00:01 Child Impact International is an organization
00:04 that gives hope and fosters permanent,
00:07 positive change in the lives of disadvantaged children
00:10 and their communities.
00:12 Countries include Zambia, Kenya,
00:16 India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
00:22 Child Impact's investment in the lives
00:24 of more than 3,500 children
00:26 continues to yield infinite returns.
00:29 Outreach spans from child rescue operations
00:31 to providing an education
00:33 and a home for deaf and blind children and orphans.
00:36 Above all, Child Impact's sponsors
00:39 give hope to the ones who need it the most.
00:55 India is a beautiful country,
00:57 its forests and mountains are a sight to behold.
01:01 But those that get to enjoy these sites the most
01:03 are also deprived in other necessary areas.
01:07 In the area of education,
01:09 Child Impact has been doing many great things
01:11 by sponsoring children in schools all over India.
01:15 One school that especially highlights this
01:18 is the Ongole School,
01:19 otherwise known as Fjarli Academy.
01:22 In India, we have many different types
01:25 of church mission schools that we support.
01:29 One is what we call the Ongole School.
01:32 It's actually the Fjarli Academy,
01:35 and it's located near a town called Darsi,
01:39 near a big city of Ongole in India.
01:43 We often call it the Ongole School.
01:46 This school was built by Maranatha.
01:49 It's a boarding school and a day school,
01:52 and it's located in a rural area
01:54 by many poor communities.
01:57 This school is one of our largest sponsorship,
02:01 and it has over 100 sponsored children
02:04 by Child Impact International.
02:07 Mr. Prasad, the principal, runs it very, very well,
02:12 and him and his team
02:13 do a great job in educating the children,
02:17 but ensuring that the school is well managed and efficient.
02:21 We're proud of the work that they do.
02:24 And we're also excited that the sponsorship program
02:28 with Child Impact International
02:30 can make a difference in these boarding schools.
02:41 The Ongole School is able to positively impact
02:44 the lives of children
02:45 that otherwise would have no chance at an education.
02:50 This school has a proven track record
02:52 and has been operating for many years.
02:56 The school is established in the year 2009
02:59 with 100 students.
03:00 And every year,
03:02 we are increasing the enrollment.
03:04 Last year we had around 400 students,
03:07 but because of COVID-19 pandemic,
03:10 we have closed on our school for 11 months.
03:13 In the month of January 2021, we have reopened our classes.
03:17 So children are coming back.
03:20 They're getting education through our school.
03:23 At present, we have 270 students,
03:28 but there are another 40 children
03:30 who are yet to come and join with us.
03:33 It is impressive that the school
03:34 has been able to face many challenges
03:36 and still continue to grow.
03:39 The need in rural India extends beyond poor villages.
03:43 As missionaries established churches,
03:45 the need for an Adventist education
03:47 grows with the new church.
03:49 Schools like Ongole help to fulfill that need.
03:53 So here we have a Christian institution,
03:57 but at the same time,
03:58 there are a number of villages
04:00 in this Prakasam district in this area
04:03 where we have churches.
04:05 So all the church members,
04:07 they send their children to our school to educate them,
04:11 because we give them Adventist education,
04:14 and the church members believe that
04:16 this is the best school
04:18 compared to the government schools.
04:20 Therefore, we need the school in this area,
04:23 and we need to educate the poor and needy children
04:27 who belongs to our church.
04:29 If the Ongole School was not there,
04:31 the Adventist children in that area
04:33 would suffer from a lack of good education.
04:37 Also, they wouldn't have an environment
04:40 where their faith can grow strong.
04:43 But this school doesn't just offer these great things
04:45 for Adventist children only,
04:47 they offer it to as many needy children as they can.
04:52 Because the need is great,
04:54 Ongole School needed a large campus.
04:56 This is our dining hall and at a time
05:00 we can accommodate 500, boys and girls together.
05:04 They can sit and have their three meals,
05:06 breakfast, lunch and supper.
05:08 At the same time, we have different hostels
05:11 for boys and girls separately.
05:13 So we can accommodate 250 boys
05:16 and 250 girls in our campus.
05:19 At the same time we have a number of classrooms,
05:23 we actually we have up to 10th grade.
05:26 But even if we start 11th and 12th grade,
05:30 we have accommodation enough of classrooms.
05:33 And we're also having a science labs like
05:36 Physics, Chemistry and Biology, we do have a computer lab,
05:40 and we have all the facilities
05:42 in our campus like drinking water,
05:45 and staying children in the hostels,
05:48 a playground we have, so it is very spacious.
05:53 Even our staff members can stay in the campus
05:55 around with the children.
05:57 So we don't need to ask
05:59 our staff members to stay outside.
06:01 So all the facilities are available and, of course,
06:04 parents are happy, our students are happy,
06:07 they move around
06:09 and they are getting good education.
06:10 We have very good staff members in our school.
06:14 While it might seem like there are not many people
06:16 in rural India, in fact, the majority live there.
06:19 According to the World Bank, who compiled the data,
06:22 about 65% of the Indian population
06:25 live in rural areas.
06:28 Since many of the children that attend Ongole School
06:31 live at home and just go there for classes,
06:33 transportation is a major issue
06:36 because they live many miles away.
06:38 So our school is located in the field,
06:42 it is away from town almost 15 kilometers,
06:46 and we don't have any villages nearby
06:50 to get the children.
06:52 And we have only the boarding children
06:54 coming from different places,
06:56 but we don't have even day-scholars too,
06:58 and therefore we requested
07:00 Child Impact International to help us
07:03 regarding a bus where we can go around 15 kilometers
07:07 and bring the children and again by evening
07:10 we can send them back.
07:11 So with the help of Child Impact,
07:14 we are able to get around 60 students
07:17 from outside as day-scholars
07:19 and they are getting Christian education
07:21 in our school.
07:23 Providing transportation to Ongole School
07:25 is not the only way that Child Impact helps.
07:28 The main way is through sponsoring children
07:30 that would otherwise have no hope of an education,
07:33 let alone one as good as Ongole provides.
07:37 But there are few parents
07:39 who are able to pay fee for their children.
07:41 At the same time, there are few parents
07:43 who are not able to pay,
07:44 we have orphans, we have semi-orphans,
07:47 and we are approaching Child Impact International
07:51 to sponsor our children.
07:53 And whenever we ask them, they are coming forward
07:57 to support few children in our school.
08:00 So at present, we have 140 students
08:04 who are getting education through Fjarli Academy.
08:08 Each one of those children woke up
08:10 with not only the knowledge to be successful in this life,
08:13 but also a saving knowledge of the world to come.
08:19 While we are not able to show the 150 students

09:57 for sponsoring me
10:00 These are just a few of the children
10:01 whose lives are being changed every day,
10:04 thanks to faithful sponsors like you.
10:15 Another area where your support
10:17 has made a significant difference
10:19 is donating to provide rice for the schools
10:21 that have greatly suffered due to the global pandemic.
10:25 Fjarli Academy was one of the schools
10:27 that has received rice from Child Impact donors.
10:30 Here we have 100 rice bags, and each bag contains 25 kgs.
10:36 And we all know that we have closed down our schools
10:40 because of COVID-19 pandemic,
10:42 and there is no income for our schools
10:45 and our teachers are getting half salaries.
10:47 And therefore we have requested Child Impact International,
10:50 USA to help us regarding the provisions,
10:55 and the donors
10:56 and the Child Impact International
10:58 has come forward to help us
11:00 by giving these provisions,
11:01 and these provisions will be a great help for our children,
11:04 for our families,
11:06 so that we can take care of our needs,
11:08 and we can survive during this pandemic.
11:11 So on behalf of the Fjarli Academy
11:13 of Seventh-day Adventist at Darsi,
11:15 we would like to thank Child Impact International
11:18 and the donors who have come forward to help us
11:21 by giving us these provisions.
11:23 We want to thank them so much.
11:36 Child Impact is so proud of the Ongole School in India.
11:40 Hi, I'm Tom Evans, Child Impact CEO.
11:43 Ongole School is one of the larger schools
11:46 of our India sponsorship program.
11:49 It is an Adventist Mission School
11:51 and serves many small, rural villages.
11:54 The school is well run and achieves great results
11:57 and also has a high spiritual atmosphere.
12:00 After COVID, we hope to build the school
12:02 to over 200 sponsor students.
12:05 The school has over 250 boarding students
12:07 and two buses which go each day
12:10 and bring day students from villages.
12:12 Sponsorship gives these children hope,
12:15 it gives their families hope,
12:17 everyone has hope for the future.
12:20 We've seen many cases where children have gone back
12:23 and had spiritual influence on their own parents.
12:27 Would you please consider sponsoring a child?
12:29 Well, if you don't want that monthly commitment,
12:31 you can go to our website
12:32 and select the unsponsored fund.
12:36 That's childimpact.org and the unsponsored fund.
12:40 You can make a difference.
13:10 I just got a letter
13:12 from our sponsored daughter Sheila.
13:13 I've got to tell you,
13:15 there is nothing like getting one of these letters.
13:17 Our family has been able to sponsor her
13:19 through Child Impact International.
13:21 And because of that,
13:23 she's got a great place to live.
13:24 She's got good food.
13:25 She's got great clothing.
13:27 Best of all, I now found out she's in college,
13:30 she's in nursing school.
13:32 There's nothing like getting a letter like this.
13:35 You need to start getting these letters too.
13:37 Listen, through Child Impact you can make a huge difference
13:41 in the life of a child.
13:42 And I promise you,
13:44 it's gonna make a huge difference
13:45 in your life too.
13:53 Hi, I am Jaime Jorge, and I am honored to serve
13:57 as a Child Impact International ambassador.
14:01 I've been able to go to India and Myanmar.
14:04 And during my visits,
14:05 I have met hundreds of young people
14:08 that are sponsored by folks just like you
14:11 who are making the lives of these young people
14:14 meaningful.
14:15 They receive a Christian education.
14:18 They have hope and a future.
14:20 Would you consider
14:21 being a sponsor for Child Impact
14:24 and changing the life of a young person today?
