00:02 Child Impact International is an organization
00:05 that gives hope and fosters permanent positive change 00:08 in the lives of disadvantaged children and their communities. 00:13 Countries include Zambia, India, Nepal, 00:17 Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. 00:20 Child Impact's investment 00:22 in the lives of more than 3,500 children 00:24 continues to yield infinite returns. 00:27 Outreach spans from child rescue operations 00:30 to providing an education and a home 00:32 for deaf and blind children and orphans. 00:35 Above all, Child Impact's sponsors 00:38 give hope to the ones who need it the most. 00:53 When we left for Bangladesh, we had no idea what lay ahead. 01:02 We recorded the sights and sounds 01:03 of that vibrant country. 01:05 But it's the people that we remember, 01:08 the father and mother 01:10 who willingly work themselves into an early grave 01:12 in the hope that they can give their children a better life. 01:17 The children who find a way to live on 01:19 in spite of the hunger and loss. 01:24 We only got to record some of their stories 01:27 but the stories that we did capture 01:29 still inspire us. 01:31 Well, I think the lesson today 01:35 is that we're beginning to understand 01:37 the depth of the struggle of these families. 01:40 I mean, I really... 01:43 You know, I come here three or four times 01:47 and you meet these kids, 01:49 but today we heard them talking, 01:51 we heard, how old was that boy? 01:53 Seven? Nine. 01:55 Yeah. 01:56 Talking about a parent dying, the grandfather, grandparents 02:01 trying to get them to come to the school. 02:04 The struggle... 02:06 And it's consistent. 02:08 It's consistent of the kids we talk to. 02:12 And I just wonder 02:15 how we share that with people, 02:19 how we tell them because, 02:22 to be honest, it's much bigger than sponsoring a kid. 02:26 You know, we say sponsor a child, 02:29 but it's not, it's so deeper than that. 02:32 And I've really been touched. 02:35 I really see it as a challenge 02:38 of how we reflect to the people 02:42 that have a lot of how sponsoring a child 02:48 is just simply not that, 02:50 it is giving them an education 02:52 but the difference it's making to the families 02:56 because these families are struggling. 02:58 And in fact, struggling is a cliche. 03:02 They're desperate. They can't afford to feed. 03:05 These kids come here and get three meals a day. 03:08 And the change it's making in the life of a solo mum, 03:14 of a grandparent. 03:18 We can't... 03:19 We have trouble reflecting that. 03:21 It must give them hope. 03:24 The pain they must be suffering 03:26 because they can't feed their kids. 03:28 The pain they must be suffering 03:31 because they can't get an education. 03:33 And we actually cure that pain 03:37 because it's my responsibility 03:40 to share it. 03:41 I mean, you know, 03:43 I've got the responsibility of curing it. 03:47 I've got the... 03:48 Not curing it, it's sort of the wrong word 03:50 but how do we help these people, 03:54 how do we give them hope, 03:56 and I guess back... 03:58 You know, I'm gonna go back to my air-conditioned room 04:01 and I'm gonna fly back to America 04:04 whereas these people haven't got a push bike. 04:08 We see them walking on the side of the road. 04:12 They're struggling to feed their kids. 04:14 And yet we've got an opportunity 04:18 through what we do to help them. 04:21 Even though Jim has been to Bangladesh many times, 04:24 the need still moves him and with good reason. 04:28 It is easy to think 04:30 that having food and clean water 04:32 is a normal thing. 04:33 But for people in Bangladesh, 04:35 it is a luxury that few can afford. 04:38 While sponsorship is making a major difference 04:40 in the lives of many, most aren't so lucky. 04:47 If I am not studied here, 04:51 maybe I will lost. 04:54 Maybe my father and my mother 04:56 cannot provide me the good education, 04:59 maybe they cannot provide me good food, good shelter. 05:02 And it is the basic needs, they cannot provide me. 05:05 Even I was a student over here, 05:10 that time also they cannot... 05:11 They didn't provide me 05:13 the good things, the basic things. 05:18 I'm from beside the village like Kaligram, I'm from there. 05:22 And actually, I was abandoned by my mother 05:24 and she wanted to bury me alive. 05:26 So foreigners went there and then they brought me. 05:31 They brought me back here. Like we was at Dhaka. 05:33 And then from Dhaka, I moved to another school, 05:35 and then I came here. 05:37 And so if I wouldn't come here, 05:39 I don't know what my life would be, maybe, 05:42 like, I wouldn't get a chance to study 05:44 or I'd get married in this little age. 05:47 So I'm very excited. 05:49 Like I'm very happy that I'm here 05:51 and that God brought me here. 05:55 And my parents could not pay my school fees. 05:59 So, I enjoy this work 06:02 because when I see, I visit around villages, 06:08 so I know the people and they are needy 06:11 and sometimes they... 06:13 And approach to me and they cry to me 06:16 and they ask for sponsorship. 06:19 So I am interested to walk behind them 06:22 so that I can do something for them actually. 06:27 My father died at a very early age. 06:30 After his death, I moved 06:32 to a rural village with my aunt. 06:34 My aunt told me 06:36 there was a boarding school called SAMS. 06:39 She said I can go and get an education there. 06:42 Somehow my aunt was able to bring me all the way here. 06:48 I've been here ever since. 06:51 And I am now in 11th grade. 06:54 Even though they have gone through so much, 06:56 they still push on due to a faith in God 06:59 and helpful support of sponsors, 07:02 viewers like you help push the mission forward. 07:05 With each episode that airs, 07:06 we see more and more support 07:08 that matches the ever-increasing need 07:10 that comes from the countries that Child Impact works in. 07:15 Every donation, no matter how small 07:17 has been used to great effect. 07:20 The construction of the new building at KMMS, 07:22 which we began in faith has seen a lot of progress. 07:26 So here we are on the roof of the building 07:30 that's going to be demolished. 07:32 And this part of the building over here 07:35 is what it was originally, a hospital 07:37 built over 100 years ago, 07:40 which the school has been using for about 40 years. 07:43 And this part where I'm standing 07:45 was built about 40 years ago, 07:47 and although, it doesn't show on a dry day like this, 07:51 the water is coming down is actually going through 07:54 what I'm standing on 07:55 and weakening the concrete below. 07:58 It does give us a great view of the school 08:00 and great trees and grounds that they have, 08:04 but it's going to be an exciting development 08:08 to replace this building. 08:09 So the new building that 08:11 we're going to build here in Bangladesh 08:13 is going to have a wide range of uses, 08:17 at the frontend, 08:18 there's going to be a preschool, 08:19 which people will pay to bring their students to, 08:23 that's going to be our income generating project. 08:27 Then the rest of the building is going to include 08:29 an administration block, a new library, 08:32 a new science room, and a number of classrooms. 08:37 So this is going to be a big boost 08:38 to this mission school, 08:40 it's going to help attract new students, 08:43 and will be a big boost for the students at the school. 08:48 There's still so much more to be done 08:50 and more support is needed. 08:51 But God has touched the hearts of many and is placed a beacon 08:55 that we'll continue to witness and help the locals at KMMS. 08:59 This building will help younger children to attend 09:02 from around the area. 09:06 Food has become a major problem since the pandemic. 09:09 And the changes to this unpredictable world 09:11 has made it harder. 09:13 Even through all the challenges, 09:15 we have been able to provide 09:16 much needed help for the schools. 09:18 We've had a lot of appeals because of the need for help. 09:21 But the faith and generosity of you, the sponsors, 09:25 cannot be understated. 09:28 This is a major effort even with everyone working together, 09:31 but we still cannot give up. 09:36 The effect of the pandemic to Bangladesh 09:38 has been staggering. 09:39 Work has vanished and factories are closed down. 09:42 Food is hard to come by or afford. 09:45 Children have to be protected 09:46 and schools need to keep operating. 09:48 Even though the needs shown 09:50 in the last Bangladesh visit were great, 09:52 it's become all but exponentially worse. 09:56 There are a lot of children in Bangladesh 09:57 who need sponsorship to keep going. 10:00 But thanks to our sponsors like you, 10:02 they are still able to have an education 10:04 during a major crisis and food to eat. 10:07 How many children do you manage? 10:09 We manage over 300, 2,000... 10:14 3,200 students. 10:16 3,200, okay. 10:18 We have four field managers, 10:21 and I am supervising them. 10:23 And we have big and small, around ten partners. 10:29 Right. Yeah. 10:30 These children are being helped thanks to the sponsors 10:33 that they have. 10:35 You can see the joy they feel. 10:38 Teachers are grateful for the future they have, 10:40 students see their own teachers demonstrating what is possible. 10:46 The sponsorship is very important 10:50 for Bangladesh 10:52 because here is the needy children. 10:55 They need to go to school. 10:58 Many students out there, 11:01 they don't have opportunity to go to school. 11:04 So it's really helping our country 11:07 and even the church 11:10 has great work through schools. 11:14 Our school is a mission outreach, 11:18 where whoever can come 11:22 and study here. 11:24 And the sponsorship is helping so much 11:28 to have the growth 11:31 of the church and children. 11:35 And the young people, 11:36 while they are coming in the school, 11:38 they are really falling in love with Jesus and accepting Jesus 11:43 as their personal Savior. 11:45 This is really marvelous work. 11:47 So preparing for this world and the world to come. 11:54 The effects of sponsorship is timeless 11:56 and is one of the strongest witnessing tools 11:58 for these countries. 12:00 There is so much need, 12:01 but every single child helps improve the country 12:04 and brings others out of poverty. 12:06 Each success story is a witness for people 12:09 to hear the message of Jesus 12:11 and show how these places are helping them grow. 12:15 It's people in Bangladesh having the right tools 12:18 that enable them to be a beacon of hope, 12:20 through their own testimony. 12:24 God has been good to His projects and plans. 12:27 We are able to see KMMS keep growing with sponsorship. 12:31 Each child both shown and not shown 12:34 are being cared for 12:35 and are happy to see their futures 12:37 become more and more of a reality. 12:39 Each number counts, 12:41 each child has a story, 12:43 and each story can be a witness for God. 12:47 Thank you again, sponsors, for everything. 12:50 The journey isn't over, 12:52 it's just the beginning for the honor and glory of God. 12:57 Thank you, sponsor. 12:59 Thank you.
