00:02 Child Impact International is an organization
00:05 that gives hope and fosters permanent, 00:07 positive change in the lives of disadvantaged children 00:10 and their communities. 00:13 Countries include Zambia, Kenya, India, Nepal, 00:19 Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. 00:22 Child Impact's investment in the lives 00:24 of more than 3,500 children 00:26 continues to yield infinite returns. 00:29 Outreach spans from child rescue operations 00:32 to providing an education and a home 00:34 for deaf and blind children and orphans. 00:37 Above all, Child Impact's sponsors 00:40 give hope to the ones who need it the most. 00:52 India is a large country full of life and culture. 00:56 There are so many great things that this country has to offer. 01:01 But in the shadow of India's magnificent buildings 01:04 are many who are suffering. 01:07 Suffering from a lack of medical care and education 01:10 that lifts them out of poverty. 01:13 Child Impact International 01:14 is directly involved in sponsorship 01:17 that provides the means for an education 01:19 to hundreds of children 01:21 and is now expanding to help those in India 01:23 who are in desperate need of medical care. 01:26 It all began with a man who grew up 01:29 in one of Child Impact's orphanages Elim Home. 01:32 His name is Dr. Swamidas. 01:35 Dr. Swamidas was a sponsored orphan 01:39 at Elim Home in Hyderabad. 01:42 After being sponsored and having a full education. 01:45 He then went on to get his doctor's degree, 01:49 and that was by working at night and studying 01:53 during the day. 01:54 He is now a fully accredited doctor in India. 01:59 He dedicates his time to serving the poor. 02:03 He came from a very poor background. 02:05 He was an orphan, and now he runs his ministry, 02:10 serving the poor, poor woman, 02:13 poor children in the city of Hyderabad. 02:18 The story begins during the early days of Elim Home, 02:21 an orphanage that Child Impact supports. 02:23 Ravi, who was the sixth child start living there 02:26 remembers meeting Dr. Swamidas for the first time. 02:30 So and he just came he was very lean and little boy, 02:33 but then we were about, I would certainly say I was six plus 02:37 and Swamidas we about three and a half, I said three years. 02:40 Remember, you know, feeding him because he was too small. 02:44 So yeah, he was like we were really good friends, 02:47 we are very much affectionate to each other. 02:50 And that's how I know I am very much associated 02:52 with Dr. Swamidas at that small age. 02:54 At just three years old Swamidas's father died 02:58 from tuberculosis, his mother was unable to care for him. 03:02 So Swamidas was taken to Elim Home. 03:05 When I'm in Elim, I forgot all those sadness 03:09 and I was happy that I was received very well. 03:13 And everybody welcome me with a smile. 03:17 And at that time, I thought that I was in a right place 03:21 where my life would change. 03:23 And change, it did. 03:25 The spirit of helping others providing for their needs 03:29 shaped young Swamidas's life 03:30 toward one of service to others. 03:33 And while he had the desire to serve others, 03:36 it wasn't until a certain moment 03:38 when he realized just how he was going to do that. 03:41 So when I was in my fourth grade, 03:43 suddenly I got fever so one of my team took me to hospital 03:48 or a small clinic which is available at our Elim Home. 03:51 So seeing the doctor, the way she approached me 03:55 or the way she talk to me and the way she treated me, 03:59 that time I fixed my life, this is a good job 04:02 so that I could serve the people 04:04 who are suffering or who are in need or even in pain. 04:08 So that's where the doctor which the way doctor talk to me 04:14 impressed me and put me a thought in my mind 04:18 that I should do or become a doctor. 04:20 After leaving Elim Home, Ravi and Swamidas 04:24 lost touch with one another for many years. 04:27 Ravi was working for Child Impact as a Project Manager 04:30 and then a Field Officer. 04:32 While Swamidas was going to school to become a doctor. 04:35 One day they ran into each other. 04:38 And then I started talking to him 04:39 and, you know, I started asking what exactly he's doing. 04:43 Then he said, like, because I know him from childhood. 04:46 And then I suddenly like my memories went back 04:49 when we were kids, and then I could understand 04:52 that he has his aim. 04:54 I think his goal has become, his dream has become true. 04:59 His dream has become true. 05:00 And I was so happy when I started, 05:03 you know, seeing his services, I was very much impressed. 05:05 And immediately, I told him like 05:08 I have a desire to work with you. 05:10 And then he said I would be... 05:12 And he said, "Brother Ravi, I would be very happy 05:14 to have you as an elder brother to support me 05:17 in the service that he's doing." 05:19 So he left his job and joined me 05:21 doing the services, helping me out. 05:23 His help is a great blessing to me. 05:28 Without his help, I cannot... 05:30 Sometimes run because if I have to go with the patient, 05:33 I have to close down the hospital 05:34 and take him to the hospital. 05:36 So that need is not with me. 05:38 Ravi used to take the patient is to follow the patient 05:43 after the discharge also, and is to be a mediator 05:48 between the doctor and the patient 05:49 because this rural patient cannot understand 05:51 the doctor's language. 05:53 So his need is a great help to me. 05:56 So it will be easy for me to handle the cases. 06:00 So that is how his help was are very much in need of time. 06:04 The need that they are meeting is great. 06:07 Every kind of need is brought to Dr. Swamidas's clinic. 06:11 Lot of people flow to my clinic every day, 06:14 mostly the older people, 06:15 the older as well as the children. 06:18 So most of the cases, I see from one month baby 06:23 till 60 years old because I'm an emergency physician. 06:26 So I could handle any case like in these situations. 06:30 So I could give them the first aid 06:32 which is necessary for them. 06:34 So a lot of children's, I'd say, 06:37 because they don't have proper food or balanced diet. 06:42 So I mean to say balance diet because a lot of them, 06:45 in their diet they lack some proteins or some vitamins, 06:48 and then due to that they fall ill. 06:50 So they come and then I explained to their parents 06:54 like this is how you need to feed them. 06:56 Or this is how you need to grow them 06:58 or take care of their health. 07:00 So this is... 07:01 A lot of cases of children as well as older people. 07:05 When I see the older people, I'll feel sorry for them 07:07 because if they have sons also, 07:10 they won't take care of them properly. 07:12 So they come with the stick, just walking, 07:17 and nobody to care for their pain. 07:21 So I feel happy when I see them. 07:23 And the next day, when they get relieved, 07:26 they have a smile on their face, saying the thank you. 07:29 So that gives me a lot of satisfaction for me. 07:34 But not everyone is able to make the trip 07:37 to Dr. Swamidas clinic. 07:39 Some of the patients, 07:42 they cannot come to me every time. 07:44 So they need a regular dressing or regular attention 07:48 for their illness. 07:50 So I'll visit their houses, take care of them 07:53 and do the dressing if somebody is injured, 07:57 or somebody if they have met with a snake bite, 08:00 I have to go for the dressing, 08:02 defreeze their leg or the wound 08:05 and clean it thoroughly 08:06 and put a proper dressing. 08:09 So every time they cannot bring me that patient to me 08:13 because it's a lot of expense for them 08:16 for travel as well as no... 08:18 If nobody is along with the patient, 08:20 she alone cannot come out or he cannot come to me. 08:24 So it's better for me to go to them than they come into me. 08:30 The work that Dr. Swamidas 08:31 and Ravi are doing is very important. 08:34 For the people in rural areas, 08:36 medical help is almost impossible to find. 08:40 But Dr. Swamidas's passion to help people 08:43 goes beyond healing them physically. 08:45 Sometimes I go through easy way to look 08:47 where it is return 08:49 that health and healing is one of the main ministry 08:52 because our ancestors are some of the prophets, 08:55 they mainly are missionaries. 08:58 Wherever they are, they established two things. 09:00 One is church, one is hospital, 09:03 and one is education. 09:04 So these three things. 09:06 So equally, these three are very important 09:08 in a Christian spirituality. 09:10 So I selected health ministry where I could treat them 09:14 and tell them about the love of Jesus, 09:16 how God Jesus also healed so many 09:19 because Jesus also healed so many people came to Jesus 09:23 not to hear Him, but to get healed. 09:26 So this is how which has a lot of impact on me 09:29 and this is the thing I chose to do. 09:33 All the amazing work that Dr. Swamidas is doing 09:36 can be traced back to sponsorship. 09:40 Like being a sponsored child which always gives us 09:44 a pleasure to help someone when we grew up. 09:46 So that is how it has brought a great impact on me 09:51 because if that sponsorship was not there, 09:54 or they would have not helped me, 09:56 I would have been somewhere in the fields working 09:59 so that is how the sponsorship had changed, 10:02 really changed my life. 10:04 As sponsors, the difference you make 10:06 is not in just one person's life, 10:09 you are empowering a person who then wants to help 10:11 and empower those around them. 10:14 What you give is not just an education or a meal, 10:18 it is a gift that grows exponentially to bless tens, 10:22 hundreds, even thousands of lives. 10:35 Child Impact is very excited that we could help Dr. Swamidas 10:40 with an ambulance and also help fund a driver 10:44 and its operations for the next year. 10:48 We are happy now that we have an ambulance 10:51 sponsored by Child Impact International 10:53 through a Child Rescue Operations. 10:56 And we feel it is a big blessing to have 10:59 that because not only for us to work with, 11:03 but it is helping a lot of other people, 11:05 you know, when the need as such, 11:07 you know, emergency cases, it has been a very big help, 11:10 and we want to thank you... 11:13 We especially thank the team has come forward that donors, 11:17 the sponsors has come forward to help us to have this 11:20 so that sometimes we can make patients 11:23 more comfortable taking them to higher medical centers, 11:27 or to the hospitals into cities. 11:31 So I want to thank, especially Child Impact International 11:34 for being coming forward to help somehow 11:39 to continue this ministry over here. 11:41 Once again, we want to thank the Child Impact International 11:45 wholeheartedly. 11:47 Thank you. 12:15 Hi, I'm Jean Boonstra, 12:17 Associate Speaker at the Voice of Prophecy. 12:19 Now I'm sure that you're aware of the global problem 12:23 of human trafficking. 12:24 And in places in the world like India and Nepal, 12:27 for example, this problem of human trafficking, 12:30 well, it's very real. 12:31 Not long ago, I was in India and I learned a little bit more 12:35 about what happens in that area. 12:37 Young girls are tricked, 12:39 usually girls who are disadvantaged, 12:41 maybe from a poor village or community. 12:44 And they're tricked into becoming part 12:46 of the sex industry and into prostitution. 12:49 It's extremely sad. 12:51 And, you know, these young girls, they're caught in a web 12:54 and a lifestyle that they don't want to be a part of, 12:57 but once they're in it, 12:59 it's very difficult to find a way out. 13:02 When we think about the problem of human trafficking, 13:04 we often think about these girls, 13:07 but it often affects young boys as well. 13:10 Young boys in India, for example, 13:12 they're caught and they're used for child labor. 13:15 They're put into begging rings, 13:16 and they're often taken advantage of as well. 13:19 And it's not just these young girls and boys either, 13:22 this affects infants as well. 13:25 Young babies are left on the side of the road 13:27 abandoned with no one to care for them. 13:30 Child Impact International's Operation Child Rescue 13:34 addresses each of these three issues. 13:37 They have an answer, a solution, and an opportunity 13:40 to offer hope and a way out for these people caught 13:44 in human trafficking. 13:45 At Voice of Prophecy, we are privileged to partner 13:48 with Child Impact's Operation Child Rescue 13:51 to help these young girls that are caught in prostitution, 13:55 the young boys doing labor at a very young age, 13:58 and these young babies that simply need a home 14:01 and someone to love them. 14:03 It's our privilege to partner with Child Impact's Operation 14:06 Child Rescue, and be part of the solution 14:10 to give that hope. 14:12 Now is this something that appeals to you 14:14 and would you like to learn more about 14:16 and be a part of this? 14:18 Well, I encourage you to get in touch 14:20 with Child Impact International today. 14:22 They would love to hear from you. |
