00:15 Hello, and welcome back to His Words are life.
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer and thank you for joining with me again to 00:21 read the word of God. Before we start, let's pray together. 00:24 Dear Lord, thank you for a time to come apart to sit and be fed 00:30 through the words that are the very bread of life 00:33 to our hungry heart. Please come now and teach us 00:39 instruct us in the ways that we should go. Help us to learn 00:42 the lessons you have for us for today. We love you so much 00:45 and thank you for loving us. When we were last together, we 00:50 were reading of Moses gathering the Israelites and his long 00:54 recounting to them of all of the leading of God and his pleading 00:58 with them to follow the words of the Lord, and let those words 01:02 bring them a life of prosperity and happiness 01:05 that they would never find any where else. 01:08 We're going to pick it up now in Deuteronomy chapter 10, 01:11 starting with verse 12. This is the King James Version. 01:15 And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, 01:20 but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, 01:24 and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God 01:28 with all thy heart and with all thy soul, 01:31 to keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, 01:35 which I command thee this day for thy good? Behold, the heaven 01:40 and the heaven of heavens is the Lord's thy God, 01:44 the earth also with all that therein is. Only the Lord 01:49 had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose 01:53 their seed after them, even you above all people, 01:56 as it is this day. Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your 02:02 heart and be no more stiff-necked. 02:05 For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, 02:10 a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not 02:14 persons, nor taketh reward: He doth execute the judgment of the 02:18 fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food 02:23 and raiment. Love ye therefore the strangers: 02:26 for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. 02:29 Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God; him shalt thou serve, 02:33 and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name. 02:35 He is thy praise, and he is thy God, that hath done for thee 02:42 these great and terrible things, which thine eyes have seen. 02:45 Thy fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; 02:49 and now the Lord thy God hath made thee as the stars of heaven 02:53 for multitude. We're continuing to read 02:56 in the book of Deuteronomy, chapter 11. 02:58 And this is the King James Version. 03:00 Therefore thou shalt love the Lord thy God, 03:04 and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, 03:07 and his commandments, alway. And know ye this day: 03:11 for I speak not with your children which have not known, 03:15 and which have not seen the chastisement of the Lord 03:17 you God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched 03:20 out arm, and his miracles, and his acts, which he did 03:24 in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt 03:26 and unto all his land; and what he did unto the army of Egypt 03:30 and to their horses, and to their chariots; how he made 03:34 the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued 03:37 after you, and how the Lord hath destroyed them unto this day; 03:41 And what he did unto you in the wilderness, 03:43 until ye came into this place; And what he did unto Dathan 03:48 and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: 03:51 how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, 03:55 and their households, and their tents, and all the substance 03:57 that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel: 04:00 But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the Lord 04:03 which he did. Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments 04:07 which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in 04:11 and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it; 04:14 And that ye may prolong you days in the land which the Lord sware 04:18 unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, 04:21 a land that floweth with milk and honey. For the land, 04:26 whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, 04:30 from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, 04:33 and waterdst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs: 04:36 But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills 04:41 and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven: 04:45 A land which the Lord thy God careth for; 04:48 the eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon it, 04:52 from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year. 04:55 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my 05:00 commandments which I command you this day, to love the Lord 05:04 your God, and to serve him with all your heart 05:07 and with all your soul, that I will give you the rain 05:12 of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter 05:17 rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, 05:20 and thine oil. And I will send grass in thy fields 05:24 for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full. 05:28 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, 05:33 and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; 05:37 And then the Lord's wrath be kindled against you, 05:41 and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, 05:43 and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish 05:47 quickly from off the good land which the Lord giveth you. 05:50 Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart 05:54 and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, 05:59 that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. 06:02 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them 06:06 when thou sittest in thine house and when thou walkest by the way 06:10 when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 06:12 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, 06:16 and upon thy gates: that your days may be multiplied, 06:19 and the days of your children, in the land which the Lord sware 06:23 unto your fathers to give them. as the days of heaven 06:26 upon the earth. For if ye shall diligently keep 06:30 all these commandments which I command you 06:32 to do them, to love the Lord your God, to walk, 06:36 in all his ways and to cleave unto him, then will the Lord 06:41 drive out all these nations from before you. 06:43 And ye shall possess greater nations and mightier 06:47 than yourself. Every place whereon the soles of your feet 06:51 shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness 06:55 and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, 06:58 even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be. 07:01 There shall be no man be able to stand before you: 07:05 for the Lord your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread 07:08 of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, 07:10 as he hath said unto you. Behold I set before you this day 07:17 a blessing and a curse; A blessing, if ye obey 07:23 the commandments of the Lord you God, which I command you 07:26 this day: and a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments 07:30 of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I 07:35 command you this day, to go after other gods 07:38 which ye have not known. And it shall come to pass, 07:42 when the Lord thy God hath brought thee in unto the land 07:46 whither thou goest to possess it, 07:48 that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, 07:52 and the curse upon mount Ebal. Are they not on the other side 07:57 Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, 08:00 in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the Champaign, 08:04 over against Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh? 08:07 For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land 08:11 which the Lord your God giveth you and ye shall possess it, 08:15 and dwell therein. And ye shall observe to do all the statutes 08:20 and judgments which I set before you this day. 08:23 We're continuing in the book of Deuteronomy, chapter 12 08:27 and this is the King James Version 08:29 These are the statutes and judgments, 08:34 which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the Lord God 08:37 of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days 08:40 that ye live upon the earth. Ye shall utterly destroy 08:44 all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess 08:47 served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, 08:50 and under every green tree: And ye shall overthrow their altars, 08:54 and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; 08:57 and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, 09:00 and destroy the names of them out of that place. 09:03 Ye shall not do so unto the Lord your God. But into the place 09:09 which the Lord your God shall choose out of all your tribes 09:12 to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, 09:16 and thither thou shalt come: And thither ye shall bring 09:20 your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, 09:24 and heave offerings of your hands, and your vows, 09:26 and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds 09:30 and of your flocks: and there ye shall eat before the Lord 09:34 your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand 09:38 unto, ye and your households, wherein the Lord thy God 09:42 hath blessed thee. Ye shall not do after all the things 09:46 that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right 09:49 in his own eyes. For ye are not as yet come to the rest 09:54 and to the inheritance, which the Lord your God giveth you. 09:57 But when ye go over Jordan and dwell in the land which the Lord 10:01 your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest 10:05 from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell 10:08 safety; then there shall be a place which the Lord your God 10:12 shall choose to call his name to dwell there; thither shall ye 10:17 bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, 10:19 and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering 10:22 of you hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the Lord: 10:26 And ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God, ye, and your sons 10:31 and your daughters, and your menservants, 10:33 and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates 10:36 forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you. 10:40 Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings 10:45 in every place that thou seest: But in the place which the Lord 10:49 shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer 10:53 thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command 10:57 thee. Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat flesh 11:01 in all thy gates, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, according 11:04 to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee: 11:07 the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the roebuck, 11:11 and as of the hart. Only ye shall not eat the blood; 11:16 ye shall pour it upon the earth as water. Thou mayest not eat 11:21 within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, 11:25 or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of thy flock, 11:29 nor any of thy vows which thou vowest nor thy freewill 11:33 offerings or heave offering of thine hand: But thou must eat 11:36 them before the Lord thy God in the place which the Lord thy God 11:39 shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, 11:42 and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite 11:45 that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice 11:48 before the Lord thy God in all that thou puttest thine hands 11:51 unto. Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite 11:56 as long as thou livest upon the earth. 11:59 When the Lord thy God shall enlarge thy border, 12:02 as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say I will eat flesh, 12:05 because thy soul longeth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh; 12:09 whatsoever thy soul lusteth after. 12:11 If the place which the which the Lord thy God hath chosen 12:15 to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill 12:20 of thy herd and of they flock, which the Lord hath given thee, 12:23 as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates 12:26 whatsoever thy soul lusteth after. Even as the roebuck 12:30 and the hart is eaten, so thou shalt eat them: 12:33 the unclean and the clean shall eat of them alike. Only be sure 12:39 that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; 12:41 and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh. 12:43 Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth 12:47 as water. Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, 12:51 and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do 12:55 that which is right in the sight of the Lord. 12:58 Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, 13:02 thou shalt take, and go unto the place which the Lord 13:05 shall choose. And thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, 13:08 the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the Lord thy God: 13:11 and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out 13:14 upon the altar of the Lord thy God, 13:16 and thou shalt eat the flesh. Observe and hear all these words 13:22 which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, 13:25 and with thy children after thee forever, when thou doest that 13:29 which is good and right in the sight of the Lord thy God. 13:32 When the Lord thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee 13:36 whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them 13:39 and dwellest in their land; Take heed to thyself 13:43 that thou be not snared by following them, 13:46 after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou 13:50 inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations 13:55 serve their gods? Even so will I do likewise. 13:58 Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God: 14:01 for every abomination to the Lord, which he hateth, 14:04 hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons 14:07 and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods. 14:09 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not 14:16 add thereto, nor diminish from it. 14:19 Thank you for being with me today 14:22 to read the word of God together. 14:24 And until we come together again I pray that we will choose 14:29 to obey God through His grace, and his power, 14:31 that his blessings may fall on us. |
