you want to be when you leave here? 07:11 What is your dream? 07:33 Well, their family simply doesn't have any funds. 07:37 And so, the nursing 07:40 even though there is some sponsorship 07:42 for nursing, 07:44 the students have to raise something themselves. 07:47 But, you know, just with every story, 07:49 with every explanation, 07:52 it just gives us an in-depth view 07:54 of the struggles that these kids face. 07:57 And it's just so great to me 08:00 this young lady and to hear her story. 08:03 And we just hope that people will continue, 08:06 new people will join the sponsorship program 08:11 with Child Impact. 08:13 Each child has a unique story 08:15 and a different struggle and hardship. 08:18 So many of them are brave and actively doing their best 08:21 to break out of the almost certain 08:24 life of poverty 08:25 they will have unless they get help. 08:28 It is touching to sit down and hear each story. 08:31 Okay, so where did you meet? 08:34 At BASC. At BASC. 08:35 Yeah, yeah. 08:36 All right, college, college sweethearts. 08:39 Yeah, yeah.. 08:40 All right. 08:42 And you have a family? 08:43 Yes. All right. 08:45 So tell us about your family? 08:48 Actually, God has given us two children. 08:52 First one was a baby boy. 08:56 And we have a sad incident in 2013. 09:03 Our first baby boy, he died in an accident, 09:08 electric shock here at SAMS. 09:10 Very sad. 09:12 After that we prayed a lot, 09:17 so that God has given us another baby girl, 09:22 now she's studying in class KG. 09:27 So how old is she? 09:29 Six years. Six years. 09:31 Right. Okay. 09:32 Each one has different struggles. 09:35 But what they have in common is that they smile 09:37 and are grateful through it all. 09:40 So how do you feel 09:42 your life would have been without education? 09:46 Do you see people still in the village 09:48 with no education? 09:50 How important was education to you? 09:53 Actually, education is very important 09:56 for every human beings. 09:59 All human have rights to get the education, 10:02 but actually we are lucky 10:05 that we got the privilege to study. 10:07 But in village people, 10:10 many people are not getting such a privilege, 10:13 so there is no end of learning. 10:17 So, education is very important. 10:21 It's amazing to see how parents and families 10:23 go out of their way 10:24 to seek help and push for any sort of chance 10:27 to help their children. 10:29 Child Impact is changing so many lives, 10:31 even though this is only a fraction of the need. 10:35 Tell me about your family? 11:31 Well, she's got a bold dream to be a nurse. 11:36 But if that's not affordable, then she can be a teacher. 11:43 How important do you think 11:44 sponsorship is for these children? 11:47 Do these children come 11:48 from big, rich families 11:50 or are they from rural families? 11:52 How important is sponsorship to the children here? 11:55 Yes. 11:57 You know that at SAMS many of the students, 12:02 they come from very poor families. 12:04 So, I think 12:06 that this sponsorship is very important for them 12:11 because of your sponsorship, 12:14 they are getting the privilege to study here, 12:17 so I think they are very lucky. 12:19 So, I feel proud 12:22 that you are helping the students. 12:25 So, sponsorship is very important 12:27 so that they can study properly. 12:30 Do you agree? 12:31 Yes, I very much agree with him. 12:35 Not because he's your husband but because you believe in it. 12:36 No, no, no. 12:39 Right. Okay. 12:40 Education is very important for all of us, 12:45 and sponsorship is also, 12:50 because of that they can get the good environment 12:54 to study here and shine in their life, 12:58 future life. 13:00 Thank you very much. 13:01 Okay. Thank you, too. 13:06 With God's grace, 13:08 a lot of progress has been made, 13:10 positive change has been happening. 13:12 Even with hardships 13:14 and difficulties around the world, 13:15 there are people committed to making a difference 13:18 and reflecting the character of Christ. 13:22 A little help changes the entire future 13:24 for these kids. 13:26 It takes them out of a life 13:28 without any chance of prosperity, 13:30 and in some cases out of a dangerous situation. 13:34 But one of the greatest blessings 13:36 is that sponsorship gives them 13:37 the opportunity to know the gospel, 13:40 and develop a saving relationship 13:42 with Jesus Christ. 13:45 Thank you to all the sponsors 13:47 who have made each of these stories 13:48 have a brighter future. |
