00:16 Hello, and welcome to His Words are Life.
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer and thank you for joining with me today 00:21 to read the Bible together. Before we start, Lets pray. 00:24 Dear God, thank you so much for this time and your presence 00:28 receiving from you, the bread of life through the word. 00:32 Please give us this day our daily bread 00:36 that will take and nourish us, give us strength and wisdom 00:41 the power we need to serve you and each other. 00:44 We love you so much and thank you for loving us. Amen 00:47 When we were last together we were reading in Deuteronomy 00:50 where Moses is instructing the children of Israel with warnings 00:54 and with promises; over and over and over again 00:57 telling them not to turn from obedience and love to the Lord 01:02 to love Him and serve Him withall their hearts. 01:03 We're picking up with Deuteronomy 16, verse 10. 01:07 This is the King James Version. And thou shalt keep the feast 01:10 of weeks unto the Lord thy God with a tribute of a freewill 01:14 offering of thine hand, which thou shalt give unto the Lord 01:17 thy God according as the Lord thy God hath blessed thee: 01:20 And thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, thou, and thy 01:24 son and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, 01:28 and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, 01:30 and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, 01:33 in the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to place 01:36 his name there. And thou shalt remember that thou wast a 01:40 bondman in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do 01:43 these statutes. Thou shalt observe feast of tabernacles 01:47 seven days, after that thou hast gathered in thy corn 01:51 and thy wine: and thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, 01:54 thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, 01:57 and thy maidservant, and the Levite, the stranger, 02:00 and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within 02:02 thy gates. Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast 02:06 unto the Lord thy God in the place which the Lord 02:09 shall choose: because the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all 02:14 thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands, 02:17 therefore thou shalt surely rejoice. Three times in a year 02:21 shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God 02:24 in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of 02:27 unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast 02:30 of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the Lord empty 02:34 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing 02:39 of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee. 02:41 Judges and officers shalt thou make the in all thy gates, 02:45 which the Lord thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: 02:48 and they shall judge the people with just judgment. 02:51 Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, 02:55 neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, 03:00 and pervert the words of the righteous. 03:02 That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, 03:06 that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the Lord 03:09 thy God giveth thee. Thou shalt not plant thee a grove of any 03:14 trees near unto the altar of the Lord thy God, which thou shalt 03:18 make thee. Neither shalt thou set thee up any image; 03:21 which the Lord thy God hateth. We're continuing now 03:25 in Deuteronomy, chapter 17. Thou shalt not sacrifice unto 03:31 the Lord thy God any bullock, or sheep, wherein is blemish, 03:34 or any evil favouredness: for that is an abomination 03:37 unto the Lord thy God. If there be found among you, 03:41 within any of thy gates which the Lord thy God giveth thee, 03:44 man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the 03:48 Lord thy God, in transgressing his covenant, and hath gone 03:51 and served other gods, and worshipped them, 03:53 either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I 03:57 have not commanded; and it be told thee, and thou hast heard 04:00 of it, and inquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, 04:04 and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel 04:08 then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, 04:12 which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, 04:15 even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones 04:19 till they die. At the mouth of 2 witnesses, or 3 witnesses 04:24 shall he that is worthy of death be put to death. 04:27 but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death. 04:32 The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him 04:35 to put him to death, and afterward the hands 04:38 of all the people. So thou shalt put the evil away from among you 04:44 If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, 04:48 between blood and blood, between plea and plea, between 04:53 stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy 04:57 within thy gates: then shalt thou arise, and get thee up 05:01 into the place which the Lord thy God shall choose; 05:04 And thou shalt come unto the priests the Levites, and unto 05:08 the judge that shall be in those days, and inquire; 05:11 and they shall shew thee the sentence of judgment: 05:14 And thou shalt do according to the sentence, 05:17 which they of that place, which the Lord shall choose, 05:20 shall shew thee; and thou shalt observe to do according to all 05:24 that they inform thee: according to the sentence of 05:27 the law which they shall teach thee, and according to the 05:31 judgment which they shall tell thee, thou shalt do: 05:33 thou shalt not decline from the sentence which they shall shew 05:37 thee, to the right hand, nor to the left. And the man 05:41 that will do presumptuously, and will not hearken 05:44 unto the priest that standeth to minister there 05:46 before the Lord thy God, or unto the judge, even that man 05:51 shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel. 05:54 And all the people shall hear, and fear, and do no more 06:00 presumptuously. When thou art come unto the land 06:03 which the Lord thy God giveth thee, and shalt possess it, 06:06 and shalt dwell therin, and shalt say, I will set a king 06:10 over me, like as all the nations that are about me; 06:12 thou shalt in any wise set him a king over thee, whom the Lord 06:17 thy God shall choose: one from among thy brethren shalt thou 06:21 set king over thee: thou mayest not set a stranger over thee, 06:25 which is not thy brother. But he shall not multiply horses 06:29 to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end 06:32 that he should multiply horses: forasmuch as the Lord hath said 06:36 unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way. 06:39 Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn 06:44 not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself 06:48 silver and gold. And it shall be when he sitteth upon the throne 06:52 of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law 06:56 in a book out of that which is before the priests 06:59 the Levites: and it shall be with him and he shall read 07:03 therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear 07:06 the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law 07:09 and these statutes, to do them: that his heart be not lifted up 07:14 above his brethren, and that he turn not aside 07:17 from the commandment to the right hand, or to the left: 07:20 to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, 07:24 he and his children, in the midst of Israel. 07:28 We're continuing now with Deuteronomy, chapter 18. 07:32 this is the King James Version. The priests the Levites, and all 07:36 the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel 07:40 they shall eat the offering of the Lord made by fire, 07:44 and his inheritance. Therefore shall they have no inheritance 07:47 among their brethren: the Lord is their inheritance, 07:50 as he hath said unto them. And this shall be the priest's due 07:54 from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, 07:57 whether it be ox or sheep; and they shall give unto the priest 08:01 the shoulder, and the two cheeks and the maw. The firstfruit also 08:06 of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first 08:09 of the fleece of thy sheep, thou shalt give him. 08:12 For the Lord thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, 08:16 to stand to minister in the name of the Lord, him and his sons 08:21 forever. And if a Levite come from any of thy gates 08:25 out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all 08:28 the desire of his mind unto the place which the Lord shall 08:31 choose; then he shall minister in the name of the Lord his God, 08:35 as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there 08:38 before the Lord. They shall have like portions to eat, 08:42 beside that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony. 08:45 When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy God 08:48 giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the 08:51 abominations of those nations. There shall not be found among 08:55 you anyone that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through 08:58 fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, 09:02 or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter 09:07 with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 09:11 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: 09:15 and because of these abominations the Lord thy God 09:18 doth drive them out from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect 09:23 with the Lord thy God. For these nations, 09:26 which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers 09:29 of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the Lord thy God 09:34 hath not suffered thee so to do. The Lord thy God will raise up 09:39 unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, 09:42 like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; according to all 09:47 that thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb in the day of 09:51 the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of 09:54 the Lord my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, 09:57 that I die not. And the Lord said unto me, They have well 10:01 spoken that which they have spoken. I will raise them up a 10:06 Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, 10:09 and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak 10:13 unto them all that I shall command him. 10:15 And it shall come to pass that whosoever will not hearken 10:18 unto my words which he shall speak in my name, 10:21 I will require it of him. But the prophet, which shall presume 10:26 to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded 10:29 him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods 10:32 even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in thine heart, 10:38 How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? 10:41 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing 10:45 follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord 10:48 hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: 10:52 thou shalt not be afraid of him. We're continuing to read in 10:56 Deuteronomy, chapter 19. This is the King James Version. 11:00 When the Lord thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land 11:05 the Lord thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, 11:08 and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses; 11:11 thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst 11:14 of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it. 11:18 Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts 11:22 of thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee to inherit, 11:26 into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither, 11:30 And this is the case of the slayer which shall flee thither, 11:35 that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbor ignorantly, 11:39 whom he hated not in time past; As when a man goeth into the 11:43 wood with his neighbor to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth 11:46 a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head 11:49 slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbor, 11:52 that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live: 11:56 lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, 12:00 while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way 12:03 is long, and slay him; whereas he was not worthy of death, 12:08 inasmuch as he hated him not in time past. 12:10 Wherefore I command thee saying, Thou shalt separate three cities 12:15 for thee. And if the Lord thy God enlarge thy coast, 12:18 as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all 12:22 the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers; 12:24 If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, 12:27 which I command thee this day, to love the Lord thy God, 12:31 and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities 12:35 more for thee, beside these three: That innocent blood 12:39 be not shed in thy land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee 12:42 for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee. 12:45 And if any man hate his neighbor, and lie in wait 12:49 for him, and rise up against him and smite him mortally 12:52 that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities: 12:56 Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him 12:59 thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, 13:04 that he may die. Thine eye shall not pity him, 13:08 but thou shalt put away the guilt of innocent blood, 13:10 from Israel, that it may go well with thee. 13:13 Thou shalt not remove thy neighbor's landmark, which 13:17 they have old time have set in thine inheritance, 13:19 which thou shalt inherit in the land that the Lord thy God 13:23 giveth thee to possess it. One witness shall not rise up 13:27 against a man for any iniquity or for any sin, in any sin that 13:31 he sinneth. At the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth 13:35 of three witnesses, shall the matter be established. 13:37 If a false witness rise up against any man to testify 13:41 against him that which is wrong; then both the men, 13:45 between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the Lord, 13:49 before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those 13:51 days; and the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and behold 13:55 if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified 13:59 falsely against his brother; Then shall ye do unto him, 14:03 as he had thought to have done unto his brother: 14:06 So shalt thou put the evil away from among you. 14:09 And those which remain shall hear, and fear, 14:13 and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you. 14:17 And thine eye shall not pity; but life shall go for life, 14:21 eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. 14:28 Thank you for joining with me today and please join with 14:31 me again next time to read the word of God together.
