00:17 Hello, and welcome to His Words Are Life.
00:19 I'm Kelly Mowrer and thank you for joining today,
00:22 with me to read the Word of God.
00:24 We'll be reading from the King James version.
00:26 But first, let's go to God in prayer.
00:28 Dear heavenly Father, please be with us now as we come aside
00:33 and we read your Words, words that not only
00:36 give us encouragement and hope, but that give us wisdom
00:39 and that light our path so that we can walk in ways
00:43 that are pleasing to You. Please be with us now. Thank you
00:47 again. We love you. Amen. I'm reading from the gospel of
00:51 Luke, the King James version, chapter 10,
00:54 we'll start with verse 3. Jesus has just called his disciples
00:58 together and sent them out to the field of harvest.
01:01 Go your ways, behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
01:08 Carry neither purse, nor script, nor shoes, and salute no man
01:14 by the way. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say,
01:18 Peace be to this house. And if the son of peace be there
01:22 your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you
01:26 again. And in the same house remain, eating and drinking
01:30 such things they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire.
01:35 Go not from house to house. And into whatsoever city ye enter,
01:40 and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
01:44 And heal the sick that are therein and say unto them
01:47 The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. But into whatsoever
01:52 city you enter and they receive you not, go your ways out into
01:56 the streets of the same, and say Even the very dust of your city,
02:01 which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding
02:06 be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh
02:10 unto you. But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable
02:14 in that day for Sodom, than for that city. Woe unto thee.
02:20 Chorazin! Woe unto thee, Bethsaida!
02:22 for if the mighty works had been
02:24 done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you,
02:27 they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth
02:31 and ashes. But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon
02:35 at the judgment, than for you. And thou, Capernaum, which art
02:39 exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.
02:42 He that heareth you, heareth me; and he that despiseth you;
02:48 despiseth me: and he that despiseth me, despiseth him
02:52 that sent me. And the seventy returned again with joy, saying,
02:57 Lord even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
03:01 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall
03:07 from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents
03:11 and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing
03:15 shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice
03:21 not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather
03:25 rejoice because your names are written in heaven.
03:29 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee,
03:35 O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these
03:39 things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed
03:42 the unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good
03:46 in thy sight. All things are delivered to me of my Father
03:50 and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the
03:55 Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.
03:59 And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately,
04:04 Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:
04:08 For I tell you, that many prophets and Kings
04:11 have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen
04:16 them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not
04:19 heard them. And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up,
04:23 and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit
04:27 eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law?
04:32 how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love
04:37 the Lord thy God with all thy heard, and with all thy soul,
04:40 and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind;
04:43 and thy neighbor as thyself. And he said unto him,
04:47 Thou has answered right: this do and thou shalt live. But he,
04:52 willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus,
04:56 And who is my neighbor? And Jesus, answering said,
05:01 A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho,
05:05 and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment,
05:08 and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
05:11 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way:
05:15 and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. And likewise
05:21 a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him,
05:24 and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he
05:31 journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him,
05:34 he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up
05:38 his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own
05:43 beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
05:46 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out 2 pence,
05:50 and gave them to the host, and said unto him,
05:54 Take care of him and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come
05:58 again, I will repay thee. Which now of these 3 thinkest thou,
06:04 was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?
06:07 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus
06:12 unto him, Go and do thou likewise.
06:15 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered
06:19 into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha
06:22 received him into her house. And she had a sister called
06:25 Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
06:30 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him,
06:35 and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me
06:38 to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
06:42 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art
06:47 careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful
06:51 and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken
06:56 away from her. - I'm reading from the gospel of Luke,
06:59 chapter 11. - And it came to pass that as he was praying
07:04 in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples
07:08 said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his
07:13 disciples. And he said unto them When ye pray, say, Our Father
07:19 which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.
07:24 Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day
07:31 our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive
07:36 every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into
07:40 temptation; but deliver us from evil. And he said unto them,
07:46 Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him
07:49 at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves.
07:53 For a friend of mine in his journey is come unto me,
07:56 and I have nothing to set before him? And he from within
08:00 shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut,
08:03 and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise
08:05 and give thee. I say unto you, Though he will not rise
08:10 and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his
08:14 importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
08:17 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, any ye
08:24 shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
08:28 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh
08:32 findeth; and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened.
08:36 If a son shall ask for bread of any of you that is a father,
08:40 will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish will he for a fish
08:45 give him a serpent? Or if he ask an egg, will he offer him
08:49 a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good
08:54 gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly
08:58 Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
09:01 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb.
09:05 And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out,
09:07 the dumb spake; and the people wondered. But some of them said,
09:12 He casteth out devils through Beelzebub, the chief
09:16 of the devils. And others, tempting him, sought of him
09:20 a sign from heaven. But he, knowing their thoughts,
09:24 said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself
09:28 is brought to desolation; and a housed divided against a house
09:33 falleth. If Satan also be divided against himself
09:38 how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out
09:42 devils through Beelzebub, And if I by Beelzebub
09:45 cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out?
09:49 Therefore shall they be your judges. But if I with the finger
09:54 of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God
09:58 is come upon you. When a strong man, armed, keepeth
10:03 his palace, his goods are in peace; but when a stronger
10:08 than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh
10:11 from him all his armour wherein the trusted and divideth
10:16 his spoils. He that is not with me is against me:
10:20 and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. When the unclean
10:25 Spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places
10:29 seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my
10:34 house whence I came out. And when he cometh, he findeth it
10:38 swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh to him, 7 other
10:43 spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in
10:47 and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse
10:51 than the first. And it came to pass, as he spake these things,
10:56 a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said
11:00 unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps
11:04 which thou has sucked. But he said, Yea rather blessed
11:10 are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
11:13 And when the people were gathered thick together,
11:16 he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign;
11:22 and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas
11:25 the prophet. For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites,
11:29 so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.
11:33 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment
11:36 with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came
11:41 from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of
11:43 Solomon; and behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
11:47 The men of Nineveh shall rise up in the judgment with this
11:51 generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented
11:54 at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas
11:59 is here. No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it
12:04 in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick,
12:08 that they which come in may see the light. The light of the body
12:12 is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body
12:17 also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also
12:21 is full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light
12:25 which is in thee be not darkness. If thy whole body
12:29 therefore be full of light, having no part dark,
12:33 the whole shall be full of light as when the bright shining
12:37 of a candle doth give thee light. And as he spake, a
12:42 certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in,
12:46 and sat down to meat. And when the Pharisee saw it he marveled
12:50 that he had not first washed before dinner.
12:52 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean
12:57 the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part
13:00 is full of ravening and wickedness. Ye fools,
13:03 did not he that made that which is without make that which is
13:07 within also? But rather give alms of such things as ye have;
13:13 and, behold, all things are clean unto you.
13:15 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint an rue
13:20 and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment
13:24 and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not
13:29 to leave the other undone. Woe unto you, Pharisees!
13:32 for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings
13:35 in the markets. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees,
13:39 hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men
13:44 that walk over them are not aware of them.
13:46 Then answered one of the lawyers and said unto him, Master, thus
13:51 saying thou reproachest us also. And he said, Woe unto you also,
13:56 ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne,
14:00 and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers
14:03 Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchers of the prophets,
14:07 and your fathers killed them. Truly ye bear witness
14:11 that ye allow the deeds of your fathers for they indeed killed
14:14 them, and ye build their sepulchers. Therefore also
14:17 said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles,
14:21 and some of them they shall slay and persecute:
14:24 That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed
14:26 from the foundation of the world may be required
14:29 of this generation; Thank you again for joining me
14:33 for the reading of the Word of God.
