00:01 Welcome back. We're talking today about purity;
00:03 purity of heart, purity of life. 00:06 Remember purity is a measure of how much we accept 00:10 the righteousness of Christ. 00:12 No matter what you've done, no matter where you've been, 00:16 no matter how bad, shameful, condemning you feel your past 00:22 is, the Lord Jesus says, I want to clean you up. 00:25 I want to clothe you with My dazzling white robe. 00:29 And you are God's princess, pure and white. 00:34 We talked today about several steps, several keys that we can 00:38 use in our own journey to purity of heart and life. 00:43 There's a Scripture that I love. 00:44 This is in 1 Corinthians 4, and I want to read this to you. 00:47 1 Corinthians 4. It's the second part of verse 9. 00:50 The Bible says, We have been made a spectacle to the world, 00:56 both to angels and to men. 00:58 You know what? God changes us. 01:01 God transforms us. 01:03 God pulls us out of the mud and covers us with His 01:07 righteous white robe. 01:09 Why? So that we can boast about how pure we are? 01:13 Of course not. It's so that He can get glory and honor, 01:18 so that someone can look at you and say, 01:20 You used to be this way, and all of a sudden you're different. 01:24 All of a sudden you're pure. 01:26 What happened? If God can do that for you, 01:29 then I want to follow Him, too. 01:32 God cleanses us, and changes us, and then almost puts 01:36 us on display for angels and for men, for people to see what 01:40 the power of God can do, what the transforming power of the 01:44 Word can effect in your life and in mine. 01:48 We talked today about making no provision for the flesh; 01:52 putting those things in our home away from us. 01:56 Putting them away, those things that maybe would feed that lust 02:01 in our heart, and in our soul. 02:03 This week I want to encourage you to go through your home. 02:07 Check out, maybe it's a TV show, maybe it's a movie. 02:12 Check out your books. 02:14 Look at your magazines, look at your CD's, check the internet, 02:19 and the sites that you go to. 02:21 See if any of those things are feeding the lust in your heart. 02:26 Only God can truly tell you, Is this something that's 02:30 feeding that, or is it not? 02:32 So go to God with an open heart. 02:35 Go before Him and say, God, I only want in my home 02:39 what is pleasing to You. 02:41 I was doing a woman's retreat, and we took the women, 02:45 we were talking about this concept of purity, 02:49 and how God wants to recreate in us His purity. 02:52 We talked about making no provision for the flesh. 02:55 And what were those things in our homes that God 02:57 wants us to get rid of? 02:59 We had a bonfire. We went outside. 03:03 They had a bonfire there. It was by a lake. 03:06 And the women wrote down on a scrap of paper... 03:09 Of course they're not at their home. 03:11 They can't physically get rid of stuff. 03:13 But they wrote down on a scrap of paper a person, a thing, 03:18 or an emotion that God was asking them to surrender, 03:24 that God was asking them to give to Him. 03:27 Maybe they were in the midst of an affair, and God was saying, 03:30 Break off that relationship. 03:33 They wrote that person's name down on the scrap of paper. 03:36 Maybe they had an addiction to soap operas like I did, 03:39 and God was saying, Get rid of that TV. 03:43 Maybe it was some other type of emotion. 03:46 Whatever it was, they wrote it down, we tossed our scraps 03:49 of paper into the bonfire, and then we sang, 03:52 All to Jesus I surrender, All to Him I freely give. 03:57 I will ever love and trust Him, In His presence daily live. 04:02 Now there's nothing obviously, radical about 04:05 throwing that in the fire. 04:06 It's symbolic. It symbolizes giving that to Jesus, 04:10 or going to God and saying, I can't even give it to You. 04:13 Would You take it from me? 04:15 So first this week, go through your home. 04:18 See what's in your home, and see what is God asking 04:21 you to get rid of? 04:23 2. Pray about an accountability partner. 04:27 Pray for a Godly woman to come into your home, 04:30 to come into your heart, come into your life 04:34 that you can pray with. 04:35 You can pray over the phone. 04:36 You don't even have to meet in person. 04:38 Someone who would be safe, someone who's confidential, 04:41 someone who's Godly, who seeks after God's heart. 04:45 Someone who's encouraging, someone who will encourage you 04:49 in your walk with Jesus. 04:51 Our next program next week, we're still going to still be 04:55 discussing the topic of purity. 04:57 But not from the aspect of our own hearts. 04:59 We're going to be looking at how do we guard 05:01 our brother's heart? 05:03 Our closing Scripture, as always, is Romans 15:13. 05:10 And I love this Scripture. 05:12 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace 05:17 in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power 05:19 of the Holy Spirit. |
