00:14 Hi, and welcome back to His Words Are Life,
00:17 I'm Kelly Mowrer and today we're be reading 00:19 in the book of Daniel together but first lets pray, 00:23 Dear Heavenly Father thank you so much 00:26 for this opportunity to read theses stories 00:29 that show us so much of your greatness please ah, 00:34 quiet our minds to any distractions right now 00:37 and maybe see your glory in the name of Jesus. Amen. 00:42 We're coming to the end of the story 00:46 in Daniel Chapter 4 00:49 as narrated by King of Nebuchadnezzar 00:51 he is telling about how he became as a beast of the field 00:56 because he had setting his heart 00:58 that Babylon was a kingdom that he have made 01:00 and the God of heaven humbled him 01:03 and at the end of that at the conclusion 01:05 that Nebuchadnezzar recognizes the most high God 01:10 as a creator of everything and the giver of kingdoms. 01:14 We're picking up in the middle of Nebuchadnezzar's 01:18 final declaration of understanding 01:21 beginning in Daniel 4 with verse 35 01:25 and this is a King James Version. 01:29 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed 01:32 as nothing, and he doeth according to his will 01:37 in the army of heaven, 01:38 and among the inhabitants of the earth, 01:40 and none can stay his hand, 01:42 or say unto him, What doest thou? 01:46 At the same time my reason returned unto me, 01:50 and for the glory of my kingdom, 01:51 mine honour and brightness returned unto me, 01:54 and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me, 01:58 and I was established in my kingdom, 02:01 and excellent majesty was added unto me. 02:05 Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol 02:09 and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, 02:13 and his ways judgment, 02:15 and those that walk in pride he is able to abase. 02:21 Continuing with Daniel Chapter 5 02:23 and this is the King James Version. 02:26 Belshazzar the king made a great feast 02:30 to a thousand of his lords, 02:33 and drank wine before the thousand. 02:35 Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, 02:38 commanded to bring the golden 02:40 and silver vessels which his father 02:42 Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple 02:45 which was in Jerusalem, 02:47 that the king, and his princes, 02:48 his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein. 02:52 Then they brought the golden vessels 02:53 that were taken out of the temple 02:55 of the house of God which was at Jerusalem, 02:58 and the king, and his princes, 03:00 his wives, and his concubines, drank in them. 03:04 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, 03:07 and of silver, of brass, 03:10 of iron, of wood, and of stone. 03:12 In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, 03:17 and wrote over against the candlestick 03:19 upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace, 03:23 and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. 03:28 Then the king's countenance was changed, 03:30 and his thoughts troubled him, 03:31 so that the joints of his loins were loosed, 03:34 and his knees smote one against another. 03:37 The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, 03:40 the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. 03:42 And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, 03:44 Whosoever shall read this writing, 03:46 and shew me the interpretation thereof, 03:48 shall be clothed with scarlet, 03:49 and have a chain of gold about his neck, 03:50 and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom. 03:54 Then came in all the king's wise men, 03:56 but they could not read the writing, 03:58 nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof. 04:02 Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, 04:05 and his countenance was changed in him, 04:08 and his lords were astonied. 04:11 Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king 04:14 and his lords, came into the banquet house, 04:17 and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever, 04:20 let not thy thoughts trouble thee, 04:22 nor let thy countenance be changed. 04:25 There is a man in thy kingdom, 04:27 in whom is the spirit of the holy gods, 04:30 and in the days of thy father light 04:32 and understanding and wisdom, 04:34 like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him, 04:37 whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, 04:39 the king, I say, thy father, 04:40 made master of the magicians, 04:42 astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers. 04:45 For as much as an excellent spirit, 04:48 and knowledge, and understanding, 04:50 interpreting of dreams, 04:52 and shewing of hard sentences, 04:54 and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, 04:58 whom the king named Belteshazzar, 05:01 now let Daniel be called, 05:02 and he will shew the interpretation. 05:05 Then was Daniel brought in before the king. 05:08 And the king spake and said unto Daniel, 05:10 Art thou that Daniel, 05:12 which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, 05:14 whom the king my father brought out of Jewry? 05:17 I have even heard of thee, 05:18 that the spirit of the gods is in thee, 05:20 and that light and understanding 05:21 and excellent wisdom is found in thee. 05:24 And now the wise men, the astrologers, 05:26 have been brought in before me, 05:28 that they should read this writing, 05:29 and make known unto me the interpretation thereof, 05:32 but they could not show the interpretation 05:33 of the thing, And I have heard of thee, 05:36 that thou canst make interpretations, 05:39 and dissolve doubts, 05:41 now if thou canst read the writing, 05:43 and make known to me the interpretation thereof, 05:46 thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, 05:49 and have a chain of gold about thy neck, 05:51 and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom. 05:55 Then Daniel answered and said before the king, 05:58 Let thy gifts be to thyself, 06:00 and give thy rewards to another, 06:03 yet I will read the writing unto the king, 06:06 and make known to him the interpretation. 06:09 O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar 06:14 thy father a kingdom, and majesty, 06:17 and glory, and honour, 06:19 And for the majesty that he gave him, 06:21 all people, nations, and languages, 06:23 trembled and feared before him, 06:26 whom he would he slew, 06:28 and whom he would he kept alive, 06:30 and whom he would he set up, 06:32 and whom he would he put down. 06:35 But when his heart was lifted up, 06:37 and his mind hardened in pride, 06:41 he was deposed from his kingly throne, 06:44 and they took his glory from him. 06:46 And he was driven from the sons of men, 06:48 and his heart was made like the beasts, 06:50 and his dwelling was with the wild asses, 06:53 they fed him with grass like oxen, 06:55 and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, 06:58 till he knew that the most high God 07:01 ruled in the kingdom of men, 07:03 and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will. 07:07 And thou his son, O Belshazzar, 07:10 hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this. 07:15 But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven, 07:19 and they have brought the vessels of his house 07:21 before thee, and thou, and thy lords, 07:23 thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them, 07:28 and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, 07:31 of brass, iron, wood, and stone, 07:34 which see not, nor hear, nor know, 07:39 and the God in whose hand thy breath is, 07:44 and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified. 07:50 Then was the part of the hand sent from him, 07:54 and this writing was written. 07:57 And this is the writing that was written, 08:00 mene, mene, tekel, upharsin. 08:05 This is the interpretation of the thing, mene, 08:08 God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. 08:12 tekel, Thou art weighed in the balances, 08:16 and art found wanting. 08:19 peres, Thy kingdom is divided, 08:23 and given to the Medes and Persians. 08:27 Then commanded Belshazzar, 08:28 and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, 08:30 and put a chain of gold about his neck, 08:32 and made a proclamation concerning him, 08:34 that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom. 08:38 In that night was Belshazzar 08:40 the king of the Chaldeans slain. 08:43 And Darius the Median took the kingdom, 08:47 being about threescore and two years old. 08:51 Continuing in Daniel Chapter 6 08:53 this is the King James Version. 08:56 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred 09:00 and twenty princes, which should be over 09:03 the whole kingdom, And over these three presidents, 09:07 of whom Daniel was first, 09:09 that the princes might give accounts unto them, 09:13 and the king should have no damage. 09:16 Then this Daniel was preferred 09:18 above the presidents and princes, 09:20 because an excellent spirit was in him, 09:23 and the king thought to set him over the whole realm. 09:27 Then the presidents and princes 09:29 sought to find occasion against Daniel 09:32 concerning the kingdom, 09:34 but they could find none occasion nor fault, 09:37 forasmuch as he was faithful, 09:39 neither was there any error or fault found in him. 09:43 Then said these men, 09:45 We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, 09:48 except we find it against him 09:51 concerning the law of his God. 09:54 Then these presidents and princes 09:56 assembled together to the king, 09:58 and said thus unto him, 10:02 King Darius, live for ever. 10:04 All the presidents of the kingdom, 10:07 the governors, and the princes, 10:09 the counsellors, and the captains, 10:10 have consulted together to establish a royal statute, 10:14 and to make a firm decree, 10:17 that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God 10:21 or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, 10:25 he shall be cast into the den of lions. 10:28 Now, O king, establish the decree, 10:31 and sign the writing, that it be not changed, 10:34 according to the law of the Medes 10:36 and Persians, which altereth not. 10:40 Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree. 10:45 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, 10:49 he went into his house, 10:51 and his windows being open 10:53 in his chamber toward Jerusalem, 10:55 he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, 10:58 and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, 11:03 as he did aforetime. 11:05 Then these men assembled, 11:07 and found Daniel praying 11:08 and making supplication before his God. 11:11 Then they came near, 11:12 and spake before the king concerning the king's decree, 11:17 Hast thou not signed a decree, 11:19 that every man that shall ask a petition of any God 11:22 or man within thirty days, save of thee, 11:25 O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? 11:28 The king answered and said, 11:30 The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes 11:32 and Persians, which altereth not. 11:35 Then answered they and said before the king, 11:38 That Daniel, which is of the children 11:41 of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not the, 11:44 O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, 11:47 but maketh his petition three times a day. 11:52 Then the king, when he heard these words, 11:54 was sore displeased with himself, 11:57 and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him, 12:02 and he laboured till the going down 12:04 of the sun to deliver him. 12:08 Then these men assembled unto the king, 12:10 and said unto the king, Know, 12:12 O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, 12:16 That no decree nor statute which the king 12:19 establisheth may be changed. 12:23 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, 12:26 and cast him into the den of lions. 12:29 Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, 12:32 Thy God whom thou servest continually, 12:36 he will deliver thee. 12:39 And a stone was brought, 12:40 and laid upon the mouth of the den, 12:43 and the king sealed it with his own signet, 12:45 and with the signet of his lords, 12:48 that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel. 12:52 Then the king went to his palace, 12:54 and passed the night fasting, 12:58 neither were instruments of musick brought before him, 13:00 and his sleep went from him. 13:04 Then the king arose very early in the morning, 13:06 and went in haste unto the den of lions. 13:09 And when he came to the den, 13:11 he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel, 13:14 and the king spake and said to Daniel, 13:16 O Daniel, servant of the living God, 13:19 is thy God, whom thou servest continually, 13:23 able to deliver thee from the lions? 13:27 Then said Daniel unto the king, 13:28 O king, live for ever. 13:30 My God hath sent his angel, 13:33 and hath shut the lions' mouths, 13:35 that they have not hurt me, 13:36 forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me, 13:40 and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. 13:45 Then was the king exceeding glad for him, 13:48 and commanded that they should 13:49 take Daniel up out of the den. 13:52 So Daniel was taken up out of the den, 13:54 and no manner of hurt was found upon him, 13:58 because he believed in his God. 14:02 And the king commanded, 14:03 and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, 14:07 and they cast them into the den of lions, 14:09 them, their children, and their wives, 14:11 and the lions had the mastery of them, 14:14 and brake all their bones in pieces 14:16 or ever they came at the bottom of the den. 14:19 Then king Darius wrote unto all people, 14:23 nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth, 14:26 Peace be multiplied unto you. 14:29 I make a decree, 14:31 That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble 14:35 and fear before the God of Daniel. |
