00:17 Hello, welcome to HIS WORDS ARE LIFE.
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer and thank you for joining with me today, 00:22 to read the scripture together. Let's pray before we start. 00:25 Dear Lord, thank you for this time apart with you 00:29 in your presence, hearing your word. May it give us the power 00:34 and the strength, to serve you better. And may it be a light 00:38 for our path and wisdom for our life. We love you so much 00:41 and thank you for loving us. Amen. 00:43 We are starting today in the book of Judges, 00:46 chapter 2, verse 10. This is the King James Version. 00:51 And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers 00:56 and there arose another generation after them 00:59 which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works 01:02 which he had done for Israel. And the children of Israel 01:06 did evil in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim. 01:09 And they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, 01:12 which brought them out of the land of Egypt, 01:14 and followed other gods, of the gods of the people 01:17 that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, 01:20 and provoked the Lord to anger. 01:23 And they forsook the Lord and served Baal and Ashtaroth. 01:27 And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, 01:30 and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers 01:32 that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands 01:35 of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer 01:39 stand before their enemies. Whithersoever they went out, 01:43 the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, 01:45 as the Lord had said, and as the Lord has sworn unto them: 01:49 and they were greatly distressed. 01:51 Nevertheless, the Lord raised up judges, which delivered them 01:56 out of the hand of those that spoiled them. 01:57 And yet they would not hearken unto their judges, 02:00 but they went a-whoring after other gods, and bowed themselves 02:04 unto them: they turned quickly out of the way 02:07 which their fathers walked in, obeying the commandments of 02:10 the Lord, but they did not so. And when the lord raised 02:14 them up judges, then the Lord was with the judge, 02:17 and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies 02:19 all the days of the judge: for it repented the Lord 02:22 because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed 02:25 them and vexed them. And it came to pass, when the judge 02:28 was dead, that they returned and corrupted themselves 02:32 more than their fathers, in following other gods 02:35 to serve them and to bow down unto them; 02:37 they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn 02:40 way. And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel; 02:44 and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed 02:48 my covenant which I commanded their fathers, 02:50 and have not hearkened unto my voice; 02:53 I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them 02:57 of the nations which Joshua left when he died: 02:59 That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep 03:03 the way of the Lord to walk therein, as their fathers did 03:06 keep it, or not. Therefore the Lord left those nations, 03:11 without driving them out hastily; 03:13 neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua. 03:16 We're in the book of Judges, chapter three, 03:20 this is the King James version. 03:21 Now these are the nations which the Lord left, to prove Israel 03:26 by them, even as many of Israel as had not known 03:29 all the wars of Canaan; Only that the generations 03:32 of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, 03:35 at the least such as before knew nothing thereof; 03:38 Namely, five lords of the Philistines, 03:40 and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, 03:44 and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, 03:46 from mount Baalhermon unto the entering in of Hamath. 03:50 And they were to prove Israel by them, 03:53 to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments 03:56 of the Lord, which he commanded their fathers 03:58 by the hand of Moses. And the children of Israel dwelt 04:02 among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, 04:05 and Hivites, and Jebusites: And they took their daughters 04:08 to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, 04:11 and served their gods. 04:13 And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, 04:17 and forgat the Lord their God, and served Baalim and the groves 04:22 therefore the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, 04:25 and he sold them into the hand of Chushanrishathaim 04:29 king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served 04:32 Chushanrishathaim eight years. 04:35 And when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, 04:39 the Lord raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, 04:41 who delivered them, even Othiniel the son of Kenaz, 04:45 Caleb's younger brother. 04:46 And the spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel, 04:50 and went out to war: and the Lord delivered Chushanrishathaim 04:55 king of Mesopotamia into his hand; 04:57 and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim. 05:00 And the land had rest 40 years. 05:03 And Othniel the son of Kenaz died. 05:07 And the children of Israel did evil again 05:09 in the sight of the Lord: and the Lord strengthened Eglon 05:11 the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil 05:14 in the sight of the Lord. And he gathered unto him 05:17 the children of Ammon and Amalek and went and smote Israel, 05:20 and possessed the city of palm trees. 05:23 So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab 18 years. 05:27 But when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, 05:30 the Lord raise them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, 05:34 a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him 05:38 the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon 05:40 the king of Moab. And Ehud made him a dagger which had 2 edges, 05:45 of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment 05:49 upon his right thigh. And he brought the present unto Eglon 05:53 king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man. 05:57 And when he had made an end to offer the present, 06:00 he sent away the people that bare the present. 06:02 But he himself turned again from the quarries 06:06 that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, 06:09 O king: who said, Keep silence. 06:12 And all that stood by him went out from him. 06:15 And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, 06:19 which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message 06:24 from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat. 06:27 And Ehud put forth his left hand and took the dagger 06:30 from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly: 06:33 And the haft also went in after the blade; 06:36 and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not 06:39 draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out. 06:43 Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors 06:46 of the parlour upon him, and locked them. 06:49 When he was gone out, his servants came; and 06:52 when they saw that, behold the doors of the parlour were locked 06:54 they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber. 06:58 And they tarried till they were ashamed: and behold, 07:01 he opened not the doors of the parlour; 07:04 therefore they took a key, and opened them: 07:05 and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth. 07:09 And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond 07:13 the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath. 07:15 And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet 07:20 in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel 07:22 went down with him from the mount, and he before them. 07:25 And he said unto them, Follow after me: 07:28 for the Lord hath delivered your enemies the Moabites 07:31 into your hand. And they went down after him, 07:33 and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, 07:36 and suffered not a man to pass over. 07:38 And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, 07:43 all lusty and all men of Valour; and there escaped not a man. 07:47 So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. 07:51 And the land had rest fourscore years. 07:54 And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, 07:58 which slew of the Philistines 600 men with an ox goad: 08:01 and he also delivered Israel. 08:04 We're continuing to read in the book of Judges, chapter four, 08:09 and this is the King James Version. 08:12 And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight 08:14 of the Lord, when Ehud was dead. 08:16 And the Lord sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, 08:20 that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera 08:24 which dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles. 08:27 And the children of Israel cried unto the Lord: 08:31 for he had 900 chariots of iron; and 20 years he mightily 08:35 oppressed the children of Israel. 08:36 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, 08:41 she judged Israel at that time. And she dwelt under the palm 08:45 tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel 08:48 in mount Ephraim; and the children of Israel 08:51 came up to her for judgment. And she sent and called Barak 08:55 the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh-naphtali, 08:59 and said unto him, Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded, 09:02 saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with 09:06 thee 10,000 men of the children of Naphtali 09:09 and of the children of Zebulun? And I will draw unto thee 09:12 to the river Kishon, Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, 09:16 with his chariots and his multitude; 09:17 and I will deliver him into thine hand. 09:20 And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, 09:25 then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, 09:28 then I will not go. And she said, I will surely go with thee 09:32 notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be 09:36 for thine honour; for the Lord shall sell Sisera 09:39 into the hand of a woman. 09:41 And Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh. 09:45 And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; 09:49 and he went up with 10,00 men at his feet: 09:51 And Deborah went up with him. 09:53 Now Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab 09:57 the father in law of Moses, had severed himself 10:01 from the Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the plain 10:03 of Zaanaim, which is by Kadesh. And they shewed Sisera 10:08 that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor. 10:12 And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even 900 10:16 chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, 10:19 from Harosheth of the Gentiles unto the river of Kishon. 10:22 And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day 10:26 in which the Lord hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: 10:29 is not the Lord gone out before thee? 10:31 So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and 10,000 men after him. 10:35 And the Lord discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, 10:40 and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; 10:43 so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, 10:46 and fled away on his feet. But Barak pursued after 10:50 the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth 10:53 of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell 10:56 upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left. 10:59 Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael 11:04 the wife of Heber the Kenite: for there was peace 11:08 between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber 11:11 the Kenite. And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, 11:15 Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. 11:18 And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, 11:22 she covered him with a mantle. And he said unto her, 11:26 Give me, I pray thee a little water to drink; 11:28 for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, 11:32 and gave him drink, and covered him. 11:33 Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, 11:37 and it shall be, when any man doth come and inquire of thee, 11:41 and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No. 11:44 Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, 11:48 and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, 11:52 and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it 11:56 into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died. 12:01 And, behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet 12:06 him and said unto him, Come, and I will shew thee the man 12:09 whom thou seekest. And when he came into her tent, behold, 12:13 Sisera lay dead, and the nail was in his temples. 12:16 So God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan 12:21 before the children of Israel. 12:22 And the hand of the children of Israel prospered, 12:25 and prevailed against Jabin the king of Canaan, 12:28 until they had destroyed Jabin the king of Canaan. 12:31 We're continuing now in the book of Judges, chapter 5, 12:35 and this is the King James Version. 12:37 Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, 12:42 saying, Praise ye the Lord for the avenging of Israel, 12:46 when the people willingly offered themselves. 12:48 Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, 12:54 will sing unto the Lord; I will sing praise to the Lord God 12:58 of Israel. Lord when thou wentest out of Seir, 13:01 when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, 13:03 the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, 13:05 the clouds also dropped water. The mountains melted 13:10 from before the Lord, even that Sinai from before the Lord, God 13:14 of Israel. In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, 13:17 in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, 13:21 and the travelers walked through byways. 13:23 The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, 13:27 until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel. 13:32 Thy chose new gods; then was war in the gates: 13:36 was there a shield or spear seen among 40,000 in Israel? 13:40 My heart is toward the governors of Israel, 13:43 that offered themselves willingly among the people 13:45 Bless ye the Lord. Speak ye that ride on white asses, 13:50 ye that sit in judgment, and walk by the way. 13:53 They that are delivered from the noise of archers 13:56 in the places of drawing water, there shall they rehearse 13:59 the righteous acts of the Lord, even the righteous acts 14:02 toward the inhabitants of his villages in Israel: 14:05 then shall the people of the Lord go down to the gates. 14:09 Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: 14:14 Arise, Barak, and lead thy captivity captive, 14:18 thou son of Abinoam. 14:20 Then he made him that remaineth have dominion over the nobles 14:24 among the people; the Lord made me to have dominion 14:27 over the mighty. - Thank you for being with me today 14:31 to read the Bible. Until we're together again, Goodbye. |
