00:01 Welcome back. We're talking today about fear.
00:03 The fears that I experience, the fears that you experience, 00:07 and how the Lord Jesus Christ wants to bring us deliverance. 00:11 Today we identified six different categories of fear. 00:15 We talked about fears about faith, fears about family, 00:19 fears about health, fears about relationships, 00:23 fears about future, and fears about finances. 00:28 Next week we will talk about how the Lord Jesus Christ wants 00:32 to bring us deliverance from those fears that have bound us. 00:37 First though is our application, our assignment for this week. 00:41 And that is three-fold. 00:43 I have my journal here. 00:44 It's right in front of me. 00:46 This one was given to me by my mother in law, Valerie. 00:49 I love this journal, and it's something that I can use often, 00:53 and it stays open, and it's nice and flat. 00:55 So pick out a journal, or pick out a piece of paper; 00:58 something. It doesn't matter. 00:59 First write down what your fear is. 01:03 You might have a different fear than any of the ones that I've 01:07 mentioned here today. 01:09 It doesn't matter. 01:10 Identify what your fear is. 01:12 I've identified here, this is just an example, for this fear, 01:16 God is untrustworthy. 01:22 Next identify the lie. 01:24 What is the lie that Satan has told you? 01:27 What lie leads to that fear? 01:31 In this case I think we could say, 01:33 God causes evil and suffering. 01:39 If we think that, if we think God causes the evil 01:42 and suffering in this world then, of course, 01:45 we won't trust God. 01:48 Number three is Scripture. 01:50 Identify a Scripture that you can claim, that you can use, 01:55 that will combat the lie of the enemy. 01:58 The Scripture I chose for this fear, and this particular lie, 02:02 is James 1:17. It says, Every good gift, and every perfect 02:07 gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights. 02:12 So God says, I want to bring you good and perfect gifts. 02:15 Of course I don't cause evil and suffering. 02:17 A second fear I have on my journal here 02:20 is health and disease. 02:22 The lie might be God is punishing me. 02:26 The Scripture God can use to combat that lie is John 9:3. 02:31 That's the story we talked about during the program with the 02:34 man who was born blind. 02:35 Neither this man sinned, nor his parents. 02:38 It wasn't either one of their faults. 02:40 God was not punishing them. 02:42 It was that the work of Christ should be glorified. 02:47 Whatever your fear is identify it this week. 02:50 Write down the lie, and then identify the Scripture 02:54 you can use to claim. 02:55 Next week we'll talk about how God wants to break that 02:59 fear and set us free. 03:00 Our closing Scripture is Romans 15:13. 03:04 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace 03:08 in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power 03:11 of the Holy Spirit. |
