00:15 Hello, and welcome to "His Words Are Life."
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer, 00:19 and thank you for joining with me today 00:21 to read the Bible together. 00:22 Let's pray before we start. 00:25 Dear Heavenly Father, 00:26 thank you for this opportunity 00:27 to read the words of Isaiah, 00:30 as he talks about You as our Savior. 00:33 Please show us today 00:36 in everything that each one of us are facing, 00:39 how You are our source and our supply, 00:42 our redeemer and our rock. 00:45 We love you so much 00:46 and thank you for loving us, amen. 00:50 We are reading in the book of Isaiah Chapter 32, 00:53 picking up in verse 3. 00:56 Isaiah is writing about 00:57 "when the king shall reign in righteousness." 01:01 And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, 01:06 and the ears of them that hear shall hearken. 01:09 The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, 01:12 and the tongue of the stammerers 01:14 shall be ready to speak plainly. 01:17 The vile person shall be no more called liberal, 01:20 nor the churl said to be bountiful. 01:23 For the vile person will speak villany, 01:25 and his heart will work iniquity, 01:26 to practise hypocrisy, 01:28 and to utter error against the Lord, 01:31 to make empty the soul of the hungry, 01:33 and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail. 01:37 The instruments also of the churl are evil, 01:40 he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor 01:44 with lying words, 01:45 even when the needy speaketh right. 01:48 But the liberal deviseth liberal things, 01:51 and by liberal things shall he stand. 01:54 Rise up, ye women that are at ease, 01:57 hear my voice, ye careless daughters, 01:59 give ear unto my speech. 02:01 Many days and years shall ye be troubled, 02:04 ye careless women, for the vintage shall fail, 02:08 the gathering shall not come. 02:11 Tremble, ye women that are at ease, 02:14 be troubled, ye careless ones, 02:16 strip you, and make you bare, 02:17 and gird sackcloth upon your loins. 02:20 They shall lament for the teats, 02:22 for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine. 02:26 Upon the land of my people 02:27 shall come up thorns and briers, 02:29 yea, upon all the houses of joy 02:32 in the joyous city, 02:33 Because the palaces shall be forsaken, 02:36 the multitude of the city shall be left, 02:39 the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, 02:43 a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks, 02:47 Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, 02:51 and the wilderness be a fruitful field, 02:53 and the fruitful field be counted for a forest. 02:57 Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, 02:59 and righteousness remain in the fruitful field. 03:03 And the work of righteousness shall be peace, 03:06 and the effect of righteousness 03:08 quietness and assurance for ever. 03:12 And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, 03:16 and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places, 03:21 When it shall hail, coming down on the forest, 03:24 and the city shall be low in a low place. 03:27 Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters, 03:31 that send forth thither 03:32 the feet of the ox and the ass." 03:36 Continuing to read in Isaiah, 03:38 this is Chapter 33 in the King James Version. 03:43 "Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled, 03:48 and dealest treacherously, 03:49 and they dealt not treacherously with thee! 03:52 when thou shalt cease to spoil, 03:54 thou shalt be spoiled, 03:56 and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, 03:59 they shall deal treacherously with thee. 04:02 O Lord, be gracious unto us, we have waited for thee, 04:08 be thou their arm every morning, 04:11 our salvation also in the time of trouble. 04:14 At the noise of the tumult the people fled, 04:17 at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered. 04:21 And your spoil shall be gathered 04:22 like the gathering of the caterpiller, 04:24 as the running to and fro of locusts 04:27 shall he run upon them. 04:29 The Lord is exalted, for he dwelleth on high, 04:33 he hath filled Zion 04:34 with judgment and righteousness. 04:37 And wisdom and knowledge 04:39 shall be the stability of thy times, 04:42 and strength of salvation, 04:44 the fear of the Lord is his treasure. 04:48 Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without, 04:51 the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly. 04:55 The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth, 04:59 he hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, 05:03 he regardeth no man. 05:06 The earth mourneth and languisheth, 05:09 Lebanon is ashamed and hewn down, 05:12 Sharon is like a wilderness, 05:14 and Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits. 05:18 Now will I rise, saith the Lord, 05:21 now will I be exalted, now will I lift up myself. 05:27 Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble, 05:31 your breath, as fire, shall devour you. 05:34 And the people shall be as the burnings of lime, 05:37 as thorns cut up 05:39 shall they be burned in the fire. 05:42 Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done, 05:46 and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might. 05:50 The sinners in Zion are afraid, 05:52 fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. 05:56 Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? 06:00 Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings? 06:04 He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly, 06:07 he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, 06:11 that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, 06:14 that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, 06:18 and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil, 06:22 He shall dwell on high, 06:24 his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks, 06:28 bread shall be given him, his waters shall be sure. 06:33 Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty, 06:36 they shall behold the land that is very far off. 06:39 Thine heart shall meditate terror. 06:41 Where is the scribe? 06:42 Where is the receiver? 06:43 Where is he that counted the towers? 06:46 Thou shalt not see a fierce people, 06:49 a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive, 06:52 of a stammering tongue, 06:53 that thou canst not understand. 06:56 Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities, 07:00 thine eyes shall see Jerusalem 07:02 a quiet habitation, 07:04 a tabernacle that shall not be taken down, 07:07 not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, 07:11 neither shall any of the cords 07:12 thereof be broken. 07:14 But there the glorious Lord will be unto us 07:18 a place of broad rivers and streams, 07:22 wherein shall go no galley with oars, 07:24 neither shall gallant ship pass thereby. 07:27 For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, 07:32 the Lord is our king, he will save us. 07:36 Thy tacklings are loosed, 07:38 they could not well strengthen their mast, 07:41 they could not spread the sail, 07:43 then is the prey of a great spoil divided, 07:46 the lame take the prey. 07:48 And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick, 07:51 the people that dwell therein 07:54 shall be forgiven their iniquity." 07:57 Continuing in the book of Isaiah 07:59 Chapter 34 and this is the King James Version. 08:03 "Come near, ye nations, to hear, and hearken, 08:05 ye people, let the earth hear, 08:08 and all that is therein, 08:10 the world, and all things that come forth of it. 08:13 For the indignation of the Lord 08:14 is upon all nations, 08:15 and his fury upon all their armies, 08:18 he hath utterly destroyed them, 08:20 he hath delivered them to the slaughter. 08:23 Their slain also shall be cast out, 08:25 and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, 08:28 and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. 08:32 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, 08:34 and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll, 08:39 and all their host shall fall down, 08:41 as the leaf falleth off from the vine, 08:44 and as a falling fig from the fig tree. 08:48 For my sword shall be bathed in heaven, 08:51 behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, 08:54 and upon the people of my curse, to judgment. 08:58 The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, 09:01 it is made fat with fatness, 09:03 and with the blood of lambs and goats, 09:05 with the fat of the kidneys of rams, 09:08 for the Lord hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, 09:11 and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea. 09:15 And the unicorns shall come down with them, 09:17 and the bullocks with the bulls, 09:19 and their land shall be soaked with blood, 09:21 and their dust made fat with fatness. 09:24 For it is the day of the Lord's vengeance, 09:26 and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion. 09:31 And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, 09:34 and the dust thereof into brimstone, 09:36 and the land thereof shall become burning pitch. 09:40 It shall not be quenched night nor day, 09:43 the smoke thereof shall go up for ever, 09:45 from generation to generation it shall lie waste, 09:49 none shall pass through it for ever and ever. 09:53 But the cormorant 09:54 and the bittern shall possess it, 09:56 the owl also and the raven shall dwell in it, 10:00 and he shall stretch out upon it 10:02 the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness. 10:07 They shall call the nobles thereof to the kingdom, 10:09 but none shall be there, 10:11 and all her princes shall be nothing. 10:14 And thorns shall come up in her palaces, 10:16 nettles and brambles in the fortresses thereof, 10:20 and it shall be an habitation of dragons, 10:23 and a court for owls. 10:25 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet 10:27 with the wild beasts of the island, 10:29 and the satyr shall cry to his fellow, 10:31 the screech owl also shall rest there, 10:34 and find for herself a place of rest. 10:37 There shall the great owl make her nest, 10:39 and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow, 10:43 there shall the vultures also be gathered, 10:46 every one with her mate. 10:49 Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read, 10:53 no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate, 10:56 for my mouth it hath commanded, 10:59 and his spirit it hath gathered them. 11:03 And he hath cast the lot for them, 11:04 and his hand hath divided it unto them by line, 11:08 they shall possess it for ever, 11:09 from generation to generation shall they dwell therein". 11:14 We are reading now in Isaiah 11:16 Chapter 35 and this is the King James Version. 11:20 "The wilderness and the solitary place 11:22 shall be glad for them, and the desert shall rejoice, 11:26 and blossom as the rose. 11:29 It shall blossom abundantly, 11:31 and rejoice even with joy and singing, 11:34 the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, 11:37 the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, 11:39 they shall see the glory of the Lord, 11:41 and the excellency of our God. 11:44 Strengthen ye the weak hands, 11:47 and confirm the feeble knees. 11:50 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, 11:53 Be strong, fear not, 11:55 behold, your God will come with vengeance, 11:59 even God with a recompence, he will come and save you. 12:05 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, 12:08 and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 12:10 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, 12:14 and the tongue of the dumb sing, 12:16 for in the wilderness shall waters break out, 12:19 and streams in the desert. 12:21 And the parched ground shall become a pool, 12:23 and the thirsty land springs of water, 12:27 in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, 12:30 shall be grass with reeds and rushes. 12:34 And an highway shall be there, 12:35 and a way, and it shall be called 12:37 The way of holiness, 12:39 the unclean shall not pass over it, 12:41 but it shall be for those, the wayfaring men, 12:45 though fools, shall not err therein. 12:48 No lion shall be there, 12:50 nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, 12:53 it shall not be found there, 12:55 but the redeemed shall walk there, 12:58 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, 13:01 and come to Zion with songs 13:03 and everlasting joy upon their heads, 13:06 they shall obtain joy and gladness, 13:09 and sorrow and sighing shall flee away." 13:14 Continuing in Isaiah Chapter 36. 13:18 "Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year 13:21 of king Hezekiah, 13:22 that Sennacherib king of Assyria 13:25 came up against all the defenced cities of Judah, 13:28 and took them. 13:30 And the king of Assyria sent Rabshakeh 13:34 from Lachish to Jerusalem 13:36 unto king Hezekiah with a great army. 13:39 And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool 13:42 in the highway of the fuller's field. 13:45 Then came forth unto him Eliakim, 13:48 Hilkiah's son, which was over the house, 13:51 and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, 13:54 Asaph's son, the recorder. 13:57 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, 14:02 Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, 14:06 What confidence is this wherein thou trustest? 14:11 I say, sayest thou, but they are but vain words 14:16 I have counsel and strength for war, 14:19 now on whom dost thou trust, 14:21 that thou rebellest against me? 14:24 Lo, thou trustest in the staff 14:26 of this broken reed, on Egypt, 14:29 whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, 14:31 and pierce it, 14:33 so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him. |
