00:15 Hello and welcome to His Words Are Life.
00:18 I'm Kelly Mowrer and today we're going to finish off 00:21 the Book of Hosea and move on to the Book of Joel. 00:24 But lets pray before we start. 00:27 Dear Heavenly father, thank you so much 00:30 that you are a God of Mercy and letting reading these 00:34 words from centuries ago we see how you plead with us 00:38 and how you long to forgive us and heal us, 00:41 we come to you now and ask you to be with us 00:44 as we read your word, in the name of Jesus. Amen. 00:48 Starting in Hosea, Chapter 14 with verse 4 00:54 and this is the King James Version. 00:57 I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, 01:02 for mine anger is turned away from him. 01:06 I will be as the dew unto Israel, 01:10 he shall grow as the lily, 01:12 and cast forth his roots as Lebanon. 01:15 His branches shall spread, 01:17 and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, 01:19 and his smell as Lebanon. 01:22 They that dwell under his shadow shall return, 01:26 they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine, 01:30 the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon. 01:34 Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? 01:40 I have heard him, and observed him, 01:42 I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found. 01:48 Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? 01:52 prudent, and he shall know them? 01:55 for the ways of the LORD are right, 01:58 and the just shall walk in them, 02:01 but the transgressors shall fall therein. 02:06 Moving on now to the Book of Joel, 02:08 Chapter one and this is the King James Verison. 02:13 The word of the LORD that came to Joel the son of Pethuel. 02:18 Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, 02:21 all ye inhabitants of the land. 02:24 Hath this been in your days, 02:26 or even in the days of your fathers? 02:28 Tell ye your children of it, 02:30 and let your children tell their children, 02:32 and their children another generation. 02:34 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten, 02:39 and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten 02:43 and that which the cankerworm hath left 02:45 hath the caterpiller eaten. 02:46 Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, 02:49 all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine, 02:52 for it is cut off from your mouth. 02:55 For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, 02:58 and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, 03:03 and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion. 03:06 He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree, 03:10 he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away, 03:14 the branches thereof are made white. 03:17 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth 03:21 for the husband of her youth. 03:23 The meat offering and the drink offering 03:25 is cut off from the house of the LORD, 03:27 the priests, the LORD's ministers, mourn. 03:31 The field is wasted, the land mourneth, 03:34 for the corn is wasted, the new wine is dried up, 03:36 the oil languisheth. Be ye ashamed, 03:40 O ye husbandmen, howl, O ye vinedressers, 03:43 for the wheat and for the barley, 03:45 because the harvest of the field is perished. 03:49 The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth, 03:53 the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, 03:56 and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, 03:59 are withered, because joy is withered 04:02 away from the sons of men. 04:05 Gird yourselves, and lament, 04:08 ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: 04:12 come, lie all night in sackcloth, 04:14 ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering 04:18 and the drink offering is withholden 04:20 from the house of your God. 04:22 Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, 04:27 gather the elders and all the inhabitants 04:29 of the land into the house of the LORD 04:31 your God, and cry unto the LORD, 04:34 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, 04:39 and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. 04:44 Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, 04:47 yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God? 04:50 The seed is rotten under their clods, 04:53 the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; 04:56 for the corn is withered. 04:59 How do the beasts groan! 05:01 the herds of cattle are perplexed, 05:03 because they have no pasture; yea, 05:06 the flocks of sheep are made desolate. 05:08 O LORD, to thee will I cry: 05:12 for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, 05:16 and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field. 05:19 The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: 05:21 for the rivers of waters are dried up, 05:23 and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness. 05:29 Continuing with Joel, Chapter 2 05:31 and this is the King James Version. 05:34 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, 05:37 and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: 05:40 let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: 05:43 for the day of the LORD cometh, 05:45 for it is nigh at hand; 05:47 A day of darkness and of gloominess, 05:49 a day of clouds and of thick darkness, 05:52 as the morning spread upon the mountains: 05:54 a great people and a strong; 05:57 there hath not been ever the like, 05:59 neither shall be any more after it, 06:00 even to the years of many generations. 06:03 A fire devoureth before them; 06:06 and behind them a flame burneth: 06:08 the land is as the garden of Eden before them, 06:11 and behind them a desolate wilderness; 06:13 yea, and nothing shall escape them. 06:17 The appearance of them 06:18 is as the appearance of horses; 06:20 and as horsemen, so shall they run. 06:23 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains 06:26 shall they leap, like the noise 06:27 of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, 06:30 as a strong people set in battle array. 06:34 Before their face the people shall be much pained: 06:37 all faces shall gather blackness. 06:40 They shall run like mighty men; 06:42 they shall climb the wall like men of war; 06:44 and they shall march every one on his ways, 06:46 and they shall not break their ranks: 06:49 Neither shall one thrust another; 06:50 they shall walk every one in his path: 06:52 and when they fall upon the sword, 06:54 they shall not be wounded. 06:57 They shall run to and fro in the city; 06:59 they shall run upon the wall, 07:00 they shall climb up upon the houses; 07:02 they shall enter in at the windows like a thief. 07:05 The earth shall quake before them; 07:07 the heavens shall tremble: 07:08 the sun and the moon shall be dark, 07:10 and the stars shall withdraw their shining: 07:13 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: 07:16 for his camp is very great: 07:18 for he is strong that executeth his word: 07:21 for the day of the LORD is great 07:23 and very terrible; and who can abide it? 07:27 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, 07:29 turn ye even to me with all your heart, 07:34 and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: 07:38 And rend your heart, and not your garments, 07:40 and turn unto the LORD your God: 07:43 for he is gracious and merciful, 07:47 slow to anger, and of great kindness, 07:51 and repenteth him of the evil. 07:53 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, 07:55 and leave a blessing behind him; 07:57 even a meat offering and a drink offering 08:00 unto the LORD your God? 08:01 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, 08:05 call a solemn assembly: Gather the people, 08:08 sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, 08:10 gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: 08:13 let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, 08:15 and the bride out of her closet. 08:17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, 08:20 weep between the porch and the altar, 08:21 and let them say, Spare thy people, 08:24 O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, 08:27 that the heathen should rule over them: 08:29 wherefore should they say among the people, 08:31 Where is their God? 08:33 Then will the LORD be jealous 08:35 for his land, and pity his people. 08:38 Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, 08:41 Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, 08:45 and ye shall be satisfied therewith: 08:47 and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen: 08:51 But I will remove far off from you the northern army, 08:56 and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, 08:59 with his face toward the east sea, 09:01 and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, 09:03 and his stink shall come up, 09:05 and his ill savour shall come up, 09:07 because he hath done great things. 09:09 Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: 09:14 for the LORD will do great things. 09:17 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: 09:19 for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, 09:22 for the tree beareth her fruit, 09:24 the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength. 09:26 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, 09:29 and rejoice in the LORD your God: 09:32 for he hath given you the former rain moderately, 09:36 and he will cause to come down for you the rain, 09:39 the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. 09:43 And the floors shall be full of wheat, 09:46 and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil. 09:49 And I will restore to you the years 09:52 that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, 09:56 and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, 09:59 my great army which I sent among you. 10:03 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, 10:07 and praise the name of the LORD your God, 10:09 that hath dealt wondrously with you: 10:12 and my people shall never be ashamed. 10:16 And ye shall know 10:18 that I am in the midst of Israel, 10:19 and that I am the LORD your God, 10:21 and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. 10:26 And it shall come to pass afterward, 10:28 that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; 10:32 and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, 10:35 your old men shall dream dreams, 10:37 your young men shall see visions: 10:40 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids 10:42 in those days will I pour out my spirit. 10:45 And I will shew wonders in the heavens 10:47 and in the earth, blood, and fire, 10:49 and pillars of smoke. 10:51 The sun shall be turned into darkness, 10:53 and the moon into blood, before the great 10:56 and terrible day of the LORD come. 10:59 And it shall come to pass, 11:00 that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD 11:04 shall be delivered: for in mount Zion 11:08 and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, 11:11 as the LORD hath said, 11:13 and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call. 11:17 Continuing with Joel, Chapter 3 11:20 this is the King James Version. 11:22 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, 11:26 when I shall bring again 11:28 the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, 11:30 I will also gather all nations, 11:32 and will bring them down 11:34 into the valley of Jehoshaphat, 11:35 and will plead with them there for my people 11:39 and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered 11:41 among the nations, and parted my land. 11:44 And they have cast lots for my people; 11:46 and have given a boy for an harlot, 11:47 and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink. 11:50 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, 11:51 and all the coasts of Palestine? 11:56 will ye render me a recompence? 11:58 and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily 12:01 will I return your recompence upon your own head; 12:04 Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, 12:06 and have carried into your temples 12:08 my goodly pleasant things: 12:11 The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem 12:13 have ye sold unto the Grecians, 12:16 that ye might remove them far from their border. 12:19 Behold, I will raise them out of the place 12:22 whither ye have sold them, 12:23 and will return your recompence upon your own head: 12:27 And I will sell your sons and your daughters 12:30 into the hand of the children of Judah, 12:32 and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, 12:34 to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it. 12:39 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; 12:41 Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, 12:44 let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: 12:47 Beat your plowshares into swords 12:49 and your pruninghooks into spears: 12:51 let the weak say, I am strong. 12:55 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, 12:57 and gather yourselves together round about: 13:00 thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD. 13:03 Let the heathen be wakened, 13:04 and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: 13:06 for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. 13:11 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: 13:14 come, get you down; for the press is full, 13:16 the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. 13:20 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: 13:24 for the day of the LORD is near 13:26 in the valley of decision. 13:28 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, 13:30 and the stars shall withdraw their shining. 13:34 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, 13:36 and utter his voice from Jerusalem; 13:39 and the heavens and the earth shall shake: 13:42 but the LORD will be the hope of his people, 13:46 and the strength of the children of Israel. 13:49 So shall ye know that I am the LORD 13:52 your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: 13:56 then shall Jerusalem be holy, 13:58 and there shall no strangers pass through her any more. 14:02 And it shall come to pass in that day, 14:04 that the mountains shall drop down new wine, 14:07 and the hills shall flow with milk, 14:09 and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, 14:12 and a fountain shall come forth out of the house 14:14 of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim. 14:19 Egypt shall be a desolation, 14:21 and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, 14:24 for the violence against the children of Judah, 14:27 because they have shed innocent blood in their land. 14:30 But Judah shall dwell for ever, 14:32 and Jerusalem from generation to generation. |
