00:17 Hello, and welcome to His Words Are Life.
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and thank you for joining with me today to
00:22 read the Bible together.
00:23 Let's pray before we start.
00:24 Dear God, thank You that You have brought us apart to receive
00:31 from You the special offensive weapon of the word, to go and to
00:37 fight the fight of faith with, and to do the work that You've
00:41 set out for us to do today and in the future.
00:45 Please equip us now with what we are to read.
00:47 We love You so much, and thank You for loving us.
00:50 Amen.
00:51 We're reading in the book of Deuteronomy.
00:53 We're starting in chapter 26, with verse 16.
00:58 This is Moses laying out for the Israelites the different laws
01:03 and commands, and the blessings of the Lord.
01:05 Beginning in verse 16.
01:07 This day the Lord thy God hath commanded thee to do these
01:12 statutes and judgments: thou shalt therefore keep and do them
01:16 with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
01:19 Thou hast avouched the Lord this day to be thy God,
01:23 and to walk in his ways, and to keep his statutes,
01:25 and his commandments, and his judgments,
01:26 and to hearken unto his voice: and the Lord hath avouched thee
01:30 this day to be his peculiar people, as he hath promised
01:34 thee, and that thou shouldest keep all his commandments;
01:37 and to make thee high above all nations which he hath made,
01:41 in praise, and in name, and in honor; and that thou mayest be a
01:46 holy people unto the Lord thy God, as he hath spoken.
01:50 We're continuing now in Deuteronomy, chapter 27.
01:54 This is the King James Version.
01:56 And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people,
02:00 saying, Keep all the commandments which I command
02:03 you this day.
02:04 And it shall be, on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto
02:07 the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set
02:10 thee up great stones, and plaster them with plaster:
02:13 and thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law,
02:17 when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land
02:21 which the Lord thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with
02:24 milk and honey; as the Lord God of thy fathers
02:26 hath promised thee.
02:27 Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall
02:31 set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount
02:35 Ebal, and thou shalt plaster them with plaster.
02:38 And there shalt thou build an altar unto the Lord thy God,
02:42 an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron
02:46 tool upon them.
02:47 Thou shalt build the altar of the Lord thy God of whole
02:50 stones: and thou shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto
02:54 the Lord thy God: and thou shalt offer peace offerings,
02:57 and shall eat there, and rejoice before the Lord thy God.
03:00 And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this
03:04 law very plainly.
03:06 And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel,
03:10 saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art
03:16 become the people of the Lord thy God.
03:19 Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the Lord thy God,
03:22 and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command
03:25 thee this day.
03:26 And Moses charged the people the same day, saying, These shall
03:32 stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are
03:36 come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar,
03:41 and Joseph, and Benjamin: and these shall stand upon mount
03:45 Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan,
03:51 and Naphtali.
03:52 And the Levites shall speak, and say unto all the men of
03:55 Israel with a loud voice, Cursed be the man that maketh
03:58 any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the Lord,
04:02 the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a
04:05 secret place.
04:06 And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
04:09 Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother.
04:14 And all the people shall say, Amen.
04:18 Cursed be he that removeth his neighbor's landmark.
04:22 And all the people shall say, Amen.
04:24 Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way.
04:29 And all the people shall say, Amen.
04:32 Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger,
04:36 fatherless, and widow.
04:38 And all the people shall say, Amen.
04:40 Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife; because he
04:46 uncovereth his father's skirt.
04:48 And all the people shall say, Amen.
04:50 Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast.
04:54 And all the people shall say, Amen.
04:56 Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his
04:58 father, or the daughter of his mother.
05:00 And all the people shall say, Amen.
05:02 Cursed be he that lieth with his mother-in-law.
05:05 And all the people shall say, Amen.
05:08 Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbor secretly.
05:12 And all the people shall say, Amen.
05:14 Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person.
05:19 And all the people shall say, Amen.
05:22 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words
05:25 of this law to do them.
05:26 And all the people shall say, Amen.
05:28 Continuing in Deuteronomy, chapter 28, and this is the
05:32 King James Version.
05:33 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently
05:38 unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do
05:41 all his commandments which I command thee this day,
05:44 that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations
05:49 of the earth: and all these blessings shall come on thee,
05:52 and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the
05:54 voice of the Lord thy God.
05:55 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou
05:58 be in the field.
05:59 Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy
06:02 ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy
06:04 kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
06:06 Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
06:09 Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt
06:13 thou be when thou goest out.
06:15 The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against
06:18 thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out
06:21 against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
06:25 The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy
06:27 storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto;
06:31 and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God
06:35 giveth thee.
06:36 The Lord shall establish thee a holy people unto himself,
06:40 as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments
06:44 of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways.
06:47 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called
06:51 by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.
06:54 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit
06:57 of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of
07:00 thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers
07:03 to give thee.
07:05 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to
07:09 give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the
07:13 work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations,
07:16 and thou shalt not borrow.
07:18 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou
07:22 shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that
07:26 thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy
07:29 God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
07:33 and thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command
07:37 thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left,
07:39 to go after other gods to serve them.
07:41 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the
07:46 voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his
07:49 commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day;
07:52 that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
07:58 cursed shalt thou be in the city,
08:00 and cursed shalt thou be in the field.
08:02 Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.
08:06 Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land,
08:09 the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
08:12 Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou
08:16 be when thou goest out.
08:19 The Lord shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke,
08:24 in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou
08:28 be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the
08:32 wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
08:35 The Lord shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee,
08:38 until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest
08:43 to possess it.
08:44 The Lord shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever,
08:47 and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning,
08:50 and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew;
08:52 and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
08:55 And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass,
08:59 and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
09:02 The Lord shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust:
09:05 from heaven shall it come down upon thee,
09:08 until thou be destroyed.
09:10 The Lord shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies:
09:14 thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven
09:17 ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms
09:21 of the earth.
09:22 And thy carcass shall be meat unto all fowls of the air,
09:24 and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall
09:27 fray them away.
09:28 The Lord will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the
09:32 hemorrhoids, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou
09:35 canst not be healed.
09:36 The Lord shall smite thee with madness, and blindness,
09:40 and astonishment of heart: and thou shalt grope at noonday,
09:45 as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not
09:47 prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed
09:51 and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.
09:55 Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her:
09:59 thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein:
10:02 thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the
10:05 grapes thereof.
10:06 Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not
10:09 eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before
10:14 thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep
10:17 shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have
10:20 none to rescue them.
10:21 Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people,
10:25 and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them
10:29 all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.
10:32 The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation
10:36 which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed
10:39 and crushed always: so that thou shalt be mad for the sight
10:44 of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
10:45 The Lord shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs,
10:49 with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy
10:52 foot unto the top of thy head.
10:53 The Lord shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set
10:56 over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers
10:59 have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods,
11:02 wood and stone.
11:04 And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb,
11:07 and a byword, among all nations whither the Lord
11:10 shall lead thee.
11:11 Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field,
11:14 and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.
11:17 Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither
11:21 drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms
11:24 shall eat them.
11:25 Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts,
11:28 but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil;
11:31 for thine olive shall cast his fruit.
11:33 Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not
11:36 enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.
11:39 All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.
11:44 The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very
11:48 high; and thou shalt come down very low.
11:51 He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him:
11:54 he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.
11:58 Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue
12:02 thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed;
12:05 because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the Lord thy
12:08 God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he
12:11 commanded thee: and they shall be upon thee for a sign and for
12:15 a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
12:17 Because thou servedst not the Lord thy God with joyfulness,
12:19 and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
12:22 Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies, which the Lord shall
12:26 send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness,
12:30 and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon
12:34 thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
12:37 The Lord shall bring a nation against thee from far,
12:40 from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth;
12:43 a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand; a nation
12:47 of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of
12:50 the old, nor show favor to the young: and he shall eat the
12:53 fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be
12:56 destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine,
13:00 or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep,
13:04 until he have destroyed thee.
13:06 And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and
13:10 fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all
13:14 thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout
13:16 all thy land, which the Lord thy God hath given thee.
13:19 And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy
13:22 sons and of thy daughters, which the Lord thy God hath
13:24 given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine
13:27 enemies shall distress thee: so that the man that is tender
13:30 among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his
13:33 brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the
13:35 remnant of his children which he shall leave: so that he will
13:38 not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he
13:41 shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege,
13:44 and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress
13:47 thee in all thy gates.
13:48 The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not
13:51 adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for
13:54 delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the
13:57 husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her
14:00 daughter, and toward her young one that cometh out from between
14:03 her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear:
14:05 for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the
14:08 siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee
14:11 in thy gates.
14:13 If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that
14:16 are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious
14:20 and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; then the Lord will make thy
14:25 plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great
14:27 plagues, and of long continuance, and sore
14:30 sicknesses, and of long continuance.
14:33 Goodbye until next time.
