00:02 Child Impact International is an organization
00:05 that gives hope
00:06 and fosters permanent, positive change
00:08 in the lives of disadvantaged children
00:10 and their communities.
00:13 Countries include Zambia, India, Nepal, Bangladesh,
00:18 Sri Lanka, and Myanmar.
00:20 Child Impact's investment
00:22 in the lives of more than 3,500 children
00:24 continues to yield infinite returns.
00:27 Outreach spans from child rescue operations
00:30 to providing an education and a home
00:32 for deaf and blind children and orphans.
00:35 Above all, Child Impact's sponsors
00:38 give hope to the ones who need it the most.
00:52 SAMS is a beautiful place,
00:54 full of children studying
00:56 and living a healthy and prosperous life.
00:59 The faculty are also living a great life
01:02 because this school as well as other schools
01:04 is an extension of their goals,
01:06 to lift people out of poverty and to help their country.
01:12 A lot of the teachers
01:13 were sponsored children themselves
01:15 and have a burning desire to give the help
01:18 that they got when they were children.
01:21 One such couple is living proof
01:23 of how sponsorship is having a long-term impact.
01:28 Since completing their studies,
01:29 they have been working to benefit children at SAMS.
01:33 While we're here at the SAMS seminary,
01:37 and today we're going to have a talk
01:39 with two of the teachers.
01:41 One who was actually a sponsored student.
01:45 And, in fact, she went to KMMS,
01:48 the school that we've featured in some of our programs,
01:51 they both come up through the school system
01:55 and now they're teachers here at the seminary.
02:00 So, tell us your names.
02:03 What's your name? My name is Alpona Boidya.
02:06 Alpona Boidya, okay.
02:08 And me Mr. Sohag Isaac Boidya.
02:11 Okay.
02:12 So, tell us what you teach.
02:17 What do you do here?
02:19 I'm teaching English mainly first paper.
02:23 First paper.
02:24 Okay.
02:26 And you?
02:27 Me also teaching in English and this year,
02:31 I am working here as a registrar.
02:34 As a registrar?
02:35 Well, that's an important role.
02:38 So, I want you to tell us about when you went to school,
02:43 you were a sponsored child.
02:46 Which school did you go to?
02:49 Oh, first village school, my village Ramshing.
02:53 I studied there.
02:55 And tell us where did you go to school?
02:58 Actually I studied in my village in childhood,
03:03 then from there I went to KMMS.
03:06 Right.
03:07 And I started there, then I went to BASC,
03:12 Bangladesh Adventist Seminary College.
03:14 I studied there and I completed there for BA.
03:21 The impact that one sponsored child has
03:23 goes far beyond just the child.
03:26 Families are helped.
03:28 Other children are helped and even teachers
03:31 because they are given the resources to work
03:33 and help their communities.
03:36 So, let's just talk about your life in a village.
03:40 Tell me about what your mother and father?
03:43 Actually, you know,
03:47 I have a big family, including me,
03:51 we are nine members.
03:52 Oh, wow, nine in your family. Yeah.
03:54 And my father is not educated up to plus five
04:00 he can study and he's doing farmer worker.
04:05 We have not much land.
04:09 So it is very hard for him
04:12 to bear all our educational expenses.
04:17 So do you feel
04:19 that sponsorship was a big help to you?
04:22 Yes, it is so helpful for me,
04:28 as well as my family also
04:32 is support me and my father as well.
04:37 It's amazing to see what is being done,
04:40 and how much value they put in each child's life.
04:44 A lot of this Christian work comes through sponsorship
04:47 and is reflected in the students
04:49 having a desire to work for God.
04:52 Each person that succeeds
04:53 is a living testimony to other children,
04:56 parents and to the communities around them.
05:00 SAMS is a beacon of hope
05:02 for the surrounding communities.
05:04 Because these areas of Bangladesh are poor,
05:06 education is the best avenue
05:08 to empower the people to have a better life.
05:12 You can see that
05:13 with the children's testimonies.
05:14 Tell me what is your name?
05:17 My name is Moushumi Hastak.
05:19 So, tell me about your family?
06:55 Well, that's some story.
06:57 I mean, it's a story of a father dying.
07:01 It's a story of a mother struggling
07:04 and then her grandmother getting involved.
07:08 And what do you want to be when you leave here?
07:11 What is your dream?
07:33 Well, their family simply doesn't have any funds.
07:37 And so, the nursing
07:40 even though there is some sponsorship
07:42 for nursing,
07:44 the students have to raise something themselves.
07:47 But, you know, just with every story,
07:49 with every explanation,
07:52 it just gives us an in-depth view
07:54 of the struggles that these kids face.
07:57 And it's just so great to me
08:00 this young lady and to hear her story.
08:03 And we just hope that people will continue,
08:06 new people will join the sponsorship program
08:11 with Child Impact.
08:13 Each child has a unique story
08:15 and a different struggle and hardship.
08:18 So many of them are brave and actively doing their best
08:21 to break out of the almost certain
08:24 life of poverty
08:25 they will have unless they get help.
08:28 It is touching to sit down and hear each story.
08:31 Okay, so where did you meet?
08:34 At BASC. At BASC.
08:35 Yeah, yeah.
08:36 All right, college, college sweethearts.
08:39 Yeah, yeah..
08:40 All right.
08:42 And you have a family?
08:43 Yes. All right.
08:45 So tell us about your family?
08:48 Actually, God has given us two children.
08:52 First one was a baby boy.
08:56 And we have a sad incident in 2013.
09:03 Our first baby boy, he died in an accident,
09:08 electric shock here at SAMS.
09:10 Very sad.
09:12 After that we prayed a lot,
09:17 so that God has given us another baby girl,
09:22 now she's studying in class KG.
09:27 So how old is she?
09:29 Six years. Six years.
09:31 Right. Okay.
09:32 Each one has different struggles.
09:35 But what they have in common is that they smile
09:37 and are grateful through it all.
09:40 So how do you feel
09:42 your life would have been without education?
09:46 Do you see people still in the village
09:48 with no education?
09:50 How important was education to you?
09:53 Actually, education is very important
09:56 for every human beings.
09:59 All human have rights to get the education,
10:02 but actually we are lucky
10:05 that we got the privilege to study.
10:07 But in village people,
10:10 many people are not getting such a privilege,
10:13 so there is no end of learning.
10:17 So, education is very important.
10:21 It's amazing to see how parents and families
10:23 go out of their way
10:24 to seek help and push for any sort of chance
10:27 to help their children.
10:29 Child Impact is changing so many lives,
10:31 even though this is only a fraction of the need.
10:35 Tell me about your family?
11:31 Well, she's got a bold dream to be a nurse.
11:36 But if that's not affordable, then she can be a teacher.
11:43 How important do you think
11:44 sponsorship is for these children?
11:47 Do these children come
11:48 from big, rich families
11:50 or are they from rural families?
11:52 How important is sponsorship to the children here?
11:55 Yes.
11:57 You know that at SAMS many of the students,
12:02 they come from very poor families.
12:04 So, I think
12:06 that this sponsorship is very important for them
12:11 because of your sponsorship,
12:14 they are getting the privilege to study here,
12:17 so I think they are very lucky.
12:19 So, I feel proud
12:22 that you are helping the students.
12:25 So, sponsorship is very important
12:27 so that they can study properly.
12:30 Do you agree?
12:31 Yes, I very much agree with him.
12:35 Not because he's your husband but because you believe in it.
12:36 No, no, no.
12:39 Right. Okay.
12:40 Education is very important for all of us,
12:45 and sponsorship is also,
12:50 because of that they can get the good environment
12:54 to study here and shine in their life,
12:58 future life.
13:00 Thank you very much.
13:01 Okay. Thank you so much.
13:02 Right. Thank you, too.
13:06 With God's grace,
13:08 a lot of progress has been made,
13:10 positive change has been happening.
13:12 Even with hardships
13:14 and difficulties around the world,
13:15 there are people committed to making a difference
13:18 and reflecting the character of Christ.
13:22 A little help changes the entire future
13:24 for these kids.
13:26 It takes them out of a life
13:28 without any chance of prosperity,
13:30 and in some cases out of a dangerous situation.
13:34 But one of the greatest blessings
13:36 is that sponsorship gives them
13:37 the opportunity to know the gospel,
13:40 and develop a saving relationship
13:42 with Jesus Christ.
13:45 Thank you to all the sponsors
13:47 who have made each of these stories
13:48 have a brighter future.
