00:16 Hi, and welcome to HIS WORDS ARE LIFE
00:19 I'm Kelly Mowrer, as I was getting ready this morning I was
00:22 thinking about the title of the program - HIS WORDS ARE LIFE
00:25 If you leave out the word "life" there's a lot of clichés
00:28 attached to that word, there's "where there's life, there's
00:32 hope" and there's a - "oh, she's full of life," and I thought
00:36 about the meaning of those, you know "His Words are Hope",
00:39 "His Words are energy, and enthusiasm,"
00:42 and so for any of you that are joining today,
00:45 and things are going on in your life right now that seem
00:49 hopeless, or seem draining, you can come to the Word of God,
00:53 and find not only wisdom, but you can find hope,
00:56 find energy, and enthusiasm to continue on in His grace.
01:00 Let's pray before we start. Dear Jesus, thank you so much
01:04 for coming to give us life, life more abundantly.
01:07 Please take your words, that you have prepared for us to read
01:11 today, and plant them in our heart. We love you. Amen.
01:14 I'm reading today from the King James Version.
01:18 I Corinthians, chapter 3, and we're starting with verse 10
01:22 According to the grace of God which is given unto me as a
01:26 wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another
01:31 man buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed
01:35 how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man
01:39 lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
01:43 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver,
01:48 precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work
01:55 shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it,
01:59 because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try
02:04 every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide
02:11 which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
02:14 If any man's work shall be burned he shall suffer loss:
02:19 but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
02:23 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the
02:28 Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple
02:32 of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy,
02:38 which temple ye are. Let no man deceive himself.
02:43 if any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world,
02:47 let him become a fool, that he may be wise, for the wisdom of
02:52 this world is foolishness with God. For it is written,
02:56 He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, The Lord
03:00 knoweth the thought of the wise, that they are vain. Therefore
03:05 let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
03:09 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life,
03:14 or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;
03:18 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's
03:22 We're reading from 1 Corinthians chapter 4, beginning in verse 1
03:26 and this is the King James Version.
03:28 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and
03:34 stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required
03:39 in stewards, that a man be found faithful. But with me
03:43 it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you,
03:46 or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.
03:50 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified:
03:56 but he that judgeth me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing
04:02 before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring
04:05 to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest
04:09 the councils of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise
04:14 of God. And these things, brethren, I have in a figure
04:19 transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes;
04:22 that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which
04:27 is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against
04:31 another. For who maketh thee to differ from another?
04:36 and what hast thou that thou didst not receive?
04:39 now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory,
04:43 as if thou hadst not received it? Now ye are full,
04:47 now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would
04:52 to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.
04:55 For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last,
05:00 as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle
05:04 unto the world, and to angels, and to men. We are fools
05:07 for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ;
05:11 we are weak, but you are strong; ye are honourable,
05:17 but we are despised. Even unto this present hour we both hunger
05:20 and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted,
05:23 and have no certain dwellingplace;
05:24 and labour, working with our own hands being reviled,
05:29 we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: being defamed,
05:34 we entreat: we are made as the filth of the world,
05:38 and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
05:42 I write not these things to shame you,
05:45 but as my beloved sons I warn you. For though ye have ten
05:50 thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers:
05:54 for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
05:58 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
06:02 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus,
06:05 but as my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord,
06:08 who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways
06:12 which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.
06:15 Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.
06:20 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know,
06:24 not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.
06:28 For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
06:32 What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love,
06:37 and in the spirit of meekness? We're reading from 1
06:41 Corinthians, chapter 5. It is reported commonly
06:45 that there is fornication among you, and such fornication
06:49 as is not so much as named among the Gentiles,
06:51 that one should have his father's wife.
06:54 and ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that
06:59 hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
07:02 For I verily, as absent in body but present in spirit,
07:08 have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him
07:12 that hath so done this deed, in the name of our Lord Jesus
07:16 Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit,
07:19 with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, to deliver such
07:23 an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh,
07:26 that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
07:30 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven
07:35 leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven,
07:40 that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ
07:44 our passover is sacrificed for us:
07:47 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither
07:52 with the leaven of malice and wickedness;
07:55 but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
07:58 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
08:03 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world,
08:07 or with the covetous, or extortioners,
08:09 or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of
08:12 the world. But now I have written unto you not to
08:16 keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator
08:20 or covetous, or and idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard,
08:25 or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
08:30 For what have I do to judge them that are without?
08:34 Do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are
08:40 without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves
08:44 that wicked person. We are reading from 1 Corinthians,
08:48 in the King James version, and now moving to chapter 6.
08:51 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law
08:57 before the unjust, and not before the saints?
09:00 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world?
09:04 And if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge
09:08 the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels?
09:12 How much more things that pertain to this life?
09:15 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life,
09:19 set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.
09:23 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man
09:28 among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between
09:32 his brethren? But brother goeth to law with brother,
09:36 and that before the unbelievers. Now therefore there is utterly
09:41 a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another.
09:44 Why do ye not rather take wrong? Why do ye not rather suffer
09:49 yourselves to be defrauded? Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud,
09:54 and that your brethren. Know ye not that the unrighteous shall
09:59 not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived:
10:03 neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers,
10:06 nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10:10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers,
10:14 nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
10:18 And such were some of you: but ye are washed,
10:22 but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name
10:25 of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
10:28 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient
10:33 all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought
10:37 under the power of any. Meats for the belly,
10:41 and the belly for meats: But God shall destroy
10:44 both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication,
10:49 but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
10:52 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise
10:57 up us by his own power. Know ye not that your bodies
11:02 are the members of Christ? Shall I then take the members
11:06 of Christ, and make them the member of an harlot?
11:09 God forbid. What? know ye not that he which is joined
11:14 to an harlot is one body? for two saith he, shall be one flesh
11:18 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
11:23 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without
11:28 the body; but he that committeth fornication
11:30 sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your
11:35 body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you,
11:38 which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
11:42 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God
11:47 in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
11:50 We're reading from 1 Corinthians chapter 7.
11:53 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me:
11:58 It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
12:01 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication,
12:04 let every man have his own wife.
12:06 and let every woman have her own husband.
12:08 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence:
12:12 and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
12:15 The wife hath not power of her own body,
12:19 but the husband: and likewise also the husband
12:23 hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
12:25 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent
12:30 for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting
12:33 and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not
12:38 for your incontinency. But I speak this by permission,
12:41 and not of commandment. For I would that all men
12:45 were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God
12:50 one after this manner, and another after that.
12:53 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows,
12:56 It is good for them if they abide even as I.
13:00 But if they cannot contain, let them marry:
13:03 for it is better to marry than to burn.
13:05 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord,
13:10 Let not the wife depart from her husband: But and if she depart,
13:15 let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband:
13:19 and let not the husband put away his wife.
13:22 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord:
13:26 If any brother hath a wife that believeth not,
13:29 and she be pleased to dwell with him,
13:31 let him not put her away. And the woman which hath an husband
13:35 that believeth not, and if he be please to dwell with her,
13:38 let her not leave him. For the unbelieving husband
13:42 is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife
13:44 is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean;
13:48 but now are they holy. But if the unbelieving depart,
13:52 let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage
13:56 in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.
14:00 For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save thy
14:04 husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save
14:08 thy wife? But as God hath distributed to every man,
14:12 as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk.
14:16 And so ordain I in all churches. Thank you for coming to read
14:23 with me today the beautiful words of God, and until
14:25 we're together again, may the God of hope, keep you with all
14:29 joy and peace through your faith in Jesus Christ our Lord,
14:33 by the power of His Holy Spirit. Goodbye.
