He says, "I just want to talk to you. 11:30 I just want to" -- yeah. >> Right, right. >> And He talks to you 11:33 when it's quiet like that. >> Yeah, and I think a lot of the times that He does that 11:37 is through, you know, kind of we call them "wilderness experiences," 11:40 when you have people like Moses going out into the wilderness, or Jesus 11:44 went out into the wilderness. But it doesn't always have to be like that 11:47 because sometimes you just are in situations that you're not comfortable with, like Daniel. 11:51 He went to Babylon, and for him he still felt alone and he had to depend on God 11:55 because it was just something he wasn't used to. >> Right. 11:58 No, I can relate with that, what Nick's saying. It's different situations. 12:02 I know for me this past Christmas break I went to Mexico on a mission trip. 12:07 And Nick actually went on it, too, but he came later than I did. 12:10 We had just come off of a music tour. So, I was exhausted already 12:13 from the tour and went straight into this mission trip unlike Nick. 12:16 He went home for a little bit. So, you got a break. >> Awesome. 12:18 >> But I was straight into it, and getting there I was tired. It was really hot, 12:23 and we got there late at night, and I was just looking around. I'm like, "What am I doing 12:27 here?" I had no idea. I was just confused. 12:30 I'm like, "I could be at home with my family really enjoying Christmas." 12:33 >> Because it felt nothing like Christmas there. Sunshine and burritos was not -- 12:38 yeah. >> And so I'm there, and I'm like, "What am I doing?" 12:42 And there's very few people I knew there, and like I said Nick wasn't there at that time. 12:46 And so, I was just kind of by myself. I'm like, "I'm not even with 12:49 family. It's near Christmas." And we were there 12:52 to build churches, right? So, I got to know people there. I was talking to them. 12:56 And at that point in my life, I was in a place where it was hard. 13:00 I felt like I wasn't really hearing God, and being around these people 13:04 is interesting because they were all very unique, different people. 13:07 They were from different places all around the world and just different backgrounds, 13:11 different cultures. But yet, even though they all had a different experience with 13:15 God, and you could tell, they all got to -- like, they got along very well, 13:21 and it's because they all had that same goal in mind of "We are gonna build these churches 13:24 for the people down here." And because of that goal, they had that same aim. 13:28 Just because they heard God differently, they still got along because of that, 13:32 and they were able to work together. And really seeing that, it 13:34 showed me that God really does speak to us uniquely, and it ended up being an amazing 13:40 mission trip. And I learned a lot about how God speaks to us. 13:43 And I really saw him through all the different people there in unique, different ways, 13:47 just kind of like in the Bible how to each person God spoke to them really differently. 13:52 He didn't use just one way to speak to, like, a person exactly the same every time, 13:56 but it was in unique ways. Like Balaam was through a donkey and other people angels, other 14:00 people's dreams, right? And so He really is someone that speaks to you 14:04 the way you really need to hear it. >> Yeah, yeah, it's amazing. 14:08 You know, when you talk to someone, you have different conversations. 14:12 So, I talk to Darrell, and the way he talks to me is probably quite different 14:15 than the way he talks to Nick, than the way he talks to McClain and the way he talks to Rene. 14:22 And so we talk to each other differently. Why wouldn't God talk to us 14:25 differently? He has different relationships, and we're 14:28 all unique individuals. I think of this guy from Bermuda. 14:32 He's a famous guy. He's famous there. He wasn't famous at the time. 14:37 His name is Johnny Barnes. And so, Johnny Barnes was a bus driver. 14:42 He was actually trained as an electrician, and he was a very social guy. 14:47 And so, he liked to talk to people, and he would share his faith. 14:50 And so, he got to the stage in his life where he was ready to retire. 14:55 And so, he didn't really want to sit and do nothing. And so, he was praying, reading 15:01 his Bible one morning. And he said, "God, what should I do?" 15:06 And he distinctly heard God say to him, "Go to Crow Lane and tell all the people 15:12 driving by that I love them." So, that's what he did. 15:17 He got up 4:00 in the morning, and he went down to Crow Lane, and he just, "I love you. 15:22 I love you. God loves you. God loves you." True. 15:25 And everybody on the island knows this guy. He became so famous 15:29 that even Queen Elizabeth gave him an honor, you know. He was honored. 15:34 They even made a statue, which cost them $70,000. And so this statue of him 15:39 standing there. Why? Because he got up every morning, 15:44 and he was there on that street corner from 4:00 in the morning until 10:00 in the morning. 15:49 And it's the busiest roundabout in the whole island of Bermuda. And so, as the people 15:55 were going by, they got to know this man. And they were so cheered by him. 15:59 So, one day he got sick. And he was in the hospital. Don't worry 19:40 about what's unclear. So, sometimes we want to know the future. 19:43 Who is the person we're going to marry? Where are we going to study? 19:47 And we want to know this some distant future. And God is really saying, 19:51 "Don't worry about those things in the future. Just focus on the things 19:54 that I've told you already that are really clear." And so sometimes people want 19:58 to know the future, and I say, "Well, what is clear to you? Should you read your Bible?" 20:01 And they say, "Yes, I should read my Bible. That's clear to me." 20:03 "Are you reading your Bible?" They're like, "Oh..." "Are you praying? 20:07 Do you know that you should pray?" "Yes." 20:10 Okay? And so you know certain things God wants you to do, 20:13 and you're not doing them. So, God, why would He give you more when you're not doing what 20:17 He's already telling you to do and what's clear to you? So, I want to tell you 20:20 a little bit about a lady who, she grew up in Brazil, and when she became 20:25 a baptized Christian, she was so on fire. She shared 20:28 her faith with everyone. And there are many people coming to the church. 20:31 She was not a Bible worker. She wasn't a pastor or anything like that. 20:35 She was just sharing her faith as a church member. And she got older, and 20:40 eventually she was ready to retire, and she became a hazard on the road. 20:44 They took her driver's license away, and so they said, "Okay, you can't drive, 20:49 grandma." And so she sat at home, and she felt so useless. 20:54 And she was praying to God, "What can I do? I want to help people." 20:57 And then she noticed outside of her window they were setting up a circus 21:02 in this field outside. And so she prayed to God, "What can I do for those people 21:05 over there?" because she wanted to share her faith. And God said to her, "Make 21:09 lemonade." And she was used to hearing God's voice. 21:14 And so she's like, "Make lemonade? Okay." So, she went to her friends 21:18 and her neighbors. She said, "I need big containers, and I need some 21:21 powder." Help me. I have to make 21:24 some lemonade for these people and can you freeze some ice for me?" 21:26 And so she made gallons and gallons of lemonade, and every day she would go there, 21:29 and she'd give this lemonade to these guys. And there are over 21:32 300 workers who were working in this big circus. And so, she did this day 21:36 after day, and eventually they said to her, "Grandma, why are you doing this for us?" 21:39 And she said, "Well, God told me to do this for you." And they said, "We believe you, 21:45 because we go from town to town, and no one has ever done this before." 21:48 And so they said, "Tell us more about God. How can you hear His voice?" 21:51 And so she started sharing about the Bible, and as they learned, they started 21:57 to become very, very interested. And some of them became Christians, 10, 15, 20. 22:04 Eventually there was 120 of them who became Christians, and they decided, "Well, what can we 22:09 do? How do we share our faith?" And they said, "Well, we're 22:12 in the circus." So, they asked the church pastors, and they're like, "Eh, 22:15 you maybe should quit the circus because that's kind of not a Christian thing to do." 22:17 But others were like, "Maybe we should use this to serve God." 22:22 And so they started praying about it. And some of the clowns 22:24 got together, and they said, "What we're going to do, we're going to tell the people 22:29 about Jesus." And so, it came time. The circus came together. 22:35 The clowns were having fun. And the people were laughing. And then finally 22:40 one of the clowns came out and he said, "You know, it's fun to be at the circus, 22:43 and it's great, and we love making fun, but life is not always fun. 22:49 And I found that sometimes it's difficult. And I've learned something. 22:54 There is this old lady. Let me introduce you to her.
