00:15 Hello and welcome to His Words Are Life.
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer and we're going to continue reading together
00:20 in the book of Isaiah. But before we start let's pray.
00:24 Dear heavenly Father, I ask that you would please send the Holy
00:29 Spirit to the hearts of everyone who's listening right now and
00:34 that these words may be used to the purpose that you intended
00:38 them when they were spoken from your mouth all those many
00:42 centuries before. Be with us now as we read. We ask this in the
00:46 name of your son Jesus. Amen We are beginning to read in
00:51 Isaiah chapter 52. This is the King James Version.
00:55 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy
01:00 beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth
01:04 there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the
01:09 unclean. Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O
01:13 Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive
01:18 daughter of Zion. For thus saith the Lord, Ye have sold
01:22 yourselves for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money.
01:26 For thus saith the Lord God, My people went down aforetime
01:30 into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them
01:35 without cause. Now therefore, what have I here, saith the
01:39 Lord, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule
01:43 over them make them to howl, saith the Lord; and my name
01:46 continually every day is blasphemed. Therefore my
01:50 people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in
01:55 that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.
02:00 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that
02:04 bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth
02:09 good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith
02:13 unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! Thy watchmen shall lift up the
02:17 voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall
02:21 see eye to eye, when the Lord shall bring again Zion. Break
02:26 forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem:
02:30 for the Lord hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed
02:34 Jerusalem. The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of
02:39 all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the
02:43 salvation of our God. Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence
02:49 touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye
02:53 clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord. For ye shall not go
02:58 out with haste, nor go by flight: for the Lord will go
03:03 before you; and the God of Israel will be your rereward.
03:08 Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted
03:13 and extolled, and be very high. As many were astonied at thee;
03:18 his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more
03:22 than the sons of men: So shall he sprinkle many nations; the
03:27 kings shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been
03:31 told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard
03:35 shall they consider.
03:36 Continuing to read in Isaiah chapter 53
03:42 and this is the King James Version.
03:43 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the
03:48 Lord revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant,
03:53 and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor
03:59 comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that
04:03 we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men;
04:08 a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it
04:14 were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him
04:19 not. Surely he hath born our griefs, and carried our sorrows:
04:25 yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
04:30 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised
04:35 for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace
04:40 was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we
04:46 like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own
04:51 way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
04:57 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his
05:02 mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep
05:07 before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
05:12 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall
05:16 declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of
05:21 the living: for the transgression of my
05:23 people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked,
05:27 and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence,
05:32 neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the Lord
05:37 to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make
05:41 his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall
05:46 prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall
05:50 prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul,
05:55 and shall be satisfied; by his knowledge shall my righteous
06:00 servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
06:05 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he
06:09 shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured
06:13 out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the
06:17 transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made
06:21 intercession for the transgressors.
06:24 Continuing to read Isaiah chapter 54
06:27 and this is the King James Version.
06:30 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into
06:34 singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with
06:39 child: for more are the children of the desolate than the
06:43 children of the married wife, saith the Lord. Enlarge the
06:48 place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of
06:52 thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and
06:55 strengthen thy stakes; for thou shalt break forth on the right
06:59 hand and on the left; and thy see shall inherit the Gentiles,
07:04 and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. Fear not; for thou
07:08 shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou
07:12 shalt not be put to shame; for the shalt forget the shame of
07:16 thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach
07:18 of thy widowhood any more. For thy Maker is thine husband; the
07:23 Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of
07:28 Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
07:31 For the Lord hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in
07:36 spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith
07:41 thy God. For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with
07:46 great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my
07:51 face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness
07:55 will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer. For this
08:01 is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that
08:05 the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have
08:10 I sworn that I would not be wrothwith thee, nor rebuke thee.
08:14 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but
08:18 my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the
08:22 covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that
08:26 hath mercy on thee. O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest,
08:32 and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair
08:38 colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires. And I will make
08:42 thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy
08:47 borders of pleasant stones. And all thy children shall be taught
08:51 of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children.
08:56 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far
09:00 from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for
09:04 it shall not come near thee. Behold, they shall surely gather
09:08 together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather
09:12 together against thee shall fall for thy sake. Behold, I have
09:16 created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that
09:19 bringeth forth an instrument for his work: and I have created
09:24 the waster to destroy. No weapon that is formed against thee
09:28 shall prosper; and every tongue that shall arise against thee in
09:32 judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the
09:36 servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me,
09:40 saith the Lord.
09:42 Continuing in Isaiah chapter 55
09:44 and this is the King James Version.
09:47 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he
09:52 that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy
09:57 wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do
10:01 ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for
10:06 that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and
10:10 eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in
10:16 fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your
10:20 soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant
10:24 with you, even the sure mercies of David. Behold, I have given
10:29 him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the
10:32 people. Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not,
10:36 and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of
10:40 the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath
10:45 glorified thee. Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye
10:50 upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and
10:55 the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return
10:58 unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God,
11:03 for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your
11:07 thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
11:11 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways
11:15 higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
11:20 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and
11:25 returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh
11:27 it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower,
11:30 and bread to the eater: so shall my word be that goeth forth out
11:34 my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall
11:39 accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the
11:44 thing whereto I sent it. For ye shall go out with joy, and be
11:49 led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall
11:53 break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of
11:56 the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn
12:00 shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come
12:04 the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for
12:09 an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
12:13 Continuing in Isaiah chapter 56
12:16 and this is the King James Version.
12:18 Thus saith the Lord, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for
12:24 my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be
12:28 revealed. Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of
12:32 man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the Sabbath from
12:35 polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
12:38 Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined
12:42 himself to the Lord, speak, saying, The Lord hath utterly
12:45 separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say,
12:48 Behold, I am a dry tree. For thus saith the Lord unto the
12:52 eunuchs that keep my Sabbaths, and choose the things that
12:55 please me, and take hold of my covenant; Even unto them will I
12:59 give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name
13:03 better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an
13:08 everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. Also the sons of
13:12 the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord,
13:15 to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be his
13:18 servants, every on that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it,
13:21 and taketh hold of my covenant; even them will I bring to my
13:25 holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer:
13:28 their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted
13:32 upon mine alter; for mine house shall be called an house of
13:37 prayer for all people. The Lord God, which gathereth the
13:41 outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him,
13:46 beside those that are gathered unto him. All ye beasts of
13:50 the field, come to devour, yea, all ye beasts in the forest.
13:54 His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb
13:58 dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping lying down, loving to slumber.
14:02 Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they
14:06 are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to
14:08 their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter. Come ye,
14:12 say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with
14:16 strong drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day, and much more
14:19 abundant.
14:22 Continuing with Isaiah chapter 57.
14:23 The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and
14:27 merciful men are taken away, none considering that the
14:31 righteous is taken away from the evil go come. He shall enter
14:34 into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking
14:38 in his uprightness.
