00:17 Hello, and welcome to His Words Are Life.
00:19 I'm Kelly Mowrer, and today we're going to be reading 00:22 together from the book of Psalms. 00:24 It's very encouraging to me to read as David, a man after God's 00:29 own heart, expresses thoughts, feelings, and experiences that 00:36 I can identify with, and then I can learn from how he constantly 00:39 keeps returning to the themes of God's greatness, His power, 00:43 and His love. 00:44 Before we read let's pray together. 00:46 Dear Lord, thank You so much for this time to come and to sit 00:51 and to hear Your word of life. 00:54 Please may the Holy Spirit bring understanding to our hearts. 00:57 Amen. 00:58 We're picking up in Psalm 35, verse 10, and this is the 01:03 King James Version. 01:04 All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like unto thee, 01:10 which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, 01:14 yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him? 01:18 False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things 01:23 that I knew not. 01:24 They rewarded me evil for good to the spoiling of my soul. 01:29 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: 01:33 I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into 01:38 mine own bosom. 01:39 I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: 01:43 I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his mother. 01:47 But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered 01:51 themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves 01:55 together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, 01:59 and ceased not: with hypocritical mockers in feasts, 02:04 they gnashed upon me with their teeth. 02:06 Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their 02:12 destructions, my darling from the lions. 02:15 I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: 02:18 I will praise thee among much people. 02:21 Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice 02:25 over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me 02:30 without a cause. 02:31 For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters 02:37 against them that are quiet in the land. 02:39 Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and said, 02:43 Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it. 02:46 This thou hast seen, O Lord: keep not silence: 02:51 O Lord, be not far from me. 02:54 Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even unto my cause, 03:00 my God and my Lord. 03:02 Judge me, O Lord my God, according to thy righteousness; 03:06 and let them not rejoice over me. 03:08 Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: 03:12 let them not say, We have swallowed him up. 03:16 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together 03:21 that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame 03:26 and dishonour that magnify themselves against me. 03:29 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, 03:32 that favor my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, 03:38 Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity 03:43 of his servant. 03:44 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise 03:49 all the day long. 03:51 Continuing now in Psalm 36, and this is the King James Version. 03:58 The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, 04:01 that there is no fear of God before his eyes. 04:04 For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity 04:08 be found to be hateful. 04:10 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: 04:14 he hath left off to be wise, and to do good. 04:17 He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way 04:22 that is not good; he abhorreth not evil. 04:25 Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness 04:30 reacheth unto the clouds. 04:31 Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments 04:36 are a great deep: O Lord, thou preservest man and beast. 04:42 How excellent is thy loving- kindness, O God! therefore the 04:46 children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. 04:50 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness 04:54 of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river 04:57 of thy pleasures. 04:58 For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light 05:03 shall we see light. 05:05 O continue thy loving-kindness unto them that know thee; 05:09 and thy righteousness to the upright in heart. 05:13 Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand 05:18 of the wicked remove me. 05:20 There are the workers of iniquity fallen: 05:24 they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise. 05:28 Continuing in Psalm 37, and this is the King James Version. 05:34 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou 05:39 envious against the workers of iniquity. 05:41 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, 05:44 and wither as the green herb. 05:46 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, 05:51 and verily thou shalt be fed. 05:53 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee 05:58 the desires of thine heart. 05:59 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; 06:04 and he shall bring it to pass. 06:06 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, 06:11 and thy judgment as the noonday. 06:13 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: 06:17 fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, 06:22 because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 06:27 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself 06:32 in any wise to do evil. 06:34 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon 06:39 the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. 06:42 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: 06:46 yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, 06:49 and it shall not be. 06:51 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight 06:55 themselves in the abundance of peace. 06:58 The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him 07:02 with his teeth. 07:03 The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his 07:07 day is coming. 07:08 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, 07:12 to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of 07:16 upright conversation. 07:17 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, 07:21 and their bows shall be broken. 07:23 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches 07:28 of many wicked. 07:30 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord 07:33 upholdeth the righteous. 07:35 the Lord knoweth the days of the upright: 07:38 and their inheritance shall be forever. 07:41 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of 07:45 famine they shall be satisfied. 07:47 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be 07:52 as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they 07:57 consume away. 07:58 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous 08:04 showeth mercy, and giveth. 08:07 For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; 08:11 and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off. 08:14 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: 08:17 and he delighteth in his way. 08:19 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: 08:24 for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. 08:27 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the 08:33 righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. 08:37 He is ever merciful, and lendeth; 08:40 and his seed is blessed. 08:42 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell forevermore. 08:47 For the Lord loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; 08:50 they are preserved forever: but the seed of the wicked 08:55 shall be cut off. 08:56 The righteous shall inherit the land, 08:59 and dwell therein for ever. 09:01 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, 09:05 and his tongue talketh of judgment. 09:08 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his 09:12 steps shall slide. 09:14 The wicked watcheth the righteous, 09:16 and seeketh to slay him. 09:17 The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him 09:22 when he is judged. 09:24 Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee 09:30 to inherit the land when the wicked are cut off, 09:33 thou shalt see it. 09:34 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself 09:39 like a green bay tree. 09:41 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, 09:46 but he could not be found. 09:48 Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: 09:52 for the end of that man is peace. 09:54 But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: 09:58 the end of the wicked shall be cut off. 10:01 But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: 10:06 he is their strength in the time of trouble. 10:09 And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: 10:12 he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, 10:15 because they trust in him. 10:18 Continuing with Psalm 38. 10:20 This is the King James Version. 10:22 O Lord, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me 10:30 in thy hot displeasure. 10:31 For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand 10:35 presseth me sore. 10:36 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; 10:41 neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. 10:45 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: 10:48 as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. 10:52 My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness. 10:56 I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning 11:02 all the day long. 11:03 For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: 11:07 and there is no soundness in my flesh. 11:09 I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the 11:15 disquietness of my heart. 11:17 Lord, all my desire is before thee; and my groaning is not 11:22 hid from thee. 11:23 My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: 11:27 as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me. 11:32 My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my sore; 11:37 and my kinsmen stand afar off. 11:40 They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: 11:43 and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, 11:47 and imagine deceits all the day long. 11:49 But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that 11:55 openeth not his mouth. 11:57 Thus I was as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth 12:02 are no reproofs. 12:04 For in thee, O Lord, do I hope: thou wilt hear, O Lord my God. 12:10 For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice 12:14 over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves 12:18 against me. 12:19 For I am ready to halt, and my sorrow is continually before me. 12:24 For I will declare mine iniquity; 12:27 I will be sorry for my sin. 12:30 But mine enemies are lively, and they are strong: 12:33 and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied. 12:37 They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; 12:41 because I follow the thing that good is. 12:44 Forsake me not, O Lord: O my God, be not far from me. 12:50 Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation. 12:54 We're continuing with Psalm 39. 12:57 This is the King James Version. 12:59 I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my 13:05 tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked 13:10 is before me. 13:11 I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; 13:16 and my sorrow was stirred. 13:17 My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire 13:22 burned: then spake I with my tongue, Lord, make me to know 13:26 mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; 13:30 that I may know how frail I am. 13:32 Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; 13:37 and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man 13:41 at his best state is altogether vanity. 13:45 Selah. 13:46 Surely every man walketh in a vain show: surely they are 13:50 disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not 13:54 who shall gather them. 13:55 And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee. 14:02 Deliver me from all my transgressions: 14:05 make me not the reproach of the foolish. 14:08 I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it. 14:12 Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow 14:17 of thine hand. 14:18 When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, 14:22 thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: 14:25 surely every man is vanity. 14:28 Selah. 14:30 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; 14:36 hold not thy peace at my tears: |
