00:21 I'm John Bradshaw. Thanks for joining me. 00:23 This is part 3 of our five-part series, 00:26 "Conspiracy, More Than Just a Theory." 00:29 There is a massive conspiracy playing out in the world today. 00:33 Its effects are being felt right around the globe. 00:36 It's spoken of in the Bible, and it affects every last one of us. 00:41 ♪[Orchestral music rises and subsides]♪ 00:57 There are a lot of conspiracy theories today, 01:01 and one in particular has gained a great amount of traction 01:04 over the last several decades. 01:06 It centers in a very isolated location, 01:10 said to be a hotbed of paranormal activity. 01:14 It's one of the most secretive, 01:16 one of the most mysterious places 01:18 in all of the United States-- 01:20 it could easily be said, in all of the world. 01:24 And the secrecy which enshrouds this place has given rise 01:28 to one of the biggest conspiracy theories you will ever hear. 01:33 About 80 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada, 01:37 is a place the L.A. Times referred to as 01:40 "the holy grail for conspiracy theorists," 01:43 a US Air Force military installation. 01:46 It's a real location, and it's a busy place. 01:51 Things happen here. 01:52 Exactly what isn't really known. 01:57 In 1955, the site was selected for testing the U-2 spy plane, 02:03 and since then many other aircraft have been tested here. 02:06 The A-12, which could travel at 2,000 miles an hour 02:10 and take clear pictures of things on the ground 02:13 from 90,000 feet. 02:15 Its successor, the SR-71 Blackbird, 02:18 was tested here as well, 02:20 as was the F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter. 02:25 Research, development, and testing are carried out here 02:28 at this very remote location 02:30 by the government of the United States. 02:33 There's a lot of security surrounding the area: 02:37 cameras, guards, barriers, and helicopter patrols. 02:43 Even though we have no intention of getting any closer 02:45 than we're allowed, 02:47 there's no doubt Uncle Sam knows we're here. 02:50 He does not want people getting too close. 02:53 ♪[Suspenseful music rises and ends]♪ 02:56 ♪[Mysterious, otherworldly music]♪ 03:06 A large amount of UFO sightings have been reported in the area. 03:10 Now, many of these have been explained 03:12 by those who do the explaining as aircraft flights. 03:16 The U-2 spy plane was tested, apparently, at Area 51, 03:20 flies much, much higher than conventional aircraft, 03:24 and so that was given as a reason 03:25 for some of the strange things seen in the sky. 03:28 Visitors come here from all around the world, 03:30 but at the end of the day, 03:32 on Area 51 there is a military installation. 03:36 What takes place there is highly secretive 03:39 and under a blanket of immense security, 03:42 much like many other military installations around the world. 03:46 In fact, the US government only acknowledged officially 03:49 the existence of a base at Area 51 for the first time 03:53 just a few years ago. 03:55 It's that kind of secrecy that has led many people to speculate 03:59 that there has to be more going on at Area 51 04:04 than simply mundane, everyday military operations. 04:09 It has been claimed that the United States government 04:11 keeps aliens or the remains of aliens at Area 51. 04:16 The legend goes that late at night on the 4th of July, 1947, 04:21 a UFO crashed near Roswell, New Mexico, 04:25 and that the remains of that crash, 04:27 the UFO and its occupants, were brought to Area 51. 04:32 ♪[Eerie music]♪ 04:35 The main runway is 4 1/2 miles long--long for a runway. 04:39 Janet flights come and go from here, 04:42 shuttling workers between the military installation 04:44 and various locations. 04:50 So the question that gets asked is this: 04:53 How much of this is simply the world's last remaining 04:56 superpower doing what it needs to do to maintain and develop 05:00 its military capability, and how much of this is a coverup, 05:04 a conspiracy, a concerted effort on the part of those in power 05:09 to keep the truth about aliens and flying saucers 05:12 from the people? 05:12 ♪[Music]♪ 05:13 I wanted to ask someone with a unique understanding 05:16 of the area. 05:17 Pat Travis owns Little A'Le'Inn, a diner and watering hole 05:23 that's been here in Rachel, Nevada, for years. 05:26 Pat knows the area as well as pretty much anyone, 05:30 and she's seen a lot of people come and go in their pursuit 05:33 for the truth about Area 51. 05:37 How did this whole Area 51 thing get started? 05:41 >>Pat Travis: Well, that started a long time ago. 05:43 But they have been able to test all kinds of things. 05:47 The stealth was proved from there. 05:49 And if the world had known what the stealth could do 05:53 when it went on its first mission, 05:55 we would not have accomplished what we did. 05:57 I'm proud to be part of the secrecy that's there. 06:01 So many things have been developed there. 06:03 Probably by the time we knew about the stealth, 06:06 it's probably old. 06:08 That's what I can say. [Laughs] 06:10 >>John: Do you think that explains much 06:14 of what people consider to be the, the interesting phenomena? 06:17 >>Pat: Um, testing, yes. 06:20 No, I believe that we work side by side with aliens. 06:25 Can I prove it to you? No. But I have that feeling. 06:29 >>John: Now, people come here from all around the world 06:30 hoping to see lights in the sky and objects up there. 06:33 Do the locals see odd things flying around? 06:35 >>Pat: We have all seen a few strange things. 06:39 One of my employees and I actually were sitting outside 06:42 early one morning drinking coffee, 06:44 and we saw something we could not explain in the sky, 06:48 and that was in the morning. 06:50 So, I have no idea what they're testing. 06:55 You know, maybe what I saw a long time ago, 06:57 maybe it was a drone. 06:59 I have no idea, 07:00 but I know that there should not have been anything flying 07:03 in the area where there was something flying. 07:05 >>John: Can you describe what that was? 07:07 >>Pat: It was a saucer-shaped vehicle-- 07:09 that's the best I can say-- 07:11 in an area where they, there is no flying as a general. 07:15 But there was something there that night. 07:17 And my niece and I watched it do maneuvers for 20 minutes. 07:21 Can I prove it to you? No. We know where it was. 07:25 It was marked; there is a record of where the sighting was, 07:29 heighth, and so we could about judge how big it was. 07:33 >>John: I'm really interested in your perspective 07:35 because you live out here. 07:36 You, you, you're truly a local. 07:38 What do the locals think is happening over the hill 07:42 on, on the range? 07:43 What, what, if you hear-- 07:44 >>Pat: We do not discuss any of it. 07:47 Because it is a top security area. 07:51 And believe it or not, all of us that live here, 07:54 somebody may know something, but none of us discuss it at all. 08:00 Because if it was one of our neighbors, 08:03 and something was said wrong, 08:05 they could lose their job over just a slight-- 08:09 and it actually came really close to happening. 08:12 Someone told reporters that a man that used to live 08:15 in the double-wide house trailer that's right up here 08:18 worked in Area 51. 08:20 He was a truck driver. That's all he was. 08:24 But he came really close to losing 08:27 his entire security clearance because of what someone stated. 08:32 They reworked his entire security clearance. 08:35 And, you know, we try and keep our neighbors 08:39 in that secure place. 08:41 It's just like the security guards that are at the gate. 08:44 We ask people not to take their pictures, 08:47 not to do these things. 08:48 These are men and women that have a job to do. 08:53 Is it secure? 08:54 Yes. 08:54 Do they have to do this? 08:56 Definitely. 08:58 Because we probably don't want to know all the things 09:02 that go on out there, 09:03 and that would be my best estimation of that one. 09:07 >>John: Tell me something about the people that get attracted 09:09 to this area. 09:11 >>Pat: There are people from every country in the world. 09:14 Of course, you spoke to some people from Italy this morning. 09:17 If you look at the dollar bills on my ceiling, 09:20 you will see dollar bills that have been put up on my ceiling 09:23 from every country in the world. 09:26 And it's always fun to talk to some of them. 09:28 Language barriers, uh, you know what, 09:31 you can point to things. 09:33 They know what a cup of coffee is. 09:35 [Laughs] So we can get by. 09:37 >>John: So you're here in this area where they're, 09:40 essentially, on the "Extraterrestrial Highway," 09:42 and you see something; 09:43 what goes through your mind? 09:45 >>Pat: Nothing. [Laughs, sips coffee] 09:49 It's exciting... 09:51 when you see something that you can't explain. 09:54 But that's okay. 09:57 We wonder. 09:59 I wonder every day how did everything get created. 10:03 I wonder why I was brought here, 10:06 and why I feel compelled to be here, 10:09 why I get up every morning and I feel happy, 10:12 even if I know that something else-- 10:15 I have two employees out sick right now. 10:18 So somebody has to cover. 10:20 I don't have a problem doing that. 10:22 I love the people that I've employed over the years. 10:26 Some have been disasters; some have been absolutely awesome. 10:30 You know what? 11:47 Well, no, really you don't. 11:50 Or maybe you have just enough evidence 11:53 to keep the conspiracy theories alive and well. 11:57 But there's a real conspiracy that people are missing, 12:00 even though it's playing out right in front of our eyes. 12:04 [Jet rumbling] The tendency is to ignore it, 12:06 even though the signs, the phenomena are visible, 12:11 measurable, and verifiable. 12:15 To miss this one is to make a really big mistake. 12:18 ♪[Somber music]♪ 12:20 [Fire crackling and popping] 12:22 According to the Word of God, 12:24 there was rebellion long ago in heaven, of all places. 12:28 Lucifer, whose name means "light-bearer," 12:32 rebelled against God and wanted to receive worship. 12:35 Isaiah records that Lucifer said, 12:37 "I will be like the Most High," 12:39 or "I will make myself like the Most High." 12:42 Having led a third of heaven's angels in rebellion against God, 12:47 Satan, which means "adversary," 12:50 came to the earth and lied to Adam and Eve about God 12:54 and then led our first parents into sin. 12:57 Now, you'll notice that in the same chapter God intervened, 13:01 and He provided Adam and Eve with a way out of the mess 13:04 that they were in. 13:05 He provided them with the gift of repentance. 13:08 Genesis 3:15, 13:10 "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, 13:12 and between your seed and her Seed; 13:16 He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel." 13:20 In that verse, God promised that Jesus would come into the world. 13:25 Humanity could be saved-- remember, saved from itself, 13:30 saved from the result of its own, well, of our own rebellion. 13:35 Adam and Eve chose to rebel against God, 13:37 and God Himself stepped in to say, 13:40 "I want to give the human family a way out of this." 13:44 And think of what that way out was. 13:47 It was that which was agreed upon 13:48 in the "counsel of peace" Zechariah wrote about. 13:51 Jesus would die for the sins of the world. 13:57 So now the devil realizes that victory isn't assured. 14:02 His goal is to ruin humanity. 14:04 If he is to lose, 14:06 then he'd do everything he could to cause everyone to lose. 14:09 And he set out to bring as much pain as he could 14:12 to the heart of God. 14:14 So what has happened since that time 14:16 is all part of the devil's campaign to ruin the world 14:19 and drag humanity to the lowest depths possible. 14:24 Let's think about where we are today as a world. 14:27 The internet is awash with sin. 14:29 Think about the hatred in the world. 14:31 Why do you think it is that society is so divided 14:34 in many ways? 14:35 You would think that after being on the planet this long, 14:39 human beings would have figured out how to get along 14:41 with each other, how to bridge racial divides, 14:44 how to work for the good of a country 14:46 rather than for the good of a political party or a politician. 14:49 And yet well into the 21st century, 14:53 even though there's an undeniable amount of good 14:55 in the world, 14:56 there is a massive amount of dysfunction and hate and evil. 15:03 And that's because the devil has been goading people 15:06 to live selfishly and without reference to God. 15:10 It's a plan, a conspiracy, 15:14 a conspiracy to bring down the entire world. 15:18 [Ominous sounds] 15:20 And now with the internet, 15:21 the devil has what's probably his most effective tool ever. 15:25 There was a time when we thought television 15:27 was corrupting our minds. 15:28 Now we carry so much more than a television with us 15:31 wherever we go. 15:33 Even though you can watch this program on the internet, 15:36 the internet is a minefield. 15:38 What the devil is doing is making it as easy as possible 15:41 for you to be distracted from faith in God-- 15:43 as easy as possible and as accepted as possible. 15:48 And today it's entirely acceptable to be distracted 15:50 from faith. 15:51 Fewer people than ever are members of a church. 15:55 More people than ever claim no religious affiliation. 16:00 I'll give you one more rather unsavory example 16:02 of where we're going as a planet. 16:05 Pornography has shown itself to be absolutely ruinous. 16:09 Marriages are ruined. Minds are ruined. 16:12 Families are ruined. Reputations are ruined. 16:15 After 6,000 years of sin, 16:17 Satan has succeeded in bringing society to the place 16:22 where we promote this 16:24 and make celebrities of those who make it. 16:26 Freedom of speech? 16:28 Freedom of sin is more like it. 16:30 But keep in mind when someone is being tempted to click 16:33 on a link of that nature, 16:35 it's because there's a real devil trying to lure that person 16:38 into a real web of sin. 16:40 The stakes are not small. Just do whatever you want." 19:19 Now, that's rebellion. 19:21 Satan's rebellion in heaven resulted in one third 19:24 of the angels in heaven turning against God. 19:27 When he brought his rebellion here to the earth, 19:29 he tried to turn people away from God here as well. 19:33 But how do you do that? 19:35 Well, you have to turn them against the Word of God. 19:37 "God says it, but you don't have to take that seriously." 19:41 That's what he did in the Garden of Eden. 19:43 The Bible tells us that we are saved by grace through-- 19:47 through what? 19:47 Through faith. 19:49 And what is faith? 19:50 To put it simply, faith is believing the Word of God 19:54 and living according to the Word of God, 19:56 expecting God's Word to do what it says it will do. 19:59 That is faith. 20:01 So when Satan said to Eve, "Did God really mean what He said?" 20:04 he was encouraging her to manifest a lack of faith, 20:08 distrust in God's Word, rebellion against God's Word. 20:13 Think with me about what Jesus said in Matthew 19:17. 20:16 Speaking to a man we've come to know as the rich young ruler, 20:19 a man who asked Him what good thing he needed to do 20:22 in order to be saved, Jesus said, 20:25 "If you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." 20:29 In John 14:15, Jesus said, 20:31 "If you love me, keep my commandments." 20:35 Now, be careful here. 20:37 This isn't Jesus contradicting Paul. 20:39 Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, 20:42 in Christ alone. 20:44 No one is saved by obedience. 20:46 But God makes clear to us that the lives of saved people, 20:50 filled with the presence of Christ, 20:53 will be characterized by obedience. 20:56 When you come to faith in God, your desire is to obey God. 21:00 Satan knew that. 21:02 He also knew that if he could lead people into sin, 21:04 he'd be able to accomplish his aims. 21:08 But how do you lead people into sin 21:09 when the Bible so clearly warns us against sin? 21:13 Listen to Jesus and you notice a thread 21:15 running through His words. 21:17 John 15:10, 21:19 "If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, 21:22 just as I have kept my Father's commandments 21:25 and abide in His love." 21:28 John was more than clear in 1 John 2 and verse 3: 21:33 "And hereby we do know that we know Him, 21:36 if we keep His commandments." 21:39 Matthew 4:4 speaks to this. 21:41 After having been tempted to turn stones into bread, 21:44 a ravenously hungry Messiah turns to the devil and says, 21:48 "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, 21:51 but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'" 21:55 So Satan turned his attack to the Word of God. 22:00 Where's the respect for the Word of God today? 22:02 Well, it's in rapid decline. 22:04 In the late 19th century, modernism promoted the idea 22:07 that religious and moral principles should not be 22:11 the main influence in social progress. 22:14 God was left out of the equation altogether. 22:17 Charles Darwin claimed that human beings are the result 22:20 of natural selection and not the product of a Creator God. 22:26 See what's happening? 22:28 Between modernist thinkers and Charles Darwin, 22:31 God suddenly becomes unimportant to our origins 22:34 or to where we're going as a civilization. 22:37 We can get by without God, we're told. 22:40 The World Health Organization estimates that 125,000 abortions 22:44 are performed a day around the world. 22:47 Tens of thousands occur every month in the United States, 22:50 even though even atheists know that the Bible says, 22:53 "Thou shalt not kill." 22:55 God speaks, yet we seem to be able to say, 22:59 "I'm doing completely the opposite. 23:01 That doesn't apply to me." 23:03 Seems as though the devil has been highly successful 23:06 in causing people to think his thoughts. 23:11 Revelation 22:14, God says, 23:14 "Blessed are they that do His commandments, 23:16 that they may have right to the tree of life, 23:19 and may enter in through the gates into the city." 23:23 It's been hundreds of years since the Catholic Church 23:26 removed the commandment about worshiping idols 23:28 from its teachings and replaced the missing commandment 23:32 by dividing the commandment about coveting. 23:35 Rome was also responsible 23:36 for changing the weekly day of worship 23:38 from the seventh day of the week to the first. 23:41 God's commandments have been under attack historically, 23:45 and they still are today. 23:46 And this isn't like ignoring the speed limit or jaywalking. 23:49 "The wages of sin is death," Paul wrote. 23:54 It's serious. 23:56 But it's what Satan wants. 23:58 Isaiah wrote in Isaiah 59:2 that sin separates a person from God. 24:03 That's the aim; that's the agenda: 24:06 to separate people from God. 24:08 And if you could do that while convincing them it's harmless 24:11 or fashionable or that times have changed 24:14 or that the church is out of touch, 24:17 then you've just succeeded in justifying rebellion 24:20 against God. 24:22 But is it ever justified? 24:25 No, it's not. Not ever. 24:28 And is it ever wise? 24:29 Oh no, of course it isn't ever wise. 24:32 Is it ever necessary? 24:33 Oh no, it's not necessary. 24:36 What would make perfect sense is to read the Word of God and say, 24:40 "This is a God I can trust. 24:42 This is a Savior who died for me. 24:44 This is a Jesus who one day is coming back to take me 24:49 to be with Him in heaven." 24:50 Following God is the pathway to a glorious future, 24:55 a bright future, a happy future. 24:58 You can believe the propaganda, you can listen to the lies, 25:00 you can be caught up in the conspiracy, 25:03 or you can look into the face of Jesus and say, 25:06 "Now, that's Somebody that I can love." 25:12 >>Announcer: As we look around the world, 25:14 it appears this planet is spinning wildly out of control. 25:17 The world now is a far cry 25:19 from the world of even just a few years ago, 25:21 leaving many people wondering if there's hope. 25:24 Our free offer today is "Hope for a Planet in Crisis." 25:27 To receive this free guide, 25:28 call 800-253-3000, 25:32 go online at iiwoffer.com, 25:35 or write to the address on your screen. 25:37 Get "Hope for a Planet in Crisis." 25:39 Visit iiwoffer.com. 25:44 >>John Bradshaw: So what's the answer to a conspiracy 25:46 that's led people to feel free to obey 25:49 basically whatever they want, basically to obey themselves-- 25:53 which means to be their own god-- 25:56 what's the answer? 25:58 Well, the answer is this: 25:59 a radical commitment to God, a commitment to Jesus, 26:03 and a complete surrender to Christ and to the Word of God, 26:07 including the law of God. 26:10 If God said it, that's enough. 26:12 And how's that going with you? 26:14 We're in a battle here on Planet Earth, a real spiritual battle. 26:20 Only as we surrender to the Word of God 26:22 are we safe in the face of this relentless attack. 26:26 Let's pray for that true surrender 26:29 and pray that God would keep us safe, 26:31 not just now but always. 26:33 Let's pray now. 26:34 ♪[Soft music]♪ Our Father in heaven, 26:36 caught up in this war, this battle, we turn to You. 26:40 Jehoshaphat in the Bible was caught up in a battle 26:42 he knew he couldn't win, but he turned to You, 26:44 and he prayed and he said, "Our eyes are upon You." 26:48 And so, Lord, that's what we say to You. 26:50 We're looking in Your direction. 26:51 Friend, are your eyes on Jesus? 26:54 If they're not, you'll be pushed this way and that, 26:57 swayed this way and that, 26:58 but if your eyes are on Him, focusing on the risen Savior, 27:03 looking upon a God who is love, 27:05 then you'll receive His presence and His strength 27:07 and His blessing. 27:08 And this great God will live His life out in you. 27:10 Lord, that's our prayer. Is it your prayer, friend? 27:12 If it is, open your heart to God. 27:14 Say to God, "Yes, God, that's my prayer. 27:16 Yes, Lord, I want Jesus to be my Savior now and forever." 27:21 Keep us, Lord, in this great conspiracy, 27:24 this great battle. 27:26 Thank You that when Jesus comes back, we will be able to say, 27:29 "Victory, victory is ours forever." 27:33 We pray gratefully in Jesus' name. 27:36 Amen. 27:38 Thank you so very much for joining me. 27:40 Looking forward to seeing you again next time. 27:42 Until then, remember: 27:43 "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, 27:48 but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'" 27:52 ♪[Theme music]♪ |
