00:17 Welcome to His Words Are Life. 00:19 Thank you for joining with me today to read the word of God. 00:22 And before we go to the word, let's go to Him in prayer. 00:25 Dear Heavenly Father, thank You so much for these words of life. 00:30 Thank You that they are now a light to our path, and that You 00:34 walk with us showing us the way through the words that You have 00:37 preserved through all these thousands of years. 00:40 Please send Your Holy Spirit to be with us and to guide our 00:42 minds as we read. 00:43 We love You. 00:45 Amen. 00:46 I'm reading today from the gospel of John, 00:49 in the King James Version, chapter 1. 00:51 When we were last together we were reading the story of Philip 00:54 going to Nathanael and saying, We have found the Messiah. 00:57 Come and see. 00:58 It's Jesus of Nazareth. 00:59 And Nathanael answers him and says, Can anything good come 01:03 out of Nazareth? 01:04 And Philip says, No, come. 01:06 He is the Son of God. 01:07 And so Nathanael goes with him, and Jesus looks and he sees 01:10 Nathanael approaching, and he says behold here is an 01:13 Israelite indeed, in whom there is no guile. 01:15 And now we'll pick up in the gospel of John, chapter 1, 01:19 with verse 48. 01:21 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? 01:25 Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called 01:31 thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. 01:34 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the 01:39 Son of God; thou art the King of Israel. 01:42 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, 01:46 I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see 01:50 greater things than these. 01:52 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, 01:55 Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God 02:00 ascending and descending upon the Son of man. 02:03 Reading now in the book of John, chapter 2. 02:07 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; 02:12 and the mother of Jesus was there: and both Jesus was 02:15 called, and his disciples, to the marriage. 02:18 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, 02:22 They have no wine. 02:23 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? 02:28 mine hour is not yet come. 02:30 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith 02:34 unto you, do it. 02:35 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, 02:40 after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, 02:43 containing two or three firkins apiece. 02:45 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. 02:50 And they filled them up to the brim. 02:52 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor 02:57 of the feast. 02:58 And they bare it. 02:59 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made 03:04 wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which 03:08 drew the water knew) the governor of the feast called 03:12 the bridegroom, and saith unto him, Every man at the beginning 03:15 doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, 03:19 then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine 03:24 until now. 03:25 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, 03:30 and manifested forth his glory; 03:33 and his disciples believed on him. 03:36 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, 03:39 and his brethren, and his disciples; and they continued 03:42 there not many days. 03:43 And the Jews' Passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to 03:47 Jerusalem, and found in the temple those that sold oxen 03:51 and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: 03:55 and when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them 03:59 all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured 04:03 out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables; and said 04:06 unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my 04:12 Father's house an house of merchandise. 04:15 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of 04:19 thine house hath eaten me up. 04:21 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign showest thou 04:26 unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? 04:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, 04:33 and in three days I will raise it up. 04:37 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in 04:42 building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 04:46 But he spake of the temple of his body. 04:49 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples 04:53 remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the 04:56 Scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. 04:58 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day, 05:02 many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles 05:05 which he did. 05:06 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all 05:10 men, and needed not that any should testify of man; 05:13 for he knew what was in man. 05:16 I'm reading from the book of John, chapter 3. 05:20 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, 05:24 a ruler of the Jews: the same came to Jesus by night, 05:29 and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher 05:33 come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou 05:37 doest, except God be with him. 05:39 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto 05:43 thee, Except a man be born again, 05:46 he cannot see the kingdom of God. 05:48 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is 05:53 old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, 05:57 and be born? 05:59 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be 06:04 born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the 06:07 kingdom of God. 06:08 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born 06:13 of the Spirit is spirit. 06:14 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 06:18 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the 06:22 the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, 06:25 and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born 06:28 of the Spirit. 06:30 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? 06:34 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of 06:38 Israel, and knowest not these things? 06:41 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, 06:46 and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 06:52 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, 06:56 how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? 06:59 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down 07:03 from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 07:07 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, 07:10 even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever 07:16 believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 07:20 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, 07:25 that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have 07:30 everlasting life. 07:31 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; 07:36 but that the world through him might be saved. 07:41 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that 07:45 believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not 07:49 believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 07:52 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the 07:56 world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their 08:00 deeds were evil. 08:01 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh 08:06 to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 08:09 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may 08:14 be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. 08:18 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land 08:22 of Judea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized. 08:26 And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, 08:30 because there was much water there: and they came, 08:33 and were baptized. 08:34 For John was not yet cast into prison. 08:37 Then there arose a question between some of John's disciples 08:41 and the Jews about purifying. 08:43 And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, 08:46 he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest 08:50 witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all men 08:54 come to him. 08:55 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, 09:00 except it be given him from heaven. 09:02 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the 09:06 Christ, but that I am sent before him. 09:08 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend 09:13 of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, 09:15 rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: 09:18 this my joy therefore is fulfilled. 09:22 He must increase, but I must decrease. 09:26 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the 09:31 earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh 09:35 from heaven is above all. 09:37 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man 09:42 receiveth his testimony. 09:44 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal 09:49 that God is true. 09:50 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: 09:54 for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. 09:58 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things 10:02 into his hand. 10:03 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: 10:07 and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; 10:11 but the wrath of God abideth on him. 10:14 I'm reading in the book of John, chapter 4. 10:17 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that 10:22 Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, 10:29 he left Judea, and departed again into Galilee. 10:33 And he must needs go through Samaria. 10:35 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, 10:40 near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to 10:43 his son Joseph. 10:44 Now Jacob's well was there. 10:46 Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on 10:51 the well: and it was about the sixth hour. 10:54 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto 10:59 her, Give me to drink. 11:05 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, 11:10 being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? 11:16 for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. 11:20 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of 11:23 God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; 11:27 thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee 11:32 living water. 11:34 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, 11:38 and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou 11:42 that living water? 11:43 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, 11:47 and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? 11:51 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this 11:55 water shall thirst again: but whosoever drinketh of the water 12:00 that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that 12:04 I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up 12:08 into everlasting life. 12:09 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, 12:13 that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. 12:15 Jesus saith unto her, Go call thy husband, and come hither. 12:20 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. 12:24 Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: 12:28 for thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not 12:32 thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. 12:36 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou 12:39 art a prophet. 12:40 Our fathers worshiped in this mountain; and ye say, 12:43 that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 12:45 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, 12:51 when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, 12:54 worship the Father. 12:55 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship; 13:00 for salvation is of the Jews. 13:02 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall 13:07 worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father 13:11 seeketh such to worship him. 13:13 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him 13:17 in spirit and in truth. 13:19 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messiah cometh, 13:24 which is called Christ: when he is come, 13:27 he will tell us all things. 13:28 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. 13:35 And upon this came his disciples, and marveled that he 13:39 talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, 13:43 Why talkest thou with her? 13:44 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into 13:48 the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me 13:52 all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? 13:56 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him. 13:59 In the meanwhile his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. 14:04 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. 14:09 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought 14:12 him aught to eat? 14:13 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that 14:18 sent me, and to finish his work. 14:21 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? 14:24 behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the 14:29 fields; for they are white already to harvest. 14:33 Thank you for being with me today. 14:35 Please join me again next time for the reading 14:38 of the word of God. |
