00:17 I am Kelly Mowrer and today we're going 00:19 to be reading in the Book of Jeremiah. 00:21 But before we start let's pray. 00:24 Dear Heavenly Father, as we hear today 00:27 Your words spoken so long ago. 00:30 Please send the Holy Spirit 00:32 to bring them new meaning to our lives today. 00:36 May we not turn aside from what you have told us to do 00:40 and for the good of our souls and for the safety of our feet 00:44 and our lives keep us walking in Your ways. 00:47 We love you so much 00:48 and thank You for loving us, amen. 00:51 We're reading in the book of Jeremiah. 00:53 Staring in Chapter 44, with verse 26 00:57 this is the King James Version. 01:00 "Therefore hear ye the word of the Lord, 01:03 all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt. 01:06 Behold I have sworn by my great name, 01:09 saith the Lord, that my name 01:12 shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah 01:15 in all the land of Egypt. 01:17 Saying, the Lord God liveth, 01:18 behold, I will watch over them for evil, 01:21 and not for good, and all the men of Judah 01:23 that are in the land of Egypt. 01:25 Shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, 01:28 until there be an end of them. 01:30 Yet a small number that escape the sword 01:34 shall return out of the land of Egypt 01:35 into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, 01:39 that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, 01:42 shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs. 01:48 And this shall be a sign unto you, 01:50 saith the Lord that I will punish you 01:51 in this place that ye may know 01:53 that my words shall surely stand against you for evil. 01:58 Thus saith the Lord behold, I will give Pharaohhophra 02:02 king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, 02:05 and into the hand of them that seek his life, 02:08 as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah 02:11 into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar 02:13 king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life." 02:18 Continuing in Jeremiah Chapter 45, 02:21 this is the King James Version. 02:24 "The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto Baruch 02:28 the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book 02:31 at the mouth of Jeremiah, 02:33 in the fourth year of Jehoiakim 02:34 the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying. 02:37 Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, 02:39 unto thee, O Baruch. 02:41 Thou did say, woe is me now, 02:43 for the Lord hath added grief to my sorrow, 02:46 I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest. 02:49 Thus shalt thou say unto him, the Lord saith thus, behold, 02:54 that which I have built will I break down, 02:58 and that which I have planted I will pluck up, 03:00 even this whole land. 03:01 And seekest thou great things for thyself? 03:05 For, Behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, 03:07 saith the Lord, but thy life will I give unto thee 03:11 for a pray in all places whither thou goest." 03:15 Continuing in Jeremiah Chapter 46, 03:18 this is the Kings James Version. 03:20 "The word of the Lord which came to Jeremiah 03:22 the prophet against the Gentiles, 03:25 against Egypt, against the army 03:27 of Pharaohnecho king of Egypt, 03:28 which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, 03:32 which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon 03:34 smote in the fourth year of Jehoiakim 03:36 the son of Josiah king of Judah. 03:39 Order ye the buckler and shield, 03:41 and draw near to battle. 03:43 Harness the horses, and get up, ye horsemen, 03:46 and stand forth with your helmets, 03:48 furbish the spears, and put on the brigandines. 03:51 Wherefore have I seen them dismayed 03:53 and turned away back? 03:55 And their mighty ones are beaten down, 03:57 and are fled apace, and look not back, 03:59 for fear was round about, saith the Lord. 04:03 Let not the swift flee away, 04:05 nor the mighty man escape they shall stumble, 04:08 and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates. 04:12 Who is this that cometh up as a flood, 04:14 whose waters are moved as the rivers? 04:17 Egypt riseth up like a flood, 04:18 and his waters are moved like the rivers, 04:20 and he saith I will go up, 04:22 and will cover the earth I will destroy the city 04:24 and the inhabitants thereof. 04:26 Come up, ye horses, and rage, ye chariots, 04:29 and let the mighty men come forth, 04:31 the Ethiopians and the Libyans, 04:33 that handle the shield, and the Lydians, 04:35 that handle and bend the bow. 04:38 For this is the day of the Lord God of hosts, 04:41 a day of vengeance, 04:42 that he may avenge him of his adversaries. 04:45 And the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate 04:48 and made drunk with their blood, 04:50 for the Lord God of hosts 04:52 hath a sacrifice in the north country 04:54 by the river Euphrates. 04:56 Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, 04:59 the daughter of Egypt, 05:00 in vain shalt thou use many medicines, 05:03 for thou shalt not be cured. 05:06 The nations have heard of thy shame, 05:07 and thy cry hath filled the land, 05:10 for the mighty man hath stumbled against the mighty, 05:12 and they are fallen both together. 05:16 The word that the Lord spake to Jeremiah the prophet, 05:19 how Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon should come 05:22 and smite the land of Egypt. 05:25 Declare ye in Egypt, and publish in Migdol, 05:27 and publish in Noph and in Tahpanhes. 05:30 Say ye, Stand fast, and prepare thee, 05:33 for the sword shall devour round about thee. 05:36 Why are thy valiant men swept away? 05:39 They stood not, because the Lord did drive them. 05:43 He made many to fall, yea, one fell upon another, 05:46 and they said, Arise, and let us go again 05:48 to our own people, and to the land of our nativity, 05:51 from the oppressing sword. 05:53 They did cry there, Pharaoh King of Egypt is but a noise, 05:57 he hath passed the time appointed. 06:00 As I live, saith the King, 06:03 whose name is the Lord of hosts, 06:05 Surely as Tabor is among the mountains, 06:08 and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come. 06:12 O thou daughter dwelling in Egypt, 06:14 furnish thyself to go into captivity, 06:18 for Noph shall be waste 06:19 and desolate without an inhabitant. 06:22 Egypt is like a very fair heifer, 06:24 but destruction cometh, it cometh out of the north. 06:29 Also her hired men are in the midst of her 06:31 like fatted bullocks, for they also are turned back, 06:34 and are fled away together, they did not stand, because 06:37 the day of their calamity was come upon them, 06:39 and the time of their visitation. 06:42 The voice thereof shall go like a serpent, 06:44 for they shall march with an army, 06:45 and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood. 06:49 They shall cut down her forest, 06:50 saith the Lord, though it cannot be searched, 06:53 because they are more than the grasshoppers, 06:54 and are innumerable. 06:57 The daughter of Egypt shall be confounded, 06:59 she shall be delivered 07:00 into the hand of the people of the north. 07:03 The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, 07:05 saith, Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, 07:09 and Pharaoh, and Egypt, 07:10 with their gods, and their kings, 07:12 even Pharaoh, and all them that trust in him. 07:15 And I will deliver them into the hand of those 07:17 that seek their lives, 07:19 and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar 07:21 king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants, 07:23 and afterward it shall be inhabited, 07:26 as in the days of old, saith the Lord. 07:29 But fear not thou, O my servant Jacob, 07:32 and be not dismayed, O Israel, for, Behold, 07:34 I will save thee from afar off, 07:37 and thy seed from the land of their captivity, 07:40 and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, 07:44 and none shall make him afraid. 07:47 Fear thou not, O Jacob my servant, 07:50 saith the Lord, for I am with thee, 07:53 for I will make a full end of all the nations 07:56 whither I have driven thee, 07:57 but I will not make a full end of thee, 08:00 but correct thee in measure, 08:02 yet will I not leave thee wholly unpunished." 08:07 Continuing in Jeremiah Chapter 47 08:09 and this is the Kings James Version. 08:12 "The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah 08:14 the prophet against the Philistines, 08:16 before that Pharaoh smote Gaza. 08:19 Thus saith the Lord, Behold, 08:21 waters rise up out of the north, 08:23 and shall be an overflowing flood, 08:25 and shall overflow the land, and all that is therein, 08:28 the city, and them that dwell therein, 08:32 then the men shall cry, 08:33 and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl. 08:35 At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs 08:37 of his strong horses, at the rushing of his chariots, 08:40 and at the rumbling of his wheels, 08:42 the fathers shall not look back 08:44 to their children for feebleness of hands. 08:47 Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines, 08:51 and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon 08:53 every helper that remaineth, 08:56 for the Lord will spoil the Philistines, 08:58 the remnant of the country of Caphtor. 09:02 Baldness is come upon Gaza, 09:05 Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley, 09:07 how long wilt thou cut thyself? 09:10 O thou sword of the Lord, 09:11 how long will it be ere thou be quiet? 09:15 Put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still. 09:19 How can it be quiet, seeing the Lord 09:21 hath given it a charge against Ashkelon, 09:23 and against the sea shore? 09:25 There hath he appointed it." 09:28 Continuing in Jeremiah Chapter 48 09:31 this is the Kings James Version. 09:34 "Against Moab thus saith the Lord of hosts, 09:36 the God of Israel, woe, unto Nebo for it is spoiled, 09:41 Kiriathaim is confounded and taken, 09:44 Misgab is confounded and dismayed. 09:48 There shall be no more praise of Moab, 09:51 in Heshbon they have devised evil against it, 09:53 come, and let us cut it off from being a nation. 09:56 Also thou shalt be cut down, O Madmen, 09:59 the sword shall pursue thee. 10:01 A voice of crying shall be from Horonaim, 10:05 spoiling and great destruction. 10:07 Moab is destroyed, her little ones 10:09 have caused a cry to be heard. 10:11 For in the going up of Luhith continual weeping shall go up, 10:15 for in the going down of Horonaim 10:17 the enemies have heard a cry of destruction. 10:20 Flee, save your lives, 10:21 and be like the heath in the wilderness. 10:24 For because thou hast trusted in thy works 10:28 and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken, 10:32 and Chemosh shall go forth 10:33 into captivity with his priests 10:35 and his princes together. 10:37 And the spoiler shall come upon every city, 10:40 and no city shall escape, the valley also shall perish, 10:44 and the plain shall be destroyed, 10:45 as the Lord hath spoken. 10:48 Give wings unto Moab, that it may flee and get away, 10:51 for the cities thereof shall be desolate, 10:53 without any to dwell therein. 10:56 Cursed be he that doeth 10:57 the work of the Lord deceitfully, 10:59 and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood. 11:03 Moab hath been at ease from his youth, 11:06 and he hath settled on his lees, 11:08 and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, 11:11 neither hath he gone into captivity, 11:13 therefore his taste remained in him, 11:15 and his scent is not changed. 11:18 Therefore, Behold, the days come, 11:20 saith the Lord, that I will send unto him wanderers, 11:24 that shall cause him to wander, 11:26 and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles. 11:28 And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, 11:31 as the house of Israel 11:32 was ashamed of Bethel their confidence. 11:36 How say ye, we are mighty and strong men for the war? 11:40 Moab is spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, 11:43 and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, 11:45 saith the King, whose name is the Lord of hosts. 11:49 The calamity of Moab is near to come, 11:52 and his affliction hasteth fast. 11:55 All ye that are about him, bemoan him, 11:58 and all ye that know his name, say, 12:00 How is the strong staff broken, 12:02 and the beautiful rod. 12:04 Thou daughter that dost inhabit Dibon, 12:06 come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst, 12:09 for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon thee, 12:12 and he shall destroy thy strong holds. 12:16 O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and espy, 12:20 ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth, 12:23 and say, What is done? 12:25 Moab is confounded, for it is broken down, 12:29 howl and cry, tell ye it in Arnon, 12:33 that Moab is spoiled, 12:35 and judgment is come upon the plain country, 12:38 upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath, 12:43 and upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, 12:45 and upon Bethdiblathaim, and upon Kiriathaim, 12:49 and upon Bethgamul, and upon Bethmeon, 12:52 and upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, 12:54 and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near. 12:58 The horn of Moab is cut off, 13:00 and his arm is broken, saith the Lord. 13:03 Make ye him drunken, for he magnified himself 13:07 against the Lord, Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, 13:11 and he also shall be in derision. 13:13 For was not Israel a derision unto thee? 13:16 Was he found among thieves? 13:18 For since thou spakest of him thou skippedst for joy. 13:22 O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, 13:25 and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove 13:27 that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole's mouth. 13:30 We have heard the pride of Moab, 13:33 he is exceeding proud his loftiness, 13:36 and his arrogancy, and his pride, 13:38 and the haughtiness of his heart. 13:41 I know his wrath, saith the Lord, 13:43 but it shall not be so, 13:45 his lies shall not so effect it. 13:48 Therefore will I howl for Moab, 13:50 and I will cry out for all Moab, 13:53 mine heart shall mourn for the men of Kirheres. 13:57 O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee 14:00 with the weeping of Jazer, 14:02 thy plants are gone over the sea, 14:04 they reach even to the sea of Jazer, 14:05 the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits 14:08 and upon thy vintage. 14:10 And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, 14:13 and from the land of Moab, 14:15 and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses, 14:19 none shall tread with shouting, 14:21 their shouting shall be no shouting. 14:23 From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, 14:26 and even unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, 14:29 from Zoar even unto Horonaim, 14:31 as an heifer of three years old, 14:33 for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate." 14:38 Please join me again next time 14:39 to read the word of God together. 14:40 Good bye. |
