00:15 Hello, and welcome back to "His Words are Life."
00:17 I'm Kelly Mowrer,
00:18 and thank you for being with me today
00:20 to read the Bible together.
00:21 Let's pray before we start.
00:24 Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for this time
00:28 to spend particularly in your presence
00:31 hearing Your words to us.
00:33 Please send the Holy Spirit to give us understanding.
00:36 We love you so much and thank you for loving us, amen.
00:41 We're reading in Isaiah Chapter 28,
00:43 beginning with verse 27
00:45 and this is the King James Version.
00:50 with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel
00:52 turned about upon the cummin,
00:55 but the fitches are beaten out with a staff,
00:58 and the cummin with a rod.
01:00 Bread corn is bruised, because he will not ever
01:03 be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart,
01:06 nor bruise it with his horsemen.
01:08 This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts,
01:10 which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.
01:15 Continuing with Isaiah Chapter 29,
01:17 this is the King James Version.
01:20 Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt!
01:25 add ye year to year, let them kill sacrifices.
01:29 Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be
01:31 heaviness and sorrow, and it shall be unto me as Ariel.
01:35 And I will camp against thee round about,
01:37 and will lay siege against thee with a mount,
01:40 and I will raise forts against thee.
01:42 And thou shalt be brought down,
01:44 and shalt speak out of the ground,
01:46 and thy speech shall be low out of the dust,
01:49 and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath
01:52 a familiar spirit, out of the ground,
01:54 and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.
01:57 Moreover the multitude of thy strangers
02:00 shall be like small dust,
02:01 and the multitude of the terrible ones
02:03 shall be as chaff that passeth away,
02:06 yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.
02:10 Thou shalt be visited
02:11 of the Lord of hosts with thunder,
02:13 and with earthquake, and great noise,
02:16 with storm and tempest,
02:17 and the flame of devouring fire.
02:19 And the multitude of all the nations
02:21 that fight against Ariel, even all that fight
02:24 against her and her munition, and that distress her,
02:28 shall be as a dream of a night vision.
02:31 It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth,
02:33 and, behold, he eateth, but he awaketh,
02:36 and his soul is empty, or as when a thirsty man dreameth,
02:39 and, behold, he drinketh, but he awaketh,
02:41 and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite,
02:45 so shall the multitude of all the nations be,
02:48 that fight against mount Zion.
02:51 Stay yourselves, and wonder, cry ye out,
02:54 and cry, they are drunken, but not with wine,
02:58 they stagger, but not with strong drink.
03:02 For the Lord hath poured out upon you
03:04 the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes,
03:08 the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
03:13 And the vision of all is become unto you
03:15 as the words of a book that is sealed,
03:17 which men deliver to one that is learned, saying,
03:19 Read this, I pray thee, and he saith,
03:22 I cannot, for it is sealed,
03:25 And the book is delivered to him
03:26 that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee,
03:29 and he saith, I am not learned.
03:32 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw
03:35 near me with their mouth,
03:37 and with their lips do honour me,
03:40 but have removed their heart far from me,
03:43 and their fear toward me
03:44 is taught by the precept of men,
03:46 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do
03:49 a marvellous work among this people,
03:51 even a marvellous work and a wonder,
03:53 for the wisdom of their wise men
03:54 shall perish, and the understanding
03:55 of their prudent men shall be hid.
03:58 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide
04:01 their counsel from the Lord,
04:03 and their works are in the dark,
04:04 and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
04:08 Surely your turning of things upside down
04:10 shall be esteemed as the potter's clay,
04:13 for shall the work say of him that made it,
04:16 He made me not? or shall the thing framed
04:20 say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
04:25 Is it not yet a very little while,
04:28 and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field,
04:32 and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?
04:35 And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book,
04:39 and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity,
04:42 and out of darkness.
04:43 The meek also shall increase their joy in the Lord,
04:47 and the poor among men shall rejoice
04:49 in the Holy One of Israel.
04:51 For the terrible one is brought to nought,
04:53 and the scorner is consumed,
04:55 and all that watch for iniquity are cut off,
04:59 That make a man an offender for a word,
05:01 and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate,
05:04 and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.
05:08 Therefore thus saith the Lord, who redeemed Abraham,
05:12 concerning the house of Jacob,
05:14 Jacob shall not now be ashamed,
05:17 neither shall his face now wax pale.
05:22 But when he seeth his children,
05:24 the work of mine hands,
05:25 in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name,
05:28 and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob,
05:30 and shall fear the God of Israel.
05:33 They also that erred in spirit
05:35 shall come to understanding,
05:37 and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.
05:41 Continuing in the book of Isaiah Chapter 30,
05:44 and this is the King James Version.
05:46 Woe to the rebellious children,
05:49 says the Lord,
05:50 that take counsel, but not of me,
05:52 and that cover with a covering,
05:55 but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin,
06:00 That walk to go down into Egypt,
06:01 and have not asked at my mouth,
06:04 to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh,
06:06 and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!
06:08 Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame,
06:13 and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.
06:18 For his princes were at Zoan,
06:20 and his ambassadors came to Hanes.
06:22 They were all ashamed of a people
06:24 that could not profit them, nor be an help nor profit,
06:28 but a shame, and also a reproach.
06:31 The burden of the beasts of the south,
06:33 into the land of trouble and anguish,
06:35 from whence come the young and old lion,
06:37 the viper and fiery flying serpent,
06:40 they will carry their riches
06:42 upon the shoulders of young asses,
06:43 and their treasures upon the bunches of camels,
06:46 to a people that shall not profit them.
06:50 For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose,
06:54 therefore have I cried concerning this,
06:57 Their strength is to sit still.
07:00 Now go, write it before them in a table,
07:03 and note it in a book, that it may be for the time
07:07 to come for ever and ever,
07:09 That this is a rebellious people,
07:11 lying children, children that will not hear
07:13 the law of the Lord, Which say to the seers,
07:17 See not, and to the prophets,
07:19 Prophesy not unto us right things,
07:21 speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits,
07:26 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path,
07:29 cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.
07:34 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel,
07:36 Because ye despise this word,
07:39 and trust in oppression and perverseness,
07:42 and stay thereon, Therefore this iniquity
07:45 shall be to you as a breach ready to fall,
07:49 swelling out in a high wall,
07:52 whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.
07:55 And he shall break it as the breaking
07:57 of the potters' vessel that is broken in pieces,
08:00 he shall not spare,
08:02 so that there shall not be found
08:03 in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth,
08:07 or to take water withal out of the pit.
08:11 For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel,
08:15 In returning and rest shall ye be saved,
08:19 in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength,
08:24 and ye would not.
08:26 But ye said, No, for we will flee upon horses,
08:30 therefore shall ye flee, and, We will ride upon the swift,
08:34 therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.
08:39 One thousand shall flee at the rebuke of one,
08:41 at the rebuke of five shall ye flee,
08:44 till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain,
08:47 and as an ensign on an hill.
08:50 And therefore will the Lord wait,
08:52 that he may be gracious unto you,
08:54 and therefore will he be exalted,
08:56 that he may have mercy upon you,
08:58 for the Lord is a God of judgment,
09:00 blessed are all they that wait for him.
09:05 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem,
09:07 thou shalt weep no more, he will be very gracious
09:11 unto thee at the voice of thy cry,
09:14 when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.
09:17 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity,
09:21 and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be
09:26 removed into a corner any more,
09:28 but thine eyes shall see thy teachers,
09:31 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee,
09:34 saying, This is the way, walk ye in it,
09:38 when ye turn to the right hand,
09:40 and when ye turn to the left.
09:42 Ye shall defile also the covering of
09:45 thy graven images of silver,
09:46 and the ornament of thy molten images of gold,
09:49 thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth,
09:53 thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence.
09:56 Then shall he give the rain of thy seed,
09:59 that thou shalt sow the ground withal,
10:02 and bread of the increase of the earth,
10:04 and it shall be fat and plenteous,
10:07 in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures.
10:12 The oxen likewise and the young asses
10:15 that ear the ground shall eat clean provender,
10:18 which hath been winnowed with the shovel and with the fan.
10:22 And there shall be upon every high mountain,
10:24 and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters
10:28 in the day of the great slaughter,
10:29 when the towers fall.
10:32 Moreover the light of the moon
10:33 shall be as the light of the sun,
10:35 and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold,
10:37 as the light of seven days, in the day that the Lord
10:40 bindeth up the breach of his people,
10:43 and healeth the stroke of their wound.
10:46 Behold, the name of the Lord cometh from far,
10:49 burning with his anger,
10:51 and the burden thereof is heavy,
10:53 his lips are full of indignation,
10:55 and his tongue as a devouring fire,
10:59 And his breath, as an overflowing stream,
11:02 shall reach to the midst of the neck,
11:04 to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity,
11:07 and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people,
11:11 causing them to err.
11:13 Ye shall have a song, as in the night
11:15 when a holy solemnity is kept,
11:17 and gladness of heart, as when one goeth
11:19 with a pipe to come into the mountain of the Lord,
11:22 to the mighty One of Israel.
11:24 And the Lord shall cause
11:25 his glorious voice to be heard,
11:27 and shall shew the lighting down of his arm,
11:31 with the indignation of his anger,
11:32 and with the flame of a devouring fire,
11:34 with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.
11:38 For through the voice of the Lord
11:40 shall the Assyrian be beaten down,
11:42 which smote with a rod.
11:44 And in every place
11:45 where the grounded staff shall pass,
11:48 which the Lord shall lay upon him,
11:50 it shall be with tabrets and harps,
11:52 and in battles of shaking will he fight with it.
11:57 For Tophet is ordained of old,
11:59 yea, for the king it is prepared,
12:02 he hath made it deep and large,
12:04 the pile thereof is fire and much wood,
12:07 the breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone,
12:11 doth kindle it."
12:14 Continuing to read in the book of Isaiah
12:15 Chapter 31, and this is the King James Version.
12:19 "Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help,
12:23 and stay on horses, and trust in chariots,
12:27 because they are many, and in horsemen,
12:29 because they are very strong,
12:31 but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel,
12:34 neither seek the Lord!
12:37 Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil,
12:39 and will not call back his words,
12:40 but will arise against the house of the evildoers,
12:43 and against the help of them that work iniquity.
12:47 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God,
12:50 and their horses flesh, and not spirit.
12:54 When the Lord shall stretch out his hand,
12:56 both he that helpeth shall fall,
12:58 and he that is holpen shall fall down,
13:01 and they all shall fail together.
13:04 For thus hath the Lord spoken unto me,
13:06 Like as the lion and the young lion
13:08 roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds
13:11 is called forth against him,
13:13 he will not be afraid of their voice,
13:15 nor abase himself for the noise of them,
13:18 so shall the Lord of hosts come down to fight
13:21 for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.
13:24 As birds flying, so will the Lord of hosts
13:27 defend Jerusalem,
13:29 defending also he will deliver it,
13:32 and passing over he will preserve it.
13:36 Turn ye unto him
13:38 from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted.
13:41 For in that day every man shall cast away
13:43 his idols of silver, and his idols of gold,
13:45 which your own hands have made unto you for a sin.
13:49 Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword,
13:52 not of a mighty man, and the sword,
13:55 not of a mean man, shall devour him,
13:56 but he shall flee from the sword,
13:59 and his young men shall be discomfited.
14:02 And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear,
14:05 and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign,
14:07 saith the Lord, whose fire is in Zion,
14:10 and his furnace in Jerusalem."
14:12 Continuing with Isaiah Chapter 32.
14:16 "Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness,
14:20 and princes shall rule in judgment.
14:23 And a man shall be as an hiding place
14:26 from the wind, and a covert from the tempest,
14:29 as rivers of water in a dry place,
14:32 as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land".
