00:15 Hello and welcome to "His Words are Life."
00:17 I am Kelly Mower and today we are going to be reading
00:20 together from The Song of Songs
00:22 "The Song of Solomon." Let's pray before we start.
00:27 Dear God, please open our hearts today
00:31 as we read this Song of Songs and help us
00:35 to see a picture of You and the love that we
00:40 need to have for You and the love that You have for us.
00:45 Change us and make You the center
00:48 and the focus in the love of our life.
00:50 Thank you for hearing our prayer,
00:51 we pray it in the name of Jesus, amen.
00:56 We're beginning in the Song of Solomon
00:58 Chapter 1 with verse 11,
01:00 and this is the King James Version.
01:04 "We will make thee borders of gold with studs of silver.
01:08 While the King sitteth at his table,
01:10 my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof.
01:14 A bundle of myrrh is my well-beloved unto me,
01:18 he shall lie all night betwixt my breasts.
01:22 My beloved is unto me as a cluster of camphire
01:25 in the vineyards of Enge'di.
01:27 Behold, thou art fair, my love, behold, thou art fair
01:31 thou hast doves' eyes.
01:33 Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant,
01:36 also our bed is green.
01:38 The beams of our house are cedar,
01:40 and our rafters of fir."
01:43 Continuing in the Song of Solomon Chapter 2,
01:46 this is the King James Version."
01:49 I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.
01:53 As the lily among thorns,
01:55 so is my love among the daughters.
01:58 As the apple tree among the trees of the wood,
02:00 so is my beloved among the sons.
02:03 I sat down under his shadow with great delight,
02:06 and his fruit was sweet to my taste.
02:10 He brought me to the banqueting house,
02:13 and his banner over me was love.
02:16 Stay me with flagons, comfort me with apples,
02:20 for I am sick of love.
02:22 His left hand is under my head,
02:24 and his right hand doth embrace me.
02:27 I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem,
02:30 by the roes, and by the hinds of the field,
02:33 that ye stir not up,
02:34 nor awake my love, till he please.
02:37 The voice of my beloved! Behold,
02:40 he cometh leaping upon the mountains,
02:42 skipping upon the hills.
02:44 My beloved is like a roe or a young hart,
02:47 behold, he standeth behind our wall,
02:50 he looketh forth at the windows,
02:52 shewing himself through the lattice.
02:55 My beloved spake, and said unto me,
02:57 Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.
03:01 For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone.
03:05 The flowers appear on the earth,
03:07 the time of the singing of birds is come,
03:10 and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land,
03:12 The fig tree putteth forth her green figs,
03:15 and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell.
03:18 Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.
03:22 O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock,
03:26 in the secret places of the stairs,
03:28 let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice,
03:32 for sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely.
03:36 Take us the foxes, the little foxes,
03:39 that spoil the vines, for our vines
03:41 have tender grapes. My beloved is mine,
03:46 and I am his, he feedeth me among the lilies.
03:50 Until the day break, and the shadows flee away,
03:53 turn, my beloved, and be thou like a roe
03:57 or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether."
04:01 Continuing with the Song of Solomon Chapter 3,
04:04 and this is the King James Version.
04:07 "By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth,
04:12 I sought him, but I found him not.
04:14 I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets,
04:18 and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth,
04:22 I sought him, but I found him not.
04:26 The watchmen that go about the city found me,
04:29 to whom I said, Saw ye him whom my soul loveth?
04:33 It was but a little that I passed from them,
04:36 but I found him whom my soul loveth, I held him,
04:39 and would not let him go,
04:41 until I had brought him into my mother's house,
04:43 and into the chamber of her that conceived me.
04:46 I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem,
04:49 by the roes, and by the hinds of the field,
04:52 that ye stir not up, nor awake my love, till he please.
04:57 Who is this that cometh out of the wilderness
04:59 like pillars of smoke, perfumed with myrrh
05:02 and frankincense, with all powders of the merchant?
05:05 Behold his bed, which is Solomon's,
05:09 threescore valiant men are about it,
05:11 of the valiant of Israel.
05:13 They all hold swords, being expert in war,
05:16 every man hath his sword upon his thigh
05:18 because of fear in the night.
05:21 King Solomon made himself a chariot
05:23 of the wood of Lebanon.
05:24 He made the pillars thereof of silver,
05:26 the bottom thereof of gold, the covering of it of purple,
05:29 the midst thereof being paved with love,
05:31 for the daughters of Jerusalem.
05:34 Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion,
05:36 and behold king Solomon with the crown
05:39 where with his mother crowned him
05:40 in the day of his espousals,
05:42 and in the day of the gladness of his heart.
05:45 Continuing with the Song of Solomon Chapter 4,
05:48 and this is the King James Version.
05:51 "Behold, thou art fair, my love behold, thou art fair,
05:56 thou hast doves' eyes within thy locks,
05:58 thy hair is as a flock of goats,
06:00 that appear from mount Gilead.
06:02 Thy teeth are like a flock of sheep that are even shorn,
06:06 which came up from the washing whereof every one bear twins,
06:10 and none is barren among them.
06:12 Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet,
06:15 and thy speech is comely,
06:17 thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate
06:20 within thy locks.
06:22 Thy neck is like the tower of David
06:25 builded for an armoury,
06:26 whereon there hang a thousand bucklers
06:28 all shields of mighty men.
06:31 Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins,
06:35 which feed among the lilies.
06:37 Until the day break, and the shadows flee away,
06:40 I will get me to the mountain of myrrh,
06:43 and to the hill of frankincense.
06:45 Thou art all fair, my love, there is no spot in thee.
06:51 Come with me from Lebanon, my spouse,
06:53 with me from Lebanon, look from the top of Amana,
06:56 from the top of Shenir and Hermon,
06:58 from the lions' dens, from the mountains of the leopards.
07:02 Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse,
07:05 thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes,
07:08 with one chain of thy neck.
07:10 How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse!
07:14 How much better is thy love than wine!
07:17 And the smell of thine ointments than all spices!
07:21 Thy lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb,
07:24 honey and milk are under thy tongue,
07:26 and the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon.
07:30 A garden inclosed is my sister my spouse, a spring shut up,
07:36 a fountain sealed.
07:38 Thy plants are an orchard of pomegranates,
07:40 with pleasant fruits, camphire, with spikenard,
07:44 Spikenard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon,
07:48 with all trees of frankincense myrrh and aloes,
07:52 with all the chief spices, A fountain of gardens,
07:57 a well of living waters, and streams from Lebanon.
08:01 Awake, O north wind, and come, thou south,
08:04 blow upon my garden, that the spices
08:07 thereof may flow out.
08:09 Let my beloved come into his garden,
08:12 and eat his pleasant fruits."
08:15 Continuing with the Song of Solomon Chapter 5,
08:17 and this is the King James Version.
08:20 "I am come into my garden my sister, my spouse,
08:23 I have gathered my myrrh in my spice,
08:25 I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey,
08:27 I have drunk my wine with my milk, eat, O friends,
08:31 drink, yea, drink abundantly, O beloved.
08:35 I sleep, but my heart waketh,
08:37 it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh,
08:39 saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled
08:45 for my head is filled with dew,
08:46 and my locks with the drops of the night.
08:49 I have put off my coat, how shall I put it on?
08:52 I have washed my feet, how shall I defile them?
08:55 My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door,
08:58 and my bowels were moved for him.
09:00 I rose up to open to my beloved,
09:03 and my hands dropped with myrrh,
09:04 and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh,
09:07 upon the handles of the lock.
09:09 I opened to my beloved,
09:12 but my beloved had withdrawn himself,
09:14 and was gone, my soul failed when he spake,
09:17 I sought him, but I could not find him,
09:20 I called him, but he gave me no answer.
09:23 The watchmen that went about the city found me,
09:26 they smote me, they wounded me,
09:28 the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me.
09:31 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
09:33 if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him,
09:35 that I am sick of love.
09:38 What is thy beloved more than another beloved,
09:40 O thou fairest among women?
09:42 What is thy beloved more than another beloved,
09:44 that thou dost so charge us?
09:47 My beloved is white and ruddy,
09:49 the chiefest among ten thousand.
09:52 His head is as the most fine gold,
09:55 his locks are bushy, and black as a raven.
09:57 His eyes are as the eyes of doves
09:59 by the rivers of waters, washed with milk,
10:02 and fitly set.
10:03 His cheeks are as a bed of spices,
10:06 as sweet flowers, his lips like lilies,
10:09 dropping sweet smelling myrrh.
10:12 His hands are as gold rings set with the beryl,
10:15 his belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires.
10:20 His legs are as pillars of marble,
10:22 set upon sockets of fine gold, his countenance is as Lebanon,
10:28 excellent as the cedars.
10:30 His mouth is most sweet, yea, he is altogether lovely.
10:35 This is my beloved, and this is my friend,
10:38 O daughters of Jerusalem."
10:41 Continuing with the Song of Solomon Chapter 6,
10:43 this is the King James Version.
10:46 "Whither is thy beloved gone, O thou fairest among women?
10:50 Whither is thy beloved turned aside?
10:53 that we may seek him with thee.
10:56 My beloved is gone down into his garden,
10:58 to the beds of spices, to feed in the gardens,
11:00 and to gather lilies.
11:02 I am my beloved, and my beloved is mine,
11:06 he feedeth among the lilies.
11:09 Thou art beautiful, O my love, as Tirzah, comely as Jerusalem
11:12 terrible as an army with banners.
11:15 Turn away thine eyes from me, for they have overcome me,
11:18 thy hair is as a flock of goats
11:20 that appear from Gilead.
11:22 Thy teeth are as a flock of sheep which go up
11:24 from the washing, whereof every one beareth twins,
11:27 and there is not one barren among them.
11:29 As a piece of a pomegranate are thy temples
11:32 within thy locks.
11:34 There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines,
11:37 and virgins without number.
11:39 My dove, my undefiled is but one,
11:43 she is the only one of her mother,
11:45 she is the choice one of her that bare her.
11:48 The daughters saw her, and blessed her,
11:50 yea, the queens and the concubines,
11:52 and they praised her.
11:54 Who is she that looketh forth as the morning,
11:57 fair as the moon, clear as the sun,
12:00 and terrible as an army with banners?
12:03 I went down into the garden of nuts
12:05 to see the fruits of the valley,
12:06 and to see whether the vine flourished,
12:08 and the pomegranates budded.
12:10 Or ever I was aware,
12:11 my soul made me like the chariots of Amminadib.
12:14 Return, return, O Shulamite, return, return,
12:18 that we may look upon thee.
12:20 What will ye see in the Shulamite?
12:22 As it were the company of two armies."
12:26 Continuing with Song of Solomon Chapter 7,
12:28 this is the King James Version.
12:31 "How beautiful are thy feet with shoes,
12:33 O prince's daughter!
12:35 The joints of thy thighs are like jewels,
12:38 the work of the hands of a cunning workman.
12:41 Thy navel is like a round goblet,
12:43 which wanteth not liquor,
12:45 thy belly is like an heap of wheat
12:47 set about with lilies.
12:49 Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins.
12:53 Thy neck is as a tower of ivory,
12:56 thine eyes like the fishpools in Heshbon,
12:59 by the gate of Bath-rabbim,
13:01 thy nose is as the tower of Lebanon
13:03 which looketh toward Damascus.
13:06 Thine head upon thee is like Carmel,
13:07 and the hair of thine head like purple,
13:10 the king is held in the galleries.
13:13 How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights
13:18 This thy stature is like to a palm tree,
13:21 and thy breasts to clusters of grapes.
13:24 I said, I will go up to the palm tree,
13:27 I will take hold of the boughs thereof,
13:30 now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine,
13:33 and the smell of thy nose like apples,
13:35 And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine for my beloved,
13:39 that goeth down sweetly,
13:41 causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak.
13:45 I am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me.
13:51 Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field
13:53 let us lodge in the villages.
13:55 Let us get up early to the vineyards,
13:58 let us see if the vine flourish,
14:00 whether the tender grape appear,
14:02 and the pomegranates bud forth,
14:04 there will I give thee my loves.
14:07 The mandrakes give a smell,
14:09 and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits,
14:11 new and old,
14:14 which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved."
14:19 Please join me again next time
14:20 to read the word of God together.
14:23 And as we have spent this time together
14:25 reading the Song of Songs,
14:28 the great love of song of King Salmon.
14:30 May the Holy Spirit have planted in each of our hearts
14:33 a deeper love for God,
14:35 so that He becomes our sole focus
14:37 in the source of all beauty in our lives?
