00:16 Hi, I'm Kelly Mowrer, and welcome to His Words are Life.
00:20 I'll be reading today from the King James Version, and
00:23 part of what we're going to read today has one of my
00:25 favorite stories about a miracle of Jesus. It was
00:28 the two blind men who were so desperate to get to God, for
00:32 healing, they cried out. The People told them to hush, and
00:35 just sit quietly by; but they wouldn't hush. They were
00:38 desperate to get what they knew they could only get from Jesus.
00:42 And that's the way that we should be. We should be
00:44 as desperate for only what we can see here in the Word,
00:47 hungry for these words of life. And the change they will bring
00:50 unto us - the vision and the sight they will give to us.
00:53 Before we go to these words today, let's go to God in prayer
00:56 Oh, God, thank you so much for the sight and the vision
01:02 that you give to us through your Holy Word. Thank you for
01:06 the blessing of this precious message to us. Help us to hunger
01:12 and thirst after it, and fill our souls with the beauty
01:15 of this nourishment from heaven. We ask all of these things in
01:19 Jesus name. We love you. Amen. I'm reading today from the book
01:24 of Matthew, the King James version,
01:25 beginning with chapter twenty. For the kingdom of heaven
01:30 is like unto a man that is an householder,
01:33 which went out early in the morning to hire labourers
01:36 into his vineyard. And when he had agreed with the labourers
01:39 for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
01:42 And when he went out about the third hour, and saw others
01:44 standing idle in the market place and said unto them,
01:47 God ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will
01:51 give you. And they went their way. Again he went out about
01:55 the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise.
01:58 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others
02:02 standing idle, and saith unto them. Why stand ye here
02:05 all the day idle? They say unto him, Because no man hath hired
02:09 us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard;
02:13 and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. So when even
02:18 was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward,
02:21 Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning
02:24 from the last unto the first and when they came that were hired
02:29 about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.
02:33 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have
02:37 received more; and they likewise received every man
02:41 a penny. And when they had received it, they murmured
02:45 against the goodman of the house, saying, These last have
02:49 wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us,
02:53 which have borne the burden and heat of the day. But he answered
02:57 one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong; didst not
03:01 thou agree with me for a penny? Take that thine is, and go thy
03:06 way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.
03:10 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own?
03:14 Is thine eye evil, because I am good? So the last shall be first
03:19 and the first last: for many be called but few chosen.
03:24 And Jesus, going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart
03:28 in the way, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to
03:32 Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief
03:35 priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him
03:39 to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock,
03:42 and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall
03:47 rise again. Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children
03:52 with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of
03:55 him. And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him,
04:01 Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right
04:06 hand and the other on the left in thy kingdom.
04:08 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask.
04:14 Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be
04:18 baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
04:22 They say unto him, We are able. And he saith unto them,
04:26 Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism
04:31 that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my
04:35 left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for
04:40 whom it is prepared of my Father. And when the ten
04:45 heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two
04:48 brethren. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that
04:53 the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them,
04:57 and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
05:01 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great
05:07 among you, let him be your minister; and whosoever will
05:12 be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son
05:17 of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to
05:22 give his life a ransom for many. And as they departed
05:27 from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. And behold,
05:31 two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus
05:36 passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord,
05:39 thou son of David. And the multitude rebuked them,
05:43 because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more,
05:48 saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.
05:51 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said,
05:55 What will ye that I shall do unto you? They say unto him,
05:59 Lord, that our eyes may be opened. So Jesus had compassion
06:05 on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes
06:09 received sight, and they followed him.
06:12 I am reading from Matthew, chapter twenty-one.
06:16 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to
06:21 Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus
06:25 two disciples, saying unto them, Go into the village over against
06:30 you and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt
06:34 with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. And if any man
06:38 say aught unto you, ye shall say The Lord hath need of them,
06:42 and straightway he will send them. All this was done,
06:46 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet,
06:49 saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh
06:54 unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal
06:59 of an ass. And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded
07:04 them, and brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their
07:08 clothes, and they set him thereon, and a very great
07:12 multitude spread their garments in the way;
07:15 others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in
07:18 the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed,
07:22 cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he
07:26 that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
07:29 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was
07:33 moved, saying, Who is this? And the multitude said This is Jesus
07:39 the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee. And Jesus went into
07:43 the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought
07:46 in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers,
07:49 and the seats of them that sold doves, and said unto them, It is
07:54 written, My house shall be called the house of prayer;
07:58 but ye have made it a den of thieves. And the blind and the
08:03 lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. And when
08:07 the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things
08:10 that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying
08:13 Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased,
08:17 and said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith
08:23 unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes
08:28 and sucklings thou has perfected praise?
08:30 And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany;
08:34 and he lodged there. Now in the morning as he returned into the
08:39 city, he hungered. And when he saw a fig tree in the way,
08:42 he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only,
08:47 and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward
08:52 forever. And presently the fig tree withered away. And when
08:57 the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, How soon
09:00 is the fig tree withered away! Jesus answered and said unto
09:04 them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not,
09:09 ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree,
09:12 but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed,
09:17 and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things
09:22 whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall
09:26 receive. And when he was come into the temple,
09:29 the chief priests and the elders of the people came
09:32 unto him as he was teaching, and said, by what authority
09:35 doest thou these things? and who gave the this authority?
09:39 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you
09:45 one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you
09:49 by what authority I do these things. The baptism of John,
09:53 whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with
09:59 themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say
10:03 unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? But if we shall say
10:08 Of men; we fear the people; for they all hold John as a prophet.
10:13 And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell.
10:17 And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority
10:23 I do these things. But what think ye? A certain man
10:27 had two sons; and he came to the first and said, Son, go work
10:31 today in my vineyard. He answered and said, I will not:
10:35 but afterward he repented, and went. And he came to the second,
10:40 and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir:
10:45 and went not. Whether of them twain did the will of his father
10:51 They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them,
10:56 Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots
11:00 go into the kingdom of God before you.
11:03 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye
11:06 believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots
11:09 believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not
11:13 afterward that ye might believe him. Hear another parable:
11:17 There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard,
11:21 and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and
11:25 built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a
11:29 far country: And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent
11:33 his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the
11:37 fruits of it. And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one,
11:41 and killed another, and stoned another. Again, he sent other
11:46 servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
11:50 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying,
11:54 They will reverence my son. But when the husbandmen
11:58 saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir;
12:02 come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
12:06 And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard,
12:09 and slew him. When the lord therefore of the vineyard
12:13 cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
12:16 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those
12:20 wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other
12:23 husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
12:27 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures,
12:31 The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become
12:37 the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is
12:41 marvelous in our eyes? Therefore say I unto you,
12:44 The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to
12:48 a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. And whosoever
12:52 shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever
12:56 it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. And when the chief
13:01 priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived
13:05 that he spake of them. But when they sought to lay hands on him,
13:09 they feared the multitude, because they took him
13:11 for a prophet. - I'm reading from the book of Matthew,
13:15 chapter 22. - And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by
13:19 parables, and said, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain
13:23 king, which made a marriage for his son, And sent forth
13:26 his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding:
13:29 and they would not come. Again, he sent forth other servants,
13:33 saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared
13:37 my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all
13:40 things are ready: come unto the marriage. But they made light of
13:44 it and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his
13:47 merchandise: And the remnant took his servants, and entreated
13:51 them spitefully, and slew them. But when the king heard thereof,
13:55 he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those
13:59 murderers, and burned up their city. Then saith he
14:02 to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were
14:06 bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways
14:10 and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
14:14 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered
14:17 together all as many as they found, both bad and good:
14:21 and the wedding was furnished with guests.
14:25 Thank you again for joining me. for the reading of God's word.
14:29 Until we're together again, may God bless you and keep you,
14:32 always in His care. Goodbye.
